I wrote a review a while back (about August 2017 not 18) and forgot the best bit! We decided to "do shots" so ordered for the 5 of us that were having, between telling the bar-lad the flavour we wanted, all the same mind, he came back a minute later asking what we wanted again as he'd forgot, then proceeded to tell us they'd only got one shot glass, could we have them one at a time. Hilarious to think of now but at the time, whoosh over my head, I'm like "wow, hey what now!?" All I could say was "Can't you use some other glasses? just measure it out?" Which he did, badly, so it was more like 8 shots not 5, bonus!

My husband and I thought we'd try this as it's a new adventure for the Corton Inn. We were seated quickly at a nice table with poppadums and a good range of chutneys whilst we ordered. The samosas were small but very tasty with a good, fresh side salad and my husband really enjoyed his starter kebab. Our main courses took some time to arrive but were beautifully cooked. My lamb biryani was really tender with extra chillis that perfected the taste. The contrasting vegetable curry was smooth and worked very well especially with soft warm keema naan. My husband's lamb dansak was substantial and cooked just the way he likes it. We were relaxed and the waiter took time to talk to my husband about dishes he'd particularly like even offering to cook something specific not on the regular menu next time we visit. All in all a very pleasant evening and a very good meal.

Having booked the table for 20.00 we arrived and were seated promptly, the pub was already quite full with a good atmosphere. We ordered drinks which were swiftly brought along with the menus, We were pleasantly surprised at the variety of Indian food available, it is certainly one of the most comprehensive menu's I have come across. The food was excellent, well presented, hot and extremely tasty with generous portions and very good value. We had a very pleasant experience, which we will definitely repeat.

This is a new venture for the Corton Inn. They now have three Indian chefs offering a full Indian menu in the restaurant or via their free delivery service. We decided to try them on New Years Eve. We expected a wait as we know this is probably one of the busiest times of the year and when we rang to place our order, they confirmed there would be a delay of about 1hour 20 minutes. The meal was in fact delivered in 1 hour 35 minutes. We did not have an issue with this although we were at the point where we were considering ringing again to see when we could expect our food. When the food was delivered it was still lovely and hot - certainly as hot as if it had been cooked and delivered direct to our table in the restaurant - and the quality and flavours were fantastic. We would highly recommend locals at least, try this restaurant. Usually living in the villages, we come to expect the food just to be tepid due to the delays in the food reaching us. Indeed we even had the oven on ready to reheat the food when delivered, but Mohammed's have got this spot on. We are going to try the restaurant this coming Friday. Give it a try and see what you think - if they can maintain the quality, you will not be disappointed.

Had works Christmas party there last night Friday 15th December 2017. Would not recommend this venue for any social event. Food was cold and as we had 10 on our table the starters were all brought out at different times the mains were the same potatoes still frozen . Gammon was inedible I blame management and chef . I felt sorry for the staff who had to serve meals like this. Venue was also very cold. Not a good experience

Visited here outside of the season, so would maybe be busier then, as it was we called in for a midweek drink, to discover it was free pool night, so there were about 10 other customers there all young people playing pool....nothing wrong with that, but why was there no one else? well maybe that most of the beers were not on...we were told he was too busy to clean the pipes? I then had my pint which was un drinkable, the bar tender relunctantly exchanged it.....we had our drink and left........not a good experience, a lovely building but needs to be cleaned!

We returned to this venue to find the management had changed. Before we found the place a friendly welcoming drinking hole where a good meal could be obtained, but now that warm welcome seems to have been lost and the atmosphere has completely changed. The greetings seemed luke warm and the family venue lost. We shall not be returning.

I can't understand the comments about the Corton Inn/Hut being "run down". The venue is great, very clean with a 5 star hygiene rating. We came here last September also and noticed it had a new owner (Hendrick). The food was great then but this year the menu has wisely been revamped. Food is great and everything is freshly made to order, but now the menu is very competitive with the other pub in the village, which I think is a smart move. Henrick and his team are very welcoming and are running a great pub. Those of you who gave reviews from 2016 and before that were not impressed I would encourage you to give The Corton another try. We have been coming on holiday to Corton for many years and always felt this pub would never be able to compete with its rival the White Horse. The White Horse is still a great pub and very popular, however with Henrick and the team at the helm The Corton in has shaped up great and will only continue to improve if they keep up the good work.

