Costa Coffee in Monmouthshire

This costa has always been a prime visit when me and my friend go to abergavenny, alwyas excited for our salted caramel frappe with skimmed milk, extra caramel, the team at costa are always inviting and just make you feel welcome and happy to be there, it’s an amazing place to study/revise with the free wifi there so it’s aswelll an amazing stop for my and my friend to come revise A levels, probably has to be my favourite coffee shop anywhere in the world!!

Great location right in the middle of the main shopping area. Coffee was great as per usual, staff cheerful and attentive, but they could have done with having an extra member of staff on to lighten the load. The queue was quite long and the ladies were doing a sterling job. If you are in a rush, I would go elsewhere !

As always lovely service from the people who work here, your hard work is always appreciated especially on the cold winter mornings :)

Its a Costa - you can only say so much... however the staff here (particularly the young man) were outstanding, and could not be more friendly and helpful. Really made it a great experience. Only negative - no loo roll in the toilet!

Always pop in here for my morning coffee. The team are always happy to see you and know their regular customers by name . Always a great cup of coffee and friendly banter Since covid i have seen how these ladies have been treated by the public who are rude, aggressive and threatening all because they have to fill in an app and show id. It is Costa's policy not the store team being difficult. Show respect they are only doing their job. How would you like your wife/girlfriend to be treated like this.

Have been coming to this branch for nearly 8 years for my caffeine fix, what a fantastic team they are. Seen some staff changes over the years but always a pleasure to visit. Karen, Bec & team always welcoming, and greeted with a ‘hello’ even if they’ve had a day of ‘difficult’ customers. Given the current climate we all need to be patient & understanding to ALL ‘service’ industry staff and people in general.

The Ladies at the Abergavenny Costa’s are always so welcoming and friendly. I pop in there quite often for my fix of caffeine. Never had a bad experience.

Needed a passport to get served didnt realised i crossed the border. Wouldnt even accept student id or photo poor customer service

We have never experienced customer service as bad as this place. The staff were aggressive, rude and bossy from the minute we walked in. They had some complicated Covid tracking service that they asked us to log into (not the standard NHS one) and then we had to show them proof we had done it and provide proof of ID before we were allowed to order. They didn’t explain that both of us had to do this. My husband only had his phone with him - so no proof of ID so we weren’t allowed in. All the while orders were being barked at us and nothing was being explained properly or with any politeness. Honestly if you saw this in a sitcom it would be hilarious as it was an absolute joke. I really hope the Costa franchise owners read this and see how badly this was being managed and how these ignorant people were attempting to run this place. I think they must have been prison wardens in a previous role. We went down to Luigi’s afterwards and had a lovely experience. Again a different tracking arrangement but very politely explained (after we were seated) and no, we didn’t have to show ID. They actually laughed when I asked them if it would be needed!

Excellent staff , the implementation of Covid , brilliantly done by Louise . A welcoming and safe place to have a drink and a chat .

Called in while in town and was really pleased to see the staff adhering to all the Covid regulations which put my mind at rest . Coffee and cake were great.. just what you'd expect and the staff were all lovely and took the time to explain how things worked. Would definitely recommend.

Such a shame that Costa Abergavenny has such a poisonous atmosphere completely created by shouty staff.

For that Sunday offering of charmless service look no further than this place. Normally Costa's are good places to relax with a coffee and cake, but this one takes the biscuit.

Whilst visiting the food festival we decided to have a quick break . Coffee as good as always, friendly staff and although it was busy they were coping well . Nice and clean

Member of staff offered my one year old a marshmallow. This was kind, but it is a known choking hazard for this age group. As I am sure most parents are aware. I declined the offer but felt I should make staff aware as it did make me feel slightly uneasy!Generally speaking however, the service and atmosphere is excellent

My wife and I stopped here for hot chocs and paminis. The drinks wereception made just as we had requested (strong hot chocolate ).Both girls on duty were very welcoming and friendly.

Nice coffee and a relaxing atmosphere, for a well earned break after a lot of walking. Very friendly staff and a nicely toasted tea cake to go with the coffee. Open in a Sunday when lots of the other coffee shops were closed.

Have visited here regularly since the branch was opened but it has gone downhill in recent months. On the whole staff are disinterested and do not like to be asked for anything out of the ordinary. Tables are often not cleared regularly and staff seem happier to have a chat than deal with customers. Coffee is also poor for the price can get just a good a cup next door for a fraction of the price!

Always guaranteed a good cup of coffee with Costa. Conveniently located in the main street and very busy. Only complaint was that the toilet was not in use so all customers wanting to use the toilet had to queue to use the disabled cubicle.

Pop in here on a regular basis, but this evening was very disappointed. The place was freezing and when the tea came it was a cup and a bit not the usual 2 and that to was freezing!! Not a customer tonight.

