CAME INTO YOUR BRANCH TODAY WITH MY COUSIN, ABSOLUTELY IMMACULATE BRANCH, SPOTLESS COFFEE CUPS AND TEASPOONS, LOVELY POLITE STAFF, WELL DONE HORNCHURCH 94 HIGH STREET!! THIS EXPERIENCE WAS IN HUGE CONTRAST TO THE UPMNSTER BRANCH. ALL THE FEMALE STAFF ARE LOVELY -AND EXTREMELY HARD WORKING, BUT - AS THE LARGER BRANCH IN UPMINSTER HAS NOW CLOSED, THEY HAVE TO CATER FOR A HUGE AMOUNT OF FOOTFALL, AND THIS IMPACTS ON THE CLEANLINESS IN BRANCH - DIRTY CUPS, TEASPOONS, TABLES UNCLEARED AND UNWIPED, HUGE BUILD UP OF DIRTY CROCKERY, FLOORS WHICH ARE WORN AND TAPED UP TO AVOID TRIP HAZARDS. RECENTLY, THE CONSERVATORY ROOF LEAKED, NECESSITATING THE USE OF A BUCKET TO COLLECT WATER, WHICH MISSED, DANGEROUS!!- BASICALLY, MORE STAFFING, IS A START, BUT A COMPLETE REFURB IS NEEDED TOO.

I was in a coffee shop passing by, I was waiting for a friend and decided to get coffee, a friendly fair-haired Ukrainian girl met me, served me quickly, asked how I was doing and wished me a good day, the coffee was great, thank you.

This place is so short staffed and the staff are obviously fed up with this as they were so rude and abrupt. I asked twice to have our outside table cleared and cleaned and was told they were short staffed so We’d have to wait. A member of staff eventually came out with a bundle of blue paper towel and remarked that she needed a wet cloth and went back inside and sprayed the paper and then proceeded to wipe our table with it Surprisingly it did not remove the coffee rings from our table or indeed any unseen COVID virus. I’m disgusted by this and will not be going back. There’s two Costa coffees in Hornchurch high street. Maybe don’t be so greedy and concentrate your efforts and staff on one!

Went in for a quick after work coffee and was met with the friendliest server (Sadie) who was more than happy to help and was polite and welcoming if only all the staff were as good as Sadie

Regular coffee haunt cos of lovely staff but just seen evidence the owner thinks it’s acceptabke to deduct wages after a theft from TIL because he doesn’t want to claim on his insurance - disgusting

Used this store many times but no more. Absolutely disgusted by the way an older foreign lady speaks to her staff. Just so condescending and rude. An absolute bully and nasty piece of work.

Me and my boyfriend came here for a quick drink the other day, a lovely polite young lady anything from around 16 - 20 served us, we got 2 of what we ordered near enough straight away. There was another person in front of us who's order was a bit late/mixed up, there was then another woman, older and spoke foreign who then absolutely went crazy on her in front of all the customers, baring in mind we were still waiting for a coffee and another person waiting to be served whilst she was having a go at this young girl. I then spoke to her and said we are still waiting and there is another person waiting to be served and your having a go at her for not doing her job properly? You shouldn't be shouting at a young girl in front of customers, the young was sobbing in front of everyone. We then went on to proceed that this is not how you treat your staff and she was acting like a bully! Baring in mind there is a back room for staff anyway, so she could've spoken to her later in private away from customers and in more of a reasonable manor! I preferred the young girl to the older lady any day! Please look at your staffing, the young girl is lovely and the older woman, give her the elbow!!!!!

Stood in line for approx. 20 minutes; while waiting looked at the cakes on offer as we felt a bit peckish. To my astonishment the cakes were covered in flies. Reported this to the server who paid little attention to my complaint and the produce was still on display once we had left after just having coffee only. It was difficult to find a CLEAN seat as the majority were stained and it was not from anything that was sold in the shop. ( I leave it to one's imagination as to what the stains are ) The tables were cluttered and not cleared. All in all I have been to one man small cafes in the area which were spotless. It is obvious that the staff are poorly trained in the hospitality business at Costa.

Went here for coffee and lunch with a friend. Not too long to wait in line and the service seemed efficient and relatively quick. The coffee was up to standard (skinny flat white) and the toasties were good too. Not too crowded and a pleasant atmosphere.

We often come into a Costa and love the ginger latte with a piece of cake. Today we popped in looked at the cakes and noticed there was little black flies all flying around and landing on the cakes . We told the assistants who were 2 young girls and a young lad . They apologised and just carried on and left the cakes for other people to buy . The lady behind me said they should all be thrown away . All I can say is it was a good job I was not a health and safety officer .