We were staying at the Warner camp at Corton, just next door, and after going for a long walk, my wife and I decided we would give this local pub a try out for lunch rather than the camp, we were not disappointing the service was a bit slow but the food turned out great, when on holiday its always remembering, that you should expect a hurry up service as you are on holiday to relax. This pub is run by a Swedish guy and his partner, and are slowly turning this place about, they do wedding receptions etc, but not accommodation. Overall a nice break away type pub, well recommended

If you're looking for a quiet night out then this is your pub! Smells like an old pub as you walk in which was the only welcoming part of the visits! On holiday in a local caravan park we decided to try the local pub, expecting a few locals and maybe a few more holiday makers we entered happily. Apart from what looked like a local couple in a corner the only other group was what I think was a mens pool tournament. We had originally gone to play pool ourselves so we settled into a corner with our drinks and decide that we'd play darts. We were enjoying our night. The staff don't seem very welcoming, not very often a smile with service and they certainly weren't pleased to see us a second night. Considering we were a group of 7, we were spending quiet a bit you think they'd be glad to get some £££ in the till, again on the second night there was only one other couple when we arrived and later on a group of uni students popped in then out and there may have been another pair or trio. We stayed til closing, after having our table cleared and the bell rung at us quite aggressively twice, they even tried taking our half full glasses! I wouldn't recommend and am boggled at the signs and advertising to hold weddings in the function room!

The specials were not what I expected as I adore fish and was hoping for more choice. We decided to have a light lunch of baked potatoes and go into Lowestoft that evening for a lovely curry. The other food that was coming out looked so uninspiring. If it is just a drink you want especially if you are from the area and do not want to drive just stick to that.

I go every Thursday evening to this nice pub. The staff are very friendly and fun. The food is amazing and all cooked fresh on site (so sometimes can take a little while to arrive infront of you, but well worth the wait - especially the pizzas). Every Thursday they host a pub quiz, which is always a good challenge. There is also a Pool evening as well, that is played in the Pool section, away from the pub quiz. The pool is the pubs private league team. The 2 lovely pool tables are open to the public everyday and night other than Thursday eve. The pub is clean and tidy, with a lovely atmosphere. There is very limited parking however. There is a massive function room attached as well, which is very nice for parties, private hire or event evenings they sometimes host. Overall, love it :)

We visited yesterday with our Foster Children for their Foster Children Christmas party. This is put on for the Foster Children in the Waveney area, a little bit of joy for them before Christmas. The menu was kiddies food (Chicken Nuggets etc) and Carvery for the adults there must have been over a 100 of us. An easy menu for any Chef! When we walked in the place was freezing we noticed the bar man had his coat on. We walked into his function room which is a nice big room though cold again. The lay up on the tables were a jug of squash, and remember this was a function for children from 0-18, a pint glass, no cutlery! The Children's meals came out VERY slowly, the chips were soggy and black, ours didn't eat it!Now a Carvery is usually served on a counter, chef cuts meat customers help themselves to veg, easy for the chef he just has to top the veg up, not here though! Now the kids had had their food for 20 mins already so they had eaten theirs and were now running around. The Chef was plating each meal up no presentation food just thrown on with a tiny bit of meat. There were only 2 waiters not in uniform and in the end customers were going up to the kitchen door to give the food out! If you dared open the kitchen door to complain about how slow it was slammed shut. It took over 20 mins to serve everyone! When you had finished the customers had to put the plates on the bar because the waiters were still distributing the main courses. The food was awful which included under cooked roast potatoes! The pudding was a slice of Gateaux with no cream straight out a box. No ice cream etc for the children! This again took forever to distribute!Someone asked for changing facilities to change their baby, a windowsill in the cold corridor had to be used! The manager at this placed should be ashamed of himself for letting this happen, the organiser of the party felt ever so guilty for picking this place.Lastly behind the bar there is a TripAdvisor score of 4 for 2015, TripAdvisor should visit themselves and very this as they are giving you a bad name as they don't deserve one point.Really Shocking place with a incompetent chef who can't do an basic meal as a Carvery.

