Service here is always lovely, food can be hit or miss, unfortunately. Mostly it's good, occasionally not so.

We had a very enjoyable evening meal, pre a show, great service and the food was fabulous. It was very busy

Pizzas were lovely and waitresses were brilliant. Took my Granddaughter and her friend for a birthday treat. They had a lovely time, they said the Ice cream sundaes were amazing. Service was really good.

Charged £4.95 when asking for water, crazy because an actual drink would be cheaper. It's a shame, the restaurant had really nice pizza and really nice staff, but it doesn't feel pleasant being charged for basic amenities. I wouldn't mind paying more for pizza instead but to have an extra £5 sneaked into a bill leaves you with a bad experience.

A great meal as always. We were served by Anita who was great, so lovely and good fun!

My daughter and I went after her dance lesson. Really enjoyed it.

It took a long time for our server to come and get our dessert order. there were three servers just 2 meters away from us but none of there looked up to see us trying to get their attention. There was only one other table being served. So the servers weren't busy. Just not paying attention. The food. it was a real disappointment, overpriced and nothing exceptional about the taste or flavour warranting the hype. We ordered two pizzas for three of us. A Smokey BBQ Chicken and Sloppy Giuseppe. They were priced around £17 each. We have never been so disappointed. There were literally 4 visible pieces of chicken and a few strands here and there. so much so that every slice did not have chicken on it. Both pizzas had very poor topping. hardly any cheese. The pizza is nowhere close to what is shown on the menu. In all honesty, ASDA and Tesco have better pizzas. In my opinion we are only paying for the restaurant experience (table chair and room). Have a meal before visiting Pizza Express or be ready to have one after. because their pizza is such a disappointment in quantity and quality.

Such personable service as always, food was perfect. The staff here are always here to please and do their best. Another amazing meal and really grateful as know how busy they were tonight, thank you so much.

Popped in on the evening of the Hertford music festival so expected it to be busy. The staff told us that they were very busy, it was packed, and that food may take up to 40 minutes. We decided to stay and ordered. Drinks arrived within minutes and food took around 30 minutes which was absolutely fine. The staff were very helpful and pleasant although they were getting a lot of abuse from customers as food was taking longer than usual. I’m pretty sure that these customers would have been told food would take longer than usual because of how busy they were but the staff were doing their best. Overall it was excellent and we informed the staff of how grateful we were for their effort to which they seemed over the moon due to all the complaints, which in my view were uncalled for.

Went to the Hertford restaurant today and was served by the lovely Nicole who was very experienced and offered great recommendations. The food was lovely, arrived quickly and very reasonable. Highly recommended.

It was a lovely evening so we sat outside. Eight of us all together - six adults and two children. Generally, the service was super friendly and did an amazing job of correctly remembering our orders! Unfortunately, the time in between waiting to order, ordering and food was longer than we'd have liked but I suspect they were busier than they planned with staff members, that night. I have the P.E. App and could see on the menu that there was a 3 course offer for those with the app. As I was ordering, we thought that was great. Unfortunately, it only allowed ONE of the six of us to have the offer, which we found incredibly misleading and think that the wording on the app and menu should be much, much clearer, as it did not state that it was only available for a singular person - imagine if all six of us ordered separately on an app! The time it would take and the stress it would cause staff and customers! Nuts.

We have been coming here for years and it is a wonderful example of the Pizza Express chain. Lovely people and excellent chefs plus the outside space is just right. This review is for collection ordered via the app. There are some things you cannot do on the app - such as adding anchovies, removing mozzarella from garlic bread and order Olives. The manager at Pizza Express Hertford always fixes these issues for me with the minimum fuss and a minimum smile. Sometimes at restaurants things always seem to be a bother but not her and not this manager. We will always come back - customer service above and beyond - thank you so much!

Not visited before. Nice friendly staff, food overall pretty good and service efficient. Majors on pizza (obviously), not our favourite Italian option we are more pasta people. Having said that that the chicken escalope was delicious and a good portion. Bit on the pricey side but what isn’t these days. Overall would recommend.

