Corto Italian Deli in Richmond upon Thames

Great Italian deli located in Twickenham. Good selection of Italian treats including traditional cakes and pastries. Nice to sit outside with a coffee in the summer and people watch. On the expensive side but worth the quality.

I wanted to write about this place for awhile. It looks so nice from the outside and the setting is nice. But I was really disappointed. I stopped for a snack in Taste of Twickenham and found the staff unwelcoming. I bought a pepsi for later and paid take out price, and the girl waiting accused me of paying take out when drinking in, but I'd actually bought it for later. I find it expensive and actually lacking in any real quality. I don't find them friendly at all. I guess they have a good location so don't bother. I've never bothered to go back.

One of the best places for coffee in the area. Funny, but warm, people. Nice food and gorgeous coffee. On a sunny day, a great place to sit.

Ilaria and Romina ensure guests receive all the comfort they need. The atmosphere is warm , the food is taste and the location is brilliant.

Serving delightful desserts and bites. Artisan coffee. Authentic. Lots of delicacies and nibbles from all over Italy. Lovely location on church street. Great place to get the real ingredients for that perfect italian meal or just meet friends over coffee and dessert.

The coffee shop has a cozy atmosphere, and the Italian girl who works there is very friendly. The cappuccino is amazing, and the croissants are delicious. However, it is quite expensive, but treating oneself to a visit once in a while won't hurt the wallet.

Cold arancini and a long wait for a very basic mozzarella panini. Almost £16 for the two arancini’s and the panini as well. Not impressed.

Lovely deli with nice coffee and snacks, you do have to sit outside which could be a problem in poor weather, also in the shade.

Wow! What a gem of a place! Small and compact but full of character - the food on offer is simple, fresh and delicious. What can I say? This is a classic, rustic Italian all-day deli, offering the very best of Italy. Located on Church Rd, you can come here for a quick bite and a good Italian coffee or pack any of their grab and go goodies ( try their Italian rice balls ‘arancini’ - deliciously plump stuffed rice balls filled with meat and peas, then deep fried. They make perfect party eats or picnic snacks) Eel Pie Island is nearby or picnic by Champions Wharf.. get those hampers ready!

Evening ot in Church St. Sat outside on the street. my heading sums it up. Very freindly boys serving. Seemed to have a wood fired oven. Pizza OK, wine plonk. £20 a bit much

The best coffee and thw best panini's!!

Called in for a cold drink, afternoon coffee and some pastries. The ladies behind the counter were very welcoming and recommended cold drinks and delicious pastries for us. We sat outside on comfortable chairs with good cushions and drinks and food were promptly bought to us. This is the quieter end of Church St., in the afternoon at least. The pastries were delicious and the coffee was very good too. They offer lots of different paninis and salads for light lunches. This is deli as well as a café with lots of traditional Italian produce on sale. We will definitely pop in for a longer look round the shelves next time we are in Twickenham

If you want authentic decent coffee...this is the place. They know their coffee and more importantly, know how to make it. Best coffee in Twickenham by a mile. Friendly staff, even when they're rushed off their feet.

What an amazing place! Not only a great selection of Italian groceries but amazing fresh deli and Paninis. The customer service there is always five stars and you feel very taken care of. They also always have the best holiday treats for anywhere from Christmas to Easter. One of the best business in Twickenham, five stars is not enough for the great staff and selection.

Nice little place in Twickenham. They have some great ice cream & coffee. The have some good selection of pastry, oils and pasta as well. Staff are very nice. Prices are great. There is some outdoor seating as well.

Amazing Italian place. Been there many times and staff always so nice and kind. Had a plenty of good Italian grocery options and yummy gelato, their Italian pastries taste so yummy. One of the places that I really love keeping visits.

This is a gem. The lady that runs it is wonderful and her food delightful and well-priced. I cannot praise this highly enough. Her authentic Italian food is a delight. If I could have given her 6 stars I would have done.

Fantastic service and great quality cured meats and pasta available, with authentic Italian brands. I usually come here for a top up to support local business and avoid the pedestrian road rage at Waitrose. Seems to be a hit with walkers during lockdown getting their takeaway caffeine fix too!

