Costa Coffee Haxby in York

Dark & dismal. Barista o viously didn't like his job

Had a Raspberry and Almond slice don't know how long it had been their but it was stale.

Coffee lovely. Unfortunately unlike most Costa shops no dogs allowed.

It's such a shame, it used to be a lovely community cafe, always clean and tidy and staff would always chat to the customers. Something recently has changed and tables are not always clean and the community part seems to have gone.

We have just been into Costa coffee Haxby where my daughter bought 3 hot chocolates. They were not very chocolatey at all. Quite weak actually. My daughter asked for cream but was told they didn’t have any. We sat down to be inundated with small flys. We moved to another area and they were still flying around. As my daughter went to try and knock them away, she accidentally knocked my drink. I went to ask for some cloth and when we told the joint boy serving us about the flies flying around he made some excuse about the company had been told. My son-in-law left his drink and my daughter said look. They said they didn’t have any cream but some people that came in after us had cream. Not happy about the flies or service. And what happened to our cream. As for the option below saying which dishes do you recommend it would not let me write NONE.

I find this place lacks atmosphere. Also there is a new national policy to allow dogs into many of the Costa coffee houses. This particular franchise in Haxby does not allow dogs, even though there is a large area that could separated into a place for them. It’s an ok place, but I shan’t be going back.

Excellent franchised coffee house. Ideal for meetings and networking groups. Great customer service, too.

Enjoying a nice quite conversation with a friend whom I had not seen for a while .when a mother brought a gang of screaming kids in which changed the atmosphere .if was difficult trying to hear are conversation

Like most Costa outlets it it's s cosy, clean & has friendly staff.

Probably one of the more poorly run Costa franchises I've been to. Three separate occasions over months there have been not enough staff and the staff are not trained to be fast... So hanging around for ages in a queue only 6 people long. Make sure you have enough time and are not in a hurry.

First impression was how spacious and clean the cafe was. (Particularly good for wheelchair users). A smile and friendly welcome goes a long way and it soon became clear everyone was greeted in the same positive way. (Very rare - so a big pat on the back to the staff). As each group of guests left, the table was cleared and the patrons given a fond farewell. A feel good cafe away from the hustle and bustle of similar establishments on the A64 or retail parks closeby. I suggest a visit 😊

Arrived shortly before closing (we'd had a mission getting here with the kids) and felt bad ordering 5 awkward drinks when the staff might well have been thinking about closing up. The chap on the counter (Chris, I think) was as accommodating as if it were the middle of the day. Fair play to him - I reckon I'd have been pretty cheesed off if I was in his shoes! Thanks for helping to not disappoint the kids at the end of a hot and bothered day! 💪😄👍

Most the staff are friendly but seemed like too much effort at times.

Wasn’t much choice in terms of food; there were no sandwiches as they forgotten to order in, so just had cakes and coffee. Plenty of seats, but lacked a bit of atmosphere.

Typical Costa, good coffee, nice and roomy.

As Costa goes this is a lovely one. Plenty of room, good choice of food/drinks. Staff are friendly. Christmas drinks and food now selling.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help me with my dad who is very old and needs extra support.

Dirty tables, slow service but not surprising as there were only 2 members of staff on duty so can't blame them!

Standard costa cafe ... the difference here? The staff!!! Lovely, cheerful, friendly... makes a lot of difference.. we'll done amazing people 👏

Visited costa in Haxby my local costa coffee shop, ordered a karge hot chocolate and 2x brown toast butter and marmalade- i was told they didnt have any marmalade so i got jam instead. However the young gentleman ( he had a beard) i didnt catch his name) went to the stores and found me some marmalade and brought it to my table. Now thats excellent customer service. Thank you so much for your kindness. 😀 I hope costa rewards you xx

Friendly coffee shop with decent food options.

The lighting is quite damp and make customers feel depressed. Please change the lights to more brighters

We always enjoy our costa coffees but this was the first time we had ordered on from the Haxby branch. We ordered 2 takeaway coffees a decaf and a regular cappuccino. Firstly they hadn't indicated on the cups which was which, they were both way to hot to drink for ages and thirdly they were as bitter as bitter could be, totally undrinkable so we ended up throwing them both away! Had we have sat in we would definitely have complained but by the time they were cool enough to drink we had driven to far to turn round... total wais of money and definitely won't be calling there again....

