Cote Brasserie - Covent Garden in City of London, Westminster

As regular customers of Cote in Bristol, we thought we would experience a similar standard and quality in other Cote restaurants. This was certainly not the case in Covent Garden Cote. To begin with the inside was very tired, marked tables and generally in need of a serious update. We ordered similar things to what we often have in Bristol only to find the standard, quality, taste and appearance of the food was so different; it was all of a very poor quality - more like the standard of a fast food cafe. Our evening was spoilt and will now be very cautious about using Cote again. For us it was niot enjoyable or at all value for money! The only positive point was that our waiter was pleasant.

Dreadful restaurant. We had poor service with all the dressings, butter and salad missing from the order. They included the service on the bill but we asked them to take it off as the service was appaing. The salad looked like it had just been thrown in the bowl. No dressing on it, and no butter for the brushette. Appauling service. Very noisy restaurant. Not the ideal place for meeting up with friends. Would not go back again

Ideal location for visiting Covent Garden, ROH and The National. Good reliable food as always. Value for money and quality.

Convent Garden site. Spotlessly clean, great service and lunch was very nice and easonably priced too. Recommended.

I had dinner here with my mum before going to the theatre. The service was quick, as you want before a show. Nice atmosphere, not a quite chill place but not crazy lively either. My small food complaint is with the size of the bowl given for mussels which was smaller than the bowl of mussels and so needed a second for the empty shells

Booked a pre show table for a meal, excellent meal all round, and very quick service, prices for London were fair and all five in the party were very pleased with the meal, the Apple tart-tartan was sublime.

Food was horrible. I don't recommend it. Cocktails are the best though!

It's some time since my wife and I had eaten at Cote But it seemed to us that the standards had dropped. We opted for the Beef Bourgiugnon. A bad mistake. It was extremely fatty we were both disappointed. In addition the portions were small but probably just as well In this case. We won't be making the same mistake again. Having said that the service was ok.

First of all, our waitress was lovely, very friendly and polite, We ordered from the fixed price menu before a trip to a nearby theatre, starters of Crispy Whitebait and Charcuterie Board, sadly there was a mix up with our order which led to a delay of nearly an hour before our starters arrived, this meant we ended up running out of time and couldn’t have a pudding, The food itself was tasty, especially the Sirloin, tiny portion of peppercorn sauce was pricy for what it was, Came away a little disappointed, despite the food being ok.

Lovely French fare - we came here for dinner before the opera and the place was packed! Our server did his best to keep up with all the hustle and bustle so kudos to him. The Breton fish stew was slightly salty, but the beef cheek bourguignon was melt in your mouth tender. Loved the chicken pate and creme caramel! Would definitely come back!

Really disappointing, half the menu was ‘off’, prix fixe not available at weekends, portions tiny, steak overcooked, very expensive for what you get, (12 for a glass of Malbec!) and worst of all, filthy toilets. 50 quid a head for 2 courses plus wine. Go elsewhere or save your money. On the plus side, good service friendly staff.

We were quite a large party to celebrate a four year old birthday. The food and service was good but when my wife went to the toilet she found it in a disgusting condition with the floor and walls filthy and looked as though it had not been cleaned for a long time. Hopefully the same does not apply to the kitchen

Visited after theatre for fixed price menu which is now limited till Monday to Friday so chose off the regular menu. Before we even ordered, our server reeled off a dozen or more items not available, not a good start. The food was tasty but portions quite small, I had the steak frites which was a very thin steak and overcooked in my view although we weren’t asked how we liked it cooked. It was served with a mean portion of fries and a bit of rocket dumped on the place like an after thought. If you wanted a sauce to accompany steak, that was another three quid! Desserts were well presented and tasted nice. With wine (12 quid a glass) bottle of house white and 2 courses the bill came in at just under fifty pound a head, with an added service charge, very expensive for what we had. I have visited nearby St Martins lane Coté on many occasions and much prefer it both atmosphere and dining experience. With the prix fixe coming in at about 20 for two courses, I would only visit when this option is available.

Booked this restaurant after looking at tripadvisor reviews for our trip to London. We were not disappointed. We arrived late due to our train however this didn’t phase the restaurant and they were able to accommodate us. We were asked if we were in a hurry for a theatre or other engagement, which we were not but it was clear that they would have moved things along to accommodate. We enjoyed great food, the atmosphere was lovely, there was a real buzz. Highly recommend.