A real lockdown blessing! In better times a cafe with deli; in lockdown the emphasis has moved to the deli/food side with takeaway coffees also available. Lovely selection of Italian produce including wines, fresh veg, pastas, charcuterie selection, croissants and breads, and yummy treats (cannoli included). The coffee is excellent too.

Coffee is easily the best in Twickenham and they have tried really hard to make everyone as comfortable as possible - even if the weather is yucky and you're sitting outside

Lovely place to find Italian produce in Twickenham. A great and surprisingly large selection of pasta, biscuits, cheeses and meats, staples and cupboard supplies etc. Great for gifts or treats... Brilliant location: buy something to enjoy on the riverfront!

Really friendly staff, great coffee and lots of traditional treats to takeaway. Look out for the basil infused pasta and sausages, excellent for making a delicious lunch or dinner.

Very limited options in the menu, toilet not opened to costumers and the short hair girl in the counter is rude with costumers. Food is ok. Very disappointing

My Italian wife and I went there 2 times to buy croissants and other stuff and I have never seen such unfriendly and rude staff.I will never go there anymore especially when there are so many nice places when people are much moreee friendly.

I am so impressed with how Corto shifted their business model and became a lifeline to Twickenham when things like pasta and tinned tomatoes were out of stock everywhere. As things open back up I will continue to support them and hope others will too!

Stopped of this morning for a Hot Cappuccino at Corto Deli. The server had a very unfriendly attitude. I got my 2 coffees and some yeast. The cappuccino was very bad and cold I dumped it in the nearest rubbish bin. If you want coffee go to Cafe Nero when lockdown is over .The staff even smile at customers!

The place is tiny and cosy, the staff was very friendly and the coffee and cake were excellent

Been to this place several times. The service has never been very fast but generally the food is very good. Visited at the weekend however the service was really slow even though there were many tables available. We got 2 panini. One was burnt on the outside but cold on the inside. The other was just cold. It will be a long time before I return to this place.

Real Italian bar. Outside London there is usually a proliferation of “Italian” restaurants where the owner simply pretends to be Italian by saying “mamma mia” from time to time. It’s not the case at all here: this is all 100% Italian food produced by real Italians, and with no spelling mistakes on the menu. Everything you will order here is amazing, and produced from high quality ingredients imported from Italy. You will find no Tesco ham in here. Do not underestimate the value of the goods sold at the counter. They sell many varieties of ham at incredibly low prices. It’s the same quality that you would get at Borough Market, but with one less digit in the price tag.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon, were people there but not overly busy. Ordered 2 coffees & a panini. It took ages & the panini arrived before the coffees, I had nearly finished it before the drinks came. Nice food but the service needs looking at as it wasn't that busy then!

Il locale è molto carino, purtroppo però tutto il resto è da bocciare. Ho ordinato una piadina con prosciutto crudo, rughetta e stracchino, mi è arrivata una piadina con prosciutto crudo, insalata mista (di quelle in busta) e un formaggio a fette di quello del supermercato. Evidentemente i proprietari si sentono furbi e sperano che il cliente straniero non se ne accorga. Piadina pagata 7.90 pound oltretutto. Inoltre, servizio lento a livelli incredibili, abbiamo ordinato come antipasto della focaccia con olive (quindi già pronto, non dovevano cucinarlo) e lo hanno portato dopo mezz'ora di orologio. Quando abbiamo chiesto il conto lo hanno portato dopo quasi venti minuti. Purtroppo da evitare.

We have been to Corto before and the food has always been great and the service friendly. However, I would advise against going on a busy Saturday. My husband and I visited today and got there at 2pm. The rugby was on at Twickenham so the whole street was very busy. We were told that it would take five or so minutes to get a table and be served and we were fine with that, particularly as it was a busy day. After sitting down we had to get our own menus and then call the waiter after 20 mins of waiting. We ordered a water and a beer (in addition to food) but were given a beer and a coke. Food did not arrive and at 3pm I asked if we were still getting it. 18 mins later when our order was given to a table that arrived at least 40 mins after us, we got up to pay for the beer and leave. The waiter had no clue what had happened and someone inside eventually said sorry and gave us the beer on the house. This place always has good food but they can't cope with a busy weekend. This is not the first time service has been slow - the last time it was also a sunny Saturday (but not a rugby day). I fully appreciate it will take time to be served and for food to be prepared when it is busy, especially on a rugby day. However, what I cannot understand is 1) why one couple that arrived after us received their food, ate it and paid for it before we'd received ours 2) when our food finally came it was given to a table that arrived 40 mins after us and 3) why the place could not manage customer expectations. If you're busy then tell customers that they should not expect to receive food within an hour, or get their order taken within 15 mins. Manage expectations! Its not difficult and then at least customers know perhaps its not a good time to eat at Corto.