I visited yesterday as an exhibitor at a wedding show. The Corton Inn bills itself as a "premier wedding venue", and at a wedding show it might be expected that the venue would "put its best foot forward". Sadly this was not the case. The exterior was a bit dingy and tired-looking in spite of the decorations left over from the night before (hmm..). Inside was poorly lit and chilly - in spite of being reassured that the heating was on - I checked the radiators in the function room and they were all stone-coldTo beat the chill I ordered a cafe latte from the bar in the room next door (the bar service in the function room that I had been led to expect failed to materialise). It was premium price but far from premium quality; in fact it tasted like instant whitened with a UHT creamer, dressed with a little bit of froth on top. Any high-street chain could have done better for the same money or less. The Inn was offering bar-food, but after the coffee I decided not to bother. Many of the stall holders went down the road to Tescos for sandwiches! At no point did a member of management come round to see how things were going - to my mind a shocking oversight. I would not return as an exhibitor, and I would be very, very cautious about planning or attending a function there.

I had my wedding reception held there end of September and week before we have read the bad reviews which were going around Facebook and tripadvisor. We both were bit concerned but honestly ignore all the bad reviews!!!!The Corton Inn team was so great. The day before they open a room for us and we could help decorating the room, on the day - owner opened a room again at 6 o clock in the morning so we can do our helium balloons and bring our own cakes and sweets. Owners were really flexible and open on every phone call!Corton Inn team gave us valuable tips based on other weddings where to allocate what and all did work well. Room look stunning ;-) We had a 3 course meal for my day guests and amount of food served was ridiculous, everyone was so stuffed! They went an extra mile for us there. We even had a trio of deserts which wasn't planned. In the evening the buffet food was also fantastic and was plenty of it! It was actually a shame how much got wasted. The nice couple who was serving us all day could not be more friendly and helpful and also head chef Gareth and his crew so good! I recommend this place and if I could do all again I would pick Corton Inn again. All my guests said that was lovely place in nice location and couldn't fault decoration or food.Thank you x

This was a Family wedding reception venue which failed to deliver on the promise of being a premier wedding event provider.Firstly the Staff trying to ensure the wedding guests were served were excellent however there was no visible management of the staff and when the wedding meal began to have issues there was little or no effort made to recover the situation. The wedding meal was a various meats hot carvery the layout of the single server station was poor creating delays in guests obtaining the meals, as choices ran out further delays were created by not having replacement vegetable trays prepared. There was 100@ guests and after initial mirth of the comical food serving station it developed to embarrassment for the Bride and Groom as it took such a long time for the tables to eat further embarrassment must of been experienced by the staff as they tried to serve desserts to tables that had not been invited up for the main dish. When the Manager was approached about issues a list of excuses from Staff not turning up for work, late delivery of food and kitchen equipment not working on the day were given I have also heard the wedding party have been blamed for choosing a Carvery for such large numbers and that guests took too much food or returned for extras, from my seated position I observed that no one were stacking their plates as it was obvious that the presented food was fast diminishing after just a few tables had been served. Other details the location décor was very very tired, the outside was not maintained with overgrown garden area and rotting wood on the Gazebo/covered walkway. There was a large car park but this was again poorly maintained and pot holed presenting a serious hazard to patrons after dark as there was no car park illumination at the side and rear car park areas.I felt for the Bride and Groom this is not how a Wedding Reception should be remembered. I have travelled to many locations and always give an honest opinion in these Trip Advisor reports as I use the opinions of others to make choices as to destinations and venues. I have never had to say that a venue should be avoided at all costs but the Corton Inn is now the exception. Please if you are thinking of booking a wedding look hard for any other venue in the area and if you must use the Corton Inn get the deliverables written in stone and withhold your payment until you have had an acceptable event.

