Costa Coffee in Birmingham

Was OK until we saw a mouse run across the floor, informed staff who we not really interested, hard to contact costa head office, emails not being delivered, phone lines closed, have informed environmental health

Visted Costa, Grand Central, Birmingham and had the pleasure of being served by Chris. What a lovely guy. Polite and chatty and offering amazing service. What blew me away is how i witnessed Chris deal with a disabled customer. Not fair to go into detail. However what i saw blew my mind. Chris helped this guy with compassion and dignity and a smile. Chris went above and beyond what most people would do to help someone. A huge pat on the back for Chris. A lot of organisations could learn a lot from guys like Chris. A lovely Coffee and cake as well.

Staff is very rude, lady who's no sense to talk with customer.

Toilets dirty, very little coffee in the ‘coffee’, poor wifi! Mostly a sugary milky drink of some sort.

The attitude of the staff can be improved

Important! The sort Asian young woman was very rude, unprofessional, uncivil, no manors... I went into this place on Friday 4 October in afternoon approx, with some of my guest visiting Brum (for a day out) and bought some food and drinks ,was severed by this very unpleasant person no thank you or smile what so ever! when approached her couple of times and said thank you just had a dirty look back (no respect) and when we left one of us said thank you still no reply just a stupid attitude look back. This is supposed to be a enjoyable day out, not to have unpleasant negative experience at Costa. I will not go in there ever again and advise others of my experience. Plenty of other coffee shop nearby. Shame on you Costa no proper training for your staff? Bad management who filter down to front staff! I did try calling but no number goes through as I rather have spoken to someone then leave this review.

Would be a higher review but this place doesn’t open until 0800 amd closes at 1900 midweek and 1800 at weekends. This is a major railway station, that is ludicrous you can’t get food and drink after those times.

More than five stars for customer service if possible. Went beyond expectations from all team. Special mention to Chris. Coffee was fine, did the job, nothing special. Relatively peaceful at the time of day I visited.

Fitout/management have not installed a cover over the ice blender to cut costs. Very noisy as it echoes through the whole store. Marin? Friendly and helpful.

Didn’t catch her name but the ginger Barisa at this costa coffee was super nice and helpful, delivered service with a smile and got me what I wanted.

Hi I went in for a latte and I gave the guy £5 Scottish note and he said we don’t take it so either pay by card or uk currency and I said why not Scottish and then I paid by £20 uk note but still at that moment we were have an argument why u don’t take he was like take your and go and go complain anywhere I don’t care apparently he was the manager and he thinks he can talk anything he wants Very bad experience been going there for long and most of the staff knows me sadly won’t go back

I came with my daughters today and we been served by Mr Marian, very friendly and professional! I recommend this costa as is always very clean, and great service 👍🏻

Even though this branch is always busy and looks understaffed as I’ve never seen more than 2 staff members there, it is my favorite costa and I always go there to study or just have a quick bite before uni.

It's always nice to visit and have a good, strong cup of coffee.

First visit here, seemed clean but was earlier in morning, staff lovely and friendly, good location on upper level. As always a really good place to get a gorgeous drink and relax.

Not my usual Costa. It was spoiled for my sister and I who were in Birmingham for the day for a meet up. The table next to us which was already fairly close was a table for two which eventually had five young people sitting at it. They were loud and my sister and I could not hold a conversation so we eventually left. Probably what they wanted.

Always great coffee and ambience

Should introduce ground cinnamon. I do like to have it sprinkled on top of my late and the other places offer it.

Very busy when I visited and it didn't help that people with laptops took out several tables. Clearing tables seemed to take a while but staff were responsive when I asked them to remove dirty crockery. Coffee was as good as usual.

I was priming my brain by doing sodukus and crosswords, whilst consuming a medium black americano in my flask.

Had breakfast lovely lady on her own but great service food lovely and costa coffee is the best.

Can't comment on the food or the atmosphere because the lady behind the counter was too busy chatting to some friends to even notice customers waiting. Walked out.

Atypical Costa store, really. Plenty of seats, no complaints.

Staff are so polite and this must be the cleanest costa coffee shop I have ever been in. Staff are always cleaning the tables ready for the next customers

This Costa Coffee has a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and a wide range of coffee options make it a must-visit.

Staff polite service quick..usual Costa..

Staff rude and ignorant. Went in this afternoon for food and drinks. Joined the queue to order and pay, and was completely ignored. Waited patiently to be served after the person in front of me had paid and whilst waiting, another person walked in and joined the queue. The guy serving completely ignored me and decided to serve the person who came in after me instead. Ditched the two bottles of water I'd already picked up from the refrigerator as part of my order and walked out. Decided to spend my money at another coffee shop where they are happy to take my money and where they treat their customers with some respect.

Came for a quick drink whilst in town. Plenty of seats and clean.

Really friendly staff yesterday!

Toilets were filthy and overflowing. Staff just wanted you out of the store even though it was nearly 2hrs before closing time

Friend realised she lost her purse after ordering drinks, we apologised and when we returned the barista remade our drinks fresh, amazing and thanks!

Always great to visit a Costa. The service is always friendly. Nice food and drink and I can usually find a quiet place to sit. No complaints at all.

