Côte Canterbury in Canterbury

Lovely starter although the 'warm' tomato salad, wasn't warm...it was delicious. The mushroom bourrguignon has clumps of what looked like beef, but was apparently mushroom, it would have been better as a mushroom dish without the fake beef looking chunks, and the was little sauce with it...quite a dry dish. Pudding, creme caramel, was yummy!!

Lovely little place. Was fairly quiet when I visited this evening, however I can imagine it would be lively at weekends. Service was cordial, food was delicious and at a very reasonable price. Chosen for their evident consideration for those with food issues. Would eat there again if I'm ever in the area.

Food very bad, tuna steak burnt and smelled and tasted like grilled meat. Service very very very slow. In the end, we didn’t get the main dish for child and had to leave, and we were there more than 1 hour. Bill charging though was very fast. Payed for everything and didn’t get everything we ordered. Asked for menager but didn’t come. Worst ever everything! And the best in the end, there was hair in fries!!!

Went for a nice meal out tonight however was extremely disappointed! Food was mediocre but nothing to complain about, but the service was absolutely terrible. We went in around 7:50 and it just felt as if they wanted us out, we ordered dessert and cancelled it during our main course as we were spoke to very rudely and we wanted to leave as soon as we could. The worst service i’ve experienced in a while, made sure to keep the receipt with our servers name on too!

Popped into Cote for a pre-theatre meal and were warmly welcomed. We were served and looked after by Laura who ensured we had an enjoyable meals of Chicken and Fish parmentar. The restraunt could benefit by having subtle background music to warm the atmosphere as its relaxing to hear while dining. We will definately will visit again.

Absolutely trash, would look better if staff didn't turn up with clothes iron instead of horrible creases, missing 2 drinks i ordered took ages to come , burger was fine shame chips were cold , won't be going here again

We were a bunch of friends catching up after a while. We were there for 3 hours chatting, eating and drinking. We were not hurried and the service was friendly and welcoming.

Lovely steak here. We had the three course set menu which made it a good price. Wouldn’t recommend the charcuterie board, but would recommend the crispy whitebait for starters. I have a dairy allergy and the restaurant was very accommodating, showing me a list of all the ingredients and leaving an allergy flag on all of my meals. Food came quickly and service was good.

A pleasant meal, spoilt only by the dessert crêpes which seemed to have been prepared some hours previously and zapped in the microwave. In fairness, the waiter took them off the bill.

Having been here for breakfast a few years back it was very delightful, a group of us came for dinner and we was not disappointed, the food the ambiance and the service was all top notch. We felt so sorry for the management as some table next to us refused to pay there bill and then walked out because the recipe of some dish had changed.. so bizzare society. Anyhow I would recommend trying this French restaurant

Nice meal, good food quality and nice atmosphere

It is a good place to go, friendly service, main evening meals are very nice. But this time I decided to go for breakfast. Which was nice, but it was cold. Still nice and good service. Maybe it was just me. It won't stop me from going again.

Lovely breakfast at 9am on a Saturday when not so many places open. Service was good, friendly but not obtrusive. Customer toilets are on top (3rd) floor. Not sure if there's provision on lower floors for easy access ones, but worth asking before sitting down if that'd be a problem for you.

As we were about to leave the restaurant after a very pleasant meal at about 9pm my husband was taken ill and an ambulance was called. In the two hours before it arrived the staff and a few customers could not have been more supportive. A particular thank you goes to our lovely waitress, Maria, who did everything possible to make my husband comfortable as he lay on the floor. First class service in a difficult situation. Our deep-felt thanks go out to all concerned. I am pleased to say that he has made a complete recovery.

We called into Coté in Canterbury on a whim on a wet Friday. As ever nice food and good service. I much prefer this Coté to ones I have tried in London and don’t offer the same level of service and although it is a standard menu it always seems better served in Canterbury.

We went here on a whim on a Monday evening. Lovely space, allergies easily accommodated. Food was served quickly and was soooo tasty! Would visit again! Will caveat the bathrooms are up 3 sets of steps, I had injured my ankle and was therefore unable to use - may be a consideration for those without full mobility.

Having been in on several different occasions, both for Breakfast and Dinner I have yet to have a disappointing experience! Every meal is a perfect, service and dish are always absolutely spot on! Of all the places in Canterbury this is the one that you must visit for delicious food served in beautiful surroundings,in the city centre. Thank you.

