Cote Brasserie - Covent Garden in City of London, Westminster

We are three friends having a catch up and we chose Coté to so. The staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the food and drinks were delicious. We have all said that we would return with our families and friends.

Very busy and noisy when we went on a Sunday. The food was good, but made an error by adding sausages into my wife's vegetarian meal. But to be fair the issue was resolved quickly, and her starter, main and pudding removed from the final bill.

Went here yesterday with my friend ,lovely atmosphere food was delicious Staff was amazing. One of the staff called Allison or Alice was so friendly. All the staff were ,made our meal and stay very pleasant. Will definitely be coming back ,

Finally some good French cuisine! Too bad we discovered it by chance on the last evening!!! The medium rating is not deserved, it is worth much more. Stop all these ready to eat and other fast food....

Popped in for a pre-theatre brunch. Very reasonably priced, great quality food and drink. Service was very good and swift for those who were under time pressure.

A chain restaurant that offers high quality food

I’ve never been a fan of restaurant chains…. until yesterday ! We met up with some friends who were in town for the weekend and my partner had been to Cote before, but not this one. Upon entering there was an air of laid back professionalism and the decor and ambiance was so much better than any chain I’d ever been to. We sat down and a friendly waiter took our drinks order, bottle of Cremante and bottle of Merlot, which were reasonably priced, especially for Covent Garden ! We placed food orders and 10 minutes later our starters arrived. All were excellent, good size portions and well prepared. My calamari was fresh, the batter was light yet crunchy and it came with mayo and lemon slices. I thought it excellent value. My 3 companions also enjoyed their choices. My main was Moules Mariniere. Very good portion of fleshy, perfectly steamed mussels in a white wine sauce with just a hint of cream so that the mussel liquor still came through. This came with perfect frites. I eat this in many restaurants and this was as good as any, better than most. A rib eye steak cooked medium was enjoyed and the other 2 mains were also good. No room for dessert as the portions were of a good size. Pleasantly surprised with the bill which including 10% tip came to £180. So £45 each. Remarkable value anywhere these days but for central London, exceptional. The staff were well trained, courteous and efficient: all in all a lovely 2 hour lunch. I will definitely be returning and can highly recommend.

Tucked away at the back was a good location but not with cold air blowing all the time. We were told it's due to the weather but the front of the restaurant was lovely and warm when we left. Such a shame.

We had a meal here yesterday after a long day out in London. Due to the cold and general exhaustion we presented ourselves 45 minutes early but the team welcomed us beautifully. They also produced a gluten free menu without being asked; I had specified that one of us is coeliac on our booking form. The food and especially wine were delicious and good value considering we are in central London. Service was quick and friendly, we were really impressed and would definitely come back.

This visit was really good. The fish soup was dleicious. The mussels and fries dish was more average.

Poor Management / AVOID AT ALL COSTS Booked table for 4 three weeks in advance. Arrived earlier but only allocated with a table for 3. Complained to manager, but she said it was allocated by the SYSTEM and it was full, nothing she could do. If not because I was meeting friends from overseas, I would walk out. It gave me backache. BTW, main courses were very small. Taste were average. Offered c.10% discount due to the table but added back 10% “discretionary” service charge. What a joke! AVOID this Cote at all costs!

I love going to Côte Brasserie and have been to a few other locations. The food is great and and atmosphere is always buzzing.

