I went with my sister and brother-in-law for an early birthday celebration. When we arrived, there were a few tables and chairs outside in the sunshine. As I’m not allowed to sit facing the sun, because of my health, I was able to sit with the sun on my back and part of me was in the shade. They had a cappuccino each and a bacon blini and I had cress and egg sandwiches with a mango and passion fruit cooler. I found mine to be very delicious, though I thought a tad expensive for their coffees and my meal. One of the male staff cleared away the dirty plates and drinks on the different trays, as we sat there. He took ours away, when we finished. I’m not sure if I’ll go by myself to have lunch here.

We were only planning on being in there for 20 minutes but ended up waiting for one of our orders for 30 minutes. One of our orders was fine but the other one we had done through the click and collect app which didn’t go as well. The first problem was that after 10-15 minutes of waiting we were told the food we ordered wasn’t in store and so we were told to call customer service and had to submit a refund request to customer service which was a bit of a pain but ultimately not the staffs fault. Then however they completely forgot about the rest of our order for a further 20 minutes until we asked them where are drinks were. We then got our drinks soon after to which one was missing the extra whipped cream & vanilla syrup, and the other had the lactose free whipped cream even though that’s not what we asked for. We didn’t bother to tell them that the order was slightly wrong as we just wanted to have our drinks and leave at this point. The staff to their credit were very apologetic (mainly because I think they heard us talking about how long it was taking) But we all agreed, including our friend who has worked in a costa before, that although the staff were nice that the service could have been better.

A calm and cosy café in the heart of Exeter. Strong black coffee, all that is needed. Tasty sandwiches. Quick service and fair prices

Sainsburys decided to keep this cafe open. It used to be really good however this morning was diabolical. Order x2 breakfasts....we were given ticket No 1. So, we get someone else's eggs on toast , and had to get the receipt out to corroborate that we actually ordered full English. Whilst engaged with a mos, another breakfast tray arrives but again not our order. Eventually brunch arrives, and it was very cold, possibly the mini breakfast was sat on the side whilst the full English was cooked. Congealed egg, sausage which was undercooked. Perhaps some training may need to be undertaken about food safety. Who wants to be ill over Christmas. Ending on a positive, the Americano was good and I saved myself some calories. Such a shame.

Visited early on a Saturday morning before it was really busy, and had a friendly welcome and quick service. The shop was clean and comfortable. Not sure what it'd be like once it gets busy, but my experience was good.

Waited in the queue to order for 15 minutes , then 40 minutes to get our food ! With a 2 year old and a 4 year old this is really poor! There were only about 10 people in the whole restaurant ! The food was mostly ok but daughter’s jacket potato not hot ! Will not risk it again and have had to wait a long time in previous visits but this has finished us for trying again !!! And they had no drinks left for the children’s meals and there was some cheese in the children’s beans and they are allergic to dairy !!!!!

Good tasting food and quick service. Nice open area in the back to sit down as well. However, it can be quite loud and busy during peak lunch hours. Overall, worth a visit.