Surprisingly very good food. The calamari was the best I ever tasted. The beef bourguignon was very nice. The staff was very friendly.

After making a booking for a table of 4, initially everything seemed fine. Although half our party had to send their starters back that had not been cooked fully. We then realised we were seated next to a large group who were shouting louder and louder and swearing constantly at each other as the wine kept being served. Midway through our main course we asked to be moved, the restaurant was only half full and shortly after another table also asked to be moved. Bizarrely the 'manager' was surprised our experience didn't meet our expectations and when we explained our night had been ruined, he explained it wasn't 'their place to ask other dinners to keep the noise down'. All in all it was a ruined birthday meal the restaurant staff should have managed the situation proactively and talked to us rather than ignore us, knowing our experience was awful rather than ignoring us and hoping we would not complain.

So pleasant to have good French styled food in the British high street, where the competition is mainly Asian or Italian themed!

We came in today for a coffee but the service was terrible! We were put right in the corner and ignored. When asked for the coffee menu we we’re told we can order any coffee very rudely. We were upset and just walked out. Do not recommend going here. So disappointed!!!!

Very quiet Monday 1pm. Food was excellent and good value. A lovely birthday treat.

We had the Christmas menu and it was all substandard for that place compared to previous times, but the worst was the cream brulee it was not cream and it was overcooked

Comme les autres commentaires, prennent les touristes pour des "vaches à lait" la note arrive et on ajoute supplément bacon non demandé à 1 livre et on compte une sauce au poivre demandé avec le steak à 4 livres mais sans en avoir informé le client qui demandait cela à la place du beurre à l'ail...., et on compte 9 livres de service et bien à ce prix là il fallait qu'il brunch avec nous....encore aurait il fallu que ce soit le même serveur qui prenne la commande, débarrasse et encaisse mais non trois différents comme cela ça met le client en confusion pour l'encaissement. J'ai tout pointé, j'ai fait la gueule, je déteste la malhonnêteté. Cela a été remboursé et des excuses. Mais aucune sincérité. Je déconseille fortement ce lieu. Il a fallu demander la carte à part pour les brunchs ....le samedi midi...donc pourquoi l'afficher à l'extérieur ? Pour pièger le client ensuite ? Le post qui dit avoir payé 100 euros pour trois entrées, plats, boissons, café ne peut être que mensonger. Déjà c'est en livres sterling et ensuite la carte 4 plats est à 40 livres sterling par personne. Donnée en premier au client....bref un accueil déplorable, pas d'ambiance musicale. Un mauvais moment. Peu copieux même pour deux plats et 3 brunchs...le steak frites hyper mince, avec "2 frites qui se battent en duel" pour 15 Livres....très moyen, on est loin de la France qui est généreuse dans les assiettes et loin du Royaume Uni donc on a pas compris le but de cette brasserie en plein coeur de la rue piétonne si ce n'est un attrape nigauds malhonnête.... désolée mais très décevant et cela met la honte pour emmener des gens qu'on invite. Autant un bon Mac DO à ce niveau là !!!!!!

Cotê in Canterbury offers a dining experience that requires patience. Opting for the Le Exclusive menu, priced at £38 for 4 courses, we started with a choice between bread and olives. Unfortunately, the forgotten butter and underseasoned bread led to a slow start. The crab maison and warm beetroot salad were a mixed bag—unsatisfactory crab but a delightful beetroot salad with a tasty black garlic dressing. Mains arrived prematurely, prompting a request to delay, which turned into a 20-minute wait. Despite this, the fish parmentier shone with its excellent preparation and delicious mash. However, dessert menus were slow to arrive, and the spiced crème brûlée and salted caramel tart, while enjoyable, had a more chocolate ganache quality than expected. Regrettably, the overall experience was marred by subpar service, overshadowing the promising moments in the culinary offerings at Cotê.

My family and I visited Cote in Canterbury for my Father's birthday lunch. It was busier than one might imagine for a Tuesday afternoon. It's a cosy outfit and some of the clientele around us were loud and uncouth, but that isn't necessarily Cote's fault. One observation - the coat stand at the rear of the restaurant can only really hold a dozen or so coats and, for a party of five, this meant putting out coats on top of other peoples'. We didn't get an opportunity to thank Nathan for the service he provided us - he was very attentive and catered to some of our seemingly trivial queries.