Located in the heart of Hertford, a less than 2 minute walk from the multi storey car park Staff are really friendly and attentive, even when very busy.

Still good! The new "Romana" thin crust pizza's are truly excellent, tasty, and well stacked. I really enjoyed the "Spicy Guiseppe"! Good service, nice ambience. Looking forward to sitting under the tarapaulin cover outside in the courtyard, on a warmer day perhaps!

Last minute decision to take young grandchildren for a meal. The food was very good and the children's meal is excellent value. We all thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The service was very good. Hadn't visited Pizza Express for a while, but will definitely be returning soon.

I visited for an early dinner with my baby and friend, the staff were friendly and we were seated quickly with no booking (the restaurant was empty) I ordered the Leggera pizza which I have had before granted it was years ago but I couldn’t believe how the portion size had changed. I would say the pizza was smaller than a dinner plate in diameter and 2 inches wide so once cut we’re bite size pieces with some salad leaves in the middle drenched in salad dressing no onion or tomato in the salad just the leaves. Very disappointing considering the price increase.

I’m sure this place is much better on a quiet night. But it was chaotic, tables way too close together and traffic was not organised around the tables. The server Luke was rude and ignored us for ages and generally didn’t seem to know what he was doing. In contrast, the tall girl with the black pony tail was very sweet and got shouted at by the manager a lot which I didn’t think was fair. Food was good though (when it finally arrived), it was the drinks that took a fortnight to arrive.

We just ordered a delivery takeaway to our home and it was utterly delicious. We ordered the Christmas bundle on Uber eats: Dough Balls and ROMANA Garlic Prawn pizza. Presented very well and the pizza was excellent 👌. 10/10. Thank you. 😊

I was served by a kat on a little date night with my partner all staff were welcoming and friendly the food was prompt and delicious.

Dined last Saturday evening in Hertford prior to a show. Ordered Lasagne and when served it was freezing cold at the bottom. The waitress asked me to choose another Main from the menu and said it would be on the house. Absolutely the right thing to do, not her fault I know but the chef should take responsibility and not send out food that hasn't defrosted. Whilst dining, the tables either side both had cutlery, food, serviettes and pens on the floor. Both were left in a mess for at least an hour without attention or notice from approx 5 staff members walking by 2 or 3 times. To cap it all, the manageress seated 2 families at each table, still leaving the mess on the floor. The restaurant was utter chaos the whole time we were there and the management and staff appeared not to be in control or attempting to put things in order. The worst Pizza Express I've visited and the worst experience I've had in any restaurant. Serious training issues to address if to deliver an acceptable standard of customer service.

Just ordered on Uber eats, the saddest looking pizza I’ve ever seen. Arrived cold and undercooked. Not sure if you can tell from the photo but it was just raw dough in the middle. Maybe just an off day but disappointing!

The problem is our kids love pizza, the challenge with this restaurant is the wait times. It’s so hit and miss, tonight we waited 40 mins for any food (starters, mains, kids meals) and then it all came at once. I became impatient as an adult, the kids were beyond their limits. There’s just no excuse you can’t get a plate of kids dough balls out any earlier than 40 mins. Thoroughly cheesed off by this point we found not 1 but 2 hairs in the kids ice cream. Annoyingly ruined what should have been a lovely family meal.

Rude man behind the counter in a cycling hat and moody waitress!! Me my wife and my daughter wanted to eat here for lunch. Were was hardly any customers in there at the time. We waited to be seated but after a few mins noone came so we sat outside the man in the cycling hat then said rudly to my pregnant wife why are you outside there is no service outside. I wouldn't have minded being told this but the almost aggressive tone was unacceptable. I guess walking 10ft out the door was just too much for these pair of rude people. I will never set foot in this establishment again

About what you expect with Pizza Express: decent food, friendly staff. No exceptions here, although it can get noisy if lots of families with young kids are visiting. Also, my chair was on a weird floorboard, so whenever someone walked by I had a weird thump below me. All nice, besides that!