I never gave someone that low , but with my all respect it was well deserved this time! We came today and there was only two groups in front of us. I went inside to inform them about us as we were only two so they can note us down on the list like what others did In front of us . Anyway, I went inside and I spoke to the lady as I told her by the world “were two waiting outside, is there any table for us in the meantime” she immediately interrupted and said we do t serve outside on any table . I told her were waiting in the queue.. I'm not asking for outside table . She said alright we don’t have then cream caramel 😅. I was really shocked with her attitude, she immediately wanted a reason to tell us no . I told her we’re here for dining having our dinner! She said sorry we have problems snd I cant offer you a table. Not that she was accepting walk in as we asked all groups Infront of us and behind us. I was really shocked again cause she spoke to me in a manner with an angry tone and attitude Infront of all the people … shame on her really, were here to dine not asking for free food!! I told her what problems of me not sitting, she responded be cause we have delays in food😅😅. Again if thats the case why its only us when all others are going to be seated and accepted. I want to note I have been to cote in previous years and it was the best but because of what happened today we will no longer come back. We never got treated in london in such a manner, this was a racism as we were only ones arabs at the queue… Im so disappointed and a shamed of what happened really ..

Always a great experience coming to Cote and we always enjoy the food and drink.

Took ages to be able to order the. Felt we had been forgotten about and had to go and ask to order pudding. Had to ask for water for a second time too. The salmon was tasty, as was the burger. The crème brûlée was sent back because it was grey round the edges but the replacement was delicious. Usually a big fan of this place.

I had a pleasant Christmas dinner at this charming café with a French-inspired vibe. Although I experienced some issues with the online booking system, the kind and efficient administrator at the café resolved everything on the spot, which made for a smooth and welcoming experience. The food was good and complemented the festive atmosphere nicely. I tried their non-alcoholic Christmas cocktail, but I wouldn’t personally recommend it—it tasted more like a sweet compote. That said, I wasn’t feeling my best and avoided regular cocktails, so this might have influenced my preference. Plain water would have been a better choice for me. A special mention goes to Rahul, the waiter, who was polite, attentive, and made sure everything went smoothly. The café’s location in the heart of the theater district is also a big plus, adding to its convenience and charm. Overall, I enjoyed the evening. It’s a cozy spot with good food, excellent service, and a welcoming ambiance. I would recommend it for a relaxing meal.

Carolina was fantastic tonight and gave us the perfect Christmas Eve experience. Bravo! Lovely ambiance and delicious food.

Had our work Christmas dinner here. Sat at a table downstairs which made it very personal and cosy. Table layout was good with nice Christmas decoration. Service was a little chaotic but got there in the end. Food was good. Drinks orders were brought to table and there was always someone available to order more. Staff were friendly, some very professional, others were seasonal staff but made an effort. Overall good experience

A wonderful experience and very pleasant and helpful staff. The food was delicious. We had the French Sunday roast for two. The gravy was amazing! Highly recommend this place.

This was my pick of a lovely place to have a family Christmas get together and it did not disappoint. The food is excellent and the three course Christmas lunch is great value and tastes delicious. Service was excellent, very attentive without being overbearing and there is a lovely welcoming atmosphere. We spent a few hours here and felt comfortable and welcome throughout. Thank you.

We were so looking forward to our prebooked dining experience having missed out on our last trip in January. The food was good but the experience was disappointing. The table was not available, and we were then put in aside area squashed in , another couple were so disgruntled they got moved. I can't fault the staff but the pressure on bookings seems to be intense.

I have never left a 1 star review before but my experience on Sunday evening was truly disappointing. When I came in I was immediately met with hostility, being told that I was to sit outside. When I reinforced that we had a reservation, we were finally sat down. There was no steak frites (how?!?!?) and the waiter mixed up our burger order, getting neither one right. The glass of wine I ordered never came. Add in the fact that about 5 glasses broke behind the bar, we had the feeling that we were at the Fawlty Towers experience down the road. It looked like that the staff all hated each other due to the constant chaos and bickering on the floor. Côte is a reputable chain but this branch puts shame on its name. Avoid.

Reliable and friendly Cote-style service as usual. I was chaperoning a birthday party of 8 teenage girls. Kayhan and the team took amazing care of the girls. Patient, courteous and proactive. The best of Cote experience I have come to expect over more than 15 years of dining at multiple Cote venues across London and the suburbs. Thank you!

We went to Celebrate my husbands birthday and the food did not disappoint!! Simply delicious.

