Cottage Home in Gateshead

My partner has to order at the bar as we can't have chips with a meal & require a salad substitute. We have learnt from experience to get a receipt, this time apparently they could not provide one, but gave a photo on his phone of what they had charged. When he arrived back at the table with the drinks he checked the receipt & found that he had been overcharged. The meals had been put through minus the alcoholic drink option, & the drinks had been charged for separately. He went back to the bar to sort it out. Within a few minutes an awful female member of staff swooped on our table, grabbed my gin & tonic from under my nose & said 'I'm taking this away as its a double'. My partner never orders doubles. She came back later with another drink, plonked it on the table & walked away. Such pettiness & god knows what she did with the original drink which I had taken a sip from. After all it was all their cockup in the first place. Terribly nasty behaviour in my opinion.

Me and the family came here for Sundays mothers day dinner, mainly due to Corey, pub manager. Anywhere Corey works as a chef I follow because the quality/presentation of food is always 10/10 and I'm a very particular, ocd, espergers, attention to detail and quality. When we arrived I was disappointed to hear he wasn't chef today but thought with him being here the place must be good and the standards would be of similar grade, so we were eager to see what the food was like. Ok to start, prawns cocktail looked and appeared average, although the lettuce had black on it so I'm assuming spoilt and not fresh. Garlic mushrooms weren't great, ill expand further,, bread was OK, wild mushrooms appeared half cooked, small amount, and the sauce was watery and bitter, not the usual thickness as you would imagine it to be. Slow roast beef was of 2 different cuts, a few portions were as described no complaints there, but the other few cuts were impossible to cut and pull and completely different standard, definitely not as described see attached video of the beef. Mash was average, carrots were slightly charred, puddings were average, gravy was OK, highlight was the sweed which was very nice, a few lumps in it as I like it and nice texture. Overall, hospitality was good, very attentive, bottles of lemonade were very small. But food wise, very disappointing, will not return until proper standards are met.

Not dog friendly. I used to spend good money here, but not anymore. It used to be a great place under old management.

Got fish and chips for me n my wife to take away seemed nice but woke up in the middle of the night crippled with h belly pain it was coming out both ends thought it was just me but now the wife is in the same situation absolutely no good like