Gotta be the best costa coffee I’ve ever been to. Decided to pop in with my girlfriend to claim her free drink. Right from the start the staff were friendly, bubbly, polite and welcoming. The man who made our drink, the mango ice cooler, made it quicker than Usain Bolt doing his laps. Thankyou.

The staff in here were SO friendly and helpful. Had mac and cheese and a sausage sandwich, food was delicious. Lots of tables so plenty of seating.

Was convenient as kid wanted hot chocolate with flake. I turned around for a few seconds and the next thing you know i couldnt see the flake. Lady tells me its inside the hot chocolate I said oh no why? She told me my kid said so i told her hes only a baby why not ask me? Anyway the CCTV will show polite behaviour by myself even smiled during the convo. No aggressive body langiage at all. In comes Deano (no not a dog but a short i suppose italian guy) starts shouting at me that my kid said so. Then he charges at me around the counter making up for his very short height aggressively i put my hand out warning him not to step into my personal space. he says its because he cant hear me! What nonsense he answered everything and run at me like a small jack russell. Clearly small man syndrome took over. As he wouldnt stop shouting I told him to shut up n go n sit down as your scaring my kid. After telling him a few tines he went and sat down like a lil gnome he is and told me not to visit his shop again. His shop? Lol. Anyway i left and realised the man is a typical racist short italian. Guys if your asian or black stay clear of this place. You wouldnt have kept your patience with him.

This is definitely not as good as other Costas. I asked for an ice vanilla latte, got a Lukewarm latte with no vanilla to taste, despite the extra 50p you pay for it. The milk definitely tasted off as well. The woman clearly didn't listen and gave me my drink in a glass even though I specifically asked for takeaway. Don't think I'll be coming here again. - UPDATE - I came again out of convenience, got a salted caramel frappe which was just as good as every other Costa. I think the main issue before was that they didn't put ice in the ice latte. Bit of an odd one!

Starbucks has better interiors Costa has better coffee. Both are worse than independent coffee shops like York’s around the corner.

Didn’t want cream, but wanted it full for £3.70. Absolutely no care given by staff, this is the second time the same member of staff has done this. No excuse for not reading order, when receipt expressly states no cream, and especially no excuse giving me a drink that looks like someone’s already had a go at it!

Lovely coffee. Felt sorry for 3 members if staff having to cope with ordering, prep, serving and clearing! They did it , though, and with pleasant serve, comments and smiles.

Popped in for a drink with my grandchildren. Was very impressed with the staff - friendly and helpful. So nice to see people happy at work.

Had the best experience when I came in with my son who decided to have a major tantrum, I wanted to run out. Only to be received with kindness from one of the staff, thanks for being awesome!

Its a bit noisy if you are by the window, but you can people watch. Staff were a little short with the lady next to me who'd ordered her drink on the Uber app and had ordered to the wrong Costa in the centre.

I'm sitting in this Costa, wondering what the name of the absolute LEGEND is that served us, when I've just heard someone call him "Michael." And while I've sat here, he has been awesome with every customer that's walked in ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Manager needs retraining in dealing with customers who have extra needs/disabilities.

Standard Costa Coffee but with the Big difference, the staff were great, really helpful, (and with small kids you need all the help you can get). The toilets however were a total disgrace hence not a 5*

Barista was grumpy and it all seemed too much for him.he didn't offer sugar and wasn't too helpful. Costa was clean and comfortable.

Standard stuff. Pretty good quality and a little over priced. As ever, the tea tasted terrible (not quite sure how they manage it)

My daughter and I went there for a drink and a sit down. The toilets weren't open unfortunately.

Very clean and spacious so social distancing and hygiene is clearly a priority here. The seats are incredibly comfortable and the atmosphere is very relaxed so perfect for a catch up with friends or a nice quiet place to wait for your train etc. The staff are very polite, helpful and accommodating. The only negative I can point out is that the pastry my sister had ordered was earned too much despite specifying to only warm it slightly. Nothing to prevent me from returning to this establishment at all.

Open again after being closed for months due to the lockdown. QR codes to scan for track and trace. Same usual drinks. Less tables to sit at. WiFi works fine.

Staff pleasant, and the tea was nice.

Although I only wanted to ask if the equipment he used to scoop the ice was clean (Since I saw him put the same plastic box he used to scoop the ice with on top of the rubbish bin and then on the floor)I received a very rude response. Seeing how they store such equipment of course I asked him about it. Only for him to get really defensive and start muttering loudly about how I dare to question his hygiene practices. You would think that during this pandemic they would care a bit more about the level of cleanliness at least in front of the customers. I'm afraid to think about what happens in the places unseen by the customers if that's how they present themselves in front of us. tl;dr Rude customer service and poor hygiene practices.

Even though I asked for extra hot still only got a Luke warm coffee. Why can't these so called professional Baristas make hot drinks???. McDonald's can make hot coffee from an automated machine why can't Costa do it.?

We go in to costa when we out love it.

Considering it's a VERY busy branch, the service never is poor. The drinks and food are always top class and the store in general is clean. Oh and an increasing number of coffee shops now close their toilets except for customers. None of that here, it's just going that but extra to make people welcome, not just those that are buying £3+ drinks. Only thing that goes against it is oddly how busy the place is. It means you can't really drink in. Small point going against what is an excellent place.

Had a lovely breakfast here sat an early hour before a morning business meeting. Typical Costa coffee and bacon roll, but the staff were lovely, which added the extra star.