We enjoyed a pleasant lunch at Cote, chose combination of starters and sides. The cheese soufflé and broccoli garlic were particularly good. Nice selection of wines, chose a muskadet which was lovely. The staff were particularly helpful and pleasant.

Slow service, the waiter was not attentive and did not serve us even tho restaurant was half empty. Food was mediocre not very tasty and dry Very disappointed, do not recommend

It was my first time at Cote , at Tavistock Street the atmosphere was peaceful, relaxing, cosy comfortable chairs I ordered Calamari( on point) Starter: baguette with salted butter ( very good) Main: salmon, the sauce was starting to set, and the brocoli was yellow the salmon was a bit dry The best was the Dessert ( Grande Macaron)

Great atmosphere with delicious food. You immediately feel at home when you enter the restaurant. The service is very friendly and quick. The food is high quality, tasty and beautifully presented. The portions could be a little larger, but that's the only complaint. Feel free to come here for a relaxed breakfast, we will come back!

Welcoming, warm atmosphere, attentive staff, delicious food, a thoroughly enjoyable first visit. The restauant was pleasantly busy, but the service was prompt. Sometimes inquiries about whether you're enjoying your meal can be formulaic, but Anna, who looked after us, seemed genuinely keen that we have a good experience, and quick to respond if we needed anything.

Very good experience because we were in a hurry as we had to see a show. The service was fast while remaining very attentive, the dishes quality. In short, we ate well while respecting our tight schedule. I will return more comfortably another time to enjoy it more.

Having been to Cote in other cities and having thoroughly enjoyed it, we thought booking a table at Cote Tavistock Street would be a safe bet following a busy day’s sightseeing with our family. On arrival our table wasn’t ready (no big issue) however the lady we spoke to was very brusque, which immediately gave us a negative first impression. We (2 adults and 2 children) stood at the front door, where there was very little room to move with people coming in and out of the restaurant, the kids getting squashed each time. When some people left, the lady who we spoke to when we arrived ended up offering us a table right at the front door - which we politely declined as the door was constantly opening and shutting and having booked well in advance, it didn’t seem fair that we should have to sit there. After a while we were shown to another table, which had become free. It was in a nice part of the restaurant and we hoped that our experience would improve from that point. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be. Service was not at all attentive, nobody mentioned to us that the prix fixe menu was not available (despite featuring on the menus we were given), we had to ask multiple times for the drinks that we ordered. It was evident that waiting staff were too busy and stressed and so weren’t able to provide the service that you would expect from a restaurant (and that we have experienced in other Cote restaurants). It’s a real shame as the food was nice enough. We left the restaurant after our main courses feeling disappointed with what we had hoped would be a lovely family meal out.

Canadians enjoying dinner in a French Brasserie in London!

We had gone to London to see a show as a surprise for our daughters 13th birthday and thought we could grab dinner before hand. We didn't book but the lovely greeter managed to move a few things around to accommodate us. Our two waitresses were very attentive, we thought we might be forgotten as our table was hidden away a little but we were not. The food we thought was fantastic but one of the waitresses came over and asked if she could take away our daughters burger as she (the waitress) didn't like the look of how charred the bun was. We thought that was wonderful as we hadn't even noticed or commented on it. Later our daughter was surprised with a birthday plate of cake, ice cream and a candle because the other waitress had overheard us talking about her birthday. You have such an amazing team there, they are a credit to you and on top of that the food was fantastic. Thank you. Ps the non alcoholic cocktail was the best she's ever tasted !

Habitué aux restaurants Côté, je sais que je suis rarement déçu. Encore une fois, cuisine très bonne, restaurant accueillant et sympathique. Les plats sont simples, mais bon. Tout petit bémol sur le service qui était un peu impersonnel. Les prix sont très corrects.

Newly refurbished..cosy Sunday lunch experience in heart of Covent Garden. Food even better here than some Cote venues but service and attention is 5* (thanks Katriona and team). Worth a visit for exciting good value french cuisine.

