Cote Brasserie - St Pauls in City of London, Westminster

It was disappointing to find that the restaurant is so poorly laid out for a self-service breakfast. We arrived at 7.50am but had to queue in the outer hallway as a restaurant staff member explained ‘we don’t open until 8.00am’ The breakfast diningroom is located in the hotel lower ground floor. Once inside, I saw that the Serving areas were small so diners had to line up in the pathways, thus blocking access to tables. The foods on offer were good, but the limited display areas meant it was hard to see all the dishes at their best. The area for drinks - especially the coffee and tea self-service - had the longest queue. Lack of space and poor accessibility meant the visit was not enjoyable. More worryingly, the main seating area of the downstairs restaurant had a flight of steps in/out. And there were no prominent EXIT signs from that part of the dining-room. With much of the space blocked by diners, it would have been hard to make an exit in any emergency.

Lovely service and good food. We ordered the beef stew which was very tasty. Relaxing environment a d the rice charming waitresses - the usual good Côté menu.

This place sadly is not as good as it used to be. The food was still lovely, but the service we received last night was poor. Waited ages for drinks order to be taken, had to go and ask someone when left for ages after the drinks arrived if we could order food. The starters we asked for came out wrong (one with sauce and one without) - both came up without sauce and when we asked for it to be brought up separately, it didn't arrive at the table. If we had waited any longer, all the starters would have been cold! Had to ask for a second drink - one of which didn't arrive until prompted again. We were not offered any additional sauces when the mains were served, neither did anyone check in during the main course if everything was okay. We then asked for the bill and that took ages to arrive at the table. One of our party had to get a train back to Essex, so when ignored again to pay the bill, we eventually had to go up to the cashier desk to pay. The staff did take off the starter that was incorrect which was a nice gesture (and may I point out that we didn't request that), but all in all, the two course meal for three people took 2 hours and 15 mins. Granted it was fairly busy upstairs (nigh on empty downstairs), but not packed and staff were still putting their coats on during the time we were there and taking regular breaks, as well as arranging glasses at the bar area instead of tending to their diners! Not impressed this time at all and this is a shame as I used to really enjoy coming here. Don't think I will be back again.

Value for money in centre of London. Breakfast is around 15 pounds in which you choose hot drink, breakfast and juice. It's really tasty, and nice size. Staff is really friendly.

A step above chain restaurant food, attentive service, sufficient portions, well prepared and tasty, Seems to be a mix of tourists and people having dinner directly after work. Casual ambiance. We were staying at a hotel across the street. We would return again.

My sister and I enjoyed a super BankHoliday lunch with friendly service and a good atmosphere. We shared the special asparagus sharing starter which was delicious and generous. I had the mussels and she had the sirloin. Each dish was really well done and the bill was reasonable. It made me miss the Cote that used to be in Islington.

Excellent venue for food. We had 2 course prix fix fantastic value and food was excellent. Staff were friendly and our waitress Nailia was wonderful so helpful nothing too much trouble. Overall fantastic experience we will be back

I had a fantastic dining experience with Zarrin as my waitress. Her attentiveness, friendliness, and knowledge of the menu were outstanding. She went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met and that I had a memorable dining experience. Zarrin's professionalism and warm demeanor made me feel valued as a customer. I highly recommend her as a waitress and will definitely be returning to the restaurant to enjoy her exceptional service again.

Christmas Day dinner at St Paul’s Cote, london. As a regular and local visitor I was hoping for a reasonably xmas dinning experience. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be so. The staff we dealt with appeared inexperienced and unfocused. For example we had to prompt staff for our wine which hadn’t arrived when the starters appeared. Overall the food was of the usual standard however my partner’s cranberry sauce was disgusting and literally took my breath away; I brought this to the attention of the waiter who acknowledged that there was something wrong with the sauce however no further action was taken by the restaurant. Other dinners around us were complaining and the couple next to us (who arrived before us) were still waiting for their main course when we had nearly finished our puddings… in addition the dinning experienced felt rather sterile, like being in a cafeteria. It’s highly unlikely that we’d ever eat out at Cote on Christmas Day as the experience wasn’t special in the slightest and the cost significantly higher than usual. To charge such costs, one would expect to be served by experience staff who were able to coordinate the delivery of food more seamlessly, this was one of the biggest failings during our visit on Christmas Day.

This was by far one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I have already sent numerous emails regarding our appalling experience and dealings with the most immature, unfriendly and unprofessional waitresses I’ve ever seen. Their attitude, manners and way of talking to customers was nothing like I’ve ever seen before. They behaved in the most childlike manner. ‘Whispering’ about customers and ‘huffing’ off isn’t how you deal with unhappy diners. You have received quite a few reviews about the unpleasant staff and clearly still nothing has been done about it. Please be aware of this restaurant! Don’t keep apologising for this and passing this on when nothing is being done about it.

