Been to the Countryman several times for Sunday cavery over recent weeks and it’s always excellent. The meats are always juicy, tasty and locally produced, the selection of veg is amazing and all freshly cooked, nothing is left sitting in hot trays going dry. The new owner is friendly and helpful as are all his staff. the Countryman is definitely worth a visit and we look forward to returning again soon.

I went to this restaurant for a family dinner and I can easily say it was the worst meal I have ever had. For starters I was served cold wet potato skins(clearly frozen) and the main was inedible. While I was there another family got turned away due to the wait and were given other local suggestions including the service station, I have never been so jealous that they may have got to eat at a services. The smell of disinfectant from the men's toilet was overpowering when you walked in and the irony is that the other toilet really wasn't clean!

I can honestly say that this restaurant offers one of the best carvery's ever! By far one of the biggest selection of meats (with extremely generous portions!) and vegetables etc in the area at really a reasonable price. Great atmosphere and really friendly staff. Since stumbling upon this establishment 18 months or so ago, we've made it a family tradition to visit every time we venture down to Devon to visit my parents. Has loads of space for large groups which is perfect for larger families looking for somewhere to all have Sunday lunch together (you might want to book though as it can get really busy!).

We went here for lunch after a couple of recommendations. I don't know if it was because we were the only customers or what but our lunch was pretty poor and that's being charitable. We both had 'large' battered cod and chips. The cod was small and the batter strange, possibly the effect of being kept under a hot lamp for far too long. I would be very surprised if the fish had seen the inside of an ocean any time this side of last summer. The inside of a deep freeze, maybe. The chips were tolerable but far from good, bog standard frozen at a guess. At least the peas were okay. It came with really unpleasant bread (Tesco Blue Line by the look of it) and hard, odd tasting butter. The one real ale available, Tribute, was just about okay although as it is not my usual choice, I cannot be sure. The place is large but oddly claustrophobic due to the number of tables crammed into the place, many roped off. The stuffed hunting trophies adorning the walls are unpleasant but, i suppose, par for the course in this part of the World. Plus point - reasonably priced but anything else would have been an insult. The recommendations came from people whose opinions I would normally trust so I don't know what went wrong today but we shall not be returning.

this was a wonderful exprience . portion sizes excellent, the prices were reasonable, the atmosphere was welcoming and the host was very congenial. the only let down was the bar staff not knowing what bourbon was.

Good tasting food and quick service. Nice open area in the back to sit down as well. However, it can be quite loud and busy during peak lunch hours. Overall, worth a visit.
