Very good choice of beers. Excellent welcome from staff and locals when we entered the public bar. This is an excellent pub which also serves food (we however only went in for drinks , but the food looked good). Recommend as we enjoyed our visit. The pub soon became very busy which is an excellent sign for a pub at lunch time.

Akbar's kitchen in The Sun Inn, Bruton is fabulous. The food was full of flavours. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Had we been staying in the area longer, we would have returned for another meal.

Lovely old fashioned English pub that offers a variety of good and drinks. I only ordered drinks so cannot speak for the food but the drinks were reasonably priced at £4.50 a pint (thatchers gold) there is also a TV to watch Sky sports and a pool table. The toilets were also very clean. No complaints.

Family birthday Never been here before, we live in Yeovil, by chance somebody recommended this pub, it’s quite an old pub nothing special. The chef is Iranian and rents the kitchen but he is a really friendly person and always has a smile on his face. He has a vast Array of a menu! From Persian, Italian (pizza) and English food, m there were 7 of us of which 5 of us had Persian curries and they were amazing all the food comes out hot! Which is a rarity these days. I can’t recommend this pub highly enough especially for the food, we will definitely be eating there again. Oh! And the food is really cheap, So I would definitely recommend it for it’s relaxed and friendly atmosphere, but the food did it for us👍👍

Super old fashioned pub with an unexpected lunch menu. We just had to try the Persian food. The chicken curry (Persian style) was fabulous. And they have Guinness Zero! Great for drivers. Many thanks for a super lunch stop. All good. 😎 👍 👍 👍 👍

Had a lunch which had one good dish: a smoked eggplant dish. All else was less than mediocre: steak was overcooked, pizza was a concoction that kind of looked like pizza and didn't taste good, onion rings tasted like they were factory-made, etc. Hygiene quite bad: dirty cutlery, sticky table, toilets none too savory either. Would not recommend, although people were friendly in a utilitarian sort of way.

I came to this lovely pub for a meal after making the trek to purchase some of the finest cheese available from Godminster Cheese. The Menu was very extensive, and had many different categories of cuisine to choose from! I was delighted to find one of the best Gourmet Burgers I have ever eaten in a pub, and would definitely recommend giving it a go! The Restaurant goes all out for customers, and the meal included the absolute highest quality triple cooked chips, a well seasoned, delicious salad and fantastic onion rings as well! The meal is served with an excellent array of sauces (I chose tomato ketchup, Mayonnaise, and curry sauce). The pub offers a good selection of largers and also offers sky sports, BT Sport, a pool table & a garden with ample seating with sun shades for summer and heaters in the winter. I thoughly enjoyed my meal and pint and it was a pleasure to visit Bruton.

Excellent food and welcome ! Its taken me too long to discover Akbar at The Sun Inn, Bruton.. Having enjoyed an excellent supper here with friends earlier this month , I have been back twice for lunch, bringing different friends. Verdict unanimous ; Splendid food, warm welcome, great value !

Visited today for the first time. Group of walkers and we had arranged a table for lunch. We were made very welcome in the bar and then the restaurant area. Akbar came out to greet us and offered us the menus ( which offered usual pub fare) but also gave us the option to have 5 Persian dishes, made fresh, to share, on rice. We opted for this and were not disappointed. But before that we had some flatbreads to share with a hummus bowl and an aubergine bowl. Excellent. The 5 mains we shared were from the usual menu and were superb. Large portions which despite being hungry we sadly could not entirely finish. Excellent morish, spiced food which I recommend highly to try. All for less than £20 each. Will definitely be back and although I live circa 40 miles away I will make the effort.

What a treat! The Persian dishes are to die for, literally I'd kill someone to eat it again! Also the home cooked sticky toffee pudding and custard was incredible Very generous portions and the chef what a charming man, almost charmed the pants off me! If you like delicious food, service with a smile and latherings of sticky custard this is the place for you!

Excellent! Absolutely excellent! Having eaten at all the places in town inc Roth etc. the Persian curries and the service here is the best. Utterly unassuming, insanely authentic, fragrant and simply delicious. The staff are polite and friendly, the chef has perfected his craft and the price is far too reasonable. We will return again and again and again when next down.

Located on the main High St is the Sun Inn. It is an old pub with low ceiling with bags of character. The bar and restaurant operate separately in the same building, which was weird. You went to the bar ordered & paid for your drinks. We sat in the garden which is a nice sun trap and ordered & paid separately for our food. The food is a mix of pub standards and Persian food. Our table ordered a mix of both, and all the food was good.

It's hard to find somewhere to eat in Bruton midweek - all the fancy places only seem to open at the weekend, presumably because that's when their clientele come down from London. So we were delighted to find this little gem - a very traditional pub, with the surprising bonus of wonderful Persian food. I enjoyed the chicken kebab, while my other half had a chicken stew with apricots - both excellent. Friendly and efficient service - but be warned - the helpings are enormous! (We also felt very safe, with tables well spaced out.)

If you like a bowl of slop with the odd small piece of meat lurking in it then this is the place for you. But if you want something recognisable and not blanketed with spices that burn the palate you had best stick to the traditional pub food.

Great to go back to a pub that I frequented quite often when I used to do a lot of walks and reunion dinners - called in for a drink - prices reasonable, and plenty of outdoor seating - great to have a rest after a days walk

Service was extremely slow and then my meal arrived with mash potato instead of the “vegetables” that was stated on the menu. I had specifically ordered my meal based on the fact that it had vegetables as I don’t do carbs.

Apparently the takeaway chicken nuggets and chips are amazing but, as they’re not my thing, I wasn’t sure what to expect. All I can say is, Persian food is out of this world. Akbar is the most incredible host / cook and I cannot wait to go back to sample the food again.

Our orders were taken by the chef himself, who was extremely friendly. The food was all cooked 100% fresh and was extremely high quality (the pizzas and Persian dishes especially). The chef checked on us and asked if we wanted anything, we asked for ketchup and he returned not only with ketchup but his special Persian vegetables which were astonishingly good. I highly recommend this pub, especially if you are going to eat in! 10/10

I did not eat here but stopped in for a quick drink after a very long walk! It was very quiet due to the time of day and others were sat in the garden as it was a sunny day. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and they are operating a one way system. All in all a pleasant visit on this occasion.
