Of the more than 6000 dinning experiences of my life to date Cote St. Martins Lane provided easily the worst ever. From rude staff through terrible food cooked poorly all the way through the incredible din of the pre-theatre crowd it was a thoroughly unpleasant experience. If you go there you have my condolences.

Cote St Martin's Lane is a reliable choice for a quick meal before heading to the theatre. The evening started with a lovely glass of wine. For starters, the scallops were excellent—cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The steak tartare was decent, but nothing extraordinary. My main course of salmon with béarnaise sauce was very enjoyable, though my partner felt their steak was slightly on the chewy side. Dessert was the passion fruit crème brûlée, which was absolutely delicious; however, it took nearly as long to arrive as the starters and mains combined. This meant we had to rush through it to make it to the theatre on time—a bit of a shame. The staff were polite and clearly working hard, but they seemed stretched thin and didn't always notice when we needed attention. Overall, Cote is a good, stable option for a pre-theatre meal, with some standout dishes and room for small improvements in service speed and attentiveness.

The service was great however the food did not meet expectations The service was the highlight, the staff were all welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. The staff heard us mention celebrating a birthday, so 2 complimentary glasses of fizz shortly appeared which was a lovely touch. We enjoyed our starters which arrived promptly. They tasted good and we were we glad we ordered them. Unfortunately our main meal was a massive disappointment. Steak arrived undercooked. Asked for medium rare. (Was served almost blue). This wasn’t the main issue as I can enjoy a rare steak however it was so salty it was inedible. Both our steaks had clearly been heavily seasoned in salt before and after cooking. A big disappointment. To the staffs credit after i raised the issue, a new steak or an a different dish was offered but I chose to decline the offer as we had a show to catch. The meal was taken off the bill so I feel it was handled well. .

Cote is a safe French toast experience. We previously highlighted we didn’t enjoy our first experience because the French toast felt rushed. However, we take responsibility as we did get there quite late, breakfast was ending but the Cote team were lovely and decided to still serve us breakfast. GET THERE EARLY TO GET GOOD QUALITY FRENCH TOAST. Post first experience we have enjoyed the Cote French toast. It’s worth a visit and try. We have visited a few branches and when you go early they do a good job.

We travel to London at least once a year for a few days visiting restaurants , markets and to take in a show, this trip we dined at Cote restaurant situated beside our hotel in st Martins lane, I know there are lots of Cote restaurants around the country but none in my neck of the woods Northern Ireland mores the pity , the restaurant was really busy but the staff were friendly, fast and professional, there was a fixe price menu 3 courses for an unbelievable £23.50 , normally when you see 3 course menus they are not very good we certainly didn’t expect starters to include Whitebait, Parfait and mains of seafood and Steak frites, the desserts a fabulous chocolate mousse and cheese plate with excellent French cheese without the ubiquitous surcharge, I would definitely recommend Cote restaurant in St Martins Lane I’m sure the others around the country are of similar standards 👍👨🏻🍳

I think Cote on St Martins Lane is a real find in busy central London. Warm welcome, good food, nice ambience, and great value for the fixed price menu. Manager Dimi remembered me from my last visit, and was warm and friendly throughout, even realising it was my birthday! I had the fixed price menu all of which was excellent - pumpkin soup, sea bass, and banana crepe. Dessert was particularly good. Waitress Harshitha was also very friendly and attentive. It does get very busy around theatre times, but they have enough staff to cope well. Highly recommend and will be going back soon.

ADVERTENCIA hoy junto con mi hija celíaca nos sirvieron entrantes con pan de harina de trigo. We went to cote as a large party of 14 after a theatre trip, with our booking at 6pm but our table wasn’t ready until 6:15. We were placed on a table for 12 with napkins laid out on the bench, two per table! not sure how they expect two people to share one side of a table so we had to ask to have another table added. As there were so many of us we preordered our food (no problem), however when we arrived we had no cutlery on the table and were straight away served our mains! we had to ask for cutlery in order to actually eat which put a sour taste in my mouth. After our starters were cleared, within no less than three minutes i was being handed my main course, again with no cutlery! i haven’t even had a chance to have a sip of wine and let my food go down and again had to ask for cutlery. I had the turkey dinner which looked horrible, awful presentation, the potato’s were burnt and the carrots soft and the turkey cut into two chunks rather than the slices it’s meant to be served as. As I had only just finished my starter I was barely hungry and the dinner wasn’t very nice so i didn’t eat much at all. Our waiter didn’t check to see how our food was, or replace our water or clear our empty glasses during this time either. Once again, straight after our main was cleared we were handed our desserts at the same time as food. I was so disappointed as my dessert was delicious but due to having no breaks in between courses i wasn’t able to finish it. Overall the experience wasn’t great. I have been to other cotes recently where we have had at least 10 minutes between courses, given cutlery before our dinner arrived and the table frequently cleared of finished glasses or empties. Our waiter was miserable and barely spoke to us even though our section was fairly small and he wasn’t very busy. As we were paying the bill and about to leave the waiter told us they had another table coming in 15 minutes so needed to turn the table around. We were only in the restaurant for an hour and a half and for a table of 14 you would expect them to give us AT LEAST two hours to get through three courses. We felt very rushed and it wasn’t à pleasant experience. I wouldn’t recommend this cote and would try to find a different one if in this area hoping to visit!