This Costa franchise previously had some service issues, but the new manager there, Chris, is a true diamond of a man and has quickly turned the place around. It's now again a lovely community hub and a place to hang out and relax.

Called in last week on way to work, place seems to be looking a lot better. The new boys are very friendly and smiling, was made to feel very welcoming. Definitely going to pop in more!

Went in to costa yestersay for the first time in months as the last time was just staff members moaning about anything and everything.. Well this time wasjust a breath of fresh air with , what looked like a completely new team.. smiling , pleasant , good service....and with that came a busy and buzzing atmosphere .. well done new team costa haxby...dont go anywhere

Staff shortage unable to sit inside take away only

Not good at all cups were dirty took them back and got more stained cups & tea pots, costa in haxby is really not good, will. be going else were!

Went in this morning for a coffee and hot chocolate. Both drinks were weak and I was waiting over 15 minutes, with only 1 person in front of me. The server checked her phone in between making the hot chocolate and the coffee. There was also no cream ready which added to the wait time.

But wish they would rebrand a better quality of mug, they are unnecessarily chunky

Brilliant staff, brilliant coffee and food was lovely and hot. Manager couldn't do enough for you. New but definitely puts the effort in with the customers and making the shop look tidy.

Most of the staff were teenagers, the manager is immature and clearly doesn’t know what she’s doing. Would not visit again.

Had to take back back vanilla latte it was cold forgot my cake taken back again they forgot the vanilla the place was not busy !

Grumpy staff on my last visit unfortunately. Drink ok.

Probably just caught them on a bad day but the staff were rude. Asked for a sweetener as they’re behind the counter due to restrictions, and got told ‘ can’t you ask before I make the drinks, I’ve got a million things to do.’

Just called at Haxby and visited Costa. I have to say we were very impressed. The seating areas were very organised and clean Social distancing easy to follow and well organised. I have visited numerous Costas but not found one to match this. The staff were very friendly, toilets spot on, what's not to like. Great place Cheers guys

Considering the number of mothers, children and their pushchairs that visit the cafe and rearrange furniture to suit their needs, don't replace it and leave it all as they moved it too. Then leave the floor looking like war zone leaving the staff to clear up after them. There is also the problem mothers who use the place as a creche, ignore the children who run around, run on the chairs and settees while mothers just sit and talk. If you go in for only coffee to catch up with friends, forget it. There is also the problem of Health and Safety, due to children running round and hot drinks being carried. After all that I think the staff there are fantastic, friendly and helpful. The shop is great but could better organised

The reason this coffee shop is here is to provide a freindly place for anyone to while away a few minutes. It's run by a local church - although you wouldn't know it without close inspection of the notices/leaflets around the place.

Positioned in the corner of the shopping centre, it is a nicely layed out coffee house with ample seating. Staff pleasant and service good - better than some Costa's I have been to. Parking can be a problem particularly on a Saturday when people are busy shopping. However most of the time parking is not a problem. Recommended for a change.

Large spacious Costa, lighting too dark a bit gloomy and some of the chairs were filthy but friendly staff and drinks etc fine

Standard Costa. Nice surroundings, decent coffee and amazing toasties at scandalous prices. This one, being in a village, is much less busy than most, but always seems to have an obligatory group of tools talking loud enough to bring the rest of Haxby into their conversation. Sadly, it's a better coffee shop than the other independent cafes on the same road, which I don't like admitting, but there you go. Costa have the coffee shop cracked and deep pockets to smash the little guys out of the water. Sorry little guys.

A perfectly serviceable Costa exactly as you would expect anywhere. The staff were cheery and pleasant. The store was fully accessible with suitable toilets.

Lively happy coffee shop with friendly staff and great coffee and snacks. Good for children and lots of space for buggies and shopping. Can chill out here with friends.

Used Costa on our numerous visits to the Solicitors. Very handy, especially on the cold days. Always found the staff very friendly and helpful. I also noticed on a previous visit that there is a Private Room which can be used for functions. There was a band practicing, may be the Village Band? Great idea for a close knit village.

Always welcome and I can give something back.
