Costa Coffee in Edinburgh, City of

It is consistently messy, with majority of tables uncleared for extended periods. The standard of coffee produced is variable depending on the staff member, with the manager being the worst. He seems too concerned gossiping and giggling with his mates to actually take notice of the disastrous scenes evolving around him. Professional standards have slipped to the point that it barely resembles a Costa store any more and is more a run down version.

I was very disappointed went into costa in Armagh think it’s unit 9 My friend n I ordered 2 lattes I seen sugar free syrup sittin out n pressed down to get a drop young girl with a lot of tattoos on her arm shouted out excuse excuse me at the top of her voice u av to pay for that!! mind u there was a lot of syrups sittin there pointing in the direction of the customers and I was surprised n embarrassed when she roared at me she had to get 60p extra for the shot of syrup was very surprised the syrups should not av been sittin there as I think this is false advertising service was very poor the attitude of the girl stinks I will never set foot in here again neither will my friend disgusting the way I was roared at A girl not happy in her job n I got the blunt of it

Starting to become convinced this place is terrible on purpose, visit regularly for the tasty coffee hence some stars for that, but as far as any organisation and general attention to supplies of things like types of sugar and cleanliness it just constantly seems like nobody cares, the front end always understaffed and slow whilst others hiding in the back room, especially the manager/supervisor who I've very seldom seen doing a stroke of actual work, perhaps the ordering of more sugar and deep discussions of love island are keeping them busy.. who knows.. real shame as I love their coffee but far to many little annoyances and unacceptable oversights building to make being a customer nearly as stressful as actually working there I should imagine.

Most of the staff are unbelievably slow. They don’t speed up even when there is a long queue

There wasn't a clean table available, all had stacked dirty dishes & food remaining on them, floors filthy, had to clean & move dirty dishes to be able to clean table ourselves. Disinterested staff serving, there seem to be no management on site. It is bringing down the reputation of Costa. Extremely disappointing!!

Tables are stinking, not one clean table in the place! Cups not cleaned up, Costa would need to take a serious look at their management in this place, it's shockingly bad.. rank...

Costa is Armagh disappoints again. We came here with my husband for relaxing cup of coffee. Every empty table ( It was many) full of empty, dirty dishes. We had to clean the table ourselves. Only two staff on in such a busy place. Not even brown sugar available - in coffee shop????? Place going down the hill badly.

Got some of the summer drinks to try with a friend. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. The lemon muffins are always lovely.

The coffee is very tasty, as are the pastries. The big minus is the dirt in the establishment, dirty tables, furniture and dishes not put away. Need to send an auditor

A dirty kip, never cleaned properly, living off the brand cause if it were a private buisness it would not be still here. Seats ripped and sticky tables , filthy floors Coffee good.

Pretty standard.often quiet in the evenings

If you ever want to have a nice room temperature tap water with half a drop of strawberry syrup iced(?) drink for £3.90, then this is your place. Located in the heart of the Spires car park, this little gem is in the forefront when it comes to alternative water drinks. Thats why I’m giving it a solid 2.

I go here a lot due to location and convenience.... I'm not going to comment on the price of the food & snacks because that's an overall Costa issue. However in the Armagh store, staff can be very loud and not very professional... always 3-4 of them hanging around the till area having the craic whilst there are mulitples tables both inside and outside that could do with being cleared for people to sit down rather than having the customers move trays of dirty dishes themselves to other tables. This is a very regular occurrence and I put this down to poor management of the store itself. I would also query how good some of the baristas are too as coffee quality & their temperatures can vary quite a bit. Costa HQ could do with making some unannounced visits soon

I loved it because it was quiet, so had a bit of time to talk to my wife and kid. (But why was it quiet), because it cost me 15 quid for coffees and a bun. I could have done it at the house and had change if a fiver and watched the voice . I'll be back.

Poor coffee taste especially when the girl behind the counter is letting half the coffee run in to the drip tray instead of the cup hence why it was very weak in taste, also asked for a green tea and got a mint tea.

I love this place. There toasties are mouth watering delicious. And there coffees are great.

I like Starbuck coffee, but really like and prefer Costa when in the UK. Its rich and bold coffee! And most of all the Costa Coffee shops are so clean and mkst defenitely friendly!

Been to one, been to them all. Not much difference between them. Nice atmosphere but I always think they are overpriced, food and drinks, most places of a similar nature are as well. These coffee shops seem to pop up like mushrooms overnight they must be so profitable to operate. Decent coffe though.

The staff are great, hot drinks always hot. The only let down is the fact that the toilets/restrooms are always dirty, smelly and messy.

Used to like it bit no one knows how to make a FLAT WHITE it's tasteless can't get the flavour off coffee in it.!!!! Very disappointed

Si estás acostumbrado a un café fuerte, entonces estás en apuros para obtener uno bueno en el Reino Unido. Pero, Costa está bien. Ir por un capuchino o café con leche o un blanco plano. También es un buen lugar para sentarse y descansar después de caminar por la ciudad todo el día.

Took ages to get a hot chocolate as the staff were rushed of their feet, also thought at £3.50 for a hot chocolate was a little excessive. Much better options in Edinburgh.

Ordene café en esta sucursal (ahora en 95 George Street) y como en la concurrida anterior hace unos días pidió una copa de cristal (Costa parece tratar de presionar a los clientes para que usen vasos de papel) en una visita previa se les proporcionó una taza de vidrio. En esta visita, la persona que sirve rechazó una copa de vidrio e insistió en una regla de taza de papel. El gerente intervino y explicó que esta toma estaba usando vasos de papel ya que las tazas de vidrio tenían que lavarse y ¡la instalación de lavado estaba bajando unas escaleras! Para información a la gerencia, tal vez algunas personas simplemente no pueden sostener un vaso de papel lleno de bebida caliente y quizás antes de establecer reglas la administración debe considerar a los clientes mayores o discapacitados. ¡Chocante! Además, para una empresa que promueve cuestiones medioambientales, el uso de vasos de papel es muy poco respetuoso con el medio ambiente, ya que es mejor evitar el uso en lugar de reciclar. Pobre experiencia pero buenas noticias es que hay muchas otras cafeterías en el área con mejores relaciones con los clientes. Izquierda sin comprar

This was all you would expect from a costa. It was clean and comfortable. The drinks and the food were as you would expect and the wait time again was usual for Costa. It is in a good central location but does get very busy

Great costa on George Street. Usually a lot quieter than those closer to Princess Street. Good coffee and pleasant staff. No tables outside on this visit but on previous occasions plenty of seating to relax and watch the world go by.

Cosy coffee couch always my fave spot

Lovely old building in centre of Edinburgh on delightful George Street. The is an unsually pleasant Costa coffee - the conversion of one of the stately Edinburgh buildings is modern and well done. This branch of the chain has a toilet in the basement and is a good quick spot when you need to stop on a perambulation about town. Always helpful when you need a soy-based coffee.

Handy place for a cuppa, very popular and a nice selection of cakes, and bites on offer.