Not even worthy of one out of five score. We attended my nephews wedding here and we were first to arrive from the church. Staff were flapping and we overheard them saying half of the staff hadn't turned up for work and the food delivery was short and hadn't arrived on time to get prepared for the wedding breakfast. The room was beautifully decorated by the bride and her family themselves, so don't be fooled by the Corton Inn Facebook picture of the room where they just so happen to be adverting for staff three days after the wedding. As you will have read on previous posts, the venue ran out of food. For the management to reply saying guests went up twice for food is a lie. They wouldn't have had time to stand in the queue for more than once anyway. The handful of staff that were running around trying to serve the starters and clear tables were exhausted. One of them was just a new starter that day. Nothing like been thrown in at the deep end. She said she wouldn't be returning to work there after that day. Food ran out on the evening too that didn't get put out until 10pm. No amount of refund, which the management hasn't even offered to give could ever replace or make up for what happened. I felt so sorry for my nephew and his new bride. Good job they had the love, support and understanding from their families and friends on the day. For anyone considering booking this place for their wedding or other private function, my advice is don't do it. Go somewhere else.

This venue is a disgrace. Attended a wedding recently and guests were still waiting for food as others started dessert! No apology given, some staff were wearing jeans, gravey was served an hour before the food and we had to get up and fetch our own coffee. Blocking people from your face book page only proves your disgusting lack of management. You let the bride and groom down and don't have the courtesy to apologise. Shame on you!!!! It's a good job all the guests supported the bride and groom throughout this ordeal as you did not! Thank goodness the guests were focused on the people getting married rather than your sham wedding breakfast. Don't go here as your day will be ruined!!!!! No apology = guilt. What a lovely looking old pub, very attractive and inviting. Sadly this was not our experience, just like so many other reviews we too had a terrible time. We were a party of 1 adult, 1 senior citizen and 2 young children. The pub had one other party of 3 adults in the restaurant and the bar area had 2 drinkers, who were busy playing pool – so it was a very quiet pub. The service at the bar for drinks was very slow and the barman was very unfriendly – no warm welcome here!We took a seat in the restaurant area and ordered our food with the same man from behind the bar. After a wait of 50 mins we queried how long our order would take and we were advised at least another 30-40 mins. When I challenged this, suggesting that maybe it would have been helpful to share the waiting times at the point of ordering I was told (I promise this is word for word, from the same “barman”) “we were not expecting the restaurant to be so busy” !! I asked if we had missed a large party leaving as there was only 3 other people here. He told me was only referring to the other table and ourselves! Needless to say we did not wait any longer and we cancelled our order. The “barman” stormed off very unhappy – I appreciate it was not his fault but he is front of house giving me the most ridiculous excuses of the kitchen being busy when catering for just 2 small tables (by the way the other guests received their food as we were leaving and they did share with us that they had been waiting for 1 hour and 10 mins for their food.).We appear to have been chased after as we left (by a very angry looking member of the kitchen – only identified by their attire) but nothing came of it and I can only think that this is because they saw that I was with my elderly mother and two young children – I wonder what would have happened had this not of been the case?! Additionally, on a separate note – the toilets are AWFUL, that also always sets the level bar for me!Visited in May 16 School Half-Term.

