Really bad food, seems they use expired products or frozen ones. Dirty restaurant and bad smell. You get overcharged for no reason, seems this is regular practice from other reviews here.

Friendly and helpful staff. Generously-sized portions. Just be aware they don't close very late

I’ve ate at a lot of Italian places and this was the best! The food tasted homemade and was reasonably priced. Don’t skip on the biscottis for dessert. Absolutely delicious!!

Beautiful food and excellent service. Even when I booked a table by phone the gentleman who I spoke to was very helpful and kind then was greeted kindly when we arrived. I was offered a new style of moretti they had and they swayed me to have it and it was a great choice. Overall a great experience.

I am of Italian lineage, good pasta is very important to me. I recommend it, the pastas and sauces are excellent and the selection of wines as well .

I have eaten regularly at Cosmoba, a discrete restaurant offering fine Italian food, for over ten years. The food is absolutely excellent, and there is a good choice of Italian cuisine. Some of my friends, who live in Italy say "the food is better than many a restaurant in Italy!" The staff are very friendly and like family - you and your guests are always made to feel most welcome..

Poor quality food, mediocre service, expensive service charge. Felt sorry for them since they were empty - but no surprise really!

A little gem near Russell square

Thoroughly awful experience… we booked for lunch at this restaurant in the knowledge that they closed at 1430. We arrived at 1300 as arranged. I asked for a dish of olives and some bread to nibble while we waited for main courses. The olives were a soggy mess and the bread as small ciabata roll split toasted and drenched in bitter garlic butter. Main courses were classic chicken escalope with vegetables and a lasagne. The lasagne was ancient, the vegetables were canned green beans and the escalopes were burnt at the edges. At 1355 we asked for desserts but were be told that only ice cream and tiramisu were available because the kitchen was closed and the chef (chef?) had gone home once our main courses had been served. A further insult was to see a 15% service charge on the bill. The sooner this place closes down the better

Visited Cosmoba twice in a month after a long break due to covid and not being in the area. We were surprised to find the menu had much less choice than in the past. On the first visit we enjoyed pizza and pasta dishes which were very good. On the next visit we had saltimbocca and chicken Milanese with potatoes and vegetables which were disappointing. The wine was good and reasonably priced. The waiter and the chef seemed quite grumpy but Umberto was as charming as ever. The evenings we dined there the restaurant wasn't as busy as it used to be.

Definitely my favourite Italian restaurant in London. Simple traditional authentic Italian food and drink in plain surroundings with friendly staff. Great quality and value. Wonderful zabaglione.

We were happy to find this wee restaurant serving freshly made trad Italian food - not flashy, but tasty. I liked the old-fashioned wabi-sabi décor. Staff friendly. Relaxed. My portion of saltimbocca was generous.

Visited this restaurant 6 years ago and following a show nearby, decided to head here to see if it was still up to the standard we remembered. It certainly was! Arriving around 5 pm, we were the only customers so did receive a warmer welcome than those who were arriving an hour or so later. The empty restaurant was now full ant the two staff were rushed off their feet but to be fair, the service and customer interaction still continued at a high level. We had a couple of starters (Arcini and mixed olives) with mains of Chicken Carbonara, lasagne and Milanese Chicken, all of which were excellent. Basic Italian food with no airs or graces served well and tasting even better. A like gem in an otherwise bustling city and clearly a favourite of many regulars. Add 3 large glasses of wine, a Tiramassu and couple of Cointreau coffees (which were excellent) the bill of £65 (which included a gratuity) was excellent value for money. Certainly hope it won't be 6 years before we return.

My husband and I came across this spot last week. We were promptly seated inside and enjoyed our dinner. The owner and waiter worked very hard to serve and were helpful with suggestions. We ordered garlic bread, a small salad and my husband enjoyed the pasta with prawns while I had the eggplant parmesan. People around us were enjoying pizzas and they looked very appealing. Had we had a chance to return we might have enjoyed a pizza as well.

