Excellent place for a coffee etc

The only Costa that messes my order up every time.

First time visit and probably the last too! Bought a hot chocolate (standard size) and immediately was shocked by the price, not only that the drink came out warm, expected a full cup worths and got just over half a cup (60%). Seriously expected a full cups worth for the price hence the score. The only good part of my visit was at least the chocolate drink was nice.

Beats sidcup apart from missing the staff . Lovely staff here also and much more up to date

I asked for a flat white coffee, I received a long black with milk on the side?......Coffee was undrinkable disgusting taste.

I just love a cake and latte after shopping. Walked from town to this one in Exeter St as busy in town ones.

Coffee and service was bad on our visit. Only use this store when we're shopping nearby, but starbucks is better, so we will stick to there from now on.

Staff were really friendly and efficient even when really busy

Had Doctors appointment moved so was early. Decided to pop into Costa for a cup of coffee and it was nice and enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and comfortable in welcoming the customers and the whole area and toilets were very clean. I would surely return and recommend to friends and family.

Costa Coffee Outlets are more often than not of a high standard no matter which one you visit. The Friary Retail Park Costa being a good example. Clean and Tidy with Good Efficient Friendly Staff. Menu was the standard Costa offering which is full of options both Drinks & Food. Flat White & Latte we’re our choices and very smooth and tasty they were.

Just how we like it ie. Quiet time of day to pop in.

A number of times I have visited this store and about 30% of the time the coffee is bad. Only luke-warm, half the cup is foam etc. This problem took a week to sort out with Costa customer services but I won't be visiting this particular store again. Other stores in the city seem to be fine but I have had bad experiences with this one. Staff are polite but sometimes seem a bit lost. ________ I have come back on occasions to this store and I am happy to say it has improved drastically. The coffee is always hot and full of flavour, wait times aren't too long either. However, the staff at this particular store are amazingly friendly and helpful. I was previously served by a gentlemen, I believe named Steve, who was very polite. Today I was served by a young lady named Saffron who was smiling at every customer, extremely polite, and more than happy to help me with my Costa app to get a good deal! She was more than happy to explain to me what to do, but was also happy to do it herself for me, which I found most helpful. The cake however was quite disappointing. It tasted slightly stale and I believe was yesterday's leftovers. If I didn't get the cake for the £1 deal, I would have returned it. Once again, the staff are the highlight of this store and will keep me returning.

First time in this Costa, very disappointed. Poor layout, carpet needs a good hoovering, dirty under the tables and under the windows. Coffee as good as usual in any Costa, but not much variety on gluten-free. Very busy, but needs a good thorough clean! I would not pay their cleaners in washers!

Great coffee as usual in these stores. The layout of this store isn't great and is always really busy when I go in there. When waiting after ordering there doesn't seem like a lot of room to wait without getting in the way.

Costa at Friary Retail Park has some real caring staff as the place was spotless and they cleared and sanitised tables as soon as people departed. Service was very good and coffee was the usual smooth Costa Taste. Good display of snacks as well.

It was okay not the best coffee that I've had

We were in Friary Retail Park and in need of a hot drink…….where else but Costa, especially as there is one at the Park. As always in our experience a nice friendly welcome and nice quick service from the two Baristas on duty. We sat to enjoy a Cortado and Latte. Plenty of Indoor Seating with a couple of Tables outside should the weather turn pleasant.

Just wanted a nice coffee but there was one draw back NO SUGAR!! they ran out of brown sugar weeks ago an have now tun out of white! This is not good enough for a large chain such as this. On the complex there were 2 shops that sold sugar!!! Did not enjoy my coffee.

Quite busy and table clearing wasn't happening whilst we drank and ate inside. But...it was great quality Costa coffee, frostino and cake: we've not been to a Costa for more than 18 months so this was a lovely treat. Staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our visit. Thanks ladies! 😊

Excellent staff, very clean establishment .

Today I was greeted at this Costa by a very rude staff member (who was leaving the store), who simply said "Really" in an unpleasant tone, before shoeing me out of the cafe. For context, I was holding my puppy, with the idea of going in to order (as I can't leave a 12 week old dog outside) and then eating outside. I understand there is a no dog policy, but I would appreciate it if staff were polite in explaining this. I did not 'decide' not to order here, I was unable to. I will not be ordering from here while there if such a rude person working here. As a side note, there is a PetAtHome a couple of units over, so there really ought to be a sign on the door that says "don't bother even trying to order here if you're a pet owner".