With my wife and another couple we spent a glorious weekend in the Warners Corton Holiday village from Friday 4th August to Monday 8th August. On the Sunday another couple of our friends joined us and after a midday walk along the beach and back along The Street we decided that it would be nice to have a drink and some lunch in the Corton Inn, as it looked like a nice pub....how wrong we were!!!As it was a very sunny day we decided to sit outside and have a drink before ordering some food. So, we entered the pub to order the drinks, it wasn't busy and we were eventually served by a man, who we later found out was the manager. Now, to manage quite a large pub that had a restaurant aswell you would expect the person in charge to be quite confident and respectful and pleasant to the customers.OK, well he was quite the opposite, as cheerful and helpful as a wet weekend in Manchester, with no disrespect to Manchester of course !......He was slow and ponderous and gave the impression that he neither enjoyed or wanted to be there.Anyway, we did eventually get our drinks and then took a couple of menus to choose what we wanted for lunch. So, lunch choices made we went back inside to order and this time we were served by a very pleasant girl called Emma, orders taken and paid for we went back outside to enjoy the sun and drinks in anticipation of enjoying our food.Time passed and some 45 minutes later we still hadn't had our food....although we did notice that a table of 4 that had sat down after us were eating there food. So, I went over to them and asked how long ago the had ordered, over an hour ago they said, they had been inside and ordered and came outside to eat. With that information I went back inside to find out how much longer we would have to wait. As I got to the bar another customer was discussing her 'delayed' order with Emma and after a few minutes Emma said that she would come out and see me, I said ok. Just as I walked out the customer who was discussing their order spoke to me and said that they had waited over 1.5 hours for their food and when they did get it, it was very poor quality, in fact she said that her boyfriend would not even take the uneaten sausages home for their dogs, yes, that bad!! In fact, in her discussion with Emma she was offered a £50 refund of her £100 bill. Emma asked the manager if this was ok and in a true authoritive style just shrugged his shoulders as if to say, yeah whatever!!!Emma did come out to see me and apologised immediately and basically said that they were really struggling in the kitchen, even though it wasn't even busy, and that she couldn't guarantee when our food would be ready so if we wanted she would give us a full refund. Thanking her for being honest about the situation we decided to take the offer of a full refund which she arranged immediately. I think based on what she said aswell that that may have been her last day there, don't blame her for moving on.To finish they were also doing a garden BBQ so as we couldn't get a meal from the menu we opted for either a burger or hot dog from the BBQ as temporary meal fix, although these weren't great they were edible!!!Therefore, if you are ever in the Corton area and travel along the road called "The Street" and see the Corton Inn and think that looks nice for a drink and a bite to eat, think twice, drive past and go into the next pub.

Lovely looking pub but thats where it end. We came to eat here as a family whilst staying at nearby holiday park. First off the guy behind the bar is miserable! We were first to arrive for dinner service that starts at 6pm, quickly ordered what we wanted and had to wait 45-50 minutes for food for effectively ham, egg & chips! Had to ask the guy again who said well we do make everything from fresh. When meal arrived it was pretty rank, soggy nuggets and my husbands lasagna resembled watery tomato sauce with peppers in? Paid the bill, wish we has said something now but we had been in there that long we just wanted to go. Please find some people skills and a decent chef.

Looking for a restaurant for a Mothers Day lunch we ended up at the Corton Inn where from the first minute our lovely waitress sat us down to the time we left we felt at ease and had a wonderful lunch. The staff were fantastic paying a special attention to my 2yr old granddaughter's needs while we waited for the food which was great we will certainly returning soon Great time great value great staff.

Pub was very busy, food was brilliant and cooked to perfection. We had lamb shanks and really enjoyed it. Then we had deserts I had choc fudge cake and my mum had Eton mess and both were amazingly good. Big thank you to all the staff and chefs for making the day perfect. Will be visiting again soon.

We booked a table for Mothers Day evening for six o'clock for a party of six.. On booking I was told there were some tables still available. On arrival the place was completely empty every table was available. The table was poorly laid out only knives ans dessert spoons were laid out on tissue paper napkins (no forks). Five prawn cocktails were ordered and one pate The prawn cocktails were nice but looked like shrimp and the pate was rancid. Three lemon and garlic chicken, two lamb shanks and one cream cheese and broccoli bake was ordered. The lemon and garlic chicken was just dry chicken breast; rubbery with no hint of garlic or lemon and the lamb shanks were not properly cooked. The accompanying vegetables were just lukewarm. The only decent meal wast the bake. A free glass of wine and a free desert was on the menu for the Mother but neither was offered. The total bill came to £90 something but was reduced to £41.40 after complaining. We left the establishment at about 8.15 pm and the restaurant was still empty at that time. There were about three people in the pub area. The whole place was cold throughout (no effective heating). Overall a very disappointing evening.

