Costa Coffee. in East Hertfordshire

Just a joy to visit. Staff are so pleasant & helpful. As a little old lady I ask if someone can carry it over for me so I don't drop it & they always cheerfully oblige. There is always a bit of friendly banter as today I was told there would be a delivery charge! Please keep up the good work… you are so refreshing.

If I want a coffee when I'm out in welwyn garden city I always use this one. Never had to complain. Most staff members are friendly, attentive and efficient

I wasn’t asked for this review but thought I should give them a shout. I must say that the service in this Costa could not have been better. Such a nice welcome, very polite and good atmosphere . Wheelchair friendly - a good clean , bright Costa with good staff . Well done ! We will come again

Rude staff and poor customer service and tragically slow. Also switching off card payments at a whim to get cash only for some reason

I had such a great experience today! Lottie was my barista, and she made a fabulous white hot chocolate! So happy :)

Possibly the friendliest Costa I have ever been to. All staff acknowledged every customer. All tables were cleaned, constantly. Even the toilets were clean, which you never find!

Been here a few times now, always good service, today served by Kaz very friendly and welcoming, quick service, I would of given 5 stars but unfortunately where I was sitting which was near the food counter was a load of ants crawling all over the top and side and a couple on my table which is a little of putting. Hopefully they'll sort this out for the sake of hygiene

My regular take away, friendly staff and atmosphere

The man serving forgot to give us the cake we ordered with our food, he also forgot to put one of the drinks through and blamed us. We had to ask for the cake and plates, then when he gave us our toastie he put it in a take away box, he said we had asked to take out when in fact he had not asked us either way. We asked for the receipt to see if we had been charged for the drink but he was unable to show us.

I've been coming to this branch for years and it's always been a very good experience. Great customer service and dog friendly.

Very poor coffee for extortionate price

MUST DO BETTER. Service has gone right down hill. They're supposed to open at 7am. Here I am freezing my bits off at 7:30😒. The selection of available food is pretty poor also

Fantastic friendly manager Mo, always smiling and making his customers feel welcome, serving multiple customers in one go to make sure your not waiting too long. Top man 👍

The service was really slow and they took a while to make us the warm panini's. There was only 2 people behind the counter and a long queue. The food was ok and the drinks were nice. The only thing to be aware of is that the parking is free for 2 hours only.

Truly shocking - 10 or more people queuing for their drinks most had eaten hot food before they got drink - finally after 20 mins got my cold coffee frappe no straws so had to ‘eat’ with a spoon. Jokers never again.

Been there a few times, rarely over crowded so can generally get a seat and staff friendly. Best avoided on Sundays, staff who are there do their best but are too few in number, resulting in long waits and patchy service. As I said staff are doing their best, just not enough of them.

Coffee shop is one of the newer ones in Hertford. Coffee is fine and service quite quick . Tables cleared reasonable quickly

I have given this costa a few chances over the years and it never improves. There is 1 guy there and sadly I think he might be the franchise owner who is consistently rude and incompetent. He has serious issues in listening, taking an order and getting it right, let alone having any kind of customer service skills. The biggest joke is he spends alot of time berating his staff in front of customers while he is the one causing the problem. Even when there are no customers you end up waiting 15/20 minutes to get a drink which almost always is the wrong order, so durning some busy periods be prepared to lose 30/40 minutes on waiting for a coffee. Having given this place a number of chances I will no longer waste my money on sub par service and wrong drink orders. So many lovely places in town to get a better brew and worth the extra travel for it!

Over rated over priced and not nice coffee! My little local cafe in rockingham way does a far better cappucino for a lot less!

Located near the retail unit, normal and special seasonal Christmas fairs are available. On our visit, we were able to get a table. Only problem not enough employees working at the time of our visit had not wait more than you would expect.

Took a while to be acknowledged whilst no others in the queue, with 3 staff busy doing other things. Both drinks orders were wrong when arrived. Consistently poor Costa, not sure why I persevere at this one.

The poor staff were struggling with a lack of training and support. Understaffing is never a good thing!

Friendly but a little chaotic service and overrun with buggies but if you just need a takeaway coffee then it's great - as long as you accept the 15 minute wait for your drink,!

Dreadful, probably the worst Costa in the country. Terrible service, always get the order wrong and take ages to prepare drinks, the biggest problem is that they continue to take orders whilst not making the drinks that have already been ordered. Seems understaffed, only two people working at a time, needs at least four to keep on top of everything, as a result the store ends up in a complete mess.

Well it took 5 mins to have my order taken. When I asked about the new mango bubble frappe. They said no haven't got the mango frappe would do the cooler version instead. Then it took more than 8 mins for the drinks to be made. The guy who took the order was making the order but kept asking what was ordered. Which I thought was simple as Salted Caramel Coffee Frappe no cream but with caramel pieces on top, mango cooler (took the longest to make) and peach hibiscus ice tea. Was disappointed with this store.

This is about Costa in Hertford near wickes and Matalan. Poor service no frappes or proper cups. Actually felt sorry for staff who were polite and trying but didn't seem to know where things were and presume they must be new. Went to this Costa a couple of months ago and unfortunately they haven't improved at all I won't bother going again. They need a decent manager to turn things round like the Costa in ware where they are well organised and efficient.

Customer service was fine and place looked clean but the drinks we just had were revolting. Ordered two ice mocha one was decaff. Both tasted watery and bitter and the decaff one had no coffee flavour to it. Incredibly disappointed onsidering how expensive they were.

It was the worst service I have ever had at a Costa, it took 15min to place the order because the voucher didn't have a QR code and then I was kept waiting for over 20min after i had paid for my order and they still got it wrong. Will not be going there again.

