Got a jammy dodger and bubblegum ice-cream which was very nice. They had a fair few interesting and unique flavours, I wish I got to try more. Service was great and staff were very friendly.

Famished at lunchtime and finding a parking space on Southside St at this end of The Ope we put our heads round the door only to find that all vestiges of pasties and the pasty business had gone with just an ice cream chiller display across the middle of the room containing Valenti’s ices.

Lovely vegan pasties 😋 We were hit by a sudden thunder storm and they allowed us shelter and gave us a free tea while we waited for them to freshly bake some vegan pasties. The staff are really lovely ☺️ definitely drop by if you want fuel for a walk

As you can see in title horrible! Dreadful pastry and awful, weird tasting filling. The tea was not nice at all. Souless atmosphere and grumpy man behind counter. Never again!

If you're ever out and about around the Barbican and are coeliac, pop in here an hour before you need your gluten-free pasty and they'll cook it for you from frozen. My mum and I thoroughly enjoyed our lovely gluten-free pasties and my husband and daughter loved their giant sausage rolls. We ate in and I also enjoyed a lovely, reasonably priced hot mug of Cornish tea. I pop in whenever I go to the Barbican.

I came into The Bakehouse a few weeks ago wanting a sandwich, however, they do not serve sandwiches and I had to have a sausage roll not feeling the hungry for a Cornish Pastry. We had been elsewhere for a bite to eat and the places we went was full up and we only had a couple of hours, which was a lunchtime when we arrived in Plymouth. By this time we were giving up until we went into the Queens Arms and the The Manager said we could take our food into her pub, as they don't serve food and if we bought a drink they will let us into eat our takeaway. She mentioned the Bakehouse across the road, which we did and after ordering my sausage roll, I was muddle up in what we were doing and asked the lady if she had any cold drinks and she said over there, but I couldn't see where she was telling me, as I am Blind and then my mum told me that we were going back over the road with the pastries, so I never knew where the cold drinks were in the cooler. The sausage roll and Vegan sausage roll was okay, but I think the other ladies didn't enjoy their pastries. If I am in Plymouth again I will try to look for a sandwich bar or shop, as I am not really into Pastry.

Well filled large traditional pasties along with friendly service and good coffee. Power pasty made a nice change from normal.

We called in about 2pm. Plenty of stock left and we picked traditional steak and carried them back to the Dolphin to have with pints. Frankly not up to much. Size maybe OK but the pastry on all the them was dried right out and in parts dusty. You could break the away or eat around them but sadly the fillings were also dryish , no hint of moisture and under seasoned. The pieces of meat were in clumps and uninvitingly chewy. A very poor lunch but for the perfectly kept draught Bass.

It was kind of weird. I went in as I was waiting for a friend, wanted to sit somewhere and have a pasty and cup of tea, rather than get a takeaway and sit outside. It is a small cafe and I had to do some work on my laptop so put my bag down on a seat at the window, both to use a plug socket and secondly to not take a table up just for myself so others could use it. As i did this I heard a shout from the other side of the room "oi, dont sit there these 3 people in the que want to sit there". It was quite startling as I was just lost in my own thoughts. I was tempted to leave as it was very rude but thought OK, I can go with it. I went up to the counter and 3 elderly people were just finishing ordering and said actually we want a table not the window seats. The owner then said "oh sorry, i thought they wanted the window seats, i hope you dont mind me shouting at you". I felt OK, I am only here for 30 mins or so and sucked it up. Ordered food and a tea. She gave me the pasty and I sat down. Plugged my laptop in and sat doing some work. She kindly brought my tea over a little while later. About 10 minutes later she walked up to me and said "oh I see you're using my socket". I said "oh, OK, I'm sorry if thats not allowed". She said abruptly "it would be nice to be asked". I just left. The pasty was very dry and very limited fillings with very small amount of meat inside (traditional steak pasty). Has left me thinking she just didnt want anyone in there. I was wearing a gold watch, am a Dr, very well spoken, polite and good looking, nice linen shirt, very smartly dressed. I know there is a big drug problem in Plymouth but definitely couldn't be accused of being unsavoury/ justificsation for incurring a vile attitude. I'd find another pasty shop or if you do go in dont use the plug socket (what cafes need you to ask to use a socket if you're eating/ drinking in there?) nowadays?

Staff very friendly, clean shop, kept external tables clean as customers vacated, could not get a glass a milk, first time for me, flexibility is the key to good business, but not the end of the day

Yet another fresh start food business in the old Prete’s corner premises. The Barbican Bakehouse is predominantly pasties. The big signs say Simply Cornish which is a more contemporary sounding trade name for part of the group who run the Warren’s bakery group who have branches under that name all over Plymouth and throughout Cornwall and beyond. At the new shop there are signs saying that the pasties are freshly baked on the premises, which made us wonder how then they could be described as ‘Cornish’ but it seems, for what it’s worth that the pasties throughout the group may be made at an industrial unit somewhere like Bodmin. That, if it’s correct, slightly knocks the romantic artisan projection on the head but it depends on your expectations. To some extent a pasty is a pasty. The ones they sell here are not exciting. The pastry crimp is I feel disproportionately big compared with the rest of the pasty. I often wish you could get the counter staff to trim it off before passing it over. Warrens are a pretty run of the mill bakery, this new branding and venture into Plymouth may turn out to be an improvement but my first tasting was functional and ordinary. But it’s each to their own preference. Interesting that pasty prices escalate on a par with cigarettes and railway tickets.

We just had a fantastic breakfast at The Hyde Park. Everything was piping hot, cooked to perfection, presented well and served promptly. We have been going to The Hyde Park for many years now, and despite numerous other establishments popping up in the vicinity, nothing is as good as a Hyde Park meal. I would also like to point out that Ryan (the manager), is totally customer focused, and will do everything in his power to ensure that customer’s expectations are met. Thank you Ryan.

An absolutely fabulous venue. We were looking for a nice place to have a quiet cocktail for an 18th birthday treat. The staff were fantastic, the atmosphere was perfect. It didn't get stupidly busy and the clientele was calm, surprising for a Saturday. Highly recommend xx

Went for the Sunday carvery today. The atmosphere was very friendly. All the staff were great and we had a banter with the chef which was a nice change from someone just giving you food . The food was hot and tasty. We would Recommend anyone to try it . We Will definitely go again ! Tracey & Paul