The food was great, the service was fast, and we got a wine tasting by the glass!

Popped in after a day off sight seeing hadn't booked and it was a Friday night but no problem, opted for the set menu, service from Aga was excellent and food was beautiful, highly recommended!

A good place to watch the pedestrians walk by. Alin was our server and he was attentive and pleasant. I had the vegetarian platter and it was something I would get again.

Typische Brasserie Atmosphäre. Das Poulet Breton war gut zubereitet. Das Hähnchen war nicht zu trocken und hatte sehr wenig Knochen auch geschmacklich Okay. Der Gratin Dauphinois Okay. Das Chocolate Mousse ein wenig zuviel Zucker. Der Chateau Treiviac durchschnittlich. Der Espresso zu leicht. Der Service war freundlich und das Essen kam relativ schnell, preislich soweit in Ordnung. Die Toiletten sollten näher liegen. Letztendlich hat man noch 10% Service Charge ungefragt auf die Rechnung gestellt

Went for lunch, Place was booked so I recommend a reservation on a weekend. The menu looked good so was expecting it to be good. Appetizers like the garlic bread and French onion soup were really good, but the mains disappointed. The presentation of some dishes, especially the steak frites was lacking. Overall, not bad but wouldn’t choose to Go again.

Lovely branch of Cote in a beautiful building right on the main street through Canterbury. It's in a little square with a terrace which is perfect for people watching. Busy when we went. The staff were charming and working very hard because it was packed. Simple and delicious french food. Great atmosphere. It's in a buzzing part of town so perfect for a tourist holiday vibe.

A beautiful sunny day- what day better for lunch on the terrace at Cote? All very mediterranean! A warm welcome and excellent service from Zack. Attentive, professional and friendly. An extensive a la carte menu and together with specials of the day gave our party plenty of choice. For starters the calamari were crisp and delicious, the cheese souffle tasty and light and the Salad Rachel beautifully presented. For mains Tuna Nicoise perfectly cooked and presented, Mussels and chips freshly cooked delicious, a great Cote burger and mushroom quiche. And to finish a really good creme caramel and cream and some quality ice cream and expressos. Highly recommended- have been before will certainly visit again!

I had lunch in this cosy restaurant at the seafront. The food was very delicious and the environment was calm and quiet. The staff was of friendly attitude.

We all know that the mid-market restaurant is under a lot of pressure, so a “chain” has to have its values and training just right in order to consistently stand out. Over the last couple of years Cote has really upped its game and is very much our go-to place for a light lunch as we travel around, unless there is a stand out local place. Yesterday we were in Canterbury and, again the service was great and our food ( sea bream and a nicoise salad) was both well prepared and presented on the plate, with a reasonably priced glass of wine to support. The cost is reasonable for what you get - not for the everyday but worth the money for what they offer. The tips go to all the staff I gather. The front of house team were great. A restaurant can’t create an atmosphere on its own, but the buildings have character and are well located, so there tends to be a bit of a buzz. Other great ones include Salisbury , Bath, Oxford and Cambridge. Well worth giving them a go if it’s your sort of thing and well done to them.

I have never had less than stellar service at any branch of Côte. This was my first visit to the Canterbury branch and it fully lived uo to my high expectations. Super efficient, professional but friendly service, lovely food especially the seam bream Nantaise. Big windows fill the room with light. Lovely relaxing atmosphere

A party of three, waiting staff exceptional. Food pleasant, but to be honest not anymore than a 3 star. For instance the quiche I would have called a mushroom and egg tart, that lacked taste and volume. No vegetables on the other two dishes, you had to order as a side. Nothing very impressive.

My mum and I came in this morning for an early breakfast. Service was friendly, the food came out super quick and fresh! It was the tastiest breakfast I’ve ever had!!! And a really reasonable price. Would recommend 100%

We sat outside in the sunshine and if you prefer shade there is also plenty. I had the steak with frites and a meteor beer and my wife Croque Monsieur and a coffee. It is a bit disappointing that the steak no longer comes with some green beans and sadly the Croque Monsieur was not good with thick dry bread and not very tasty. It still remains my restaurant of choice in Canterbury but it seems they have reduced portion sizes and cut some corners to stay competitive in price.

Eat here regularly and always enjoy our meal.