Had Sunday cavery for £9.00. The meat was poorly done, hardly any veg. No Yorkshire puddings. Very poor selection of veg. Wasn't worth £9.00. Also had a jacket potato in week, which was cold in places and hard. The new owner and staff are nice, but the chefs need sorting. The pub is lovely but always freezing cold.

What a lovely place. A week away for a break and found this place 10 minutes walk from the villa. The pub was very quiet but was under new management. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed for some food which was excellent. The steak was cooked to perfection. Prices were very reasonable and it was a very comfortable place to stay and chat for a few hours. We returned a few days later for more food, cooked by a different chef but the standards were as good as before. The barman was excellent, easy to chat to, good banter but please don`t ask him to sing !!

I think it is a great shame that the previous owners and their family have taken it upon themselves to try and bring this great pub down. Henrick is doing a fantastic job and is clearly working very hard to make this a pub for everyone. The different theme nights is a great idea and I hope everyone realises how hard Henrick, Luke, Emma and the rest of the team are trying to make this work. Well done guys, you're doing great

Happened upon the Corton Inn when I was visiting the area. To my very happy surprise, it was steak night. Now I'm a sucker for a steak and so ordered the 16oz T-Bone and what a steak it was, cooked to perfection, tasty and succulent. I would have been happy with just the fantastic steak but to have it accompanied by beautifully cooked 'real' chips, made from 'real' potatoes, well I was in heaven. The staff are very friendly and helpful which gives the place has lovely relaxed atmosphere and they serve Adnams beer and Aspalls cider, what more could you want. Happy days!

Been coming to this pub for a long time, but since it has changed hands has gone down hill very quicky. Had a meal here this evening had to wait an hour plus for our food. When the food turned up my fish that I ordered tasted very bland with no flavour, chips were very overcooked. My wife ordered the chicken, bacon and cheese stack with bbq sauce, (sauce was just a drizzle and looked very dry). The jacket potaoe that was ordered was still hard. Both my wife and I had to send our dinners back and was very disapointed. Ended up going to the Toby Carvery for our dinner. Will not be returning to this pub again.

Discovered this large friendly Inn while staying next door at the Warner Holiday Village. We like to visit this area in our motorhome from time to time so enquired if we would be able to park up round the back and use it as a base, which they were more then happy to do saying we could use the outside water tap if needed as well.We found all the staff and management very friendly and informative about the area. They tipped us off about a classic car show at Great Yarmouth (easy drive appox 7 mile away) on the Sunday which the lads enjoyed, while us ladies visited The National Trust Elizabethan House on the old quay which had an open day.We found the menu reasonably priced and varied. Enjoyed both our meals there especially their £9.00 carvery, slow cooked beef and pork on this occasion cooked to perfection and a good selection of vegetables including a tasty Mediterranean veg mix.The Inn also has a very pleasant landscaped seating area outside for fine days.Great location for what that part of Suffolk has to offer such as The Broads, Somerleyton House, Pleasurewood Hill, zoos and a Redwings horse sanctuary, plus all that Great Yarmouth and surrounding area has to offer. we will definitely be visiting and stopping over in our motorhomes again. Thanks to all the team.