15 minute wait for coffee, staff then did it in takeaway cup accidentally. Before I had a chance to stop them they had thrown my flatwhite into a mug, rendering it a latte. Not busy at time and 3 members of staff working, so unsure why the wait or the shoddy service. I never normally sit in with my coffee and never normally come to this Costa. And that's the way it will stay 👎

Welcome to the worst Costa in the UK. Always a dreadful experience where a coffee seems to take an age to get. We have been there when they’ve had no milk, no card payments, no coffee beans, and no staff. The latest debacle was a really rude member of staff pointing at a person standing in the queue stating they were the last to be served - leaving those behind questioning why, given it was only 16:30 and it was supposed to be open until 17:00. She exclaimed loudly she was the only person working (she wasn’t) and therefore wanted to shut early. This was a Saturday afternoon in early June and people had been in the queue for 10 minutes already. Dreadful service - we will never return. The staff are woefully incompetent - they panic over an order of more than one coffee at a time. Heavens forbid they were to work at a shop in London or somewhere similar, they would capitulate under the pressure. I will never use a Costa again thanks to this pitiful excuse for a shop. Good work Costa.

Arrived to meet friends for a coffee to be told sorry we are closing at 16.15? It says on the door open till 17.30. Lady explained it’s due to staff shortages. Very disappointing. I believe this has been going on for some time now speaking to others?!

Management really need to sort out this coffee shop! It’s regularly understaffed and the staff they have are incompetent! Always a long queue and frequent problems such as the dishwasher not working and one morning last week they had no coffee beans! Not good enough

Long long wait for service only two ladies serving coffee not hot when served Dirty tray and teaspoons had to refuse them so they changed the spoons Won't be going back this was the second time we went there and service just as bad as the first time.They need help two people not enough .Let's Costa down .

Expensive poor service coffee very bitter

Nice little Costa, as usual just what you'd expect. Indoor and outdoor seating, the usual good standard of food and drink yesterday. Service was mediocre but it looked to me like they were training new people so I think given time that will probably improve. Situated in a small retail park with parking (although it was very busy for a Wednesday at 2pm)

Costa Coffee Hertford is very nice plenty of light coming into the Costa Coffee. Good place to meet friends or family or just to get away and have a read or just relax and unwind. Staff very friendly and good service. It is located on a site in Hertford where there is a Matalan, Pets at home, Wickes, Merjestic Wine and then the Costa Coffee. Parking is 2 Hours free parking but there are parking rules are displayed on the signs located around the car park and as you enter the car park there are 2 cameras one as you drive in so it knows when you got there and one as you drive out so it knows when you have left but you can only stay the maximum hours that is displayed and stated on the parking signs.

Covid friendly and plenty of space. Staff are helpful and work hard but at the end of the day its Costa...and there are better independent cafes in ware.

I waited half an hour from the order for 4 drinks. It was the longest service I have ever had in Costa. Very disappointed.

Lovley coffee, friendly staff but the manager keeps barking orders loudly, makes for an unpleasant experience. Especially for the poor staff :(

Disappointingly slow service as pretty much only member of staff both taking orders and making the drinks. Only had a couple of minutes to enjoy our drinks as had to wait 22 minutes for our order and we needed to be at an appointment.

The two barristas didn't know what they were doing. Easily flustered. I ordered a small Ruby chocolate frostino and it was so bland. There was also quite a wait even though it wasn't busy when we got there.

Ruby and hot chocolate were quite bland in flavour. Can't complain really for 50p but not sure at full price. Workers were doing great with all the customers waiting etc.

Helpful staff and well made drinks

Lovely staff here but it would be good if they sorted out the signage on the entrance door please.The left door has the word PUSH on it. But that door is locked. You enter through the right door. I know that could sound pedantic.......and yeah lol I guess it is!

I liked the vegan risotto however the hot chocolate wasn't vegan so couldn't have it.

Previous visit was better when I rated it 3 stars, we ended up going elsewhere this time, the table arrangement for seating is not very well thought out, they could easily allow more seating and still have social distancing if organised a little better. Staff miserable and not very helpful.

This visit was a bit shambolic compared to others in the past. The service was a bit slow and the knowledge of the promotion was inadequate. Our table had food debris from a previous customer (fortunately I had surface wipes) and the coffee was mediocre. Hopefully our next visit will be better.

Cups too big. A medium coffee is huge, in keeping with everything else that comes over from America! And SO strong. Why do you assume that everyone wants a huge cup whatever happened to a normal size cup Same with tea. Both drinks get cold really quickly too.

Table service is poor manager treats staff like robots wouldn’t recommend

Nikki gave exceptional customer service. The whole cafe was beautifully clean and followed social distancing very well.

There is a limit space where you can sit. They haven't set it up very well. There's probably 4-5 tables

Love this costa perfect stop between meetings.

Pretty average chain coffee shop...which often gets busy at peak times and the staff often appear overwhelmed with the service particularly slow. If you catch it at the right time it is nonetoobad.

Enjoyable experience, queues not too bad. Served by a very pleasant blonde lady Izzy who made a miserable morning very cheerful. Will definitely be returning.

This Costa has the worst service I have ever had the queue was long this shop is used by people rather than the one in the town so people can avoid paying for parking but it doesn't have the staff or managed to cope.

Awfull place. Barista tried his best but colleague was as miserable as sin. They seem to go through staff regularly. Floors filthy inc toilets. Management need to look hard and long at themselves as people don't like working there

Waited 15 min for a coffee only two people in front of me ,staff hanging around out the back doing nothing just chatting and only one serving .

The coffee is good, the service isn't.
