Popped in for lunch with my husband. They have some great vegan and gluten free options and a wonderful vegan and gluten free cake! Nice venue, handy location off the main street, and the head waitress was absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly friendly, but also very knowledgeable and really looked after us, making sure we had a great visit.

Now called Urban Kitchen. Cafe is lovely and cosy, breakfast is delicious. Had a wonderful vegetarian breakfast which came with vegetarian sausages and bacon which is a treat, the meat breakfast was also apparently delicious with local sausages and bacon. Price includes a drink and works out very reasonable. Ice creams are also lovely!

Now called Urban Kitchen. Group of five turned up unannounced for a pre wedding breakfast. The Croque-Madame was outrageous, and the cooked breakfast was very very good with hash browns that were crispier than any I’ve ever had. The staff were friendly and accommodating. In the interest of honesty and fairness, the flat white could have been a little less milky but I’ve been spoiled living in the south. The filter coffee was perfectly good. We were very satisfied and the price was very competitive

Great Find In Navenby today finding the Urban Cafe after a good mornings walk. Friendly efficient service with a smile and plenty of choice including Ice Creams. We had coffees and a toastie and jacket tate which were well presented and very tasty. Good outside seating as well and will be back.

We called in for a takeaway lunch. Nice rolls will fillings and nice coleslaw. But order 2 lots of fries with cheese, which were awful. Under the Cheese there was small black bits everywhere?? Then found at least 3 large pieces (about half the size of a pea) of charcoal/burnt something. I guess they put everything from the frier into the container ?? Just not sure how they can think a customer would appreciate this ?? There is the odd burnt chip, but come on this was just wrong.

Always assured of a warm welcome when we call in here en route to Yorkshire. Have been eating here for nearly ten years. This a no-nonsense, well run cafe in the traditional sense, with no pretensions to be anything else. There are very few of these types of café left and we will continue to support this business when we are in the area. To this end we visited on Saturday 24 and again today (Monday 26) on our homeward journey. PS. In reference to an earlier negative comment, since when was "no music" cause to complain? Some of us prefer good conversation!

Been going here for several years. Always find a friendly welcome from the staff. My wife says it's the tastiest breakfast she's ever had. Good value too. Always seem to be other customers in despite it being a fairly small concern so it's obviously popular with the locals ,passing cyclists and workmen.

We called in today for something to eat we ordered a breakfast each and I must say it was a good size with good old black pudding!! The service we received from the two ladies was great and could not fault them! They asked if everything was OK and if we needed anything else just to ask them! They was very chatty to myself and partner and made us feel very welcome. Well done ladies be seeing you again when we are next in the area.

We just popped in on our way through on a cold Saturday afternoon, not looking for anything fancy just somewhere to warm up halfway through a cold bike ride. Sadly despite the steamed up windows it was soooo cold in there my teeth started to chatter and as we had just finished our food the waitress asked if we were cold and then put the fan heater on. Anyway back to the food, the menu choices were great, and after waiting a good ten minutes (it wasn’t busy) we found some nice vegetarian paninis so ordered them. Clarifying a couple of times with the waitress (who were nice) that we wanted just Brie and cranberries no bacon, they turned up shortly after this. The Brie and cranberry was fine, but sadly the mozzarella, tomato and basil tasted of nothing, not even basil, as sadly this was just dried basil :( it came with a nice little side salad, but the tomatoes were also clearly quite old too as the skin was really wrinkly.

I visited here today with my partner, as soon as we walked in there was a waft of a greasy spoon cafe. We were pretty peckish so quickly grabbed a table which had dirt on th table cloth. The menu had quite a good selection to choose from but when my partner went to order a chicken panini, we were told there was no chicken. Quite disappointing as a pretty staple ingredient in any eatery? He therefore ordered a ham, tomato and cheese one. I ordered a scone and we shared a pot of tea. The pot of tea arrived soon after, from looking the teas on display were Asda own brand which doesnt really live up to the 'tearoom' name? My scone arrived and was cold so I asked for it to be heated up, the waitress took it off me and bunged it straight in the microwave and brought back to me, it was spongy and chewy but because I was hungry I ate it. The microwave seemed to be going quite a lot in the time we sat there. My partner's panini came and it was served with salad and coleslaw, we had to ask for cutlery! We fancied some cake but decided to get out and go somewhere else due to the stent of frying so asked the waitress for the bill. She came back and told us how much and took the card then just did contactless without asking us! It's safe to say we won't be going back in a hurry!

Great location, in very attractive, bustling village. Tons of potential - unrealised. Food was well cooked and tasty, coffee was good/excellent but the hygiene standards were not the greatest. Rice on the bench table outside at 10am, sticky sauce bottles, too minging to describe further and apathetic service. Manager/owner was bored stiff and the decor owed more to the 20th century than the 21st. Won't be going back, mostly because there are other options.

We went into the Cottage cafe this afternoon. We asked the waiter to clear the table as it had half eaten food all over it, not an unreasonable request one would have thought. This turned out to be a bad idea, it seems the man doesn't take kindly to customers requests, he reluctantly cleared it bit by bit in an annoyed manner. He may have become concerned that we might ask for some food or even drinks as he started to serve people who had come in five minutes after us. We were quite blatantly ignored but that may have been a good thing, as we went somewhere else, which was very pleasant. The food may have been fine, but service is just as important.

Popped in for a coffee and ordered a coke and a roll. My husband ordered a cream tea and I changed my mind and asked for a scone with my coke. He brought out coke, black coffee and 2 horrible, dry scones with a bowl of jam and small portion of clotted cream. I decided not to complain about the scones as we thought we would just never come again but didn't want to upset the owners as it's a small independent tea shop. Anyway.... I went to pay and he charged me TEN POUNDS!!!! I told him he must be wrong but he said I had to pay for a whole cream tea even though I never even asked for tea plus I had to pay for my coke. Disgusting!! I only had 9 pounds and told him this so he said that will have to do. I told him I was disgusted with that price but he was unapologetic. I will definitely not recommend this tea room.

Without rambling on for too long, this is simply one of the best cafes I've ever visited. Not a single thing to fault. Lovely, cosy interior, great menu with very reasonable prices and then food prepared perfectly and served by what is clearly a locally / family run small business. Couldn't have asked for more, and wouldn't have as I was already full! Also, let's not overlook the bottomless teapot, that make this a firm 5* cafe.