As with most restaurants they are more concerned in making money than worrying about their paying clientele

Nice enough food but prices have gone up more than other restaurants. Venue could do with a makeover. Update: June '23 Prices rising still and although nice enough, there are other restaurants that are better and cheaper. Still good for kids and families though.

Went for a date night tonight, and it was perfect. The food was cooked to perfection. My partner is really fussy and said the calzone was the best he had ever had, and so was the roulade for desert. The waitress was also very lovely and helpful

We went there today for a family lunch and we were not disappointed fabulous food and our waitress Amelia really looked after us, nothing was too much trouble!

Restaurant was really busy and they couldn't keep up with the demand of food, forgot 2 of our pizzas we ordered and our extra side we ordered, had to always ask for drinks, tables rammed in so over crowded nearly sitting on top of people, and the view out of the back window is of the over flowing rubbish bins.

With an almost empty house at 5:30 pm we were offered the table by the door or the second by the door 👎 45 minutes after we enter, I'm still waiting for my pizza... the starters were gonna 10 minutes ago.... not so "EXPRESS" after all.

Was really looking forward to mothers day with family started off ok polite staff then when order taken it all went down hill, 2 pizzas forgotten so by the time they arrived everyone else had finished, and they left something off order. Clearly over booked them selves and couldn't cope.

My original review was 4 stars a few years ago. I went with my family and the experience was not good. From the moment we arrived it was a poor customer experience. The manager was running front of house, the kitchen and the deliveroo station. Rather than overseeing, the manager was constantly fighting fires. Two customers already being served or finishing complained to the manager about service or quality of the food before we were seated. The manager was not delegating and staff were wondering around whilst he was simply ruia broken ship. When we eventually got to a table, which was 25 minutes after arriving having booked a table a week earlier, the quality of the food was not good. The waiting staff that attended were very good and went some way to making the experience better. But we will not be returning. This restaurant is broken. The manager needs to delegate and they need to split the delivery and dine in processes.

We came without booking and even if it was busy the nice Italian manager find a spot for us. He warned that the service could be slower than usual however we thought it was reasonably fast. The service was attentive and the food amazing, definitely we will come back. Thanks Maurisio.

I visited on Wednesday at around 4pm with 2 others. Amazing hospitality from our server who I believe was the assistant manager. Service was quick and food was wonderful.

Exactly what I was looking for! After an exhausting week I wanted to be exceptionally lazy, and Pizza Express didn't disappoint! Great food, relaxing venue and fantastic service. 5 stars all round. Special recognition to my server in particular for her positive attitude and outstanding service.

I love coming here, the food is consistent and delicious and the menu varied. Chloe in particular is always smiling, busy helping customers and going the extra mile. She even distracted our little ones long enough that we could shove a slice of pizza in!

This restaurant was faced with an entire symphony orchestra arriving unannounced and expecting to be served. Quickly. And the team here did just that, and got us all out in time to get dressed and warmed up for our concert in All Saints Church. Well done, that's what I call can-do customer service. Food was good too!!

Fabulous options, reasonably priced in my opinion. We came for a late lunch at around 3:45pm and it was not busy. The atmosphere was cosy, there was good music and we were warm.

Service was a bit slower this time round. The restaurant was clearly busy but the wait for food was really long. There was a lot of running around going on by the manager and I'm guessing they were really short staffed. When we did get the food it was good. It won't stop us coming again. All restaurants are struggling like this at the moment.

Ordered from deliveroo, which arrived an hour and a half after the driver picked it up, 2 items missing and the rest was stone cold. Phoned the restaurant and spoke to(an admittedly friendly) female manager to be told basically its not their problem and I'd need to contact deliveroo, who were equally dismissive. Poor service indeed from 2 large companies

Awful service from the moment we walked in. Served by the female manager, we sat and wait for 1h 20mins and our food did not come when I asked what’s going on after 40mins the waitress said she would check and nothing ! After 1h:20mins I went to the front asked and the pizza was prepared un cooked on a rack ! I wanted to know why it was prepared but not cooked but the female Mgn refused to answer my very direct question, we left the restaurant along with 3 other table whom where in the same position and the staff just looked at the floor as if nothing had happened I guess with embarrassment! Oh and the restaurant was not even full !!