Het eten was lekker, maar niet zo heel erg warm. Ik had de lasagne en die was hier en daar niet zo warm... het voelde een beetje als niet goed opgewarmd.. Smaak was erg goed en het eten van mijn tafelgenote was erg lekker. En de Bruschetta en Arrancini waren heerlijk!

Giovedì 20 luglio io e mio marito abbiamo cenato in questo ristorante per la nostra seconda serata a Londra. Ovviamente non conoscendolo lo abbiamo scelto solo per la vicinanza al nostro albergo e perché c' era scritto cucina italiana. Ci siamo trovati così bene che siamo tornati anche le due sere successive, il venerdì 21 luglio ed il sabato 22 luglio. Tornammo anche la domenica sera ed il lunedì sera purtroppo però trovammo chiuso. Locale piccolo ma accogliente, carino,pulito, dehor esterno. Il proprietario è italo inglese ed è una persona simpatica, cortese, che sa mettere il cliente a proprio agio. Anche il cameriere ed il cuoco sono molto gentili. Molto frequentato, accetta prenotazioni ma accoglie anche i clienti come noi che arrivano all' improvviso. Accetta pagamento bancomat. Non sono riuscita a pagare con la carta prepagata. Menù alla carta molto vasto, prezzi nella norma. Ottima pizza, buono prosciutto e melone, buono e ben servito il gelato, la pasta al tonno buona solo un pò troppo cotta, buone le zucchine fritte, un solo consiglio scolate meglio l' olio perché meno unte sono più buone e più croccanti , e niente prezzemolo sopra che proprio non c' entra nulla. Grazie per avermi fatta sentire un pò meno lontana da casa!!!! Lo consiglio a tutti.

Recommend this place 100% if you want a great Italian meal with out all the pomp . Really good people and service. Very rare that find Zabaione on any Italian menu 👍

After eating at a lot of pubs in London we came across this gem of a restaurant. Authentic Italian and the food was divine. The owner, Umberto, was ever so accommodating for anything we needed. Will definitely come back here next time we’re in London

We both loved the pasta, nice little restaurant. Unfortunately our experience was soured when we went to pay the bill. Tried to overcharge us for the wine by £4 AND charged a 15% service charge for the 1 waiter (£10) ... restaurant was not busy. Nothing on the menu about a service charge ... feel a bit ripped off 😡

Busy place we were told in advance that there might be a bit of await for our food, however, the wait was not long at all. My husband knocked his wine over and the waiter cleaned the table quickly and gave him another red wine as a replacement which we didn’t expect. Food was good and the staff friendly.

Absolutely stunning food and excellent service

If you read this, please do not come here. Even if you are desperately hungry, go seek somewhere else or just make instant noodles at home. I should have read reviews prior to my visit. These guys are clearly closing down their business. Waiters are unwelcoming and rude. Plates are super filthy with stains of cheese and oil. Food is absolute garbage. Pastas are watery. They definitely use supermarket pasta noodles. Their pasta can be made better by anyone at home. Lastly, they put 15% service charge without notice. I don’t mind paying tip as I visit from NY so I asked why they charge so much and the answer was because only one waiter was taking care of the entire restaurant. But they also ask people to be patient because only one waiter is working. Absolutely ridiculous. They should not be operating anymore and I can clearly see that they just want to close it down any day soon.

This is a lovely little family run restaurant. I have eaten here a number of times, and the food has always been delicious. Our visit last week was no exception. I can recommend the tagliatelle ragu.

Nice enough food but very rude server. We ordered a starter and main but as we were ordering the waiter got distracted by another waiter asking him a question and never asked if that completed our order or if we wanted to order anything else. As soon as he turned back around we asked if we could also order a side - to which we were told no the order has already been given to the kitchen. We thought he was joking but no side ever showed up. My brother was running the London marathon the next day so could have done with the extra carbs!

Unwelcoming and uncomfortable. The calamari was hard and rubbery. Saltimbocca tough and dry. Vegetables cold. BUT the fish was large and nicely cooked. Only one waiter and one chef working. Perhaps the friendly and professional members of staff had taken a day off.

