Costa Coffee in Chelmsford

After shopping in Woodham Ferrers a great place for a break is Costa Coffee, the staff there are very friendly & they can provide you with a good cup of coffee & a nice cake for a very reasonable price.

Visited this Saturday and was served by Alec who was making my daughters drink, Alec thought it was ok to stick his tongue out to his female colleague flicking it in and out whilst warming milk, his SPIT and Saliva sprayed over his and his colleagues equipment and the milk jugs, I told Alec to get the manager and they had a quick chat before the Manager came out and they were both laughing.. I asked the manager that "does he think its acceptable that when a customer complains that he comes out laughing with the colleague that I wanted to complain about!" I ripped into them both as this is unhygienic and disgusting.CORONAVIRIS is getting worse and then you have these idiots making your drinks.I will not be revisiting this store as the training comes from the top so all I can presume is that this store is OK with this behaviour and it has become the culture here.#CORONAVIRUS# COVID - 19COSTA SORT IT OUT

I went to this costa on Saturday morning. My husband and I fancied their hot choc with cream and bits. Lots of their stuff has cream. Ordered it and the young girl said they had no cream. Really. I said I won’t have that then, wouldn’t be the same with out cream. Well I can’t magic it from thin air can I she said. Great customer service, not.....

This coffee house is right by the band stand, it is nicely laid out, the staff there are very friendly, they can provide you with a great cup of coffee plus some nice cakes & all can be purchased for a reasonable price.

98% of the time, this is a great coffee shop. Nice servers, good coffee and nice surroundings. Unfortunately children do tend to run around which makes relaxing somewhat difficult. I feel the staff should be on this a little more. Also, they tend to get busy in there and when this happens, mistakes do too. As a disabled customer, I asked for my drink to be brought over but this was overlooked. I managed to go over and pick it up but received a half cup of coffee with far too much froth. I had to ask for this to be topped up - which I shouldn't have to with the cost of coffees these days

The atmosphere was very lively and the service we received was warm and friendly. The hot chocolate was excellent. The table surface was clean and the floor tidy. The toilets were almost spotless.

We often pop in to Costa for refreshments after finishing our shopping because they have friendly staff, a nicely laid out café & can provide you with a good cup of coffee & nice food.

Always get great service when I visit here. The staff are super friendly and I've never been disappointed with the service. Better that then shop in Rayleigh!

When shopping in South Woodham Ferrers I usually have a coffee before I go. Standard Costa's, Friendly staff, coffee as expected. Usually busy.

After shopping in South Woodham Ferrers we usually pop in to Costa for a nice cup of coffee & a cake & just sit & relax awhile before we make our way home, nice way to pass the time.

a bit dear, table we had to sit at was not cleared did ourselves.coffee was ok although the area to which they make it was a bit messy.

the tables were dirty, my coffee was served in a dirty cup and cold, the memwber of staff that served us was rude and unhelpful!

Went on a Saturday lunch time with my husband, there was a long queue despite 3 people working behind counter,tables were dirty, and full of used crockery, had to clear ourselves, one positive thing, was that it was a hot day, and with at least 3 air conditioning units, was nice and cool, we were going to have toasted sandwiches, we chose one each, however with my one I could have a coffee and a packet of crisps, for 4.95, my husbands sandwich wasn't included in the offer, there was no sign, but later I did see a meal deal sign on a completely different fridge, WHY!!!!, I had a black coffee, which you would expect to be piping hot, but it was hardly lukewarm, our toasted sandwich which had grill marks, on top, but the bottom was white, half a toasted sandwich, that's not right, however we didn't complain, it wasn't cheap,ended up spending £12 on a light snack, we didn't enjoy

Standard Costa with 2 things worth mentioning. Discount given to Asda staff. And Very plesant to sit outside enjoying the sun.

When we visit South Woodham Ferrers to do our shopping we usually go to this coffee shop afterwards. The staff there are very polite & can provide you with a good cup of coffee & a cake or something else which may take your fancy & you can enjoy these either inside or outside if the weather permits. Good place to relax a while with family or friends.

Nice place friendly staff and good coffee . have never tried food but they do look really nice and yummy .