Wow, not many reviews are worthy of such a great intro, but we were truly bowled over by the wonderful lunch we had at Pizza Express in Hertford today. We were greeted by a friendly bubbly manager who seated us where we asked and saw to our every need. We explained we had a terrible meal at another branch last week and thought we would see if this branch was better and with that we were treated like royalty. The chefs were outstanding, the food was amazing, and tasted sublime, the waitress Sophie was so helpful and efficient we couldn't have asked for better service. The restaurant manager came to speak to us to make sure our food was ok and the shift manager saw to our every need. We will be coming back again very soon and am so glad we choose to go here for lunch and will be telling everyone to do the same. 5 stars is all we can give but this store deserves more. Thank you to all the staff for making our lunchtime treat so special.

Always great pizzas. First time at the Hertford branch. Only hiccup was that a neighbouring table used the pay online feature and paid for our meal, so when we went to pay online it kept returning errors. Not a big deal, still ended up paying my bill just a while to figure this out and get someone's attention to pay in person instead.

Ordered for a takeaway. Got there to collect. Showed order number. The app or website wasnt showing what I ordered, but surely they had recieved the order matching to the number. After a loooong time they figured out our order. We waited for 30 mins for 1 pizza and a premade cake slice to be ready and they bought it to us on a plate when it was a takeaway order. They went back and repacked it. No apology, nothing. Pizza express pizzas are good in general, just not this branch.

Service was good until it came to paying the bill as there till was playing up and it took 30 minutes for them to fix it.

Food was nice but one Staff member was noticiably overworked, namely, front of house who had to look after the rear portion of the restaurant and outdoors singlehandedly on a busy Friday night.

We booked a table for 12, we had been a number of times previously and always experienced a great meal and atmosphere. Sadly today was different, not sure if staff are underpaid, worked too hard or just not enjoying working there. Welcome was zero, service quite slow and all the staff looked miserable, the only smile on offer was when I asked the waitress if she would be glad to finish her shift, said it all. The food is fantastic and we will visit again in the hope that the ambiance has improved. Thank you.

Upon entering I noticed the restaurants busyness however staff were light on their feet to approach and help! Especially a ginger waitress who made me feel paramount and overall completely improved my experience. The "pollo pesto" I went for was unreal however someone could do with putting a knife to the onions as they're ridiculously long. Overall, a pleasant meal to say the least.

Not great at all. Took to long to take order. Then when a very LONG time later our food arrived my dish was wrong. She took it away and said sorry then another 20 plus minutes later I had to ask where my food was. My partner was waiting to eat with me so his dish went cold. I was told they are under staffed which I find hard to believe when lots of them was standing around. I got my dish back and all they did was throw on some prawns and put it back in the pizza oven. Not happy and no form of apology at all. Just to be told there was nothing she could do about it

Attended with the family for dinner, pre booking a table for 4pm on a Tuesday. Restaurant was not busy but staff were attentive. We were directed to use the mobile app to benefit from offers which was very helpful. Food came together and was well presented. Would recommend.

Hello my name kazi. When I say I could cry, i mean it in the best way possible. about 3 years ago i got sinusitis which turned chronic and i've struggled ever since. I am asthmatic and have terrible indoor and outdoor allergies. i have accepted many times that i would just be sick forever. Until I got this product. I was super reluctant at first due to the price. but i realised how much i spent on nasal sprays, allergy meds, saline spray, so i said screw it and bought it. I'm three days in and i honestly have never felt better. My sleep has improved entirely. i can smell pizza from a mile away. i can taste again! I also don't have pressure and headaches from the buildup in my sinus cavities. as i write this, i have tears in my eyes because i am so thankful. i wish i tried it sooner. THANK YOU Kazi