What I did eat eventually was quite nice but not what I wanted. I wanted to eat a salad and no meat as I'm on a restricted diet. I asked if I could have the tuna nicoise with salmon instead of tuna, which I don't like. I have asked the same thing in other côte restaurants with no problem, in fact it has been offered as an alternative before . Here the manager said no! So I asked if I could have salmon bearnaise with some salad instead of chips and the sauce on the side. The salmon duly came sitting in the sauce accompanied by a bowl of tomatoes! I eventually got a green salad, but not until I had finished the fish. It was not a difficult request to put a slice of salmon instead of a slice of tuna on a salad but too much for this particular côte restaurant.

What has happened to Cote? We had a dreadful meal on Tuesday in St Martin's Lane - the food was simply not very nice and they forgot to credit our bill as promised when we complained about the uncooked and truly awful (not) melted camembert (a manager came over and apologised and promised to take it off the bill which didn't happen and we only realised afterwards as we were in a pre-theatre rush). The steak tartare was sinewy and the 'half' chicken was a couple of fried pieces and was like school cafeteria not a West End restaurant. Wish I'd taken photos especially of the chicken. Used to be great, now is a shadow of its former self. We did have a nice waiter though who was charming, but he couldn't make up for the rest of it (low service score was thanks to the manager's reaction to the camembert and the fact we still paid for it).

Went here to celebrate friends 80th. Was bit disappointed that even though I had mentioned it when booking online, there was no acknowledgement of the occasion for her. When we had been to Cote at Sevenoaks previously, they had given us a bottle of free Prosecco. Staff were friendly but thought some of the food portions were small. I started with the bacon salad, the croutons were soft and seemed like they had been soaked in some stock. The baked ratatouille I had seemed very unbaked - it was a shallow dish of tomato sauce, few tiny bits of aubergine, lots of white beans, no sign of onions and then on top, raw courgette slices! Not the best. My friend whose birthday it was had a salad for her main, it was on a side plate and very small. Came away feeling disappointed and not sure I would go back again.

Out with friends, we needed somewhere we could rely on. The Côte in St Martins Lane was the obvious choice, clean, smart, and with quality food that you can rely on, it was an easy choice. Strangely, our waiter reminded us of ‘Ten second Tom’ from the film ‘Fifty first dates.’ We’d ask for something and then, several minutes later, we’d have to ask again. Unusual for a waiter, but he didn’t remember a single thing all night. Which meant we didn’t have a sweet, having him asked us if we were ready to order, and we saying ‘Give us a moment more’, he never came back, and we had simply gone past the need by then and asked for the bill. But we’re not there for waiters. We were there for the good food and wine, and we had that in abundance. I started with the Crab Maison, but in truth tried everyone’s starter - strange. They were all great. I then moved to the Breton Fish Stew, a regular for a Cote, and it didn’t disappoint. Filled with sea fare and really tasty. I added a little tobasco, but it was good as it was. And that was all washed down with the house white which everyone loved. Truth is, I couldn’t try anyone else’s main dish because all the plates were clean come the end, and that speaks reams. We had booked just on the cusp of the theatre goers leaving, so the restaurant was quiet and relaxed. A lovely evening and great meal, and all agreed, we’d had a good day. The Cote Brasserie finished it off for us beautifully. Huge thanks Cotes.

Booked pre theatre supper here a couple of weeks back so was surprised somewhat to be shown downstairs to ‘our table. Yes it was busy as to be expected on a Saturday but not sure what the criteria is to be able to secure a ground floor table. As usual, our food was very agreeable, we had four different main courses, duck, salmon, fish pie and chicken salad. Chocolate fondant and chocolate salted caramel tart for dessert went down a treat. I think the portion sizes are a tad smaller than they used to be but that’s probably not a bad thing. What is a bad thing though is the overcharging on our bill. Two carafes of wine instead of two glasses, made quite a hefty difference. The explanation given was a change the buttons on the till. I have to say our server was effecient, and very polite, he was working mainly on his own and very apologetic when told of the error for which he quickly rectified. We’ve always been great supporters of the Cote chain, but have come away this evening slightly uncomfortable about our experience at St Martins Lane.