This Côte is in the middle of several West End theatres, so expect it to be busy - booking is essential. Good service given how full the restaurant was. Good allergen awareness from the serving staff. Great place for a pre-theatre dinner.

We have visited various Cote restaurants many times & this was the first time they have badly let us down. You get the feeling quality is seriously being dumbed down. We had made a reservation for 1pm but It was 30 minutes before we managed to attract someones attention to take our order. There were 8 of us & 4 chose the Steak Frites. Everyone said they were generally poor quality but my steak was almost totally inedible. It was all sinew & I only managed to get 2 edible forkfuls. We were seated in a remote corner where no staff ever appeared until we had finished our meal and I then complained about the appalling quality. I was told they would "tell the chef". When we finally got our bill I was informed they had graciously not charged me for my dessert as compensation. What I wanted was to not be charged for the disgusting steak. However, because the service had been so slow, we were late for getting to the theatre so did not have time to pursue the matter. The upshot is that we will never go to another Cote restaurant again.

We visitied here pre-theatre on a Saturday the restaurant was full but food came out in a very timely way. Service was a little iffy and not particularly friendly. We all had little confidence that we were getting the food that we ordered as the server really didn't seem to know whsat was going on and didn't recap our order. Trying to get the bill at the end was a bit difficult, we asked for it a few times with our main server saying "i was just going to do that" and then we saw her serving drinks, food, and wandering the restaurant with our bill never appearing until we asked a different server.

Booked for a pre show dinner. Clean and airy, great staff and atmosphere. All food available within our time window and left with time to spare. Not hurried or harried at any time. Great service and didn’t just feel like another chain offering.

The Manager on duty was terrible. It’s looking like Indian absolutely rude and unprofessional, unfriendly. I was with my family and my friend. The food was good the rest of the team was amazing. I will not coming back. That’s not the way to welcome a Guest.

Cote is usually fantastic for pre theatre dining but we were really disappointed with our experience this time. We usually go to St Martin's Lane branch but this Covent Garden branch was closer to our theatre. Never again. It didn't help that arriving exactly on time for our reservation (which we'd made several weeks earlier there was not only a queue to get into the main door but the staff took an age to sort out tables. 10 minutes later we were shown to ours, in the dungeon. It was HORRID down there, I don't know how a restaurant can offer tables in such a miserable windowless grey room. One staff member did his best to serve us all (there were about 6 tables therein) but it was clear we all had theatre tickets and time was of the essence, having already wasted so much at the start. Sadly the non-food experience (dismal ambience) detracted from the decent food (steak frites and cherry clafoutis)

We did not book and they found us a table on a busy Saturday night. The staff were very friendly and service and food good.

The food would have been great if not for some kind of fly or insect in my mussels. But it wasn’t the fly itself that was the frustrating part, but the lack of any acknowledgment from the gentleman in glasses that was serving me who didn’t apologize or bring it up to the manager. Hopefully this is a one off, but will never know since they the stuff doesn’t seem to think it’s a issue

When you order a rare steak, you expect a rare steak, not one that's been cooked until it's devoid of moisture! Need a bit of new starter training, too.. On the whole, it's not bad.

We visited this restaurant today with our daughter who has multiple food allergies. The manager was excellent and really helpful and we felt relaxed and could enjoy the meal because we had faith in the staff. The service was prompt and good and the food also a good quality. Very happy and will visit this chain again.

Food and restaurant were fine. Service was shocking. Our waitress Naomi clearly didn't want to be there and made it very obvious. Spoilt an otherwise good evening. 😕

Lovely people working there, but the breakfast is basically the same as a below average hotel buffett these days - Nothing seems cooked fresh anymore, nuked bacon, sausage at the end of it's life and scrambled eggs all clumped together that have obviously been batch made. I'm guessing this is all cost cutting after the 2020 corporate sale. This is nearly always completely destrictive to any business as we went there remembering great breakfasts previously from the Brighton site. We'll now never go again and frequent indepedants as this seems to be happing across all chains. It also means I would'nt trust the lunches or evening meals. Another lost customer. I've never really understood why corproates buy food businesses with good reputations and then send in the accountant-led teams to fiddle with everything. No one ever went to Côte for a bargain meal.

Good food, nice experience. Small things; no ask if all was ok, no offer on condiments for the steaks and waiter didn’t know what the goats cheese was, that said very nice staff and food. Would definitely visit again.

