Cottams Field Brewers Fayre in Lancaster

We hadn’t booked a table but the staff quickly sorted us out , the food was ordered and arrived quickly and was very tasty , we had Haddock and chips . And it was reasonably priced.

We went for breakfast. It was an all you can eat type buffet. Full English with plenty of other options like pancakes and muffins or yogurts. It was very quiet so I couldn't really judge the atmosphere but the service was excellent my hubby walks with sticks and they carried his plate and drinks for him and offered to go and get something when they saw him struggle.

Atmosphere was OK really quiet and relaxed even with the football on! Our server was Callum and his 'service' was hurrendous!! I don't mind people who are laid back but this guy was rude, unattentive and had a 'can't be arsed' attitude! Felt like we were an incovenience! And had to ask for a highchair twice! And then when I went to order food and drinks at the bar he served me again and was yawning right in front of my face (this was 5pm so not early morning or a late night)...he said he will bring our drinks over but before he did I went to ask for the highchair for the second time and he had just poured our drinks, he put them on the bar and said 'eya you grab them' as if I was his colleague!! Genuinely think Callum needs to find a new place of work because his attitude ruined our evening meal to be honest! We were brought our mains by a lovely young girl though (her service level should be a standard across the board)

Food was amazing and staff super friendly.

Used to come here and eat outside with my dog often. Turned up recently and was told it has certainly never been dog friendly, despite the fact that a different staff member used to bring us out water bowl and dog treats on each visit...very odd. Was looked at like I was a liar. Won't be returning my custom here unfortunately.

We called in for tea on the way home from a busy day out. We were quickly seated and chose what we wanted to eat and went to order. I went to the bar to order and the young man was very polite. When o came to pay I said I had a blue light card with 25% off. The man’s attitude changed and he spoke to me in a patronising/cocky way. I paid the bill and went back to the table. I looked at the bill and wasn’t given the 25% off so I went back to the bar and the same young man said ‘you’ve got cheap kids meal deals’ (£6.49 for 3 courses) what more do you want?’ I explained it was supposed to be off the whole bill as that’s what my app said. He said it’s already off when clearly it isn’t. He wouldn’t do anything about it so I went back to the table for tea. When the food came, my children had veg sticks and corn as their sides. All of which were completely dry so weren’t eaten. We had scampi/fish and chips and had bread on the side. My bread was stale around the edges. We tried to get the attention of waitresses walking by but were blanked so just left it. Once we had eaten someone came to take the plates away and I said about the veg and bread and the reply I got was ‘oh, have you ordered puddings?’ The children had ordered puddings and we had to wait 20 min for them to come. All very nice until we had a blue light card. Won’t visit again.

We ate here on our way to and from Scotland to break our journey up. Both occasions we had evening meal and breakfast . No complaints from us for our food. All the servers were welcoming and professional , they have a great team here ! Big shout out to Sophie who was very friendly to all her guests - she also remembered us on our second visit.

What a fabulous place! Was expecting the standard brewers fayre type restaurant but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and it was cooked to perfection. There's a small soft play type area in the restaurant for the younger ones to burn off some steam. Staff were brilliant and I couldn't ask for more from them. Definitely worth a visit

Poor generally. General feeling that the staff couldn't wait to finish. Couldn't get a pudding because the kitchen was closed, staff didn't advise it would be closing. Brought out main courses before collecting the starter plates and before we had all finished our starters. Sweeping the floor around us while we were eating our dinner a good 45 mins before they were due to close. Won't bother again!

Only problem I had with my visit was the attitude of staff, particularly one guy who puts on a fake smile, not great customer service at all, won’t be back in a hurry!

Wouldn't recommend for a special occasion, food was bland, missing items, onion rings overcooked and oily, I asked for new ones to be made and they did, but the first bite of new badge and I found they fried a first layer of an onion, the one that is usually rotten and you put it to bin, how cheap you must be to fry it serve to customer, over 3 pounds for 6 onion rings and you get one thats rotten. Staff were only pretending to be nice, all our visit I felt like a huge inconveniance and bother to them, just a middle finger was missing when a waiter brought 3 pouches of ketchup and threw them on a table. I did say thank you and sorry. Also why do you have to go and order at till and pay prior when there are 5 waiting staff and 3 only tables taken. May as well bring my own sandwich next time. Oh wait, we're not going back, almost forgot.

Nice straightforward and affordable pub food. Menu has a really good range with plenty of options (salad instead of a burger bun, anyone?), bottomless soft drinks, nice staff and speedy service. Only gripe is that the menus were sticky and unpleasant.

