Costa Coffee in Wigan

At least Costa Coffee is one of the original businesses still, operating at the Grand Arcade. This is one place that we visit and have always been pleased with the coffee and service.

Have sent in a complaint on the official website but thought I would make it public too. Horrific service. Wanted to pay for two coffees using points collected on the app. Instead of politely explaining ‘Sara’ who was serving us simply barked “you’ve got x amount that’s not enough” we asked if we could pay the extra and told we could buy one coffee with points. I then said I thought that was a bit outdated and they should update the system so extra could be paid by cash I was greeted with extreme rudeness from ‘Liam’. I have worked in retail for years and can tell you the correct reply would have been to agree to pass on feedback or explain the system. Help us find a solution. Not to pull faces and grin at your colleagues where I can see you which he did. One coffee was then made the incorrect size - to the bafflement of the girl when we checked the receipt. The coffees were too hot - a recurring issue at this branch. I want to drink now not in 20 mins. Liam is often rude and has clear favourites he saves his politeness for. Also don’t think it’s appropriate to have long hair hanging down over food and drink - tie it back the same as a female would. Dirty tables everywhere (see photos). One woman had to move a lot of rubbish just to be able to sit down - note there were free members of staff stood doing nothing. Charged incorrectly on the points system for syrups. I get the impression ‘Liam’ is some sort of line manager. He should NOT be - absolutely disgusting attitude. The staff need more training and a lesson in hard work. Will not return.

Costa Coffee inside the Grand Arcade is a typical Costa however their selection of cakes falls short of most Costas. Nevertheless it’s a nice area to enjoy a coffee and a quiet moment

Having visited a good few Costa's we were very impressed with this little one in the Grand Arcade. A pet hate of mine is tables not getting cleared and wiped but not only is this done here, but one of the staff also wiping down the chairs. Beautifully clean. Friendly staff. Well done everyone!

When is a good time to rest and get a Costa Coffee? A. When the premises have spare seats and tables..... But not on this visit! This was my first experience at any Costa when there was nowhere to sit! This was a on Monday. A couple in front of had ordered and collected their coffee and had to nowhere to sit down and enjoy their drinks, even after waiting sometime. Reluctantly I told the barista I had to give it a miss on this occasion as there is no joy drinking standing up and waiting for a table to be free! Maybe it’s time Costa found a larger town center premises! This one is in the Grand Arcade was the previous location of the famous Wigan Casino. There is some interesting memorabilia on the first floor by Costa which relates to the Casino which is also worth viewing if your here. There is also a plaque on the ground floor to acknowledge the Casino was here!

Went for a coffee today no teacakes had to have fruit loaf. The selection of cakes and pastries very poor. The tables full no one clearing very poor.

Visited for a drink and to rest my feet after a busy shopping session. Surprisingly at 4pm Wigan was not as busy as I had expected nor was Costa, the service was quick and friendly and the coffee was Devine.

We had a recent trip to Wigan which resulted in a stop at Costa for a cappuccino and a cake. The staff are always quite chatty and make a good coffee. On this visit it was very busy but we managed to get on the comfy settee.

Met up with some friends for a coffee before shopping, the staff are friendly, well mannered and nothing seems too much trouble. Keep up the good work. :)

I love going to Costa. The main reason I use the Grand Arcade. The staff are friendly and they know their customers quite well.

Costa is a great coffee shop they have lovely staff great food and a great atmosphere it's fabulous never had a problem I would recommend to go here Well done COSTA

The staff here are excellent. I agree with the other reviews, the manager is always friendly and welcoming,as are the rest of the staff. The coffee is made just as you like it and food always looks fresh. This is a very busy place, however alway clean and tidy. EXCELLENT!

Coffee just before they closed on a Sunday afternoon and the staff were still chatty and serving quality coffee, just what we needed before our journey home. They did not rush us but continued to restock shelves and clean tables.

Nothing special, staff were friendly however work needed to be done on the cleaning side. Prices reflect on the costa coffee chain

Store manager is a credit to the company, she always has a cheery smile and interacts well with customers. The location is excellent and clean.

It's a coffee shop which is part of a franchise and it offers the same as other shops in the chain. It serves a purpose and is acceptable