Nice restaurant in good location. Currently do a fixed price menu at 16.95 for 2 courses (Feb 2024). No good for wheelchair users at first glance but they can open fire doors for no steps entrance but no access to toilet without stair involvement. Staff excellent. Helpful, courteous and professional. Food was very tasty with great choice on al a carte. Had 2 courses, glass of wine and 2 coffees including service £43.50. Only slight critique was food was warm rather than hot. However I know if I'd raised query, they would have rectified. I didn't as off to theatre so on timeline so this is NOT a complaint just observation. Would recommend.

Service is very slow. Wine arrived over half way through mai meal. Food is okay but not as good as the Cote restaurants.

Birthday Meal February 2024. A weekend in London with my daughter. She booked a meal for my birthday.on February 9th. We didn’t like our allocated table and within 5 minutes this was resolved and we had a table in the corner by a window. Next we knew glasses of champagne arrived, served with a smile. The staff were lovely and friendly. We had starters followed by steak and frites, delicious food. We ordered crème brûlée and mine arrived on a dish decorated with Happy Birthday and a candle. This was so lovely and meant so much to me. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and hope to visit again.

We arrived about 15 mins early for our booking but were greeted warmly and they arranged for us to be seated straight away. The service was friendly and attentive. We ordered the Baked Camembert for the table. For the price of £9.75 would say this is relatively expensive as it was quite small and only came with 3 small pieces of bread between the 2 of us. For the mains we ordered the Pork Belly and Breton Fish Stew which were good value for money (especially the Stew). Would go to the Restaurant again for before or after Theatre visit.

Satisfactory cuisine service to be reviewed when the sanitary facilities are deplorable!!! We are very disappointed because this restaurant was really very good but has lost all its charm. We will not come back!

I am writing to share my experience as Kamal had amazing customer service, was very welcoming and made me and my partner very happy and helped us really enjoy our experience! I would visit again just because of Kamal!

Repeatedly told our table was only available between 5-7 which spoiled the enjoyment of our meal. We arrived at 5pm but only received the menus at 5.25 but were still reminded we needed to be finished by 7pm! We were then asked to leave at 6.50 as the 8pm guests had arrived!

Awful awful awful costumer service. I called to make a reservation for desserts only and they happily said that they have a table for us. I came to the restaurant and was told by the manager that they don’t have a table for me because I came for desserts only. They told me I had to pay 15 pounds per person for staying inside!!! They told me to eat outside for desserts only!! Awful place, awful manager, average food.

It’s always a pleasure. Daniel went beyond his duty to accommodate a big push chair which holds two children. the willingness to help made the evening stress free. This is pure joy to watch. During service the staff were attentive to my friend’s needs so the children could be quiet and entertained. Thank you to be all the team. Much appreciated. See you all soon.

The set menu for a pre-theatre dinner is excellent value and very good, because of this it is always popular. Although the restaurant was totally full and a little crowded the service was still faultless.

The entire team was impeccable dealing with a push chair which hold two children, tables were slightly shifted so no we all could feel comfortable. Kids behaved well too, blessing. Food was very good. Friends from abroad were impressed with my choice

We popped into Cote for lunch today right at the busiest time (1 O'clock) and without a reservation. The restaurant was jam packed full but the manager Kamal went out of his way to find us a table and provide us with good old fashioned...

This really is a good spot. No fuss . We did not book but they helpfully guided us in despite being very busy. Our server was Prateek and he was very attentive and professional which helps. We had a Charcuterie board for starters and Cote...

We had a wonderful Christmas dinner at Côte Brasserie. The food was excellent, offering a good variety of flavors. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for the holiday season. Our waiter, Ashwaty, provided great service, making our experience even more enjoyable. What stood out was the range of gluten-free options, which was particularly appreciated by one of our group who is gluten-free. She was really impressed with her meals. Overall, Côte Brasserie delivered a fantastic dining experience that catered well to all our needs. Highly recommended!

We arrived early for our booking, so were kundly accommodated in the downstairs room. The staff were very busy and probably could have used help, but worked hard. The meal - moules frites plus creme caramel - was simple but delicious, as ever. This chain is a no fuss, reliable, predictably tasty eatery. Perfect for pre-theatre/opera/film etc dining.