I saw this place advertised on FB,the Photos were of Italian Easter Eggs, I knew straight away I needed to take a visit, Wowwwwwww it was so easy to find and pay and display parking available just outside. It’s tucked away on beautiful street with some really nice shops. What a cute coffee/deli the owner was such a lovely, friendly lady, the coffee and sandwiches were delicious( the bread and fillings were so fresh),she gave us a complimentary cold bottle of water,she has a lot of good quality Italian produce. It’s so worth a visit, I’d definitely return.

More and more corto Italian deli is my fav place where to eat genuine and fresh Italian food, or to chill out with a fantastic real espresso or to enjoy my fav cakes: Romina’s soft chocolate cake , or Sicilian cannolo (oh my! So fresh!) or the new Pistacchio cake (torta margherita con crema al pistacchio). All this though, would be nothing if not for the great atmosphere that Romina and Alice are able to create: always a cosy place, friendly and welcoming. I’d say it’s like to be in Italy but to be honest it’s even better!

Food is nice(maybe more in the expensive side) with authentic Italian products but the service is disappointing.I have been to this place several times the last 3 years but I have never seen these two ladies smiling,they don't really make an effort to be friendly and approachable. I went back again and again because I like to support local shops and I tried to excuse their behaviour thinking that they are very busy but I think today was my last time there. I prefer to go to places that make me feel welcome.

I went to the Deli based on the reviews and wasn't disappointed, the food was good. The menu is not too obvious, for a shy person this place isnt perfect, you might have to ask to find what you want. But its tasty, the atmosphere is great, and its good value.

A little place with two nice ladies looking after the guest with a friendly and positive attitude. The two cope extremely well during busy times. The food is simple very fresh a tasty. Te location on church rd really lovely. I come here for a quick bite and a good Italian coffe

2 mins walk from the river on a pedestrian only lane in Twickers Friendly and quick service but they did manage to mix up our order slightly hence just 4 stars but overall good food coffees and ambiance

I have never had anything but a great experience here. If only they were open in the evening! It’s our favourite place for lunch. Nothing is ever too much trouble. They are great with the children. If ever there is a longer wait it’s because there is no compromise on the quality or presentation of the food. The owner puts so much effort into the displays, she has a real artistic flair and it’s always great to see what she has done with the latest one!

Delicious panini & decent coffee. A hidden gem!

It was a busy sunny Sunday in Twickenham when we at outdoors to eat at Corto. I was with my wife, her father, and our young children (5 & 2 years old), & we were immediately seated next to a couple who asked to be moved away from our table. This isn't really the fault of the restaurant, but I got the impression that this place is not very child friendly as the other customers weren't entirely happy to see children there - even though we chose the restaurant BECAUSE it had an outdoor seated area in a nice location. I would say this is somewhere for couples to dine, not family groups.

There’s nothing that I dislike about Corto, everything is incredible! Delicious, fresh Italian food and friendly service. Love it here and will always visit as much as possible for an antipasto platter and glass of wine. Great coffee too! Xx

We are regulars. Whether we design our own salads, select a lunch from their boards, or from the specials, meals at Corto are always great. I'm confident when taking a friends that the experience will be good. We avoid it on days when there are too many prams, it's a little small for lots of buggies, but we're never disappointed with the food and service. A Twickenham treat for lunch.

I visited here with a friend (she’s Italian and loved it too) and we had the perfect lunch. I had the Parma ham, mozzarella and aubergine panini - felt like I was in Italy. Great service by lovely people too. I am local to Twickenham and will definitely be back.

I love this place. The way the 2 ladies take care of the place make it so nice . When ever I am a bit low this is the best place to have a coffe , and enjoy the Italian delicacy .

Went to Corto this morning for breakfast. Great warm welcome, great authentic Italian decor. Fresh and tasty food! Loved it! Would definitely come back soon and recommend to anyone while in Twickenham! Great little place!
