Good coffee with decent latte art, definitely one of the best Costas I've been to!

Great place for a Costa, wonderful location in the village, Flora the new Manager is a very friendly character and makes you feel very welcome...

Love Costa in general but the one at birkdale has really lovely staff which makes the visit even better.

Excellent selection of cakes and pastries along with the usual selection of hot coffees and teas. The cafe is close to Birkdale Station and very convenient for other local shops too. The staff are friendly and helpful and the tables and floor are kept clean. Plenty of seating and it’s not squeezed in - so you can have your break in comfort. Quiet background music doesn’t distract. Lovely place for a coffee and chat with friends.

Coffee's good as always but the place is a mess. It's untidy, the floor is always dirty and there's always empty cups/saucers/food wrappers/detritus on the tables when there are young staff free to clean it up. They seem to like chatting more though.

A great place to have the perfect coffee or a nice pot of tea and a tasty toastie, tasty sandwiches, yummy cakes and much more.

Absolutely love the festive toasted sandwiches. Friendly staff who handle a very busy store at lunch dealing with what I saw as very demanding other customers. Well done.

On my last visit had to have coffee in takeaway cup As they had no clean cups trays of dirty cups everywhere one serving and i pressume one in kitchen the girl was lovely and apologized need more staff on at busy times i felt like clearing the tables and helping them

Great toast and marmalade / jam. Cakes, Sandwiches and of course latte no matter which Costa you go to!!!

Staff were lovely and working really hard, but there just weren't enough staff in. 1 on till, 1 making drinks and 1 on floor. All tables had old drinks on and wait was 15 mins. Unfair on staff - need more staff on at busy times.

Staff are really friendly here and work quickly. We had coffees and cake, the café part and facilities are all clean and well maintained.

Always great customer service, coffee is great, exactly as I like it and my son will only drink Costa's hot chocolate, he does not like any other chain's hot chocolate.

Just Brilliant, this is a fabulous coffee shop. The staff are fantastic, welcoming, friendly genuine and super efficient. Nothing is too much trouble for this team. The venue is warm, COVID- 19 rules politely reinforced, it’s safe and the team work extremely hard to withhold the Costa brand values. A true credit to the Costa Brand

They still have toilet which was a great, Coffee and Hot Chocolate large was cheaper than I thought it would be, so plus there, went there to Read a book and have a Coffee, but started to rain and outside not covered.

Go here every Tuesday since this latest lockdown for our Tuesday morning treat. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Coffee is good too

Too slow when ordering through the app

I often vist this store, as I stroll into the village. Pleanty of cakes and sandwiches always available here. Guy on the till overcharged me, with no cream on my mocha! Staff seem friendly but need to take time to get orders correct.

Not covid secure at all..no distancing queueing up, no-one asked for contact details, no clear markings where to stand no spacing between customers entering and leaving

My husband and I love Costa coffee but since covid I have had a very bad experience in the Birkdale and Lord St ones. Being screamed at to get behind the line by kids while they spit all over the cakes is unbelievable. And for those of you who don't believe it should have been there. As a pensioner in my late 70s I expect some respect particularly as I was already a good 6ft behind the next customer. Chapel st Costa is different again. Staff ask politely. Apart from that and before covid I really liked both places. UPDATE - Went in again after a week and it is now totally different, have now been in nearly everyday since then and staff fantastic. Could have just been over worried about covid before. Glad all well now.

Costa Birkdale has the loveliest staff, so helpful, patient, kind and friendly. They have created an amazing atmosphere in there with a range of items to cater to everyone. They make a chain store feel like a homely independent cafe. Lovely x

Well covered for covid nice staff

Had an iced honeycomb cappuccino. Was good, not too sweet but you could still taste the honeycomb. They let people in without masks and the staff don't wear them either so that's not great

This Costa had some very friendly staff and it was big enough for my family to find a spot and sit around to chat. The coffee was as bad as o expected but so long as you have a milky one - they're all made rather universally - and tou don't expect it to be good, then you'll have an ace time

Always friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere with lots of light where I can sit and work over a coffee and a bite to eat. Built in an old bank and the safes are the toilets which just adds a bit more interest. Really handy for the station as well!

Great place good coffee pleasant staff

Well situated in the heart of the village close to the train station and bus stops. Early opening is an attractive feature and enables a coffee stop prior to any other plans for the day. I tried the ruby hot chocolate. New to me and I loved it. The cream on top goes perfectly.

Visited on a very busy Sunday morning. The two girls running the place where really helpful, fast and cheerful and personal with every customer even though the place was rammed. They kept on top of keeping the place clean and basically smashed life. They definitely should be rewarded for there hard work. 👍

Disappointed with the choice of cakes very little to choose from also the coffee at Birkdale not as good as the coffee in Southport can you explain why there is a difference.