A traditional Italian that has stayed consistent for years. It's not the same as some of the more modern vibrant places but you get exactly what you want at a fair price. A little cold inside but so are many places at the moment.

My family and I visited Cosmoba for a birthday and it was everything we had hoped for and more! The service was delightful and the food was amazing. There were great choices for the children and the wine selection was incredible. Hats off to the owner, Umberto, who was super friendly and overall just extremely welcoming. We spoke for a while about the wine and his knowledge was really impressive. Will definitely be coming back very very soon!

Not a great experience… panzanella was fizzy.. garlic bread was a pannini roll with loads of cheese on. Main course both dishes with pancetta and onions in were sour Dessert.. tirimasu .. white sponge? No coffee .. not bad taste but not what expected At £250 for five of us I expected better

Still our favourite Italian restaurant in London! We love coming back here to have an authentic experience and enjoy homemade comforting Italian food. The staff are always friendly and very welcoming! The owner Umberto is the most humble restaurant owner ever and loves having chats about Italy! I can’t stop thinking about how good that pasta was. I ordered the carbonara (with no cream of course) and my friend has their usual of chicken Milanese with spaghetti which I’m always jealous of because it smells and look amazing! Perfect spot to just chill and enjoy some good quality food! They also do great wines for those interested in having some more niche Italian finds!

TERRIBLE PLACE. £85 for a bottle of wine and 2 main meals that we didn’t eat. Staff showed no interest in untouched meals. AVOID, M&S meals 100 times better !!!

Food was average at best, pizza and pasta was priced reasonably, starters and other dishes were on the pricey side and I could have made better at home without trying. Service was nothing to shoot about. They automatically added a 15% service charge. I don't mind paying a tip and very often do, and regularly more than 15% when it is good service, but adding that much on is a bit of a liberty. We questioned this and that really put their nose out.

My goodness, I dashed into Cosmoba, whilst my son was in GOSH. I just wanted something quick that I could take away with me. The marvellous team took control and made the most delicious gnocchi which I was able to take back to the hospital. Thank you so much gentlemen, you were a ray of sunshine on a difficult day!

Warm and friendly. Get the olives. Lasagna was great! Wish I had two stomachs because the pizza looked fabulous.

I booked in with my family group of 6 a week last Saturday evening. We enjoyed a fabulous menu cooked to perfection along with suggested wine. The prices are very reasonable for London and this is a great family run restaurant in a tucked away location that provides a relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and good fresh food. A favourite every time I get to visit London to meet family, friends or for business hospitality when the rare occasion arises. I so pleased they made it the other Covid restrictions.

Small, traditional Italian restaurant in a great location; on a quiet side street between a couple of lovely pubs. I came here on my own as I wanted a relatively quick meal but not ‘fast food’. Thankfully I wasn’t disappointed; most definitely quality food in a nice environment. My prosciutto and rucola pizza was very good, as was the house red wine. Service was also efficient and friendly. I will most definitely return, but next time with friends.

Warm, friendly service. I dined solo and had the carbonara, which was perfect! And the house wine which went with it really well. It's such a nice and wholesome place, unpretentious (which is getting harder hard to come by!) and lovely atmosphere. I saw a regular come in and how the staff treated her and talked about her after, you can tell they really value their customers. Can't wait to return, and will definitely bring more people along next time!

Very pleasant owner and cosy venue but food was not great. My sisters food was cold and had to be reheated. My broccoli was limp and my cod dish was unremarkable. Our waiter didn't say a word which seemed odd. After a discussion about the importance of carefully preparing food to take account of allergies (which arose because of my sisters fruit allergies) her carefully selected drink was found to contain a slice of lemon. In fairness we should have raised this and at least asked for the service charge to be removed but we were very tired after a long day travelling and didn't want to make a fuss, as the owner was very friendly.

Worst dinner ever! The salad was all old and wilted, the green beans and spinach still frozen and the ciabatta all stale and cold! Such a shame I had great hope! Never again!

