Cote Brasserie - Cheltenham in Cheltenham

We visited as part of a special celebration, and were really looked after by the staff, who could not do enough for us, even getting us a card and several other lovely gestures that we really appreciated and made it very special. The food was delicious, and we had a really lovely time.

Wonderful all round, team are very friendly and good was very delicious. Pork belly was very yummy and I had the trio of desserts which hit a spot I didn't know I needed hitting mmmmm.

Pre booked for lunch mid-week (Tue). Opted for Prix Fixe - always good value & a carafe of white. It was our anniversary, super happy to have a corner table complete with a sprinkle of confetti & a greeting card awaiting our arrival. Complimentary Kir royale was delightful! Quick service, good menu served by friendly staff. Highly recommend.

The food was lovely but what made it for us was Alex the waitress. She was attentive and went out of her way to accommodate our wished changing things ie veg instead of salad potatoes not fries . She worked really hard serving lots of people in the restaurant. Great service.

Eaten many times at Cotes generally very good. To day however my steak and source was served cold. The manager was very apologetic and immediately offered to replace the meal. What really annoyed me was when the bill was presented a service charge was added. It seems now that this charge is not for service but just an automatic added charge to the cost of your meal Totally wrong a service charge should be at the customer's discretion based on the service received Restaurants like The Prithvi, La Muse leave the service charge to the discretion of the customer as it should be Keith Graham

Having booked for an anniversary meal, I was a little sceptical when I then read reviews. I needn't have worried. All staff were friendly and welcoming, and our waitress Emily was very helpful and attentive. Our food was delivered promptly, my only slight critism was that my food was not as hot as I would have liked, but not enough to warrant a complaint. Moules & Frites was enjoyed, as was the Mushroom Bourguignon - vegetarians be aware, I had to double check that it wasn't actually beef!! Delicious desserts rounded off a very pleasant evening.

Welcoming and friendly service with the waitress being enthusiastic about dishes and our choices. Food was nicely presented and tasty. Busy restaurant so best to book. There is a fixed price menu which seemed good value.

Have been before and it was amazing.... OH DEAR, what a difference a year makes. Staff were ok, nothing special. Took a while to have our order taken, then had to wait for the drinks. Ordered bread, butter was solid, couldn't spread it. Calamari came with Provencal mayo. This looked and tasted like Hellmans with red sauce added. Where was the Tartare sauce or even aioli. The souffle was lovely but came with the smallest jug of sauce ever. Nothing like the one pictured on the website. My minute steak was cold with a small portion of fries. Don't even ask about the side salad. The Poulet Breton was presented terribly and the plate was too small. Ordered the Diane sauce and this was also tiny. Still don't agree with card only payments and having to ask for the "tip" to be removed. Hardly anyone ever does, it's embarassing. What has changed?????????? Come on Cote, investigate.

13th Jan. After a friendly welcome the service was a bit chaotic and the food was just poor (duck a l'orange dry, burger actually inedible (wife left it and went home hungry!) twice cooked chips barely any different to fries, steaks were OK, but then even I can cook steak! All in all I feel its £200+ I could have done better with. Then it got really bad, the whole night on the loo when the only thing I had different to everyone else all day was their soft cheese selection. Too ill to complain the next day so wife did; their response was simply shocking, totally dismissive bordering on rude (she said.) Left in no doubt they were going to do absolutely nothing about their cheese. Just glad my 86 year old mother didn't have any and suggest your's doesn't either. I see that up until November this place had nothing but good reviews, since then all bad; wonder what changed?

First of all a huge thanks to William ( believe was covering upstairs but helped us even though we were sitting downstairs )As previous comments on here food good- (tad bit expensive- HOWEVER service UNACCEPTABLE. We had to wait around 30 minutes between starters been cleared and main course and only because we asked where the food was ( there were about 10 tables around us and NOT one had food). No real apology offered but we were celebrating ours friends wedding did not want to cause a scene. I asked for the bill from a manager at the bar and after 15 minutes had to chase and this is where our Knight in shining armour rose on and we had the bill in one minute.An idea for the owners sack the manager and promote William.If a manager reads this and would like to explain the awful service, please do not say you were busy as surely you knew it would be busy on A Saturday and staff accordingly. We did not ask for a reduction and we live in Manchester. Think you owe our friends whose wedding meal this was a discount if they visit again and improve your service.

