Cozy Cat Cafe in Canterbury

Being big cat lovers and having been to our first ever cat cafe last year we wanted to find somewhere nice to celebrate my birthday and landed on this lovely little gem of a place to frequent on our weekend away. The Cosy Cat Cafe is truly like a home away from home. The staff are all so wonderfully warm and welcoming and went above and beyond to make me feel special with a beautifully decorated table and even singing Happy Birthday and bringing me cake, The cats are all so well cared for and lovely, they have plenty of choice for sleeping and playing with lots of different toys and look very happy and content. We couldn’t pick a favourite but some of them were Gatsby, Shelby, Trixie, Tao and Polly. The cakes and hot chocolate were delicious and the gift shop was a nice touch which we bought a fridge magnet to add to our growing collection. These ladies have great knowledge of the cats and you can tell they are all well looked after and the support they have and show is amazing. We will definitely be back for a return visit in the future when in the area-keep up the good work you’re all fabulous!

We visited this cafe for my daughter's birthday, the staff were very knowledgeable each cat within The Cosy Cat Cafe. They were very friendly and welcoming, ensuring my daughter had an amazing birthday! She enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea whilst there and afterwards spent some time playing games with the cats. They were very friendly and playful whilst we were there.

Absolutely loved my visit to this brilliant place. The food and drinks were great; lots of choice and veggie options. Service was great; really friendly and welcoming. And the cats were all happy, relaxed and well cared for. Lovely range of cat related gifts to purchase.

What an amazing place! Friendly cats, brilliant staff and a warm, cosy atmosphere. Food was excellent, but it was made more enjoyable by being able to spend time with the beautifully cared for cats. They all enjoyed a play and were happy to be stroked and petted. I loved the escape route in the ceiling, where they can escape if they want to. Lovely quality items in the gift shop, all very reasonably priced. Will definitely return. If you love cats, this is the place to visit.

After a difficult few months, I came to the cafe with a friend for lunch. I got a lovely welcome from the staff, the place was clean, the cats are all adorable. I had a lovely tuna mayo jacket potato & a cappuccino, it was all delicious! I didn't want to leave, as it is so therapeutic. I feel content & relaxed & can't wait for my next visit. I love that they have a portable ramp for people who are in a wheelchair like myself, the toilet is also accessible & parking is close by. Thank you to all staff & beautiful cats for such a lovely experience.

We went for my daughter’s birthday and was very enjoyable. We had hot chocolates and some cake all of us and was really nice. The Cats are all lovely and friendly and well looked after. Very reasonably priced in all and will certainly go back with the kids again.

I had a lovely spur of the moment visit and I can’t rave about this place enough. The food was nice, drinks me up varied but more than anything, the staff were so lovely. The cats are obviously the main attraction - all very sweet as you’d hope - but just as importantly the staff are accommodating, welcoming and really make you feel at home. Can’t wait to pay another visit!

It’s a funny little place. I found the lady serving abrupt and quite frankly unwelcoming to children. My children gave up in the end as kept saying no to them when they were just showing interest in the cats and treating the kids like they were getting in the way, I couldn’t wait to leave. The food was terribly overpriced and basic. I won’t be returning, it wasn’t a treat at all.

So happy to be back for another visit, I absolutely love this café. We had afternoon tea, a voucher for which was bought by a friend as a present, and the tea was fabulous. We had to take some cake home with us as we couldn't finish it! Nice as the tea was, the highlight of this café, as always, is the cats. This is their domain and they share it with us to meet and play with them. I love them all! The cats are so well looked after and obviously happy, which is a joy to see. They have three floors and a garden to roam (top floor for cats only) so they can socialise as much or as little as they like. There are always staff and volunteers on hand to tell you about the cats. Having seen some of the less favourable reviews, I can only conclude they were not real cat lovers. This café is a home for rescue cats with a café included rather than a café with some cats thrown in. Everything is thought out for the welfare of the cats and it shows, and the staff and customers love them all. Mel was a great waitress and cat servant. Highly recommended for those who like cats.

The staff in here were very friendly and we enjoyed hearing about the all of the cats. I do think age 7 is too young and the minimum age should be higher. There were young children in there waking up sleeping cats and being heavy handed with them (not intending to but just because they are so young). The cat cafe in London is 12 plus which I think is more appropriate. I should image the cats are much happier when it’s not the school holidays.

This review is long over due! I went to The Cosy Cat Café with my boyfriend early January because I was missing my cat back home in Los Angeles so my boyfriend decided to take me to local cat cafe so I can feel better. This place is truly one of a kind when it comes to cat cafés (I've been to so many cat cafés all over the world!) because its cleanliness, its charm and the owner Kris (apology if I mispelled wrong) shared a lot of her personal experience when it comes to her knowlodge on cat resuce, fostering and her passion that led to her opening this cat café. Her love for rescuing cats and make sure every one of them is healthy and in good place truly made me very touched. We got carrot cake, victorian cake and homemade mac n cheese, they were all wonderful and tasted homemade! The whole experience was just awesome and we both learned so much from Kris. She never once rushed us to leave like other cat cafés and we were able to pet all the cats!!!