Worst place I've ever eaten we got 2 children's margarita pizzas and a sharing platter of barbecue chicken wings which was what looked like 2 iceland 49p pizzas and 4 little chicken wings to share between 2 people and the food cost us nearly £20 absolutely disgusting. If I knew how to I'd of put a photo up of our food

Food nice. 2 female staff were absolutely useless. Just talking to each other. No smiles. Nothing polite. Really put us all off!!!

Booked a table as my hubby wanted to take me for dinner after I had been at work all week to be told by a member of the kitchen team not to bother going has all bookings had been cancelled due to a medical emergency in the kitchen and that there was only 1 member of kitchen staff on This is the 2nd time this has happened as the first visit was for my birthday at the end of may and was told that there was nothing available for over 2 hrs and had to find somewhere else to go for a meal for the family will not be going back. The first visit staff were very rude and not very helpful.

Took our son this afternoon for lunch and for soft play. Food was fine. Came to soft play and the staff measured my 8 year old son and denied him access because he was too tall by half an inch. Had to console my son in the car whilst he sat asking ‘I’m just a kid why can’t I play’. Eight years old and that’s how you treat him. Disgusting staff.

Had a great meal for my wife's birthday was accommodated really well but spilt over tables when long table would have been better

Stayed at the Premier Inn so chose this for ease. Typical pub food nothing special. However, I'm Coeliac and the staff were extremely helpful and attentive for gluten free evening meal and breakfast.

I recently dined at Cotton Field Brewer Faire and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with tasteful decor that created a cozy yet upscale atmosphere. The service was impeccable. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Now, onto the food—absolutely divine! Very busy due to it being fathers day. Didn't quite know what to make of it as I've tried other brewers fayres in the past and not got through the door as staff were uninterested. Here however, friendly attentive staff and interior of pub clean and tidy. Due to the amount of people I expected to wait a while for food but both meals came out within 20 or so mins so quicker than expected. My portion of Katsu chicken was a little small for my liking but overall piping hot and generally tasty. My mother had the steak and ale pie with chips and peas and was a decent quality for the price paid. Overall better quality food than some higher priced table table pubs we have visited in the north west. Would visit here again

We always have a lovely time here. The staff really look after you. The soft play is fab as well and the food is always really good quality. Its always a great experience.

Not a bad place to get a simple meal. The only problem we encountered was the poor attitude of the guy taking our order behind the bar, obnoxious at best. The rest of staff seemed pleasant and the food was OK. Pity one bad apple can ruin the experience.

Called in here for Sunday lunch when driving from Leeds back home to Aberdeenshire. Booked a table online when we were at Forton services and arrived early but seated straight away. We both went for the carvery, large for me, and everything was pretty much spot on. Good choice of meat and the veg was ok by carvery standards, decent choice and while some had obviously been sat there a while it was tasty. But seriously whose idea was it to mash parsnips with carrots, parsnips are the devils food and should never be allowed to tarnish my carrots. They also serve Guinness zero, from a can, which definitely compliments the meal. 😁

Bought a mixed grill , could not believe how small a portion it was , won't be having one there again

Called in for food after returning from a long day of walking . Ordered a couple of mixed grills and a kids sausage and mash . Food tasted great specially the gammon ! I would recommend anyone eats at this restaurant .

Liam helped me with me my little boy , my toddle was being hard work about a beetle (found outside ) that’s he wanted to save ) and Liam got us a cup to “save” the beetle .. May not sound like much but when you have a child and someone helps ?? It’s amazing !!! Thankyou Liam !!! Amazing service

Good food but rude staff, Paul the man doing the carvery is so rude and would give you paperthin slice of their meat for an adult size serving. He spoiled the whole experience of wanting a good time with family and friends.

I come here every week to enjoy bottomless cups of coffee and a good chat with a couple of friends. The staff are attentive and friendly and we appreciate having a chat with Nicola whenever she’s there. I’d recommend it

This is a Brewers Fayre. It is the same basic food everywhere so won't review that. The staff however are fantastic. Friendly, chatty and efficient. Not a bad Brewers Fayre.

I had my son's second birthday party the value was great & the atmosphere was good. The kinds enjoyed their food. Great for adults to drink and lunch at the same time too. But most of all, what topped it off and made this day Extra special was the man who hosted the party and looked after us from our booking at the start right until the end. His name was gaz,he was absolutely fabulous. He couldn't have been more attentive and helpful.Great with kids. would highly recommend.

I have been comimg here ever since i was little and everytime it manages to please. Would totally recommend to all ages, particularly families as the soft play area is brilliant for kids.

Food generally was good, but the coffee machine SERVED LUKEWARM COFFEE!!! Ruined the whole experience. Otherwise food was good, and so was the staff, and atmosphere. Bad Coffee really ruined the experience, makes me think twice about coming again.

