Costa Coffee in Edinburgh, City of

I recently visited Costa Coffee with a friend and ordered a few drinks. We had an incident with the staff that made our experience very poor with almost no apologies from them. I have done completed a survey came by email about this visit which no response was achieved.

Coffee shop chain. It is inside the station/shopping center. Good attention, fast service and very rich products with a good price. We ordered a frappuccino and cappuccino and it was about £10

Costa Coffee chain coffee shop. The venue is down a few steps from Princes Street and connects directly to Waverley Mall. The interior is spacious and has plenty of tables to choose from. Its roof is glass, so you can see the rain or the seagulls walking above the place. They serve well and in general the food is good value for money. Their Christmas drinks are recommended.

I don't like Costa Coffee, neither this one nor anywhere else. I would tell them to have coffee somewhere else.

Good hot chocolate however abysmal service by the aloof young male barista today morning. He probably thinks the whole world spins around him. LMAO.

The 2 baristas who were serving on 13 December 2024 at around 11:30AM (the feminine young lad with ?wavy hair who was taking orders and one of the girls who was prepping coffee) were so rude and not friendly, probably some of the worst servers. They need more and better communication skills training for customer service. They should not just go to this work because they need money. Friendliness and warmth are required if you are a human dealing with other humans. I simply asked if I could have some napkin for my coffee and the young man handed over the tray and napkin to me with a disgraceful facial expression as if the whole word is living off his salary. Their poor behaviours is the reason why their life will never ever be upgraded from this barista life at Costa. 🤢 Bye.

Disappointed to find out it is an extra 80p on top of already expensive coffee to have an alternative milk in this case oat. Staff didn't say anything and apparently there's small print on the board somewhere.

Pretty good service and reasonably clean , ! Food and Coffee up to usual good !!

Super friendly and clean for a station, they have a whole floor, the bad thing is that there are no bathrooms upstairs but great.

Quick service and friendly staff in this Costa accessed from princes street, or the inside of the mall. Lots of seats available when we visited around 9am on a weekday. Service was quick despite the queues and the staff were friendly. Coffee was good and nice and hot as per the ask.

Costa lot but good coffee (small white-takeaway) and great view of Castle.

As with all costa cafes. It does a great coffee when you need one. Staff very helpful too.

Can't beat a coffee when you're on a very early train journey. Opened promptly, staff friendly and quick service.

There was no AC, and it was boiling. Much warmer than the outside. Staff was very friendly and coffee was as you would expect.

Coffee is great, staff are great, location is great. Atmosphere is not. The café was far too warm during the past few times I've visited, to the point that I felt faint. Was simply too uncomfortable to stay for any longer than receiving my order.

I didn’t really order anything here. It just looks so tired. It was full of smoke, has very low ceilings, dirty trolleys everywhere. Needs some tlc

Large and welcoming place on the terrace above the station, more complicated to reach than the one near the tracks at the station which however has no seats. Quiet and comfortable place if you have to wait for many hours at the station, there are power sockets near the sofas and there are various vegan options on the menu.

Polite and efficient staff. I tried the new mango berry bubble tea - didn’t like it, too sour for my taste.

Far too expensive for coffee, I actually prefer McDonald's cappuccino to this place and at half the price. Ridiculous

Delivered over an hour late, and the brownies weren't the gluten free ones, so I couldn't even eat them. I'd rather have gotten them refunded.

I am a regular customer in this branch of Costa and last week I received an outstanding gesture and fantastic piece of customer service from one of your staff. Whilst in the queue I froze my bank account accidentally on the app and my card didn’t work, as I scrambled around frantically for some change to pay for my coffee the young lady serving said “ it’s ok I will pay for your coffee, you come here all the time” and promptly took out her phone and paid for my drink. A lovely thoughtful gesture which was very much appreciated

Costa coffee is a good place to go for a coffee and a lovely toast food is good staff very friendly I would recommend it

Decent Costa, but need to pay extra for toilets

This is in a prime location at the heart of Edinburgh city. Just outside Edinburgh Waverly station.

Heading into town stopped off for breakfast. I had toast, hubby had breakfast roll as they have a deal on just now. It was nice. It gets really busy and sometimes not enough staff to deal with it. Staff look as if they are not interested in serving the public.

Depending on who is working depends on if you get a good coffee,a few times I have walked in and seen who is working and because they have served me a bad coffee previously and just walked out and went elsewhere,there is 1 older guy who works there on certain days I don't know his name but he is very polite and helpful and makes a good coffee must be about 35-40 .There's a smaller women with dark hair who is there quite a lot and makes the worst coffee and seems like she doesn't want to be there

Handy location for meetings right next to the train station, or for grabbing a sandwich before getting on your train

Rather warm in this Costa, wih this been within the Princes Mall, glazed. If the sun is out it will feel a bit muggy in the seating inside. Otherwise great friendly service and food

Just need more vegan options and new products to liven up the menu like vegan sausage roll and vegan chicken panini.

After traveling from Bristol it was a very welcome pot of tea and a great welcome to a fabulous city

Cappucino was ok. A bit annoyed a Northern irish card is not valid to collect points in Edinburgh though!