We were there on a very busy Tuesday market day in Half Term. Tables were cleaned as soon as customers left. My husband likes decaf tea and skimmed milk, which were available (not always the case in some places) and my cappuccino was lovely. Toasted sandwiches were delicious and brought to us very quickly. Meal deal is very good value.

We popped in for a snack lunch following a long walk. The product quality with Costa Coffee is consistent and in this case, service was also good. So, two Americano's and two Ham & Cheese Panini's were quickly ordered, served and eaten (oh yes, and paid for).

I frequently use Costa Drive Thru in Abergavenny. The Manager and staff are so friendly and efficient. Great customer service to start my day 👍🏽

Visited the High Street branch on Tuesday (07/08) just after 10:00 No queue and several empty tables. As seems to be the norm all of the empty tables had used cups on them. Anyway within seconds of sitting down all of the tables were cleared. We ordered coffee and toasted sandwiches. No sooner had we ordered than the place seemed to fill up, with a queue almost out of the door. Our toasties arrived quite quickly and were hot and tasty. Unusually we weren't offered a knife, or serviettes and we couldn't see either in a self service point. We had our own tissues and managed without a knife. Overall with the exception of no serviettes or knife, we were more than happy with this place, Usual standard of coffee and food, pleasant staff. Never going to be the cheapest coffee on the high street, but well worth a stop off.

Meaning: this coffee is great and the size of the cups is even bigger. Good choice of delicious lunch wraps, I particularly liked the vegan wrap with squash and spinach and... Find out yourself!

Never could understand the attraction of Costa, but family pressure required us to visit. The visit confirmed my dislike, would rather have proper coffee elsewhere. The best part of the visit was 'people watching' the passing trade from the outside tables.

Lovely coffee and surprisingly a lovely toastie sandwich. Spotlessly clean cafe aswell. Ideally located next door to the Preimer Inn.

Fourth visit to New Costa in llanfoist, once again going service prompt and courteous, coffee very good baristas always do a good job , bright and airy coffee house , will return, keep it up.

Popped in here for a coffee. Queued for absolute ages and when coffee was ready it was lukewarm and tasted like dish water. I complained and they gave me another one but it was still awful. Left and vowed never to return!

I just had the misfortune of visiting your High Street Abergavenny Costa store. The first impression was very poor, only about 5 tables were occupied however all the other tables were not cleared even though the staff were engaged in lengthy conversations with themselves.

We always visit a Costa for coffee and hot chocolate. You can reply on the taste and quality and we always enjoy our visit.

Have been coming in for a few months as often work in the theatre in Abergavenny. The staff are amazing, always friendly and chatty and take a genuine interest in what you’re up to. Service is always brilliant at any time of day, highlighted this week when a mate and I went in just as they were closing to get a caffeine hit before our show started. Despite being in the middle of cleaning everything down, they made our drinks and had a good laugh with us. Cheers guys!

This place is an average Costa coffee shop, everything is simply the same throughout the whole chain, the coffee is a little less harsh with the new roast. The staff were very helpful when we entered with a wheelchair.

Costa is a brand so it's no different here than any other Costa but that's absolutely fine because you know what to expect. Comfy seats, quiet areas and great service.

Genuinely disturbing how awful the milkshake was. I would rather drink out of a puddle than drink here again. Coffee was average at best.

Great place to take some time out and chill with the family. All staff were really friendly and helpful. Environment was clean and temperature good.

Costa is Costa, where ever you go. At least you know what you're going to get. Good place to break for a coffee (or other costa tipple) when visiting the town.

Called in for a quick coffee whilst travelling from Midlands to the valleys. Service was very good even taking into account that it was lunchtime

Good coffee and cakes, quite busy, did not have trays as the lady I was with was unable to get the arms of her wheelchair under the table,, so in some respects it wasn't disabled friendly, perhaps a few wheelchair friendly tables or some trays to place on a wheelchair users lap rather than sitting 'side-saddle' and depending on someone to keep moving cups and plates into arms reach when the simple presence of a laptry would give independence and a more enjoyable experience.

I generally go into Costa for a coffee anywhere that I happen to be, and the Abergavenny outlet beats others for good working methods by the staff, clean premises and hot coffee. Being a people watcher, I tend to observe staff and can tell if the staff are being managed correctly, and my previous Costa experience was in Cardiff, and that was not a good experience, with flies on the cakes and staff not being helpful towards their customers, then to come to Abergavenny where everything works well and towards the customer. Friendly staff, being managed properly, really ensure that it is a memorable visit, and one to remember, well done.

Sorry. Staff friendly and Costa coffee is good BUT so noisy it is unbelievable! I don't know what it is about this shop as I don't experience it in any others. I think it's because the counter is in the narrowest part of the shop so the sound reverberates around the walls. Today I made the decision to make it my last visit as I find it too much. The beeping food alarms, the coffee machines, the stacking of crockery and the orders from staff... too loud... too much... especially for the price. Adios Costa Abergavenny... it was nice while it lasted.