Food was good and value for money as always.. but the speed our courses were turned around in and how quickly the table was cleared made us feel very unwelcome. Won't be visiting with my grandchildren again any time soon.. 43minutes must be an all time record.

Often use Cote where ever we are as you can be assured of great food and service. Cote St Martin's is just as good. Friendly efficient service, great food, spatious restaurant and in the heart of the West End. It was my wife's birthday and we visited Cote ahead of the theatre. They kindly gave us 2 complimentary Kir Royales, which was a lovely gesture. Highly recommended.

As a senior entertainment and hospitality manager of 40 years standing I have brought thousands of people to Cote Martin’s Lane because I know from experience that they won’t let my diners down. Sofia, Natalia and the entire team at Cote Martins Lane are amongst the most efficient, polite warm and friendly people working in the industry, and they are rightly praised by all the guests I send here. My visit today was excellent as always- the warmest welcome, attentive service, great food and drink and a special atmosphere- five stars all round! 🥂

Me and my friend came in on Wednesday evening without a reservation. The lovely Asian lady on the door managed to find us a table - we were rushing to go to the theatre ad were in and out withing 50 minutes. Great service and a happy team even though they were super busy.

The hostess, Sofia who on as a hostess now as I type at 16:45 is the rudest women and incredibly hostile. I gave my name and arrival time of 17:15 I was early so thought I'd have a drink first as it is never fully seated at this time, I was answered sharply with we are fully booked we're always fully booked. To which I replied yes, but when I come in at this time there are always seats so coming in earlier isn't an issue. She then asked me twice if I booked the right venue because she couldn't find my name, I spelt it twice, then without apology said she found it because she was looking at quarter to five even though I said five fifteen. She should be serving steak with the chip she had on her shoulder. Its a disgrace to walk in , do no wrong and be 'greeted with an attitude. I want a reply to this.

Pretty average - they took one of our meals off the bill because this was what the avocado on toast looked like... They replaced it but the second version was no better. Lots of much better places to eat in the area in my opinion.

We visited this branch as we love a Cote and it was just what we needed after a long day in London. Food was delicious as always and from the front of house staff, to the waiter to the manager (special mention Natalia! 👋🏻) everyone gave the best customer service experience. We will return, thanks!

Have been here a few times and unfortunately tonight the service was disappointing. My main course arrived and was not what was ordered - wrong vegetables and no sauce. Rather than take the plate away, it was left in front of me for almost 10 minutes. The food got cold and when I asked for an update the waiter said angrily he had “been in the kitchen 3 times” following up for me. Not ok !

Cheap-ish pre theatre food. Always fast service. We went round the corner for pudding because something in the restaurant didn't smell right. Probably on someone's shoe... yuck! We told them as we left and although they seemed to get it, what could they do?

Can’t complain. A very reasonably priced minute steak frites for a pre-theatre meal. Prompt, good service and comfortable.

Had lunch with my husband and a friend. Husband had rather a small Confit of Duck. Fortunately he has a small appetite. Our friend ordered the Salmon dish and we were all alarmed at the small portion. Looked rather like a largish Fish Finger. When it was mentioned to 2 waitresses it was shrugged off and not taken seriously. We really should have asked to see the manager. Unfortunately you have lost 2 regular customers.

Visited with friends before a performance nearby. We all had different meals (Pork belly, fish pie to name two) all said the food was good and presented well. If we had one criticism as a party it was that the portions are not that big and certainly smaller, then some nearby establishments we have used. The deserts are also very limited in choice so in my opinion is part of the menu I think could be improved. In saying that the desserts chosen were very good, The prices are about the same as nearby restaurants overall and the staff very friendly and attentive. I would certainly try the restaurant again if in the area.

Food was really not that great for the price and really small portions.. but the waiter was really nice!

Not great. Food took a while to arrive even though the restaurant was almost empty. steak was tepid so sent it back. French onion soup wasn't particularly hot either. One of our party's food was forgotten and came after everybody had finished. No chamomile tea (but lots of other flavours?). Teacup was dirty so swapped it. After all that, no apologies whatsoever and the waitress had the cheek to ask for a review. Well this is it.

Been away from the City for just about a year and food price went bonkers. Bank card sized festive mille feuill and a latte for £10+, and this Paul certainly is not the most comfortable one in London. Probably my last visit, adieu

For the price they charge, I would expect much better service. We had a dinner for my anniversary. I specified that, when booked the table, however no one greeted us for our celebration. We had 6 course tasting menu. Food was ok, but not more than that. Despite being a French restaurant, I sensed a lot of middle-eastern notes in spices and sauces. My wife did not touched the mushrooms, but no one asked her if she wants something else. I was almost running for the waitress to get the bill. After all that, 13.5% were included for the service fee. Don’t understand how restaurant with such service gets a Michelin star. Very disappointed. I am sure there are better venues in London