This is a lovely restaurant with good food and if you book the pre theatre menu it will cost you £24 approx each Where else can you get a good meal for that price in central London

Returning from the Abba Arena at around 10pm they welcomed us warmly and with great availability despite the time. Very good dishes, served with care and all the staff were really very kind.

One of the worst dining experience ever. Met for breakfast there. My cote breakfast looked like it had been thrown on the plate not placed. The beans stone cold. I asked for new beans. The waitress looked so put out I asked. She then said I warm them up ? I said no replace them. THEY CAME BACK COLDER. Tomatoes on plate not cooked. Rest of the breakfast was avg at best and luke warm. I knew after bean gate I was wasting my time. Best bit was the toast and that was stone cold too. Would I return NOT A CHANCE.

So this was a great surprise for us. We started with a French onion soup that was really tasty, it’s a heavy broth with cheese bread. Then we had the beef cheek bourguignon, the meat was super tender you could slice it with the fork, amazing and the sauce it’s on delicious. They didn’t have smash potatoes that come with but they offered us dauphine potatoes that were also good. We also ordered the duck confit that was also really tasty. The dessert was delicious too. Overall a great experience, service super friendly and atmosphere really nice. Thanks for everything

The starters arrived promptly, and each one was perfectly prepared—especially the calamari, which was golden and crunchy without being overcooked. For the main courses, we enjoyed mussels, duck leg, and salmon. Everything was flavorful and beautifully presented. The desserts were simply delicious, with the chocolate fondant standing out as a must-try—warm and rich. In addition to the fantastic food, the staff was welcoming, professional, and friendly. Amazing staff welcomed us to our table, we were made to feel very welcome and our drinks order was taken. The best thing about this restaurant is that we never felt rushed, and the excellent food.

Knowing you way around London is one thing to do. You can find places to go, things to see, and a good place to eat. And, in London, that is possible on all levels. And one time you want to know where to eat is when you are going to the theatre that evening. Shows alls tart at different times, so you need to know where to have dinner before the show starts. Once place we found this time around was COTE in Coven Garden area which is really on ST. MARTIN'S LANE Not far from Charrington a block away. It is a small restaurant with a French flair. And, being in London, this is a good place for a difference. The day before we saw a line out the door around 630pm. People were trying to get in but it was packed. So the next day we went at 530pm and got ourselves a table. No problem on that. We sat down and within less than an hour the place was packed. It was a good thing as we were going to see a show and needed to be out of COTE by 7pm. Out waiter was great. He presented the menus and provided help as to the special of the evening and even the pre-theatre specials of whether a 2-course or 3-course selection. We had time to think and to consider what options we should pick from the menu. It took a bit but we decided. We also ordered an appetizer Charcuterie board with Savoie ham, truffle saucisson, Coppa ham and pickles with toasted sourdough baguette. This was ideal with a glass of wine to compliment that. We then decided on one 2-course pre-threatre selection which included the Charcuterie board followed by the Poulet Breton Rôti. It is corn-fed marinated roasted half chicken, topped with herbs and served with fries. It was also topped with a special mushroom sauce for additional flavor. A good dish that complimented the other dish we had. We also received an order of Moules Frites. Special rope-grown British mussels in a white wine, shallot and cream sauce served with frites. This alone was a meal itself. These musselts were very fresh and tasty. The sauce perfect. For dessert we decided to convert the 2-course meal to a 3-course meal. For that we ordered the Apple Tarte Tatin. This is a very classic French dessert invented. It was caramelised apples with a puff pastry base, salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. And an espresso of course to complete the meal. Overall, it was a good place to be. The waiter was wonderful and a true gentleman. The prices were perfect. The portions and quality ideal. Service ideal. And the atmosphere was like being in Paris. Tables close together. People talking. Food coming around to all. We also left in time to get to the theatre that night. Merci, Cote.