Staff too slow in serving customers and tables not cleaned quickly enough.

I went in and they was just me and a women waiting they weren’t busy but it managed to take 25mins to get asked what I would like, once I ordered the lady was very rude and walked away no one started making my drink for another 25mins I nearly walked out when the lady appeared there was no sorry. I ordered a billionaire latte and when I got it it was just warm milk in a take away cup when I had asked to sit in. I wasn’t bothered about it being in the cup so I just explained nicely that I ordered a latte and not it milk, the lady refused and said there was coffee in it and when I poured into the glass it was just milk no coffee or flavourings then the lady went on about how I did order a hot milk even though I had the receipt that said a billionaires latte. I ended up walking out with nothing after paying for a billionaires latte.

After shopping in South woodham Ferrers, why not make your way to Costa Coffee for a nice break. The staff are great, their coffee is very good especially their flat white & they have some nice cakes & other goodies, all of which can be purchased for a very reasonable price.

I'm not sure why the feel the need to hike the prices up to beyond sensible in this day and age of buyers market. There are too many coffee shops to chose from to be taken for ride by Costa..... the cost for a coffee against the 'faddy themed' drinks is outrageous and the prices of a 'bit of' cake is pathetic. I've been to smaller outlets and had better coffee and cake at a fraction of the cost!? How does that work?? I can honestly say that I'm unlikely to rush to any Costa's after the way the prices and slices are going. Someone wants to review their thinking on marketing and pricing!!

I take my granddaughter into costa every Friday and she loves it. The staff are friendly and helpful

Went to Costa Coffee last weekend 16/17th Sept - they were busy - but I found it difficult to make eye contact with the staff and get a smile - they seemed so unhappy - just asked the usual questions - chocolate on your coffee - we sat outside and the tables were all full with past customers - what we had was very nice - the staff just need a little cheering up - maybe a pay rise might help !!!!!

I love good coffee and Costa never fails. This particular Costa has a nice view across the river. Plenty of seating area outside for the nice days, when they do come. Quick and friendly service and tables are cleared almost immediately.

Coffee and sandwich as expected as this is the same as any other Costa. The place is far too noisy with screeching kids and parents that can't control themselves let alone the children.....they are more intent on discussing their next benefit payment instead of controlling their kids. Point to note...there is vat on coffee as classed as a luxury and not essential. Therefore noise people on benefit should be barred and the place would be a whole lot more welcoming!

Busy but still plenty of seating. Staff always pleasant. Always ask for extra hot coffee and here they always do just that. Love the layout of the yummy cakes etc makes it hard to decide what to have each visit. Crumpets were a pound today if you had a hot drink before 11am what a bargain.

We frequent South Woodham Ferrers quite often for shopping etc. & once this is done we like to pop into Costa for a break. The staff there are very, the tables are nicely set out & if you wish you can drink your coffee outside, they can provide with some nice coffees such as a flat white & some delicious snacks & cakes & all for a very reasonable price.

Just like all the other Costas, it does what you expect. Staff were friendly but got my order wrong, large not refgular, no big deal. Coffee was good.

My husband and I went here for breakfast. It was the first time we had ever been in Costa. We each had a large speciality coffee. They were very large and very nice. I had a bap with bacon in it and my husband had a sausage bap. We really enjoyed our breakfast, but at a cost of £11.80, it was much more expensive then what we usually pay. The seating place was comfortable, but quite noisy, what with the noise of the coffee machine and the customers, we could hardly hear each other to have a proper conversation. I was surprised to find only 2 toilets; one for disabled customers/baby changing, and one unisex. I had to wait a while for the toilet to be free. Altogether it was quite a nice breakfast, but I doubt if we will go to another Costa. However, I am glad that we tried it out, and if we were slightly richer we would go back!

Called in after a shopping trip. Very friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Nice and clean. (Didn't use the facilities). Costa has yet to fail.

Good quality drink and food, well presented. Since the refit the place seems much bigger and more relaxed. The staff here are super friendly, even when they are extremely busy, which is often especially when school finishes for the day. Tables were spotless.

