Cottonrake Bakery in Glasgow City

Sentimos pena por la pobre chica que vino a tomar un café para llevar después de nosotros y esperó tanto tiempo. Personal más interesado en prepararse o tener una charla. De todo lo que nos apetecía en el menú de pasteles, así que solo cafés y un capuchino tibio en eso. Lástima porque su sala de operaciones es genial.

Nos encanta la panadería y hemos comido muchas veces en el Café sin preocupaciones en absoluto. En esta visita, elegí el plato de la mañana, como siempre hago. No estoy seguro de cómo dos pedazos de pan de centeno, un huevo cocido, una pequeña ofrenda de cebolla encurtida, un pedazo de salmón ahumado y algún tipo de queso suave / mantequilla de ajo, constituye un plato de la mañana. faltaban rodajas de queso, granola, yogur y fruta. Sí consulté los elementos que faltan, pero me informaron que el menú ha cambiado. (curiosamente, el precio no) Lo siento pero no volveré y no recomiendo.

Comida y servicio realmente decepcionantes. El café era genial, pero la tostadora de queso es tan mala que es increíble que sea £ 9. 50 ver foto.

Realmente odio dejar una mala crítica ya que hemos venido aquí desde que abrió y por lo general me encanta. Sin embargo, había una pulgada de largo babosa en mi ensalada y el personal no reaccionó bien. Llevamos la placa a un servidor que se disculpó brevemente. Luego recibimos un reemplazo, que fue abruptamente puesto sobre la mesa por el servidor que no dijo nada mientras lo hacían. El gerente vino a hablar con nosotros mientras nos acercábamos y se ofreció a compilar el elemento de menú afectado. Dijimos que esto no era suficiente y, a partir de entonces, el gerente se disculpó brevemente de nuevo y se ofreció a pagar la factura en general. Apreciamos esto, pero sentimos que el personal no se había comunicado entre sí sobre el problema que nos dejó sintiéndonos ignorados y casi como si tuviéramos la culpa por ser difíciles. Como digo, hemos llegado mucho y normalmente es uno de nuestros favoritos en el extremo oeste, pero no volveremos pronto por desgracia.

Fui al nuevo rastrillo de algodón en la oficina de correos por primera vez el otro día - y me entristece decir que estaba muy decepcionado. El rastrillo de algodón más pequeño en la carretera siempre es genial, pero este no estuvo a la altura de la misma reputación. Mi comida tenía un pelo enorme y estaba fría, y el total para mi comida y bebida mía y de mis amigos llegó a £ 30 - a pesar de que las porciones eran pequeñas y las bebidas servidas en vasos pequeños. Es triste decir que no volveré pronto

Terminamos afuera del Cottonrake en un día lluvioso, y pensé que vería cómo eran sus brownies. Comprobé tripadvisor y había algunas malas críticas y algunas buenas críticas, y decidí darle una oportunidad. Mientras comía mi brownie, pedí otro para mí y otro para mi pareja. Me comí mi brownie y una hora después mi pareja me ofreció su brownie, yo también me lo comí. En mi defensa he estado en un plan de alimentación muy estricto y esto fue un poco un desliz. Fue culpa del brownie.

Geweldig! We hebben zelfs extra meegenomen voor onderweg. Heerlijke croissantjes en zalige taartjes. Er zijn weinig zitplaatsen maar we hadden het geluk dat we een plek konden bemachtigen.

We love the Kelvinbridge cafe so decide to try the one further out towards Byers Road. Mistake, the cafe was not busy and there seemed like loads of staff - but what are they doing? Service is appalling slow, if it’s this bad when half full - what’s it going to like when busy - the cakes are great - but don’t bother unless you have the time to watch the staff chat amongst themselves,

I love Cottonrake, I've been going since the old days in Partick, but I was really disappointed in my coffee today. My flat white was served in a 6oz takeaway cup- for that size of coffee it's hardly worth bothering! I work in the hospitality industry and I know times are so hard right now, but this just felt mean, and I doubt I'll go back.

Used to eat in here once a week but the hostile and unfriendly service has put me off, and i go elsewhere now. Such a pity, as the food was very good, but for £7 a sandwich, no thanks!

Very busy bakery in the West End. (the line was out the door) Baked items were very good. We ordered a triple chocolate eclair & a blueberry frangipane. We enjoyed them both with hot tea.

We ate inside. I had a semla cake which was delicious. Had better coffee elsewhere but that's often personal taste. My partner ordered a quiche. Arrived cold and asked a staff member if it could be heated up. We were told no. Also, if sitting inside and paying extra to do so a little bit of salad on the side of the quiche would have been nice. Instead, it was just plonked on a plate cold.

I had a cafe au lait which was fine and a chocolate tart which was lovely. Service was quick and the pricing is just okay, maybe a little on the steep side. Overall, fairly solid.

Been going to Cottonrake for years but the coffee have went from being great to below average - overly milky and weak. Cakes are still good, especially the white chocolate tart. The dark chocolate tart is far too rich with the additional ganache on top, would be better with cream. The baguettes are rock hard, not enjoyable however the focaccia are good. Advice would be to go across the road to Black Pine if you want a great coffee.

I visited here after following them on Instagram and seeing their amazing pictures. Sadly, I was left feeling underwhelmed. The white ccjolate tart and cheeecake was nice, coffee very small. I had a vegan sandwich however, once I ate part of it, I seen it had a Parmesan sauce which generally contains rennet. The sandwich was not nice. My husband had a pesto sandwich and felt the pesto was overwhelming. Cost £25 for 2 coffees, 2 cakes and 2 ‘ok’ sandwiches. Should have just went out for lunch better value for money. Won’t return

I have to thank the amazing staff for accommodating me after I messed up my order, so friendly and bent over backwards to help cannot rate them highly enough, and cakes are amazing thank you!

The cakes are still great, as are the focaccia sandwiches. However, over the last month the coffee has went really downhill. To that extent I've stopped going. If you want a good coffee in Glasgow, go to Outlier. Or Black Pine Coffee which is just across the road (they also do excellent cookies). A shame really as I've got so many people onto Cottonrake over the years.

A regular customer, I always enjoy my coffee and sweet treat from Cottonrake. If you do have to queue - it is always worth the wait!

I had high hopes considering the previous reviews. Unfortunately, this didn't live upto expectations. We chose simple cinnamon buns but they were stale and there was not a hint of cinnamon in them. Not what we expected for the price we paid. The service was quick and friendly though 👍

Amazing food bit need to figure out how to serve faster. 30 minutes queuing . One person serves and takes money , one person packs. Wild be much faster

Cakes and bread fantastic but constantly let down by slow service and lack of awareness re queue. Cottonrake need better management behind the counter, they need better process to get people through the shop

One of the best bakeries in the UK! We went two days in a row because it was so delicious 😋 After going to cottonrake for breakfast yesterday we went at 8:00 (when it opens) today to get our baked goods fresh out of the oven, there was actually a queue today probably due to the school run, even though the bakery was busy the staff were very friendly and curious and even gave us recommendations when asked. We ordered a ton to bring home with us but the almond croissant was a definite favourite, the peach tart, quiche and sausage roll were also very worth while to order. In terms of drinks the flat white was very smooth and fragrant and the hot chocolate was unreal it was super rich but not overly sweet 🤩 and came with a handmade marshmallow made by bakers. 10/10 recommend