This was our first visit to the Cosy Cat Cafe today and we had a lovely time. It was busy as you expect it to be at the weekend. The staff were welcoming and friendly upon our arrival. The cats looked healthy and relaxed and very well cared for. Some sleepy and chilled. Some very playful and active. The food was tasty and prepared quickly. We had toasted sandwich with cheese and sundried tomato and coffee and walnut cake. Hot chocolate and coffee. All tasted delicious. Never been to a cat café before - we loved it. Spotlessly clean, lovely staff, delightful cats. Cat heaven with toys, scrambling tube, lots of different 'beds' for cats to loll about in, small shelves at different heights around walls and floor for cats to jump around on safely. These seem really happy cats...and no wonder, lovely warm,clean environment kitted out just for them. Minimum spend of £10.50 per person so maybe not for you if you just want a quick, cheap coffee not surrounded by cats! We thought it was great. Some cats just slept through our entire visit, some were full on mad for the whole time (yes, that's you, Gatsby!). Have to enter via an 'airlock' - shut the door to the street before opening door to café, for cats' safety as this is on a town centre street. I found it remarkable there was no discernible cat hair on tables etc. Nice coffee and cake, immaculately clean loo. Really well run, I'd recommend.

Lovely informal cafe with friendly and caring staff - you can tell they are mad about cats! Beautiful moggies to chill with while having a cuppa and piece of cake. Will definitely be returning next time I need a bit of cat therapy.

I visited lunchtime with my daughter and son-in-law as a special treat. My daughter was ecstatic to see all the cats and kittens who had been rescued. The staff, who were volunteers, were very friendly and showed my daughter the garden at the back which the cats can go into through a cat flap. They also have a chill room upstairs. The food was lovely - I had homemade mac and cheese with bacon bits and salad and school cake with custard. My daughter had a panini and my son in law had a jacket potato. I would definitely recommend a visit.

My mum and I visited the cosy cat cafe in hernebay today, we are home now but we are still talking about it as we had such a great time there! The staff were really friendly, experienced and knowledgeable you can tell how much they look after all the cats, and how happy the cats are in such a lovely environment and have a lovely cat garden to play in. Such a happy Cat cafe . The staff are so friendly and more than happy to tell us all about each cat and kitten they have. They ensured that we met all the cats and understand their temperaments. Making full use of the hour we were there. The food was delicious and a fair price. Most of all it’s clear the cats are happy in their environment and even more happy to meet us cat crazy people on a day to day basis ! Highly recommend :) Thank you

We were on holiday and booked to visit this cafe. The cats are absolutely beautiful and very friendly. The staff are lovely and helpful (especially Felicity). Milkshakes and cake were delicious. Nice to see that the cats have access to an outdoor (enclosed) space. My son has Autism so we visited late on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. We loved it and will definitely return if we are near Herne Bay again.

We visit the cat cafe regulary and we popped over from Folkestone to see the new kittens but the cafe was full, my son is Autistic and really struggles socially, he tends to need to remove outside stimuli to access the community wearing headphones etc. He was hungry and became tearful at the thought of not seeing the kittens, Mel was so kind and even though she was super busy found a spot for us out the way so that we could eat and eventually spend some time with the kittens. The lady who does the cooking checked if we needed anything and the panini's and brownie were lovely as usual. Everyone is always super friendly and accomodating, they love their cats and are really knowledgeable. Its one of our favourite places happy places to go where we can feel comfortable,thankyou everyone at The Cosy Cat Cafe for all you do xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Our daughter asked to cone to the Cosy Cat cafe in Herne Bay. What an amazing experience. We were warmly welcomed by Mel who let us choose our seat, and then introduced us to the cats. She genuinely loves each cat. You can just tell by the way she talkes to them. The cats can choose where to go (the choice of 3 floors and a garden!) The top floor is for cats only so they can choose Privacy if they wish. All the cats and kittens looked well looked after and content. I enjoyed chatting to Chris about the cats. She really knew each cat and was so approachable. The only bad point was when it was time to leave. Would I recommend the Cosy Cat Cafe. Definitely yes. Clean premises, friendly staff, gorgeous cats. Thank you Cosy Cat cafe for a fantastic time.

Love this place! It was my 3rd time visiting with friends this weekend. If you love cats then you must come and see all the amazing work these people are doing by looking after these beautiful cats. The kittens have arrived now too and are super cute. The cats have a lovely play area and food available all the time, so it really is a sanctuary for them, after coming from really terrible circumstances in some poor cases. Well worth a visit. 10/10 for doing a sterling job everyone 🤩