Arrived on time and the restaurant was quiet. I ordered the Breton chicken with garlic butter. Food arrived promptly. I had 2 nice looking pieces of chicken. I started eating the first piece, but the more I ate the pinker the meat got. I started to dissect the rest and, yes, there were traces of blood and what looked like very undercooked chicken. I sent it back. About 5 minutes later this single piece of sorry looking chicken arrived. I asked where the rest was, to which the reply was, “well you’ve already eaten half”. So they had removed one of the chicken pieces, reheated the second piece and sent it back! I work in the trade and have never experienced anything like that before. Needless to say I sent everything back and left it there. There wasn’t an apology, just a “huff”. Well, it didn’t end there. My wife had the mussels and made a bit of a mess, as you do when eating mussels. The waitress came with dessert menus, dropping one right on the spots of discarded white wine sauce; no attempt to wipe the table! No apology! You can normally rely on Cote to deliver good, honest, food that is well served. This was absolutely disgraceful.

Food was good (although they’d run out of a couple of items). Waitress was delightful. But when we first arrived (just after 6pm) a member of staff claimed the restaurant was fully booked when it very clearly wasn’t! (There were a number of empty tables not reserved.) The Manager seemed a bit stressed and not especially welcoming but quickly found us a table. A bit bizarre. But once seated the experience was good.

We had the rudest service you can imagine. We went to a concert and booked for 9.30. They take bookings up to 9.45. We arrived bang on time at 9.30. We were treated as if we were a boring imposition on their time. They came and asked us to choose our food quickly and when we asked for starters and a main they told us the kitchen was closing. We ordered starters and a main course. As soon as our starters arrived they brought the main course and tried to insist we have it on placed on the table with our starters. We were hurried to eat up our starter, two of which were soup but they failed to provide spoons!! They then brought mains in a surly fashion and failed to provide any knives. So at the same time as hassling us to finish eating, they failed to provide utensils with which to eat the food. I will never eat there again. We would have asked for the manager, but unfortunately the manager was one of the most surly and unhelpful of all the staff,

Fantastic experience from.start to finish. Service is very attentive. Food great - Olives, smoked salmon croquettes, confit of duck, fish parenteral, cheese board, and creme caramel. Wine delicious. Many thanks for our complimentary Kier Royale for our wedding anniversary. Will definitely return next time we are in London.

Table of 9 booked. Was seated downstairs and given menus. Waited ages for anyone to come over and take our orders, in the end i had to ask. We ordered drinks and food at the same time. One of my pet hates is when you are seated the server should ask what you want to drink first. Ordered bread for the table to start, one basket turned up with 6 pieces of bread, I had to ask for more and said it’s for the table! (9 people) Food was ok, not the best for the price but we are next to St Paul’s.

We decided to go to this Cote instead of our other usual London Cote and were not disappointed. We had a great evening celebrating my husband and my friends husband's birthdays. The service and food were excellent and our waitress Emese could not have tried harder to make our evening such a lovely one. London weekend, went on our first, Thursday night. The restaurant was close to our hotel. What a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Nice buzz inside but not too noisy. Excellent maitre de and choose a table to our liking. Friendly fun waitress. Had the special cocktail plus a variety of wines to go with our food. Managed three courses, nice dishes, well cooked and presented at a very reasonable price. Good experience all round, will go again.

Very good Rib Eye Steak served perfectly Rare Blue, bearnaisesauce and tomato sallad was really nice.

I was looking for a gluten free restaurant near Blackfriars and this french one popped up. Great to see a separate g.f. menu and the food labelled as such. I had chicken liver parfait for starter and a fish pie for main course. Both products were very tasty indeed and the staff were very friendly. I will certainly return.

Stopped in this lovely cafe after a few hours in St. Paul's Cathedral for lunch. Quaint atmosphere. Our waitress was a lovely young woman from Croatia who was so very personable and professional. We had French onion soup, tomato tart, and burger, along with two glasses of wine. Service was excellent and price reasonable. price was reasonable - £63.00

Amazing spot. Service was excellent and so was the food. So good in fact that it literally put a smile on my face. Honestly one of the best dining experiences we have had in London. They are also coeliac UK accredited and have a separate gluten-free menu, the dishes come out labelled gluten-free. As a coeliac I felt so comfortable earing there. We stumbled onto the place by accident but will definitely be back the next time we visit London!!

