Costa Coffee - Queensgate SC in Peterborough

Popped in late afternoon and had cappuccino and chocolate twist pastry 👍 Not a big fan of Costa but found it all to be ok and staff friendly enough. What I can’t believe is how scary walking around Peterborough is nowadays with people lurking around and being intimidating. I won’t be returning!

Great spot for the coffee. It’s our fav place to hangout in the mornings. My mrs loves it there. We are there almost everyday.

When I visited Costa it was quite busy but staff were working hard to get people served. Unfortunately as they were busy serving people this did mean that not all tables were being cleared. A bit of a shame but they were all working hard so can be excused.

Upon entering you were asked to track and trace either via nhs app or there own version the asked if drinking in or take out. Once placed order you were then shown to your seat and it was plain to see that table and chairs had been wiped down with antibacterial wipes. As soon as people had left table it was cleared and cleaned from edge to edge including seat and back of chair for next customer. Social distancing was observed at all times as was the wearing of masks. As usual std of coffee and food was very good keep up the good work you should be proud of yourselves an example to other establishments to follow.

I called in for a coffee in the middle of window shopping. Good service and a lemon tart washed down with hot coffee. A perfect break.

Absolutely disgusted by the customer service today. Me and my 2 year old went in to the queen's gate Costa and was treated horrendously. I am 9 months pregnant and have Crohn's disease. I asked if I could have the code to use the toilets and they told me it was out of order. I then explained my situation and asked if I could use the staff toilet at which point they told me it wasn't their problem and it is company policy not to let anyone use them. I was completely humiliated.

We have visited Costa coffee, in different locations, on numerous occassions, but this has to be the worse. The staff didnt give us the impression they could be bothered to serve us. We made our order, and were served different food from what we asked for. When this was pointed out, we were made to feel it was our fault. We got our two shortbread cookies but were only given one plate. There was also no sweetners available, and it wasn't as if they had run out, as all the containers were filled with brown and white sugar and it was only 1030am. Pretty poor show all round.

Lovely Christmas based costa meal. Great quick service. Lovely hot food. Tasted great. Really clean.

I have eaten and drunk in dozens of Costa coffee shops over the years, and, usually this has been a good or excellent experience. However, yesterday I visited the Costa in the middle of the Queensgate Shopping Centres in Peterborough with my partner and my mum, who's 82. This is a coffee shop "in the open" in the middle of the main thoroughfare which runs through this indoor shopping mall. The seating area was slightly cold as the large doors to the shopping centre, about 50 yards away, were wide open on both sides, allowing a strong through-flow of chilly air from outside the centre. In addition, despite there being 2 large coffee-making machines behind the counter, only one of these was being used by an unfortunate, over-worked young lady who was doing her best to cope with a non-stop stream of orders. My mum and partner found a seat while I queued for completely unacceptable 20 minutes for just 3 hot chocolates. These were delicious, however and testament to the efforts of the young lady making the hot drinks. However, my mum wanted to use the toilets afterwards and this is really where my biggest complaint starts. These toilets are underneath the coffee shop and there are 27 steps down to the toilets. My mum has used this Costa many times in the very recent past and was aware of these steps. However, she was not aware that Costa had decided to install one of their infamous digilocks on the toilet door, to prevent their use by non-customers. The code to this digilock is on the till receipt in the usual way, we now know. But we didn't know that and didn't see any signs to that effect before my mum began her long descent. Of course, she couldn't access the toilet due to the newly-installed so returned up the 27 steps to the coffee shop where a member of staff who was clearing a table gave her someone else's till receipt but did not explain exactly where in the till receipt the door code was shown. My mum descended the 27 steps again and tried to access the toilet using the wrong number on the till receipt. Therefore, she climbed the 27 steps again and returned to where we were sitting to recount the story to us. My partner then went to the toilet with her, taking our till receipt to open the digilock with the access code. What they found was utterly disgusting. Filthy, dirty, poorly-lit toilets, one with a large tied in the bowl and the toilet was blocked. I didn't see the toilets myself but I understand they had clearly not been cleaned recently and were generally a disgrace. If Costa are to use a digilock on their toilets and I understand why they might want to, then this should VERY clearly signposted, especially when the toilets are 27 steps below the coffee shop. And surely, in a food establishment, shouldn't the toilets be a shining example of cleanliness to show that the establishment itself takes health, safety and cleanliness seriously? I would have thought so. And I would also suggest that the Environmental Health Officer at Peterborough City Council could give this particular coffee shop some good advice on public health and cleanliness, in particular in relation to their toilets. My mum, previously a regular visitor, will not be visiting again.

