If you’re in Illminster and want some good food or even ok food DONT go here if I was you the Riverside is better. Poor hygiene that I’ve witnessed and dog hair I’m my cake Lovely looking place but who ever is running it needs to stop and think about what they are doing!! Safe bet is going to the riverside or burger king on the roundabout!! Worst coffee & even dry cake I was not impressed

An amazing lunch here today. We had the tastiest halloumi burger and a fishnchips burger. It was all delicious and freshly prepared. The rest of the menu looked so good- can't wait to return and try everything! Rosie and James were very welcoming and friendly- this cafe is such a hidden gem.

We had our delayed (2022) office Christmas meal here. We were given the upstairs room to ourselves, which was great. Food was lovely and service was attentive. Special mention for the naughtiest chocolate brownies ever (and they were gluten free!).

To be honest it wasn't dinner, it was breakfast ( that dosnt rhyme). I've just eaten the most delicious Chorizo Hash, potatoes, peppers, chorizo, onions, with underlying flavours of paprika and garlic, topped off with two poached eggs. It was full of flavour and vibrant in colour. A beautiful creamy chai latte made with coconut milk, this was recommended by Rosie the cafe Manager is now going to be a firm favourite. Can't wait for our next visit. A warm quirky and very inviting establishment. Well done x

One of the worst coffees ever during my 3 months in England. Ordered a flat white, got a watery laté after a long wait. Nice decor. Note to your barista. The best flat whites are made with Oatly barista.

We have guests to stay & their request was for a proper English breakfast. We’ve been to many wonderful places for breakfast around Ilminster during the stay & have enjoyed them all but this was the absolute best! We had scrambled eggs instead of fried & they were made to perfection & all the trimmings. All staff were friendly & accommodating, they made allowances for our nervous dog & for any changes to the breakfast. We also had chai lattes with coconut milk recommended to us & they were really delicious. Absolutely recommend to everyone. Very welcoming, quirky, interesting decor. Lovely atmosphere. We’ve had lunches here too & alway fantastic. A local favourite.

This was a coffee and brunch stop on our way home from Devon, the cafe is very welcoming with lovely quirky decor. We took our dog, Lily who was warmly welcomed and we also had the pleasure of meeting their rescue dog, Xena. We had the veggie breakfast and the bacon/maple French toast, both were superb, well presented and thought out, with excellent flavours. This will definitely be our go to stop on the way to Devon and Cornwall.

Staying at Travelodge Ilminster Services, we were looking for brunch and this came up on a search. It's literally two minutes off the A303 roundabout and a perfect stop for refuelling when traveling to the South-West. Lovely couple, quirky place inside, sunny space outside in a beautiful, peaceful, interesting location. Excellent breakfast/ brunch with great flavours plus tasty homemade baked beans. Highly recommend. And we will definitely be stopping here again! Forget Burger King and Greggs! There is GOOD food out there!

The staff are what make this cafe. Looking for somewhere to book for my Aunt's birthday, but needing it to be calm rather than hectic and frantic, I enquired a week ago if the Courtyard Cafe could do a cream tea for a small party of 5. While they don't actually have one on the menu they were kind enough to say yes and they did us proud! Delicious warm and freshly made scones came out to us on a lovely cake stand. Their beautiful mis-matched china cups and teapots are delightful. Clotted cream! So much of it! And dishes of strawberry jam that never ran out. Service was fantastic - friendly and efficient, just as it should be. Will be back soon, and am busy telling all my friends how lovely this cafe is. Thank you.

We went out of our way to stop at this place before a long journey and after days of camping. We really wanted a great vegan breakfast and the reviews suggested this was the place to go. The decor is quirky and really interesting, where you notice something different everytime you look around. There is seating outdoors, inside the lower floor and on the second floor. Would say the second floor is a great cosy coffee and cake spot, where’s downstairs suits eating a proper meal. The owners are friendly, chatty and put up with our incessant questions and blathering. We had a few coffees with oat milk which were delicious and generously sized. We also had the vegan breakfast which was a generous portion, and clearly made with skill and love. It had hunks of buttered bread, avocado with a very special usp, spinach, homemade baked beans, scrambled tofu, hash brown, mushrooms and tomatoes and a homemade vegan sausage. It was very delicious and filling, really high quality and creative. Lastly, we overheard they were making vegan viennese fingers and they kindly made them up quickly so we could buy a couple. We took them to go and had them later and they were really delicious and well made. I would strongly recommend this place to vegans as they also offer other vegan plates as well as what we had. Everything is fresh, made well and great value for money. The decor and owners are also super cool, which only adds to the overall experience.

Called in with a friend for a drink and we were tempted by the friendly welcome and enticing menu to opt for stopping for one of the “new to menu” pizzas and I am so glad we did! We both opted for the spicy pizza and I have to say… it was one of the best pizzas I have had. Freshly cooked and fully loaded - perfect! 😋

It's a little pricey for a gastro pub, but normally, it's well worth money. It is very friendly and a warm invite when you enter. It's always a great selection on the menu. I decided on the soup of the day, which was potato and leak served with croutons and bread with a herby butter. I was looking forward to this as I like the combination of thick potato and the hint of an onion leak coming through the texture. I was slightly disappointed as it was lacking in flavour, and I didn't expect a french baton with the soup. The main made up for this in the sense the lamb was cooked to perfection, but there was a curious yoghurt combination going on at the side that didn't really work, but that aside I did enjoy the main. I didn't have a desert mainly because I was full.