Attitude of staff unwelcoming, tables uncleared, request to have food warmed was met with a tactical delay, my cortado was too milky and others in my company felt it was not up to normal standards. One bright point was that the pastries were delicious ... however I will not use this branch again unfortunately

I normally like a Costa but this one was below standards. When I arrived it was very busy with dirty cups on many of the tables. The 3 female staff were more interested in discussing their social lives than actually paying attention to the customer. My complicated order of a regular orange hot chocolate had to be repeated 3 times. I ordered a toastie which was cooked perfectly one side, hot chocolate was luke warm, the orange garnish was so dehydrated I wanted to offer it water. The toilet that's right there is just one toilet was horrible I understand due to the size of the shop they could only have one but the floor was wet and the toilet bowl was leaking all over the floor. Not very pleasant. I will definitely not be rushing back.

Have been to a lot of different Costa Coffees and this one was up to standard. Nice and clean and a good choice of cakes and sandwiches. The skinny flat white was very good! It's been redecorated since I last came and looks very pristine.

Exceptional decaf coffee - just love the raspberry & almond bake or the almond 🥐. Efficient barristers. Lovely relaxing atmosphere for a chat and a treat.

Love costa.but this was the worse asked for black americano.and a white one.even with milk it was so bitter.and normanlly the coffee is delicious but not today.we both left our coffees.

The coffee was fine but the toilets were disgusting. Firstly the men's toilet was out of service so men where sharing two cubicles with women on top of which one of the toilets should have been out of service as the toilet seat was hanging off and also very dirty. Would think twice as to whether I would have a coffee here again !

Great coffee and great value, when you consider a small is quite big anyway. A large is like fish bowl and difficult to finish, so recommend either small or medium.

We had hardly got through the door when I heard: "We close at 6.30 darlin'." It was 5 to 6 and this didn't make us feel welcome at all. We wanted a hot drink, it was raining and we were cold so we sat down. It always pays to check the seats as they do not get brushed off often enough or thoroughly enough. I have been drinking Costa flat white for years and the coffee was disappointingly insipid. The tea was good and hot. Walking out the back of the cafe we had to go over a very wet mopped floor which seemed a bit over the top. We got a cheery goodbye. At least on the way out I didn't get called "darlin' " which was an improvement.

Great coffee and pastries for those "on-the-run" or for those wanting a respite. Warm, friendly atmosphere.

I was offered the new blend of coffee but not told that it would cost 20p more per cup! This was rather disappointing and a bit of a rip off. The lady who served me just shrugged her shoulders when I said I thought she should have let me know about the extra cost. The toilets were pretty disgusting and did not look like they had been cleaned for some time. One of the ladies toilets was out of order. Not as good as it used to be.

Took a trip to Rainham Hall and as I love a Costa Coffee drove into Hornchurch just for that. Sat outside noisy but enjoyed my time in the sun.Staff are nice and service was fast and cheerful. Thanks Guys :)

Very slow service coffee taste is not what it used to be ,,,,must have change the coffee beans .please change it back to the good old tasting batch

Very busy coffee shop despite competition for several other nearby coffee outlets. Staff very welcoming. Code required for toilet use which is not so good for vision impaired or short customers though staff are happy to assist.

Treated myself to Chai Tea Latte with Vanilla as my usual place phased it out so I reverted to Costa to get it & as always you can't beat it.

popped in with a hangover and ordered a breakfast tea and asked for a well done/toasted sandwich.

Really nice surroundings at this Costa in the centre of Hornchurch. Baristas are friendly and jolly. Always clean and comfortable. The toilet code is a bit of a nuisance but I can understand why it is necessary.

This Costa is a welcome oasis when out shopping it's well laid out and as always the staff are excellent

This the smaller of the 2 Costas on Hornchurch High Street and is the quieter of the 2 cafes. Great coffee - especially flat white and cortado. Good selection of cakes and OK sandwiches. My favourite at the moment are the toasted tea cakes which are lovely, they did a Xmas tea cake last year which I'm looking forward to and they do Stollen bites which are very good too. Calories are shown for each of the items so you can decide whether to go for it or not. There is a disabled loo and access from the front. Parking at the back of the cafe. The cafe is being refitted and hopefully this will mean the seats will be cleaned as they have become quite grubby. There is a veranda at the back which is great to sit out on a sunny day - if only the smokers weren't allowed there; if you are a non smoker or someone with chest problems you really have no choice but to sit indoors which is not right. There are also tables outside in the front on the pavement, the smokers could maybe sit there - just a thought.