Hygiene training required. The male greeter on duty cleaning tables but doesn't replace all fresh cutlery from the previous customer. We was staying next door at the premiere Inn and had two breakfasts and a evening meal. So glad we was leaving that day.

Fabulous food, service was great. Really enjoyed our meal.

Delicious breakfast and very friendly service from a local lady in charge who was interested in our day out in Lancaster (we are from elsewhere in England). Toilets really bad though. Please fully refurbish both men and women's toilets.

I've had my breakfast and evening meal here for the majority of the last 3 weeks, and the service has been excellent, the food is good quality for the price point, but it really is the staff that make the difference, Sophie was amazing, so friendly and helpful, always smiling! And Sharmane was fantastic too, always happy to help with a smile. All of the staff were friendly and helpful but these 2 ladies in particular deserve a special mention!

Food and drink is going down hill at all Premier Inns, can't even get a glass of orange juice anymore

Have been here several times, food is always good and service is OK as well. However, there is a problem with opening times. You can book a table until 10.30 pm on the website, but when we went at 8.50 pm on Sunday, we were told it was closed! Not sure if the staff just wanted to leave early... Management need to look into this, and give out accurate info to booking customers.

Served by a wonderful gentleman called Gazza lovely oxford lad who tried above and beyond any expectation to fulfil our requirements. One manager tried what he could and asked the kitchen much to my amazement scampi could not be added to steak so we paid for an additional meal £11.19 just to get the required scampi. They couldn’t change chips to plain potato dippers so paid £5.09 for this too (they didn’t offer fries or chip’s without skin. Unfortunately is this is not an option for us. Coleslaw was missing, accidents happen. Everything was as expected. Besides my utter disgust at one one manger Mark over looking the above Gaz whilst serving us with complete attention on us as the customer. Whilst waiting for our meal this Mark was stomping around the restaurant moving the salt, peeper, menu, cutlery he either desired attention or wanted to look busy. My opinion as a customer and this evening observations Mark is clearly a bully and wants to progress and will throw anyone under the bus in his path, it was visible how uncomfortable staff were in his presence. Other customers could clearly see this too. Shocking really… Thank you Gazza for a wonderful service ❤️ Edit: I originally scored a 4/5 for the benefit of the rest of the staff. However, we returned for breakfast due to staying at the premier inn next door. The same manager was on. He felt the need to embarrass us as customers, refused to serve an already paid for breakfast. Called us liars as he had seen this FACTUAL review. Complaining he was alone, and he felt ‘threatened’ unnecessarily pointing out the cameras. He is clearly a power hungry bully who doesn’t like the truth, maybe if he accepted feedback staff would be happy to work with him and staff retention will improve.

A very negative experience for our family meal out for Mother’s Day. The manager was rude from the moment we walked through the door. Was not happy to even entertain our requests in an empty restaurant as we were the first customers in. We travelled from Kendal for the family atmosphere and play area. Seated our family on two tables which couldn’t even see each other despite all other tables being empty (some re-jigging could have been done, as this request was made on booking a month ago) Tried to rush us to vacate the table before we had even been served our desserts. Mid dessert a member of staff was sent ‘by his boss’ to tell us we had 2 minutes to leave. We had just spent more money on the kids play area, and at no point during booking or arriving were we told there was a limit on the time at the table. When we didn’t vacate at their demand, we were threatened with the police. Had it not been for the fact that A. It’s Mothers Day and B. We had our kids and Nan with us, we would have allowed them to escalate this due to having no cause. An absolute shambles, feel for the lovely bar lady and man and waiter who we had good dealings with that have to work under such awful people. Not how you expect to be treat, especially when we spent over £300.00. Time to leave the hospitality sector I think…..

Plenty of food but only just warm from the carvery Asked for it warmed up which they did, came back not much warmer ,I like my Sunday carvery hot Been twice now ,once at Christmas, and on Sunday 25th feb ,the meal wasn't good at Christmas, cant blame it on being too busy ,because it wasn't busy ,not surprised really !!!!! Staff were great

Tried here randomly last night. I had the mixed grill with peppercorn sauce I wasn't too keen on the sauce it was lacking so much flavour. Overall food was okay not the best mixed grill I've had but the price you can't complain. I really enjoyed the gammon it was tasty. Not alot to pick from the menu especially if you don't eat bread. My son had a chicken tikka curry the curry had about 5 small pieces of chicken and way too much sauce. He ate it all + was still hungry after it which isn't usually like him to be hungry straight after eating. Restaurant is clean + staff are friendly too.

Could have been better, but usually find it is hit and miss here. Either too busy, not enough staff, but when it's quiet they also can get it wrong. Staff are friendly.

