Costa Coffee in Plymouth

Good variety of drinks, on the expensive side some would say, but l like the favoured drinks.

I was in a rush and and a young man by the name George, who was so kind served my order efficiently, quickly and had good manners. It brightened up my day and I will be attending again.

Never answer your phones and also just hang up on people

Always quite busy with a queue of customers when we have visited.

Lovely staff, lovely coffee. Enjoy my time spend here on the regular.

So quiet when we visited and it was really nice to just sit and zone out. The staff were very nice and attentive. The shop was clean and orderly. Really liked the sink and tap available to rinse reusable cups and fill up water bottles. Good idea!

Love the coffee here. Would go to a Costa Coffee by choice when I didn't have any knowledge of other places.

Came in to get a take away drink only, although the various food choices looked good apart from the odd little fly on the pastrys. The building was lovely and clean, the girls behind the counter was friendly and professional. It was busy at the time I went in I think I was 5th in the que with more people behind me and 4 waiting for take away drinks with only two staff on they was rushed of their feet multi-tasking very well with good team work.

Getting a drink before appointment. We come to Derriford fairly often for appointments for young baby, so stop in Costa to feed beforehand. Often get a 'hot' drink which more often than not seems to be more warm than hot. Partner also ordered a new drink that, on the poster, had cream and a dressing. None of which was on his drink. We often visit Liskeard Costa, who are always spot on we find! Shame that the Derriford doesn't live up to the same standards, especially due to location, it's nice to have a hot drink before going into an appointment or visiting.

Wish they put a bin outside. Always scruffy. Litter everywhere awful to see. Never enough staff which is normal for a Costa.

Used this costa twice while visiting the hospital. Can get busy with takeouts around lunchtime so have to queue, but the seating area is quite quiet which is nice, it also has outside seating if the weather is reasonable. Staff friendly and even when busy the drinks came out quite quickly. Only downside is that parking is chargeable.

I brought from a Take-Away Costa Coffee Bar at Tesco's in Belmont Terrace on the way to my Doctor's. The first time I had used a Costa Coffee Machine and it was a nice cup of coffee.

Not much good to say about the coffee. Hot chocolate wasn't hot even after asking for it to be extra hot, drank very quickly. My black coffee wasn't hot either which was very strange because it's just coffee and hot water. Coffee taste not up to costa standards. Very bland. Also the outlet is next to a huge hospital but they don't take the "Blue Light discount card" which all other costas seem to do. Bit tight really.

Quiet and relaxed on Sunday at Derriford

Hot, noisy and thoroughly unpleasant. Because of the coffee grinders, blenders and clearly shockingly awful internal design, it’s almost impossible to hear the person taking the order. I’m not hard of hearing but I couldn’t hear anything the Costa person was saying. It’s expensive, poor quality, poor service and they generally don’t give a damn as they have a captive market. On the whole it really was a totally disappointing and really quite revolting experience.

Went in around about 13:20 in the afternoon, no queues and very quiet. The work area in front of the coffee machine was a disaster zone with coffee granules and at least 5 empty cups scattered around on the drip tray. The area behind the counter was untidy, bordering on messy. 3 members of staff behind the counter. Not the best impression, they Latte I orders was delivered within 40 seconds, which to me isn’t a sign or taste of a good coffee. And guess what, it wasn’t. Very bland and tasteless. Very disappointed, because in the pass they had produced fairly good coffee .

A very clean,tidy and spacious cafe the staff were polite friendly cheerful coffee and tea cake both hot spot on.

Staff were indifferent and very little attempt to communists with anyone - rather robotic I am sad to say. Coffee was good though if expensive.

I eventually through the drive through, returned my drink twice because the member of staff did not listen to my order. I paid for a drink that I threw away. Fuming!!!!

Same as other costas. Quant lil corner, very nice looking, but very noisy from the machines. The drinks are nice, but I never buy thr cakes anymore. Always thought it was me going on a bad day when thr cakes have been left out a while, but they are always cold and a bit stale, can't eat it after a bite.

Waiting for the toilets, old chap came out and told me not to go in as the toilet was in a disgusting state. Went in the other toilet to find faeces on the toilet seat and urine over the floor. Really not good enough for a cafe on a hospital site. Pointed out the problem to a young female member of staff who seemed to think it was funny. Laughed about the situation, no apology and seemed in no rush to do anything about it. Very poor experience all round.

Just been to get a coffee for my wife and I. Was served by a lady called Tracey. So polite and well mannered and couldn’t do enough for us even though they were very busy. Think they need more staff like her to get the job done faster.

I arrived then waited five minutes whilst staff were listening to poor political misinformation regarding lockdown given by some sarcastic, aggressive, local pikey who thought he owned the show, most off putting to start. Prior to that I had to bare the brunt of hearing the barista was suffering from a terrible hangover and was worried about nothing else but childcare. Her mind wasn’t on the job. She looked wrecked too. Some parent. Very West Country, lazy, sloppy attitude. I left without even a question raised. It’s like they were glad they didn’t have to serve me. Gawping whilst I went out of the door I had to bite my lip. Dreadful.

I appreciate this is one of the franchise Costa coffee shops however.....their coffee is considerably more expensive and no bacon rolls for £2? If Costa want these franchise stores then give their owners the ability to compete, it's ridiculous this is not available and probably too cheap for them to sell and still make a profit! COSTA sort it out, you've obviously got a captive market at this hospital, there are NHS using this facility, don't overcharge them.

Popped in last week before an appointment and was quite shocked to see the state of the place. The 2 staff members were really busy trying to cope with the number of customers waiting to be served and it was quite full. However, the annoying part for me was the state of the place. Tables were stacked with used cup and just not being cleared. I sat there for 25minutes and the tables were not cleared. This is not down to the poor staff members, but down to costa higher management not supply enough staff to run the place efficiently. Taking the money, but not supplying a good service. Sort it out. Derrifold Costa is a busy location, so staff it right.

I’m not a fan of costa but this store is the best I’ve been in. It’s always clean and the staff are always friendly. The coffee is good and consistent. Food sells out quickly and is not replaced which is the only downside. A great location with outside seats. Best costa in Plymouth

A great clean and modern coffee shop. Normal Costa offerings. Staff were friendly. There is outside seating which was also clean and tidy. Parking is like all hospital a rip off but it has to be done.

We called in for a coffee after a hospital appointment and were greeted by a smiling assistant who served us with good hot coffees everywhere was clean and it was worth a visit we will certainly be calling in again after our next appointment

We needed to waste a bit of time before an appointment at Derriford Hospital and popped in here. There wasn't any parking outside as the bays outside said they were for "loading only" although from the looks of the cars parked there and the fact they were there the whole time we were inside having coffee, that wasn't the case! The coffee was the normal Costa and was quite good and the staff were very pleasant. It was reasonably clean, although several tables could have done with a wipe over and the floor brushed. It wasn't busy and there were several members of staff, so those things should have been done. The toilets were ok, but why do some cafes only provide toilets that have to be shared between men and women!

Adds little to the facilities for those using the hospital complex. If you have to eat while you are at Derriford whether as patient, staff or visitor, then this is not convenient, easy going or attractive, any more than the branches in the city centre or at service stations.

This relatively new outlet of Costa Coffee is situated adjacent to the Multi-Story Car Park in the Derriford Hospital Grounds. Good addition to satisfy Hospital Staff, Visitors & Patients who are well enough to use it. Seating inside & Outside with Air-Con to help in the Hot Weather. As for the Coffee - it’s a Costa so the same Standard as all the other Costa Outlets, with the same Food Menu for those requiring sustenance.