Friendly welcome and nice surroundings all clean and tidy. Menu had good range with nice kiddies menu too and all resonably prices. We visited early on a Saturday evening the place was very quiet, had to wait 45 minutes for food though which fair enough it all seemed home cooked and not straight out of the freezer but should not have taken that long given how quiet the place was. After a recent change in management this lovely country pub is very quickly going down hill and fast! After a lovely starter we we're all set for a beautiful main course. Sadly this didn't happen. I was served a greasy tasteless fish and chips while my partner was served a sorry excuse chill with a secret ingredient baked beans which put her off instantly, when we sent it back we were informed that had 9 types ofBean in it not baked beans. Thanks Ian Watkins, I don't need a education in chilly. I want something else! The male bar tender need an attitude adjustment! Called in here on a very quiet Monday lunch time for a quick drink n a bite to eat .Lordy Lordy, it was slow. Then discovered that as of the weekend it was under new management , mmmmmmm me thinks they need a steep learning curve.Ignored first when trying to get a drink, two men behind the bar, one ( new owner I think ) was more interested in polishing the brass, the other looked like a rabbit in the headlights . Eventually got served n ordered two panini's , bearing in mind it was deadly quiet it took 40 minutes to produce two toasted panini's, not good enough, granted the food was ok but I won't be rushing back.Neither barman were very welcoming and one ends a lesson in the till.God knows what it will be like if more than 5 customers turn up at any one time .

We recently, sadly, found ourselves with a wake to arrange, it's all very last minute and we thought of the Corton Inn as it was in the right area with ample parking. It took literally 10 minutes to arrange, I phoned and spoke to Kerry who was lovely and sorted everything out for us, we paid over the phone and turned up for the wake, it was that easy. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, the hand-made buffet was lovely and what could have been an awful day was made so much easier. I would like to recommend this venue for everything from a cosy meal for 2 to a wedding, wake or any other occasion.

There were 17 friends and family members and we all pre-ordered our meals. My sister even specified how she would like her skate wings cooked and these were prepared accordingly. Despite other specific dietary requests, every single meal was exactly as stated on the pre-order. They even prepared tomato soup especially for one member of the party. We only used the bar in the afternoons, but the beer was excellent, I'm an ex-landlord and enjoy a good bitter, and my two friends like special cider and lager (lager = ugh to me) , the service spot on and the locals were very friendly, The pub is very clean and it has all of the traditional pub amenities + Sky Sports (not cheap). The food menu we looked at seemed a bit pricey, but all who came in and tried it while we were there said it was superb, so well worth it. I look forward to going back there in 6 or 12 months!

Visited here in august on a Wednesday evening. Apart from another table of 4 we were the only ones dining. My husband ordered ribs but they didn't have any so on recommendation from the bar man he went for the beef burger which they apparently get from a local butchers. I had steak & kidney pie & we ordered some home made onion rings & some Stilton sauce to share. Our meal was served by the bar man, which was fair enough as they obviously didn't have many bookings. The meal was awful! The burger tasted like ham burger not beef burger. The pie was definitely lacking kidney and had been microwaved as the pastry looked lovely & crisp but was soggy. The onion rings came out of a bag and were not home made and the Stilton sauce came in the smallest pot I have ever seen and was probably just as well as it was disgusting. There was no check during the meal to make sure everything was ok and we waited half an hour before leaving for our plates to be cleared. We won't be going back!

We hadn't booked and arrived about 6.15 to a really enthusiastic welcome from the manager, we asked about food and he explained that they start meals at 6.30 but put the restaurant lights on and showed us to a table, gave us menu and explained all the specials telling us which fish was fresh that day and left us to make our choices and enjoy our drinks until the barmaid/waitress started at 6.30. We didn't have starters but went straight to the main course of steak with real chips for my husband and the roast of the day for myself which was pork. My dinner was huge, 7 roast potatoes, 2 Yorkshire, parsnips, broccoli, peas and carrots which were all fresh and apple sauce. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly. We didn't have dessert just tea and coffee. The food couldn't be faulted, the waitress/barmaid was friendly and polite and the pub really lovely, we both wish we had come years ago and will definitely be back in the future. The dining area isn't very big and if you really want a table you would probably be best to book especially in the main holiday season.