Didn’t take down my order correctly, ignored me when I asked for my correct order and then rolled their eyes soooo loudly when I queried it - I actually couldnt be bothered to queue again as I was told to - so just shared my kids drinks - do please tell me how a lemon muffin can be both stodgy and dry at the same time - how are you still in business???

Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely coffee and gingerbread. Would have been a five but it was freezing. The cafe could do with "windbreaks" to protect the customers and staff from the ten force gales coming through the doors.

Unfortunately, as much as the coffee was very tasty, it was not very hot. Service was efficient and the tables were cleared quickly after customers had left.

Not a place I would go specially for coffee especially there are so many good ones in town. The Americano I had was sour. Looks like the grind was either too course or over-extraction. Maybe it was an off chance. I wouldn't go back especially there so many others to try. Disappointing.

Took time out to get a drink and a light snack staff very pleasant, very clean nice place to rest and relax before the next onslaught.

Unfortunately only one coffee machine was working so service was a bit slow. Coffee was good but only warm not hot.

Great place to stop whilst shopping or meeting up with friends. Good location for people watching too! Coffee great and service nearly always quick...bit of a wait this time if the year though.

It was quite busy and it took a time to get served only to receive a lukewarm flat white. Lemon tart delicious.

Lovely cup of cappuccino before driving home. In my opinion this is the best Costa (spalding, Lincoln and Boston being the others I use). Lovely and clean seating area...just a tad noisy and chilly on a bad day (today both Ok)

Nice but noisy place to have a coffee. Right in the middle of the shopping centre so very noisy. They were quite slow clearing the tables and as the cafe is small this was a bit of a problem. The coffee was good and made quite quickly. I had a medium Americano and it was huge.

Stall in middle of Queensgate surrounded by angry mothers and screaming kids. No and no again. Hey ho but wasn't my choice to start with when meeting friends lol

Mientras me encanta Costa Coffee y no importa esperar, pero me encuentro que en todas las Costas que he ido a este tiende a ser el más lento de todos ellos y siempre parece haber un montón de aprendices en que necesitan tomar su tiempo. Los aseos están bajando las escaleras, ofreciendo a los aseos no tienen acceso para personas de movilidad reducida. Habiendo dicho eso, una vez que mi café y magdalenas, estoy más que feliz.

Costa es siempre el lugar estándar para una buena taza de café, sabes que serán bien incluso antes de llegar allí, y no importa la espera, porque el café es tan buena. Yo diría que el servicio es lento, pero no se puede culpar a ellos, ya que siempre están ocupados. Servicio de atención al cliente siempre es excelente y muy servicial!

Fuimos como una familia y pudimos conseguir asientos enseguida, a pesar de estar en el medio de la mitad de plazo. Puede ponerse muy concurrido aquí como está en el centro de Queensgate.

É mais uma rede de sucesso no exterior , lugar organizado, limpo e funcional. Ótimo staff com bons preços.

The coffee and snacks available are great, as with any Costa Coffee Iv visited, but the location makes it a little tricky to fully relax as it is in the center of the mall and is only fenced off by low barriers meaning you are in eyesight of all passing shoppers. Staff seem friendly though and the surroundings are kept clean and presentable. would recommend so long as you don't mind the potential glare of passing shoppers.

Popped into Queensgate centre with my daughter to collect an order. We stopped off at Costa in Queensgate as we often visit a Costa when we are out together. Found a seat straight away, didn't have to wait very long to be served at the counter. My daughter had the hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream and I had a Mocha. We both had a cake to go with our drinks. Good drinks and food at reasonable prices.

This is not your regular Costa branch but a small floorspace area in the centre of the mall, and as a result there is limited seating.Coffee is good and service great but when you sit there, you feel as though you are an exhibit in the zoo !

The location of this Costa is an open cafe in the centre of Queensgate shopping centre so all the passers-by are very close which may feel some customers uncomfortable. Always busy and often has long queues due to its busy location.

Great spot in the centre of queensgate. Always stop in here for a little sit down when I am shopping, never been disappointed, ameretto coffee is amazing and just what is needed to get in with the shopping, staff are friendly, can get bit busy with long queues but it goes down pretty quick

Great place to nip to on your way in/out of the train station or for a sit down to break up your shopping! Never had a problem here. Toilets available for customers. Great service, drinks and food :)

Visited today with a friend, ordered two drinks which came to £4.75, gave the female member of staff a £10 note and she gave me 25 pence change. I said to her that I gave her £10 and she quite bluntly said you gave me a £5 note. I disputed this, she looked in her till called another member of staff over and said I definitely gave her £5.Then she said we will have to check the CCTV, which was fine by me. After about10 minutes a member of staff came over and said you were right and gave me £5. There was no apology, I understand mistakes happen, but come on a bit of customer service wouldn't go amiss.