More often than not, when we have finished our shopping in South Woodham Ferrers we make our way to the main square

Great coffee. Plenty of seating inside and out. Busy...but still a relaxing break before continuing with a shopping trip. Loads of parking.

Lovely but busy costa. Great quality drinks as always. Friendly staff. Nice comfortable atmosphere. Toilets upstairs a bit of a tight squeeze but the one downstairs has plenty of room.

this place I use as a last resort or because someone i am with insist on going there. The service is unnecessarily slow. There can be one person in front of you and it takes an age.......Awful place in my opinion.

Visited Costa on a beautiful sept morning. Sat outside to drink coffee and read my paper. I moved three times because of people smoking in a confined area. The tables and chairs are squashed in which means you cannot avoid the smokers. Surely it would make sense to have the smoking on one side so people who do not smoke and do not want to sit with disgusting smoke wafting in faces could sit in peace ! Come on Costa ! I spend a lot of money on coffee. Let's have a bit of respect and thought about the non smokers ! At present its a very horrible experience unless non smokers sit inside

Always great coffee from knowledgeable Barista's. Prompt service and since the refurbishment two coffee machines which keeps the queue's down and the customers happy.

stopped for a well earned rest and a natter really enjoyed my coffee didn't have a treat as thought a little bit pricey

went here today with two small children and daughter. the place itself was not very well organised as you had to squash past someone who was waiting for their coffee to be made to pay,. but that is by and by. my grandson wanted to go to the toilet which was upstairs and when got there to the the ladies, the floor was covered in toilet paper and I couldn't shut the door as it was soooooo crampt ! unless I had cut off his legs it was impossible. I pity a poor pregnant woman she would be on display whilst on the throne!!!!! terrible. I also noted that here was a woman on an invalid carriage with a dog on her lap inside, who was not asked to leave or go outside. Health and hygiene!!!!!

Great little costa. Does get busy but staff are very efficient and work as quickly as they can to complete your order. Plenty of outdoor seating for when the weather is nice and you fancy sitting out with your coffee. Has a machine for coffee in the entrance for those whose want take out in a hurry. Staff are always pleasant and polite.

Have visited here many times since it has been open. Good coffee and service and seating area outside when it's nice. It's now a lot quieter since it has been refurbished so service is a lot quicker now.

Sat by the river in the centre of the city the c offee is as always very good and soft but delicious shortbread biscuits. Worth a visit on a beautiful day.

Normal Costa Coffee, but does provide somewhere to sit and relax and watch the world go by! Right by the side exit to Asda so handy after the shopping - also gives Asda staff discount!

I love Costa for its coffee and the layout of this one is great, my only criticism is that you always have to queue for quite a while before being served!

A very popular place, often difficult to get a seat and sometimes have to queue for some time. Coffee always good and the usual range of Costa eats. Well worth a visit if you are visiting the retail park.

I visit this coffee place at least twice a week often on a Sunday mornings - they are very busy but they are always so professional, happy and I often get a complimentary coffee which is so appreciated. The staff are great, coffee great and it's in a great location !!

No cow's milk cake options, when I asked I was offered the gluten free selection, totally different food sensitivity Queue for the loo, only two, one disabled

I am shocked by the level of personal hygiene of the young man who made the coffee at 10.15am on Tuesday 24th February 2016. He must have a years worth of dirt under his nails... Seriously, sort it out Costa. Basic food and hygiene FAIL!!!! Scratching his nose and then making coffee is also unacceptable. Name is William apparently, but staff are calling him Will.

Always a pleasure and as always in Costa Coffee restaurants / coffee shops, great service and prompt attention. Local staff offer great and polite service.

We visit Costa a good couple of times a week and have been to many different ones, but this one is my favourite, mainly due to the great customer service. Even though they are manically busy all the time, they are always so cheerful and helpful, especially the Manager who likes to have a laugh with his customers. Nothing's too much trouble.

After finishing your shopping in South Woodham Ferrers, where better to go than Costa Coffee for some fine refreshments. The staff there are very friendly, the coffee & other beverages are very good & they also have some very tasty cakes & other goodies to tempt you, all of which can be purchased at a very reasonable price. Well worth a visit & spending some time.
