I went to to Bath Christmas market on Saturday with two friends and we stopped at Costa for a bite to eat and coffees. One friend went to the toilet whilst I was ordering and the other secured a table downstairs. When I placed my order I was asked if I had a table, to which I replied ‘yes’. When I asked for help to take the food and drinks downstairs I was told I couldn’t take crockery downstairs for ‘health & safety’ reasons. I explained that when I ordered the food and drinks I was not told that crockery could not be taken downstairs. The girl then said she would speak to the manager and I was left standing at the sugar/waste bin area. No one came so I called over a man who was making coffees. He said I couldn’t take my purchases downstairs and eventually said he would help me but they would not be liable in the event if an accident!! By this time our toasted sandwiches had gone cold. When I pointed this out, he just apologised. There was only ONE toilet working which was down a long narrow flight of stairs. As we were leaving we noticed a lady with a walker who had somehow managed to negotiate the stairs as the disabled toilet was also out of action and the shop was rammed. It is just not good enough. When I spoke to the member of staff about it she was very sharp in her response saying she had reported the toilets out of action and they should be sorted on Monday!! That was by far the worst experience I have had at a Costa Coffee and cannot believe staff don’t make customers aware of the health & safety policy regarding the downstairs seating area and can legally provide food and drink to such a huge customer base and only provide the facility of one toilet and no disabled toilets- DISGUSTED!!

This is one of several branches of Costa around the city. They are definately my favourite of the big coffee chains, not for the food, as there is very ltitle gluten free, but for the coffee, free wifi and big cosy chairs. This one has all three in abundance, and so gets my vote.

Costs Coffee has always given me a great coffee. I often get "parked" to allow time for my partner's shopping. Love it. Greta friendly staff.

If it wasn't for the hygeine point I'll come on to in a moment, I wouldn't fault this at all. The atmosphere was really quite nice and relaxed and the staff were, on the most part, very friendly and helpful. The one thing that stood out from my visit, though, and not in a good way, was the flies that were buzzing all around the cakes, muffins and biscuits. I mentioned it in conversation when we were choosing what to have, but the man serving us did not even seem to notice. As a restaurant which was supposed to have a 5-star hygeine rating, this was very dissapointing. The score from the Food Standards Agency should definitely be reduced. Apart from this, the food and drinks were very nice and it is definitely somewhere I would recommend and visit again.

That is the thing about Costa Coffee, it's not the very best but it's easily drinkable. Even the motorway vending hits the spot.

If you are at the popular Union Street, this is good for a takeaway cappuccino - didn't eat the food, so can't comment on that.

What a disappointment Costa and an embarrassment to Bath! The barrister was rude and didn't bother at all. We had to wait for so long for my daughter's cheese tostie as no one put it in the griller. I asked him to send it to us but he refused! Never again.

I guess most of us enter a costa without thinking about the staff you just go in order pay and drink, this Costa was different, for one the staff were very friendly the drinks were great but the help was superb

Have to say that some members of staff didn't know what they were doing, didn't know the offers and had no idea about customer service and being pleasant.