Busy little coffee shop in the middle of the shopping centre. Coffee was good, staff friendly. Great place to watch the world go by.

In my experience the coffee is poor and weak more watery and gets when in winter time it is situated in a draughty place and doors being open and makes the drinks and coffee cold. but they do have a good manager now who may be trying to improve the place she is good and do hope she gets it back up to good but worth a try by more people.

Good flat white but as other similar places far far too expensive. The cakes etc are so dear it stops you from buying them which is very good for the waistline But why on earth they make one cup at a time when there is always a queue, is beyond belief. People on their lunch hour must go mad waiting

Cold describes the coffee and draughty describes the venue. Waited over seven minutes from paying for 2 coffees to actually receiving them. The Barista taking the money/orders was way quicker than the two baristas making them.This costa is actually situated under the escalator and in the middle of the mall in the line of fire of an exit.We moved twice as the draught was cutting the backs of our necks, but it made no difference, there's no escaping the chilly air coming from the doors or the a/c!! Even the baristas are wearing fleeces and scarves, that's how cold it is. The coffee wasn't all that either, it was not hot and that's probably due to the ambient temperature.

I am a fan of Costa, however this branch is very disappointing. The queues are always massive and I have been quite a few times where staff (mostly 4 or 5 of them) have just been stood there when a large queue is forming and no notice is taken nor any apology for delay, and if in a rush it is very off putting.

We have enjoyed coffee and cake here on several occasions on our trips to Peterborough. It is very light and airy, being set in the Queensgate shopping centre. The usual high Costa standards apply here both in the delicious coffee, tasty sandwiches and moreish cakes. Highly recommended for a tasty treat!

I always have a coffee here when I'm shopping and it's always good. The mushroom and cheese toasties are very tasty!

You can grab some snacks and coffee during you winter shopping :).. me and my family really enjoyed that. always crowded.

We recently stopped in for a cuppa at the Costa at Queensgate. It is convenient in a good location near Marks and Spencer's and Primark and is an excellent place to unwind and recharge while shopping. The service is professional, and the coffee is the usual high quality Costa blend.

Go here all the time. Their very helpful and will make changes to any of the hot drinks if you wish for something a little bit different. Will be returning .

I am a true Costa coffee fab, but as queens gate is so busy so is this shop, their was a little disagreement between staff today whilst a few of us were waiting for our coffees over lack of cups? A few cups were slammed and a few cross words between a few of them, my coffee and cake were as lovely as ever in Costa, but maybe a few more staff could be clearing tables. Not very professional but still a good coffee

The coffee was as you would expect of a Costa coffee (along with there high prices), however it was hot and was made how I requested. If you need a coffee it is quite a good location in the shopping centre although for surrounding you may find a better coffee shop in one of the stores in the centre.

This visit was on a bustling Sunday morning and staff did well to keep up with the onslaught of customers. The selection of cakes and sweets was fresh and abundant and the coffee service was quick and accurate to the order. While very busy, seating was available and comfortable. The site has the Costa brand formula well captured and well executed.

I suppose this is typical of many "Costa" concessions, there is not enough staff on hand to deal with the demand. Here we have a very busy concession in the middle of the shopping centre and the wait time is rarely under 10 minutes.i like Costa coffee but i find myself more and more going to smaller less known cafes that are springing up everywhere

I like the quality of costa coffee and the Queensgate branch is a very convenient location for me.This particular visit was ok.Beverage was good temperature and staff are always pleasant,but not overfriendly ,in this branch.The only thing i would like to improve about the company is a better variety of snacks and lunches.Great coffee selection though which is what it's all about!

What an experience. The young girl on the till was the pleaseantest of them all. The BArista had kept the person in fron t of me waiting for a takeaway because he forgot about her, the gemtleman behind got his before I got mine. Having out 2/3 of my order on the tray another coffee arriced black and wehn asked whether it was a flat white I got a short reply 'Americano'. Whilst waiting for the 3 coffees I was pushed passed twice by a member of staff with no apologises nor request to come passed as she had hot food in her hand.When the coffee eventually arrived on the tray it was tepid and not very nice at allI will think twice about ever going in there again