We had lunch here yesterday. Just family. They were great dealing with my annoying allergies and the food was very good for a chain restaurant. They are known for stake Fritz (spell check, what are you doing?). But the French onion soup is even better. Thank you. Ben.

This was our annual family visit to London with 10 of us this year! We were not disappointed with the attentive service and as always the menu offers lots of choice for all of us. See you next year!!

Cote is a French Restaurant that comes highly recommended by a local friend staying in London. He said : “Make a reservation, or it will be near impossible to walk in” And I did just that before I flew to London. They are indeed very, very full almost back to back bookings especially, this particular outlet which is near several theaters. Food is exceptionally good, in fact, remarkable. The food was deeply flavored and soulfully cooked. Lots of skill 👩‍🍳 and effort went into preparing the meals and I totally enjoyed the meal. Special mentioned to the Confit Pork Belly. Beautifully cooked with infused thyme herbs 🌿 and it just falls apart when you cut it. The French onion 🧅soup 🍲 was also a winner….. simple yet sophisticated, yummy! 😋 All the staff and captain was just a marvel to watch when they work. Fast, friendly and super polite despite the huge crowd inside the restaurant and another big group waiting at the door. She easily took our order, came back, settled our drinks and got us going. Calm and professional. Overall, a delightful experience at Cote and I will highly recommend them to anyone. 👍 #Cote

Unfortunately whilst our food was pleasant, the staff were overwhelmed and service was noticeably slow and inattentive. Not the smooth pre theatre dining experience we had hoped for and which Côte usually delivers.

The restaurant is nice and big. The food is good and it is in a good area. They have gluten free options.

The Côte breakfast was underwhelming to say the least. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and hope their other lunch items are good; I saw a steak pass by me that looked pretty decent.

I found the restaurant crowded, tables close together. The food was ok, but small portions for the price! Our waiter was not attentive and we struggled to get their attention to order a drink. Overall overpriced for the experience, abit disapointed!

Second visit to this Cotes. We visited before going to the theatre so an early meal. Very busy place but staff are still super friendly making time to welcome diners. We had two courses each and enjoyed the food immensely. We weren't rushed and weren't kept waiting. Good balance. Had a mix of fish, meat and veggie options and all were super. Would recommend and return

We chose Cote as my daughter has recently been diagnosed as having coeliac disease. Cote’s Gluten Free Menu did not disappoint. It offered excellent choice. The waiters were helpful and attentive and were keen to ensure that my daughter’s dietary requirements were met. Both our lunches were delicious (moules frites and steak frites) .

Consistently good steak frites, this Cote is opposite the blue plaque for Thomas de Quincey who wrote confessions of an English opium here. You will not find any opium in Cote!!! I find Cote to be a chain that reliably provides a good meal. There is outside seating here - but just for parties of 2. I am uncertain if there is step free access. It seems quite busy on a Sunday lunchtime and lots of people have bookings but I had no problem getting a table without one.

Lovely atmosphere, great service and beautiful food. As celebrating friends birthday they provided us with a complimentary bottle and also a pudding. Finished off a wonderful day ❤️

Waiter messed up the most simple order, ordered 2 scrambled well done eggs and a piece of plain sourdough bread with butter. Brought me 2 scrambled eggs sessioned with something and very runny, as well as a seeded piece of bread with no butter. Not sure how this could be messed up so badly. Definitely not going back.

Nice pre dinner place to go right in the heart of theatre land. Staff were helpful, cheerful and pleasant.

Seated ourselves outside, after 5 mins a staff approached us and we stated we were just getting drinks, she said OK and walked away but did not return ... after 40 mins we left without ordering anything. So I actually can't tell you what the atmosphere or food is like, but from that service I won't be going there again. A solid NOPE.

The best part of the meal was the water. The tables are packed too close together so you cannot hear what the person at your table is saying, our server went home early and no one said a thing about it, and the food is just so bland. I would forgive everything if at least the food was good, but it was awful. This place deserves 0 stars, that is how terrible it is.