Went for breakfast this morning. bread for toast was stale/soggy like it had been defrosted in a microwave. Asked nicely if they had any fried bread and got a very negative angry reply from two staff members. Picture on menu clearly shows fried bread, but because its not listed on the menu they instead of saying sorry sir we don't have it. they made me feel unwelcome by their attitude. Considering i had paid just about £10 for the breakfast i think it could have been a lot better. I wont be having a breakfast from there again.

We were pleasantly surprised after reading some previous reviews, so glad that we gave it a chance here. We were welcomed as soon as we arrived and shown to our table . The staff were all really friendly and welcoming and our food was lovely. They also have a great play area for the kids and although we arrived half an hour before the play area closed they were happy to let our 7 year old join in.

Food okay but not the best, plenty of room, drinks are reasonable and you can get refillables

We took an 18 month old who loved the play area. I had sausage and mash and thoroughly enjoyed it. Refillable drinks too. For 2 meals, drinks and a side of sweetcorn plus baby's fun it cost £18. Staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Without doubt the worst meal I have had in a very long time. My wife and I had gammon which was luke warm at best. When I sent it back it came back warmish. That was the whole meal. I wish we had taken the kids to macdonalds. Never ever again.

I came here just the other day with my child, may I be clear, he suffers with alopecia and is severely disabled - we expected an all inclusive experience for neurodivergents but whoopee doo, not in here it ain't. My son came through the door in his wheel chair and was greeted with nasty children hollering ableist slurs in his face and I couldn't get him into the playing area without kids following him and spitting in his hair, calling him patchy plops or some stupid sℎɪᴛ. The food was stone cold and I nearly cʜᴏᴋed on a 7 inch hair left inside my yorkshire pud.. the toilets are state to behold and my son found diarrhea in the disabled toilet stall. Up your standards and get with the times! It's 2024

We went here New Year's Eve on the way to the theatre. Great and speedy service and nice food. the chef servIng at the carvery was very pleasant. We had both meat and non meat meals.

Staff are too tired to resolve issues. Very unfriendly and unhelpful. Then the next day the manager wanted to discuss my complaint in the open restaurant in between all the guest. So unprofessional and he talked over me and gave me no time to put my point over. Could not wait to walk out there!! So sad that service delivery is not a priority there anymore.

Christmas evening meal.Prawn cocktail with half a teaspoon of Marie rose sauce, this should be plentyfull, lovely prawns but the wrong type of lettuce. Always should be iceburgh for prawn cocktail or it looks floppy and watery. Lovely turkey dinner with vege, the turkey was spot on. Pudding was perfect as it came from a packet, hard to get that wrong. One aspect which stood out to all of us was the manager, a bit of a Basil Fawlty, needing all the attention as much as possible. We wanted to be left in peace but that wasn't happening. Ok in all but a place geared around families with kids, perfect for that as the manager can entertain them whilst you eat!

Went as a family for my granddaughter birthday. The play area was closed which the children were upset. We ordered the festive meal and was told not available. Ordered a cheese burger and was told not available. Has to have the fish and chips which on arrival was a disappointment. The batter on the fish was soggy and the chips were cold. Didn't want complain as it was a family meal and didn't want to upset the children. But was very angry and the staff didn't seem to be bothered that they didn't have the food available.

Clean, friendly and value for money.

The whole experience was amazing. My nephew ate most of his meal and noticed a tiny onion, which he hates. The staff were AMAZING 👏 brought a whole brand new meal for him. This was particularly kind as my nephew has additional needs. Nothing was questioned and the whole time we were there was just great. Staff, food everything was top quality. We'll definitely be back! Usual Brewers Fayre experience for me. I find these places pretty decent inside with food that's nice 95%of the time. Excellent places for a family to go as well Quite as lot of them are tied up with a hotel as well if your travelling long distances. I've used them for years and will continue to do so.

I had a very poor 1☆ vegan Christmas meal with slimy sprouts but the vegan sundae was 5☆. The children enjoyed the play area and I think the others in our party enjoyed their meals.

At the moment Brewers have got it right keep it up so easy to go down. Only problem is a bit noisy with play area.

Carvery meat tiny portions. Taste ok. Nothing special. The veg looked like frozen veg. It was all Luke warm and not piping hot as expected. We do not recommend the carvery. Compared to the Toby carvery just up the road a bit it was awful. For what we paid we could have got toby carvery’s for the same price. Better quality and nothing that looks like frozen veg. Frozen roast potatoes and frozen stuffing balls and Yorkshire puddings. Nothing was made fresh. Sorry to say we won’t be back. We use brewers fayres all over the place and have always been impressed but not this place.