I live within a few minutes walk of cote and have used it many times with friends and for special occasions I have never had such a bad experience My friend and I arrived ; we were ignored for quite some time , eventually someone came along. No greeting of any description in fact we felt like an inconvenience We were shown to our seats then ignored for 15 minutes whilst they cleared the table next to us and then sprayed it as if it was the most important job in the restaurant The place was nearly empty so I couldn’t see why clearing the table was more important than serving customers In the mean time another lady arrived at the desk and she was ignored for at lease 5 minutes I had ordered the champagne brunch this never arrived, we ordered coffees. I ordered a flat white , this arrived and was a cappuccino The main then arrived , no presentation, warm and hard poached eggs. We then tried to catch the attention of any member of staff, there were plenty of them but they seemed intent on folding napkins We had to eventually go and get one I said that I was really not happy with the whole experience I then foolishly assumed that the waiter would go and tell the manager, nothing happened When the bill arrived I told them to remove the service charge. The food tasted like boil in the bag food and I will not be returning Not surprised that a few days before Christmas that the restaurant was nearly empty

I booked the champagne breakfast for myself and my two daughters. Previously I’d always had great food and service. Not sure what’s happened recently? In a nutshell, our orders weren’t taken, after 20 minutes of sitting there my daughter had to go and speak to someone. When the food arrived it was warm but definitely not hot, my potatoes could have done with another ten minutes in the oven, the rest of the breakfast tasted ok, it was more the temperature of our food really. My daughter ordered a vegan breakfast. The fake ‘bacon’ arrived chopped up into the tiniest of pieces. Seemed like they’d run out and were trying to disguise this fact? When the bill arrived I was overcharged for a flat white that was already included in the price. Added to that was a £6 service charge, I asked them to remove this. The staff just seemed uninterested and didn’t seem to have a clue what was going on. The manager ( I assume) forgot a customers coffee and shouted down the restaurant really loudly “ sorry, have it on the house” There was no music on so the atmosphere was really flat considering it was a week before Christmas. Definitely won’t be rushing back anytime soon

The 'average' rating we've given is a generalisation of our entire experience with Cote Cheltenham which did not meet our expectations during recent visits to other branches. It's the second time in less than a month where the demeanour of the staff appeared unfriendly, slightly inept and inattentive. We must however exclude the assumed manager of the branch who on both occasions was friendly and welcoming as we first entered. Our party of five ordered and were served coffees quite quickly. However, the quality of the flat whites varied widely and were not barista-standard with my own more like a luke-warm weak latte with no coffee art present. It was then between 20 and 25 minutes before our brunch plates arrived and were offered with a level of detachment - this at a time when there were less than 10-15 clients present. Although the food itself was passable, the 'Dingley Dell ham' appeared indistinguishable from a supermarket pack. Whilst we waited, several fresh customers arrived and the lack of apparent staff acknowledgement meant that one left after waiting several minutes. The access to the first floor toilets was 'tired' and a little grubby whilst the men's toilet really needed some TLC with grimy floor grouting and a loose toilet seat. We must say that we have mostly enjoyed our Cote experiences and believe that this was just a blip which might easily fixed with more staff 'empathy' training and timely facilities maintenance.

Terrible experience from the usual Cote standard. The food was lukewarm at best. Also we were made to feel very welcome by the staff. Drinks and food slammed on the table and lovely hearing the ‘huffing and sighing’ from some members of staff. It took close to an hour between ordering and the food arriving. Note to management at Cote Cheltenham….don’t hire student staff who can’t be arsed to be there. We will not be returning

Disappointing and not up to the standard of other Cote restaurants we have visited. The minute steaks we ordered were over cooked, fatty with a large piece of inedible gristle. The garnish of rocket was limp. Very disappointing.