Our family (young children 6,7 year old) were made to feel SO WELCOME and the food and wine was wonderful. The children’s menu was exceptional value - we ate early so I assume children’s menu available only until 7pm / but definitely recommend to families eating early . The staff were LOVELY

What a delight! First time to this branch. I travel a lot and often have to dine solo which I don't mind. Some restaurants single you out but Côte Brasserie are very welcoming to all guests. Despite how busy they were on a Saturday evening, I was warmly greeted upon arriving, seated at a nice table and had excellent service throughout. Staff were attentive, yet left guests to dine in peace and enjoy their meal. I am a big fan of customer service. I have just come back from Japan where service is outstanding. I always find in the UK, we are one of the worse for service. However, Côte Brasserie is starting to make me have faith again. Well done! Great menu of French classics but there are other options too including steaks and salads. Hearty but good food. Calories and nutritional information are displayed on the menu which is helpful. I had the vegan Côte burger which came with frites. Freshly made, well presented and delicious. Messy to eat but so good. My Saturday treat! I actually felt shy when I fully cleaned up my plate but I was hungry and was looking forward to a burger. It delivered. I had a still water to drink so I was a bit healthy! Lovely branch with mainly indoor seating, plus a few tables outside. Lovely ambience and nice views too. They are busy given location so book a table. A lot of people were turned away or had to come back. Clean. Dessert looked good but I was stuffed. What Côte have also done well is not put up prices too much, especially in comparison to competitors. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Waitress was so unsmiling and unfriendly that we left after "ordering" which was a very depressing experience.

We booked a large area for breakfast with the bridal party the day after a wedding in London. They were very accommodating and the food was great. The champagne breakfast option is really good for a celebration!

Visited for a lunch with work colleagues. Place completely full upstairs and downstairs. Clearly understaffed and could not cope with lunch time service despite surrounded by offices and business lunch. Food was good and the lunch menu was good value particularly the mussels to start. But the service let it down and the slow pace of the food coming out. Very hot downstairs too. Service terrible, staff were not friendly and asked for bill multiple times but they forgot. Tip: Do not visit if you need to be somewhere, only if no time constraint.

Having booked I arrived early and was told:- 1) Maitre d needed table back in 1 hour 2) A heap of dishes that weren’t available 3) That it was card payment only It didn’t feel like a warm welcome - more an establishment of boundaries should I dawdle, ask for the moules and want to pay cash - perish the thought. The meal itself? The food was fine, the service by Nailia A exemplary (well done). The lasting impression was of being in a time trial I hadn’t signed up for.

We booked here to meet up with a friend as we had such a good time, last time, we ate here. This time was disappointing. We booked in advance, advising that there was a person in a wheelchair. When two of our party arrived (including the wheelchair user), they seat us in the back right hand corner of the restaurant. This meant we had to push round all the tables to get in, go to the toilets and to get out. By the time we were leaving it was really busy and it was hard to walk by the table, let alone get by in a wheelchair. I am not sure why we were seated there, was it to hide a wheelchair user, I can but wonder? The food was fine but the seating, made the meal feel stressful, which spoilt the visit.

We ate here twice while staying at the Club Quarters hotel, the food and service were excellent. They really looked after us and our 4 year old daughter.

The food was very nice - no complaints there. And the price was very reasonable, so again no complaints there.The service was very good at the beginning of the evening before the restaurant got busy, but as the evening well by, their service became less and less admirable. It took us about 30 mins to get our bill, then then no-one came to take our payment - we had to walk up to the counter to pay, and one if the staff just blanked us as we stood there waiting to pay.Finally someone came to take our payment - we had been standing there for about 5 mins by now, and he did not even apologise that no-one came to us at our table.So I am giving only 3/5 due to the experience with trying to get the bill and pay. Otherwise the food and price was good.

Usually enjoy this place but I must have picked the wrong items off the menu. Starter was dried up lamb with a crust of fat in a pot, served with crispy bread. Rock solid almost impossible to dig out of jar without flicking everywhere and not much taste.Main was chicken which was drier than a camels hump, grilled to death. Waiter forgot one of our drinks, bought someone else's meal to us, didn't have a clue and it wasn't that busy. Probably will not return.

Very well cooked indeed and great comfort food on a wet and cold winter’s night. This was accompanied by the Maison L’Aiglon 2018 Chardonnay whose creaminess made it a great companion to both dishes. The service was professional and prompt. I’ll be back for sure.

Looking for a place to eat at 2100 and came across this place! We knew it was late as other tables had already finished their meals and were on the coffees.We choose a great red wine from a great menu and the food menu equally as great! Super choice and the food was amazing!I would definitely recommend highly!