We went for a special occasion (wife’s birthday), and despite the restaurant being super busy due to the time of the year, we felt that service was spotless. The food was great and we left with enough time to go to the theatre even though we had a full three course meal. It didn’t feel rushed at all. Everything exceeded expectations, so I’ll definitely consider Côte for a next special occasion.

Cote is always a reliable choice for dinner. Consistently good food and service. I left my umbrella behind on this occasion but the staff kindly made sure it was safe and i collected it few days later.

I booked the private room for 18 persons several months ago for a birthday celebration. From the time I made the booking to the meal itself everything was fantastic. My e-mail and telephone communications prior to the meal were dealt with very politely and efficiently....

We ordered from the festive menu and I wasn’t wowed by the food. The turkey was dry and the veg was luke warm. Service was ok and the atmosphere was enjoyable as it was busy in the lead up to Christmas. Overall, it was nothing special and I won’t be returning.

I ordered the Lamb rump. Although pink and seemingly tender, one slice was all fat, and there was quite a bit more on other slices. I asked if they could just replace the fatty slice, but the chef was unable to as the dish was cooked in portions sizes. The Restaurant manager was very polite and offered me a different choice off the menu. I choose the boeuf Bourguignan....I'm very glad I did, it was truly amazing, lean and tender. We held our Christmas lunch here yesterday. There were 31 of us and everything turned out perfectly. Nadim our head waiter was so professional and gracious. The food was great, despite this being a chain restaurant, and I found it really good value. To find somewhere calm and good quality in central London at Christmas is a find, especially at these prices. Thank you Nadim!

Had two problems with our order and was lied to multiple times by their staff

A really lovely restaurant with a really friendly waitress the food was excellent the steak was cooked as I requested it and I liked the French IPA beer

Been to other Cote branches many times but first time to this one. I ordered vegetarian breakfast and my husband ordered vegan avocado toast; we also ordered two juices. We confirmed with the waitress that the vegan avocado toast would have no egg and we do not want any ice in our juices. However, the two juices arrived with ices first and later the avocado toast with an egg on it. We told them to correct the order. After the dish was taken away, we saw the waitress and another waiter discussing about the wrong order and it sounded like they wanted to tell the kitchen to just remove the egg from the dish. We called the waitress over to emphasize that we request for a fresh dish and would not want the same one just with the egg being removed as my husband wouldn't eat egg at all and wouldn't want the toast with any of the egg flavor left on it. The waitress confirmed that it will be a fresh one. A min later, she brought a dish back without egg. I was surprised by the speed and asked her again whether this is a fresh one and not the previous one just with egg being taken out. Both the waitress and the manager confirmed that it's a fresh one -- they said they have avocado mash ready to use and hence would be able to make this very quickly. After they left, my husband was about to have his food but noticed that there's a piece of egg white on the dish -- obviously this was the same dish and we had been lied to! So we had to call the waitress and manager again to get it changed. We told them that it's understandable mistakes happened so it wasn't a big issue when the order was wrong the first time; but it's unacceptable that we requested for a fresh one and were lied to about it. The manager went to speak to the chef and the chef said he's told the customer doesn't want egg so he just took it out -- so despite all the conversations we had to request for a fresh dish, no one passed the information to the chef...... Very disappointed with the service! I don't want to imagine what if someone with allergy to something and got a wrong order from them which was corrected by simply taking the problematic item out of the same dish.Unbelievable! It also turned out the avocado anyway was not nice. No seasoning Or flavour so didn't even eat it

Conveniently situated and served quickly pre theatre but food average at best and service rather perfunctory. Quick meal pre show for a party of 5, sharing plates bland as was mushroom bourguignon that was tasteless. Quiche pastry was ok but filling not tasty. Steak frites small portion. Overall a functional experience but not worth the money for that experience or food quality

Very good food and service. James in particular was extremely helpful and friendly. We booked late so had to eat downstairs. The upstairs atmosphere was quite buzzy.

Visited Cotè Covent Garden for the steak night and we weren't disappointed. The service was good, the atmosfphere was lovely, the steak was on another level and Cotè du Rhone was amazing, our friends loved it. Will visit again!

Really enjoyed the food, impressed with the value of the prix fixe menu and the options, and liked the seasonal nature of some of the dishes as well. Tried the pumpkin martini which was delicious. Keen to visit again and try other Autumn specials. Also felt well looked after by Tomasz and the team although we could see they were very busy - they accommodated our request to get us in and out in an hour as we were attending a show.