Visiting Abergavenny recently and stopped by Costa. Seems relatively new. Very clean and staff very keen. Served quickly and coffee exactly as I like it!

We were in the lovely town of Abergavenny last weekend for the brilliant food fair, and we called in to Costa to have a sit for a while as it is a long day there.We ordered two lattes, one with coconut syrup. The service was good and friendly, and the coffees were great. Both were really rich and smooth. It was very busy in there as expected on this weekend, but the table lay-out was good and we had a good, relaxing sit down there.A very good Costa branch, and we would definitely call in again in future.

Visited while in Abergavenny. We used the costa app to collect points and is was not issue. We sat outside as it was a nice day and got served a white americano, fruit juice and vegetable crisps which came to £5. This allowed us to earn 25p of points and I hope to use Costa in the future. Staff were very friendly however my only fault was that the toilet could of being doing with a clean as toilet roll was all over the floor.

This is a lovely coffee shop where the quality of both coffee and cakes is always top notch. The staff are friendly and the ambience is perfect. We travel over twenty miles to visit this coffee shop once a week and are never disappointed. I would highly recommend it.

I arrived very early to be met by a very pleasant waitress who apologised for no toast but offered tea cake accompanied by hot chocolate. Although there early,I remained longer than I would usually, not a problem. Very clean establishment and many regular customers came in.I would definitely return...

I had time to kill while car being serviced so bought a paper and was looking forward to relaxing. Service was good. I was cold within 30 minutes which is not surprising as a couple of young mothers with push chairs came in and left the door wide open. No one took action to close it until I got up to do so. The twinings every day tea bag was very weak and even after 10 minutes brewing and stirring did not provide a nice cup of tea. But the noise was probably the worse. Initially testing smoke alarms which ok has to be done. But then the constant bleeping of the sandwich griddle is so annoying! Also it is just generally a noisy place.

We enjoyed a lovely coffee in this Costa, good value for money. Only off putting thing was the lady serving, far to loud when serving and when we were drinking our coffee. Spoilt the atmosphere a bit.

Costa Coffee is wonderful but pricey. I like the seats by the window and outside but there are too few. This coffee shop is in the middle of town so should be more open out to it. Inside further down into the shop it is enclosed as there are no windows and not for me. My kids love it but of course they would its all hot chocolate froth and chocolate brownies for them! The cakes and pastries aren't too bad in price, we like the toasties. Staff are much faster than at other Costas I've been to.

You normally know what your getting before you get through the door at most high street Costas but this one seems better. The staff today were friendly, polite and patient even when the lady in front of me was demanding that the water in her tea was above boiling point and would they confirm the temperature.It's not the biggest shop, but there is plenty of seating dotted about inside and out. Store appeared clean and tables were being constantly emptied and cleaned.Today I was served by Megan who did a great job on my coffee and was friendly and welcoming, something that is sometimes forgotten in chain coffee shops.Nice to have a chat with the baristas whilst your drink is being prepared.Overall not a bad experience.

Don't bother unless you have serious time on your hands. So many staff but none of them with any drive so although there are about 3 behind the counter and a further 2 or 3 just milling around the place wewere still waiting forever to be served. The tables were sticky and dirty, floor had food on and toilets were disgusting. Whole place needs a good scrub and staff need ditching or given a kick up the backside. Cakes stale, coffees lukewarm and we were given eye rolls when we asked for replacements for both. Always get the same poor service in any Costa I visit. Never again.

Positioned in the centre of town, this coffee shop provided the usual Costa coffee and food options. The staff were pleasant and chatty plus there was plenty of room to sit and relax with our drinks.

Yet another costa outlet that does not let the standards slip - small but with great coffee as usual.

Go in fairly often of a Saturday morning before work, the staff are always friendly and unlike some coffee shops with regulars make sure I actually want my usual before making it, engage with customers so there isn't an awkward silence whilst the customers wait. As for the bad reviews they must have gone into Costa during a lunchtime rush where complications are likely to occur understandably, work in a coffee shop myself and the costa staff do what is normally expected.

Really good, nice staff sometimes a but slow but a nice atmosphere. Can be busy at peak times as expected. Drinks that are either hot or cold are good and I have never had a bad experience there, some people are so critical and only ever complain! Such a shame.

I use Costa coffee quite a lot and their Cappuccinos rarely vary from branch to branch.Until today when i visited Abergavenny.No idea what staff are doing wrong,maybe the wrong milk.The coffee was watery and not thick and stick to the sides of the cup style.Not impressed with the coffee or the town centre.

Nice capucino and clean toilets, good place. They should have more staff so the dirty dishes are getting removed on time.

Lazy slow staff. Dirty location. Management needs to get a grip. Best you find somewhere else to go. Its not like Abergavenny is short of coffee shops.
