Country Kitchen Kirkhamgate in Wakefield

Been ordering regularly from here for about a year but today I bought what was assumed a "fresh" cream scone to find the scone itself stale, the fresh cream was hard and the fruit had gone mouldy.... not sure how long they had been sat there but it's definitely put me off. Called to let them know so they could check the others and the only response I got was thanks for letting me know.... no apology or offer of a refund.

Found this little gem on our dog walk this morning. Fabulous freshly made sandwiches, coleslaw and Stanley the dog got a free sausage! Everyone happy!! Think we might become Sat morning regulars.

I was passing by today on my way to Wakefield as I'm from Bradford, I called into country kitchen cafe for a hot drink and a sandwich and it was really nice! The woman behind the counter was lovely and well spoken I will definitely call in again and I recommend everybody else to try too.

Called in today for a full English breakfast the food was really fresh and tasty highly recommend will defo be visiting again.

Excellent customer service, excellent quality, great prices, one hell of a cafe worth a visit. Used this cafe over two years as close to whete i worked, would happly go here every day for lunch Breakfasts are exvellent home made cakes

Everything top notch, they roast all their meats, all cakes are home baked and are fantastic. Bread fresh as, and the bacon butties are gorgeous. Very generous servings too along with the banter.

We're a bunch of hard working hungry tradesmen and we know our snap. We always call in here for our sanis (don't tell the wives!). The service is good and the ladies are friendly. The sandwiches are lovely and plentyful.. Last time I had the BEST.. Bacon, egg, sausage and tomato.. It was huge and the ingredients were very tasty.. Defo the best!. We will b calling in again on Friday morning! Cheers country kitchen!

Not local to this sandwich shop but travel to it friendly staff nothing to much trouble sometimes order by phone always ready and eat full English breakfast if I have more time the quality is outstanding as I am a bit of a snob ie branded names marks sparks food I don’t eat crap I haven’t had one bad meal or sandwich sausages high quality defo worth a visit everybody always made welcome by the owner

Having eaten from here a couple of dozen times I can say the food is generally tasty with good size portions. The service can, on occasion, be a little slow as they tend to prioritise the workmen for service and chit chat but i suppose this is their main customer base so they are looking after them more. The only real negative thing I have found is the terrible poor quality bacon - if only they'd cut the rind off (or use better quality). The sausages are also cheap but a little guilty pleasure of mine so i cant complain. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and they are good value. The home made cakes are delicious. If you visited when it first opened you would have found it rather shabby-chic and quaint. This has now descended to grubby and cluttered but they are trying to provide more than meals as the general store next door to it unfortunately is never stocked therefore the clever ladies are capitalising on this. Pity they dont stay open all day to act as a real local shop that also does food. Keep up the hard work ladies.

Been here a couple of times and I've found the staff extremely rude every time. The first time I was left waiting to be served for about 10 minutes the owner didn't even acknowledge I was there. The 2nd time she served all the work men that came in after me first. Don't think the owner likes women.

being a gas man I have had a fair share of sarnis on my travels! country kitchen deffo do the best sarnis AND breakfasts!

Ordered a bacon, tomato and mushroom sandwich to take out. Sandwich was ok, a lot of fat on the bacon though. Woman serving me was very grumpy, tried several times to make conversation but drew a blank every time. I came out stinking of burning fat, I suggest they get the extraction fixed. As I stood waiting for my sandwich, I couldn't help but notice the shop needed a good spring clean and tidy! I won't be back......

Visited for the first time last Saturday for a late breakfast. Had the small breakfast which was just enough and a great price at just £3. Washed it down with a cup of tea in a proper cup n saucer. The staff were very friendly. Will definitely call again

The sandwich was fine and good value. I don't think I'll go back through as the girl who made up our sandwiches didn't wear gloves, handled everything with her hands including filling; but the turn off was definitely the extremely long false nails she had. I'm sure that's not hygienic.

I nipped in here for a panini just after the school run. The service was friendly and the food was hot and fresh and reasonably priced

Yet another delicious sandwich from this fab shop. We had scones with jam and cream and they were delicious! This shop/ cafe is such a treat to visit and the staff are lovely. Highly recommended.

Esta es la mejor tienda de sándwiches frescos que he tenido el placer de usar. Se ha convertido en un foso habitual parada para mi amigo y yo ya nos ciclo la rueda Wakefield. Sabroso, Los completos a reventar sándwiches recién hechos a un precio estupendo y el personal es muy amable, eficiente y es simplemente precioso. Disfrute!

Esta tienda de sándwiches sigue siendo mejor. Tiene excelente asientos al aire libre, hay algunos asientos en el interior pero solemos ir aquí en nuestras bicicletas. La comida es una maravilla, con enormes sándwiches recién hechos con mucha variedad de rellenos calientes y fríos y las tartas caseras, las porciones generosas y puede incluso tomar una taza de té. Es toda una gran calidad, buen tamaño de porción y una excelente relación calidad-precio. El personal es muy servicial y amable. Sin duda merece la pena una visita y una parada si su brillante haciendo la rueda de Wakefield.

Encontramos esta pequeña tienda de sándwiches por casualidad en mi viaje a Wakefield. Hay unas cuantas sillas y una mesa para comer en o puede llevar.

Live down street from here an regularly eat here. Have worked in construction industry an have ate sandwiches all over England but never as good as country kitchen.

I was having my car serviced up the road from Country Kitchen. And the owner of the garage recommended them as he and his staff breakfast there daily.For a small café this is a great place good fresh coffee and the breakfast was outstanding and hot. The service was friendly and good nothing was too much.

I have eaten here a number of time and have never been disappointed The sandwiches are fresh and lots of fillings. They have a great selection of cakes and home made pies. Wednesday is dinner wow fantastic value. It's worth a detour to call in.

This is a great wee sandwich shop, with fantastic huge sandwiches, fresh ingredients, loads of choices, lush cakes and a great mug of tea- all at amazing prices!!! I've stopped here several times whilst doing the Wakefield Wheel and have never been disappointed. The staff are really friendly and the choice of hot and cold food is amazing. There is plenty of outdoor(& indoor) seating which is great and loads of room for the bikes. Such a treat to visit on a bike ride - highly recommended!!!

Whopper sandwiches, lovely bread, really tasty fillings, great value for money. Only buy a sandwich if you're hungry!!

The food is superb and of immense proportions. I have had a salad sandwich on two occasions and this could have been a main meal in a breadcake. The breakfasts are fab, and the homemade soup and the scones are out of this world.