Member of staff with orangey hair was very rude to customers and other members of staff - it was hard to watch. I understand that the current covid situation is stressful but that is no excuse. This member of staff sounded particularly snappy with a young girl so was on the till. At one point saying 'I asked you to do something and you ignored me', I heard this from a few feet away. The girl was under a lot of pressure and couldve simply not heard. Despite this the young girl was very polite to us. As well as this the member of staff made remarks to customers. Shouting across the shop to one man whose young daughter was simply being a 2/3 year old. The member of staff shouted 'can you make your daughter sit down' rather rudely. I also heard this member of staff saying 'no and we haven't for 6 years so I don't know why you're asking' to a customer who asked if they sell cinnamon lattes. Really put me off spending money at this store, especially as I have experienced this here before.

Visited for a coffee with my wife. Went to so at a table for a staff member to shout across the restaurant that I couldn’t sit there and it was takeout only. I understand things are different in the current climate,but why have around 20 tables out when you can’t sit at them,and a bit of politeness saying I’m sorry there’s no available tables rather than embarrassing customers by shouting out in front of the whole cafe would be better. Needless to say we didn’t buy a coffee and we won’t be back.

Customer service ok at best. Was asked if drinking in or taking out we replied in and then told there was no space. Why not just say that its take away only in the first place. As for the order no smile from the barristers also didnt say that what we ordered only came in small and medium though not stated when we ordered. Paid more for take away then dining in go figure. Was then asked again if we were having in after she knew we were taking away Very dissappointed as i normally give the company 5 stars

Was asked if we were drinking in or taking out so we stated we would like to drink in and was then told there was no space...why not just say this in the first place?? And the same repeated to customers behind also. No smile or greeting from the barista serving us. Yes these are difficult times, but I work in retail myself and it is part and parcel of the job where you are paid to be accomadating towards customers with greetings. Not the usual standard of Costa as they are usually much better in the way of service, as I have reviewed often other times.

Came here to grab a coffee. There was a wait to get in as they have limited capacity inside as part of the Covid responsw. They have social distancing markers outside for the queue outside though they weren't accounting for people there just wanting one to go rather than sit in. I ordered a latte. There was quite a wait. It seemed a little disorganised & uncoordinated but the staff were doing as best they could. I would come back here. The standard of coffee was decent. Recommend.

Very friendly service, with clear guidelines and areas to stand. The small amounts of seating are well spaced and well controlled.

I was amazed at how long it took to get served in this establishment. They are serving coffee not a 3 course meal. Not the place to go if you're in a hurry.

Cups are too big. Be ok if they were filled with stronger quality coffee and not water. I like the cakes and the staff are lovely. Improve the coffee and I'll give you 5 stars.

I have been coming here for a long time but think it is now time to stop. Staff are always a bit hectic, unfriendly and unhelpful. Tables are grim and the dust on ledge above soft chairs near toilets is gross. Hot drinks are always served after cold drinks are made so luke warm at best, food takes too long and not always soap in toilets. Most Costa cafes are the same. Rubbish

Good place to talk and love the coffee

This is a typically average Costa on a little estate which includes a Poundland shop, Poundstretcher, Dunelm, pet store, toy shop and Hobbycraft store. There is plenty of parking for all these shops and the whole area is close to the city centre. The coffees were served quite quickly by friendly staff and there were plenty of free tables . Unfortunately the tables weren’t cleared or clean and even worse was the dirt on ledges underneath the table. This area had obviously never been cleaned! Somebody needs to sort out the cleaning of this cafe!

Whenever you pay a visit to Costa Coffee the Experience is Consistently Good. We went to the Costa in Friary Retail Park and the Coffee and Service were very good and the Seating Area Kept clear and very clean. Coffees were excellent as always and the general feel was very good.

Tables piled high with dirty cups ect. Yet there were 5 staff behind the counter and it wasn't that busy. The staff were more interested in talking about what they were doing on Saturday night than serving people .

Costa is usually good for consistently mediocre coffee, however the coffee here was so bad own brand smart price would have been better. It was very weak yet horribly bitter.

Went in for a coffee late afternoon today. Coffee & staff were fine but closing sections of the seating area & hoovering is not so fine!! People were still coming in & stuggling to find a seat because staff decided to put chairs on the tables to deter people from staying. Not nice hearing a hoover going off when you want to enjoy your coffee!!