Not sure what other people have complained about. I found the staff helpful, the place was clean and tidy and the drinks well made. All standard for a Costa coffee. If your looking for something a bit more up market then you are in the wrong place

Again, to reiterate, great product, great service, BUT NOT ENOUGH STAFF. I again had to clear and clean my table . It's a damn shame you put profits before your staff and customers.... Usual Costa coffee shop in a bank which closed a year or so ago. Pleasant atmosphere and handy just to pop in for a coffee when shopping in the village.

Gray costa, nice lounge in up market Birkdale

I went on a date with my boyfriend to Costa in Birkdale village, as we do on some Thursday afternoons. However, on this particular trip we were treated quite differently than anytime before. We were greeted by the most miserable baristas I had ever met. Me and my boyfriend were paying separately so we both stood in the queue waiting to order and pay. The baristas kept letting people cut in front of us in the queue and ended up completely ignoring my order therefore I decided not to purchase anything from the company on this particular day as they had disregarded my will to pay for a beverage. I’ve never been treated like this before and I’m actually quite disappointed because I’ve always been treated very well.

Went to costa with my son at 6.10pm(the shop closes at 6.30) asked for 2 hot chocolates for my sons and 2 hazelnut lattes for myself and partner.. the dark haired girl with long pink nails working said she had wrapped the syrups.. (by this she meant she had out cling film around the top of the bottle) so after a couple of times of looking st my watch seen as the were in fact still open for another 20 minutes and after telling me she couldn’t because she still had to clean everywhere else.. she gave in and said yes.. then she got the order wrong not making the right amount.. and when I finally got home she had put gingerbread syrup in both lattes.. which neither of us like.. I was very dissatisfied and won’t be returning.. I think she was more interested in packing up so she could walk through the door st 6.30 then any sort of attention to the guests that walk through the door.. very poor service

So handy to nip in for a coffee before or after a train journey. Sometimes very pleasant staff, helpful and friendly. Think we often pick the wrong time when cleaning and banging chairs happens...not relaxing.

The coffee was fine but there was very little options for gluten free. No flapjacks either (never known a Costa without flapjacks!)The assistant on the till looked unimpressed to be there & when i asked about specific gf options she wasnt very happy in her answer. In fact she didnt look happy at all. Poor girl. I do like being treated with pleasant assistants. There are lots of alternative places for coffee in Birkdale! Even if you are having a bad day.... its not the customers fault!

The star is for the coffee. It is frustrating that there's a large variety of lovely looking cakes, tarts, sandwiches and salads available but none of it is gluten free except a small (overpriced) prepackaged chocolate brownie. In future I will be visiting smaller independent cafés that have no problem providing comparable gluten free options.

Very dirty with no very organised staff

Costa coffee is weak at best of times. It's now so weak you may as well ask for a babychino. It's just warm, brown, frothy milk.

It's ok. It's a corporate coffee shop, over priced and soulless. But clean and tidy

Tried to go into place next door in wheelchair but was told door broken so could not go in so went into this wonderful Costa. Ramp outside push button operated door opening plenty of room inside and wonderfully helpful staff who bought food drinks to table. Been to loads of Costas but has to be up there as one of the best

Came on Sunday morning with 93 year old relative who is in wheelchair.She lives locally so we pushed her in to village on a very hot morning 10.30amWanted to sit outside as hot ...few tables outside Had to move dirty used tray off a table to get wheelchair access.Went in to order.An espresso ,a cappuccino and a flat white.The espresso was made first ....then the chap took an age messing about with jugs of milk and thermometers pouring milk back and forth from jug to jug.It took forever.The espresso and cappuccino were waiting on the tray whilst he messed about !Bought an almond slice and a very dry ,hard cherry bakewell.By the time I carried the tray outside and negotiated past the pigeons they were picking up the crumbs off the uncleared crumb laden tables I had had enough!My espresso was only just warm (gone in ONE gulp,)as it was made first !Himself said his flat white " wasn't EVEN warm!"Couldn't be bothered to complain as there seemed no point.Aged relative said the bakewell was stale..I don't go out "for coffee" very often and took a considered choice to go to COSTA...think this was a big mistake....Should have gone to one of the many independent restaurants in Birkdale Village.Haven't been here before....won't be going again....OH ! And it cost £ 11

Costa is a good brand you get what you expect and it almost the same in every site. The service was good and the queue wasn’t too long so all happy. A few tables needed cleaning outside but hey ho

Busy early morning rush, served quick and with a smile, great coffee and enjoyed in the sun.

Overpriced for mass produced food. Had an egg mayonnaise sandwich which was bland, tasteless and boring.

Called in recently for a flat white and a spicy sausage roll and it was great, Very Busy but the 2 staff dealt with the customers very well and even had time for a friendly chat. Vey efficient at their jobs and very helpful, credit to them. Good atmosphere in the Birkdale shop and the coffee and snack were great. Fully Recommended!

Don't like Costa but was desperate not as good as Starbucks. Sorry