First class service all around minus the one item that I was looking for vegan chicken 🐓 panini not on the menu.👌

Table was dirty so had to move to another one which was extremely wonky and rocked about. Coffee was extremely disgusting but staff were nice. Overall experience was disappointing and I would not recommend.

Forgot part of my gift card and I was willing to pay with card instead but they gave for free, so kind made my day!

Apart from the local winged rat.. The staff never bothered to clean the tables it had been visiting

On more than one occasion I've had to take drinks back for being like warm. Place could do with a good deep clean. Food/drain flies hovering around in the winter is never a good sign.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Had a lovely Latte as usual, friend enjoyed their tea.

I waited a lot because they forgot my order.

Missed our train so we dropped in for a coffee. My dad's card payment wouldn't go through and then the till totally crashed. Despite the growing queue the girl at the till didn't show the slightest sign of flapping, instead she continued to give us her amazing smile. Great customer service from someone so young, well done her!😁

Nice little area, at the beginning of Princes Street. Coffee excellent, xtra hot as requested. Staff very pleasent, but slow especially at the lunch time rush, they need more staff, for a smooth running Costa.

It's Costa can often be quite busy though. Staff are friendly.

I guess this is their version of Starbucks. Starbucks is better. But even better to find a local cafe.

I was visiting Edinburgh with my son and we called in got a large cup of coffee and nice cup of tea.

El Costa estaba bien situado en un pequeño centro comercial y puedes usar el tren. Respecto al servicio está bien. Lo que pedí fue un moka y estaba buenísimo.

This is an extremely friendly little shop offering fresh sandwiches packaged Bakewell tarts tea cakes a variety of other baked goods of high-quality and delicious coffee. It is extremely quiet and convenient and is located inside Waverley station. The seating area is large and spacious and very very comfortable with good lighting. It is a quiet place to sit and enjoy food while waiting for your train.

Friendly staff, we regular go there when we be in town

They dont wrap their drinks. If you get any coffee or anything like that it's all going to get ruined

Nice place to sit and people watch down in the Waverley Centre. The medium sized latte for sitting in was huge, more like a large, the millionaire shortbread, although a bit dear at £2.00 tasted nice.

Their mango and passion fruit cooler is lovely!!

Usual Costa, food and drink excellent but it didn’t help that they forgot my coffee order. Barista eventually noticed me standing there like a lemon but there was no hint of an apology

Probably has the most seating in central Edinburgh cafés. Americano is huge

One of my favourites, you are inside but as you can look down into Waverley Mall it feels airy, although in summer the transparent ceiling/roof can make it ridiculously hot, but it is Scotland so not much of a worry...

Coffee was great. Ambiance was not so great due to the persistent drilling in the area below. Wish I'd taken my coffee away this time. Came out with a thumping headache.

No toilets. I don’t even think that’s legal. Insane. There’s toilets all the way at the bottom of the Princes Mall but they charge 30p and there was a queue. Service was slow and ungracious, too. Only came here because the Dome and the Printing Press and the George Hotel were all shut. Welcome to Edinburgh!

It's a Costa....same as all the other Costas you've ever been in. If, like me, you like Costa come here

WORST COSTA EVER!!! The cappuccino there was mixed with too much water thus I can’t even tell it’s a cappuccino. A staff gave me a spilled one without saying anything but only an indifferent glance. I can’t even tell whether they’re racists since they’re quite friendly to white people.

Not very busy and had to wait. I am never a big fan of Costa but was meeting up with family. Drab and no atmosphere.

Place is a sham. Floors and walls bogin. Girl started at 11, rinsed her hands under the tap then wiped it dry on her arse before serving customers. Tables sticky and dirty. Place needs a proper clean. One of the dirtiest costas i have ever been in. Not just 1 days dirt, place looks like it hadn't been cleaned this month at all!

Always come here before catching a train. It's very hot in summer due to the glass roof and nice and cosy in winter

Great Costa shop, staff were very friendly. I bought a reusable cup in the morning, by the afternoon the bottom had come off it after one use. I returned it and was able to swap it out with ease. Cracking service 🤟🏻

So disappointing. Below average coffee. Very expensive snack food. No toilets.

Coffee as always was good. As a disabled person who walks using a Rollator access was almost impossible. It was with the help of 2 kind men, one on way and one on the way out I was able to enjoy my visit.

Friendly staff and big coffee shop with plenty of tables and chairs. Negatives are; No toilets (need to go down to ground floor in Waverley Mall) and in the summer time, it is sometimes to hot to sit in half the shop as the ceiling is glass. WIFI can be temperamental and sometimes doesn't work if you are sitting in a certain area.

Staff not very friendly. Sanitiser dispenser empty. Coffee was awful which is lovely in other costs.

Well on Costa I had a large hot chocolate spray cream on top looks good but just tastes of water hardly any chocolate in it plus most tables where not cleared so had to move s tray to sit down want that busy for the staff to be busy oh well

We called at Waverley mall costa,it was busy but there was no tables cleared we waited a while and then moved tray ourselves.Still love the coffee and would visit again but wasn't happy having to clear own table and it not been wiped but never mind