Bit on the expensive side but very nice

Like most places these days it is a chain, this is not always bad, some are very good. I am sorry to say this is not one of them. The food was OK, the service was without a smile and the atmosphere was like an empty house after the party had finished. i.e. happiness gone and a little bit sad. You can try it if you like but I am not going back.

Booked a table at Cote because me and my mum love the beef bourguignon. We sat and ordered drinks and then when the waitress came back we both ordered it only to be told that they didn't have any. First of all we should have been told when we were say and if not then when we ordered drinks. Then after choosing something else my friend who can't eat much ordered a kids chicken and chips which came out stone cold. The waitress asked if she wanted it reheated! Or redone, obviously she asked for it to be remade and after waiting another 15 minutes the same piece of chicken came out. At this point we were nearly finished with ours so she ate a bit of it and we paid and left. Incredibly disappointed.

Exceptional food, Poulet Breton & Sea Bass were delicious

Friendly attentive staff with tasty food at a very competitive price. Our server Bradley Lains was very pleasant and a credit to the restaurant. It was 5pm on a Wednesday afternoon when we visited and the restaurant was quiet which contributed to our 4 stars for atmosphere. We had 1 x Fish Parmentier and 1 x Chicken Paillard salad with some truffle fries - both meals were delicious and accompanied by the house wines.

Eten was prima, twee gangen menu. Super lieve bediening. Mooi verzorgd restaurant en terras. Minpuntje de toiletten is op tweede etage.

Went there to get a lavender plant but they didn't have any We ordered a coffee and a hot chocolate and a sausage roll it's a pity they only had one as they were very nice Had to share it

was served by a wonderful young man but i didnt manage to catch his name. he had a nose ring and earrings, and was from iran. totally lovely and friendly, went above and beyond to make our dinner a lovely experience. hes a wonderful host

Took my husband here last night for dinner,the staff were lovely and helpful. The food was amazing and we definitely be back again.

I have been to Cote restaurants in various cities. The Canterbury my local one, and all have been consistently great. I always know I will get great food, service and value for money. No matter how busy the restaurant, it's usually really worthwhile. Today was the exception. The restaurant was not at all busy, but the service was terrible. Nice people, but more interested in chatting and hydrating themselves than the customers. I had to ask 3 members of staff for some water when I arrived. They informed us they had only just put the wine in the fridge so it was warm. We were given an ice bucket. The majority of the ice had melted and there was a maximum of 3.5" of water in it. It was also splashed on my friend's clothes. I had to ask them to clear our table at the end of the meal. It is not what I expect from Cote. Very disappointed as this is a treat for my friend and I. Will be thinking twice before going back. I never write bad reviews, but I feel this warrants it. Such a shame!

Best cooking in town. Authentic french

In Canterbury for the day, and came across Cote. Restaurant was quiet initially but fairly busy by 20.00 Arrived, greeted politely, and shown to table. Although a table of 4 came in after us, their order was taken before ours - even though we had not looked at menus for several minutes. Food service was fairly slow for this type of restaurant, so much so my Bourguignon was McD hot (potatoes was much hotter) whilst my partner's steak was not even warm. The waiter Sepehr gave his apologies and insisted he replace both meals - excellent service by him. The replacements arrived - both much hotter than before. Unfortunately, the steak was "chewey". My partner didn't want to make a fuss, so she finished the meal. We asked for the bill, which was presented - at the payment point asked if the 2nd meal was better. He was told it was not as good as usual - so he offered us free coffee, which we accepted. A negativesl apart from the food temperature and the steak being not to their usual standard, the manager Alin never came near us. Sepehr was brilliant, but Alin, as the manager let the side down. Upon leaving the restaurant I approached Alin and told he how good Sepehr had been but disappointed by his management style - he claimed he was unaware of my complaint! Sorry, poor management again - it is his job to know what is going on in his restaurant and where his profit is going! Other comments: Toilets are 2 floors up - I would hate to have a mobility problem. Asked another member of staff about this and her response was - "yes, they are a long way up"

Literally the worst Cote I've been to. Outside tables have the pleasure of hearing the Iguana restaurant next door blasting music. 1h15 minutes to go through a 2 course set lunch menu. Forgot our mains obviously, no apologies no nothing. Food not as warm as it should be.

Food really pretty good for a chain. The minute steak and frites was much better than I expected, tender, tasty, nicely cooked. Cocktails are a little wishy washy but the wine was good. Service fine, toilets 2 maybe even 3 flights up, so prepare yourself