I didnt actually eat here but the guys who clearly work there thought they could make ridiculous chicken noises at me, not sure why, but clearly they found it funny. Just what i needed on my way to the hospital. Hence the 1star review. Cheers mother cluckers. 🐓's

Found this Italian restaurant while visiting Spinks Auction house. Although it was lunch time, we were welcomed and provided a table for 3. Prompt, attentive service, great tasting food and the perfect service from the waiter. I'd definitely eat there again. Lasagne, Pizza and Carbanara were delicious. Don't walk by, like we nearly did.

This little gem of a restaurant tucked away from the bustling west end in great surroundings has been a go to for myself and family for a few years now, Umberto and his small team are welcoming and cheery, the food is always good and highly recommend the Ragu, and a great selection of wine available as well , we was a bit concerned that after lockdown like so many restaurants that Cosmoba would not open its doors again but we were delighted when they popped up on our Facebook page so if your looking for a little bit of Italy do visit it’s worth it

I have been to this restaurant on many occasions with family. I have always had a good meal in a pleasant surroundings and with great service. I was concerned that the owners would not be able to reopen after the Covid restrictions were relaxed but to my pleasant surprise it did. A change in the menu but no complaints from me or my wife. Please try it out as I’m sure you will agree.

It's probably 40 years ago that I found this place and 20 plus since I visited, can still taste with fondness the spaghetti vongole, washed down with a jug of red, visited while on business alone always made welcome and even sat with the owner to eat,If its half as good it will be great

Excelente variedad de comidas (incluidas verduras) y bebidas, tamaños de porciones perfectos, excelente relación calidad-precio (especialmente en el centro de Londres, a 5 minutos a pie del Museo Británico) y, particularmente en los tiempos actuales, todo en un hogar familiar, bellamente decorado , espacio socialmente distanciado. No he visto ni probado auténtica cocina italiana como esta en ningún otro lugar de Londres.Sin duda volveremos a visitar.

Tuve un delicioso almuerzo aquí en una de las mesas al aire libre (Covid 19). La comida era excelente, especialmente el plato de pasta de gambas. Gran servicio amable, buena higiene. El cargo por servicio se agregó a la factura, pero la comida tenía una buena relación calidad-precio, si las bebidas eran un poco caras. Sin embargo, este es el centro de Londres, por lo que los precios siempre serán un poco más altos ya que los costos comerciales son mucho más altos.Suscriptor del esquema del Gobierno para restaurantes durante agosto de 2020, ¡así que la comida fue una ganga! Nos detuvimos en Cosmoba en nuestra primera noche en Londres. Fue compra, pero nos sentamos enseguida. Nuestro anfitrión y servidor fueron muy amables y serviciales sin platos. Pedimos vino de una lista bastante buena y elegimos Ravioli de ternera, un plato de ternera y un plato tipo saltimbocca. La comida era excelente, el lugar, bastante pequeño, pero ocupado y tiene una sala de fiesta en la parte de atrás. Nuestro servidor estaba encantado de que pedimos grappa e incluso rellenamos nuestros vasos. Fue una gran comida y una gran experiencia. En nuestro segundo viaje tuvimos una pizza y una lasaña. Ambos excelentes. Nuestro servidor anterior repitió la segunda grappa cada uno cuando terminamos nuestra comida. Definitivamente volvería otra vez en otro viaje al West End.

Elegimos este restaurante ya que estaba cerca de donde acabábamos de ir al cine, y era claramente un restaurante pequeño, independiente / familiar, con muy buenas críticas.El menú exterior parecía decente ya un precio razonable. La habitación del frente estaba totalmente llena, así que el amable camarero nos mostró la parte de atrás. Me and my girlfriend visited Cosmoba last week and we had a perfect evening, Alessio and his staff were so attentive and couldn’t do enough for us! The food was outstanding and we will return to try more of their great wine selection very soon

This restaurant reminds me of how Italian eateries used to be .Friendly serving simple quality dishes .Excellent frittata and terrific pastas..Very good wines both red and white complimented a wonderful evening .Would definitely return .