On a Monday night you would expect a gastro pub not to be too busy and this place was not but the service was still extremely slow. 30 mins for our food order to be taken and another 30 mins for it to arrive. You know things are bad when there are six tables with drinks and none of them have food yet. There is no excuse for this level of service and an hour is 45 mins too long when you have two hungry kids with you. When the food did eventually arrive on the plus side, it was hot and my burger was clearly home made and very nice. The rest of the family had a roast beef dinner which came with aunt Bessie roast potatoes and Yorkshire and frozen peas and carrots, not exactly what you would expect as good pub grub. I timed another table and it took 15 mins for their desserts to arrive and the other tables waited just as long for their main courses. In all not worthy of a return visit, which is a shame.

After really enjoying our first visit with excellent food and service, we were very disappointed by the second visit. We were greeted and shown to the table we had booked and the order taken quickly. My gammon steak was excellent but my wife had Cajun chicken that tasted of fish (2 weeks before it had been delicious) and a jacket potato that was only partly cooked. When returned partly eaten to the kitchen there was no offer of replacement, no offer of discount, just a message of sorry from the chef via the waitress. As there was no-one else to serve in the restaurant they could have popped out to apologise. So we had one meal for the price of 2 and left with the worst scenario of one person still hungry.

We have recently moved to a new holiday home in the area and took the family to the Corton Inn, when they came for a visit. We did not want to cook in the home as we were still in a bit of a mess unpacking things and the Corton Inn was near by. The meals we ordered were excellent, cooked to perfection, and staff were very attentive and friendly. We all enjoyed our meal and one of us could not finish her meal as the portion was bigger than she would normally eat. The member of our party having the fish stated it was a bit dry, this could be that they advertise it as being of Brixham sourced and therefore would have been possibly frozen. The meat is advertised as being sourced locally and those having such commented on it being so tasty. The bill was a little more than we would normally pay, but everyone agreed it was worth the cost. The evening was rounded off by a family game of pool in the adjacent games room.

Fell upon the Corton Inn by accident as both the local Harvester and Beefeater were full. Personally, I am pleased such coincidences happen otherwise we would never have fallen upon this little gem of a place. Our first impressions were good as we were met by a lovely member of staff who could not have been more helpful. Table found and ample choice of dishes on the menu left us time to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Whilst we were choosing, drinks order was taken and efficiently returned. Choice of beers both served at the perfect temperature. The steak was going to take a little longer to cook as it was quite a thick cut, but we told quite early on so it wasn't a problem. The burger was great as were the steak and ale pudding and Cajun chicken. All the food was perfectly cooked. Portions were just the right size.No French mustard available but everything else arrived quickly including extra gravy.Dessert choice was very good and the chocolate fudge pudding was devoured in no time...Very well priced food in a relaxed atmosphere, I would certainly eat there again

I've not eaten here so can't comment on the food (yet) but I would like a wider choice of drinks. The drinks are perhaps a tad expensive however their Thursday night quiz nights are by far the best around. We always make the effort to attend, the staff are friendly, there's a cash + wine prize and the BEST arrangement of chips and sandwiches (which are alone worthwhile for the quid quiz entry fee!)

We booked several months ago for our children in care Christmas party/carvery. The week before when deposits were to be paid the Management decided that they could not honour the price of £7.50 per head and wanted £10 per head. We had 80 young people that we had fund raised for all year, we did not have the extra money. So we had to cancel, luckily the White Hart, Hopton took our booking at short notice for the £7.50. We had a fantastic meal. Much better than we had received the year before at the Corton Inn, and enough food for the whole group unlike the year before at the Corton Inn when they ran out of Vegetables. So thank you for nothing Corton Inn. Our children in care in Waveney nearly missed out on a Christmas party thanks to your uncharitable behaviour.

Travelled from Norwich for a spot of lunch and a mooch around the greenery. Although they stock some beautiful plants and gifts, the cafe was disappointing. With only cake and coffee available, no lunch, made more stressful as we had a very hungry toddler. One lady serving behind the counter who appeared confused with what she was doing at times. No option for a children’s hot chocolate. Even though this could have easily been catered to. Other staff members about but not offering help. Large que too but this didn’t seem to bother the staff and create urgency. Be nice to see a simple lunch menu in future.