Extremely disappointing experience. Cote is one of our go to local restaurants where we have always had a good experience and lovely food . On this occasion the parsnip soup was cold and had to be sent back, friends prawn Thermidor looked like the cheese sauce had solidified and was sent back, to be replaced with a parsnip soup which was watery with no substance, again sent back to be replaced. The main course, a mushroom Bourgogne, lacked substance with only mushrooms and a small amount of mash potato, the butternut squash pithivier was microwaved extremely hot but the vegetables were cold., the Christmas Turkey meal was dry and lacked all the vegetables that were advertised with the meal, the disabled toilets had no paper towels or toilet paper. Timing it was an 1,5 hours before we received our starter then another 45 minutes until we received our mains, no one likes to be rushed but that was ridiculous. We did ask what was the problem but none of the staff would advise the issues the restaurant was clearly enduring.

Horrible experience. 3 of us put in a drab upstairs space with a table of 15 very loud people. Could not hear each other. Ate food and left as soon as we could. So disappointing.

Went to the restaurant for my father in laws 83rd birthday. Our party of six arrived on time and ordered within 10 minutes of sitting. The restaurant was about 3/4 full and had a nice vibe about it. Well 45 minutes later we were still waiting.. the manager came over with some complimentary olives and bread as an apology for the delay as apparently one of the steaks had been overcooked and it was being redone, we were told our food would be 6-7 minutes. I don’t know what they used in the kitchen to tel the time but 20 minutes later we were still waiting. We asked a waitress what the delay was and she said that she would find the manager and get back to us . Another 5 minutes and we were told that our order wouldn’t be long but she didn’t know how long !!! We chose to leave and not wait any longer as by now the evening had been ruined .

We have dined at Cote many times and usually have a good experience. However, on this occasion the food was very slow to arrive and when it did, it was not good. When we let our waiter know about this, he immediately offered us free desserts, which was a nice gesture. At the end of the meal he told us that our food was not on the bill as it had taken far too long to arrive and, when it did, we weren’t happy with it. This was the saving grace, the gentleman who looked after us did it properly and, as a result, we will return as it was undoubtedly a one off experience. I think the restaurant was too busy, not our problem, but a reason for the delays if not the poor food.

After having an amazing experience at Cote in Gloucester Quays we decided to venture here prior to a show at the town hall. We arrived as per our booking time, were given a variety of menus and shown to our table. There seemed to be lots of staff but none who wanted to make eye contact so we waited for 10mins before our wine order was taken. A further 45mins later our starters arrived. The food was good but we started to worry about the time as we had a show to go to. A bottle of water was plonked on the table but failing to get the attention of anyone we had to take the water glasses from the adjacent table to drink it. An hour later our chateaubriand arrived, ordered medium it looked like it had been cooked the day before, it was grey and looked dry. At this point we decided to leave, we offered to pay for what we had even though we left 1/2 bottle of wine in our glasses but our server, seemingly resigned to the situation, told us not to. We left and went to the Ivy who served us quickly and with amazing food.

I was very disappointed with Cote brasserie. We had to wait near an hour for our food. I ordered the fancy fish pie. There was more sauce than fish in it, The portion was very small.. It coast £15.50 and it didnot come with any veg.. Which made it very expensive dish. The only good point was the food was hot. Will not be going there again

Very enjoyable lunch at Côte with family. Excellent service & good vegetarian choices. Only one negative comment. I thought I had been served wilted greens with my quiche instead of green salad. Turns out it was salad - dressing put on too early & made it soggy. Still ate it!

Really enjoyed our meal here with friends. The vegan choices were delicious. Staff service was extremely good and friendly. Definitely a good red wine too. I also stupidly left my handbag on the chair and on going back after evening closing time they still kindly helped recover it. I will be back.

What a fabulous meal! So tastey….my wife had steak and said “ best ever” perfectiy cooked… I had the duck in orange…amazing .. I can also recommend the French lager METEOR that they serve

Whilst the food was good, there was no hand sanitizer on arrival and the menus were paper not laminated and were not given to each customer to keep, therefore these were obviously passed from table to table. Didn’t feel coronavirus safe.🙁
