I feel some of the negative reviews miss the point. I've been three times now and you go as a dining experience, you can't just pop in for a quick meal. With numerous dishes served over the course of the meal, each delicious but if not to your liking something that is will come along soon enough, when they see you've particularly enjoyed something they tend to quickly bring you a little more! We had someone in our party that wasn't eating cheese and the staff managed to accommodate them very well. All in all it's a friendly place, with delicious food. If you go there ready for the meal it's hard to be disappointed.

We visited with friends for maybe the 4th time in the past few years and were not disappointed. As usual we were very well looked after by the wonderful Simona and her team. The food is fantastic rustic fare, which keeps on coming but is never overwhelming or to excess, the house wines are £35-40 and a perfect match.

We were under the impression from earlier reviews that it would be a “package deal” of 10/11 courses including house wine. How wrong we were! The cheapest wine was a so-so Lugana, £40. We were offered Chianti at £125 !!! We received 7 courses and dessert. Most were quite good but only the last, roast porker, was excellent. Coffee was extra. Service was efficient if humourless. At £125 each including a modest tip we all considered it poor value.

Enjoyed a really wonderful night here. I’d spotted it some time ago and marked it for when I did find myself in Richmond with enough time to get a table. Didnt disappoint. Wonderful list of Italian wines including all the favourites. Our Primitivo was so soft and rich. All the courses were tasty, show stopper obviously being the roast pork. The team were kind enough to let us have the head so we could get the pigs cheeks! What a treat. Lovely hospitality as well. Thank you for a great night!

What an absolute gem this place is. We are lucky to have spent a lot of time in Italy as we have family there (through marriage) and this is the most authentic Italian family-style intimate dining experience we’ve had outside Italy. Each course was a delight (the pasta dish has made the ‘last supper’ list for most of us) as were the wonderful wines. The chefs expertise was clear in every bite - combining and balancing fresh, quality ingredients perfectly. Simona and her team looked after us so well and we loved the theatre with the pig. We were welcomed by a very hospitable lady who looked after us, along with her colleague, very well all evening. The food was delicious and served in courses family-style - salads, Parma ham, polenta with garlic mushrooms, prawns, scallops, ravioli, roast porchetta with potatoes and apple sauce, then panacotta with berries. The pork was brought out by the chef before he cut it to show everyone in the restaurant the whole joint, which was a lovely touch. House wine was £40 a bottle but they also have more expensive wine if you’re feeling flash. The food is £75 per head and if you don’t eat meat/fish they will adapt the menu for you. I don’t understand the recent negative reviews, maybe they visited on a bad day. It was a lovely experience and I would recommend it.

Went there because of good reviews, and hopes were high. A multi- course Italian dinner of chef’s choises of the day - and the whole thing done similtaneously to all in that small restaurant - wonderful consept! Was hoping to have nice wines too for different dishes - but all they had by glass was inexpensive IGT wines. For bottles: no list, but some decent barolos and brunellos decorating their walls. Didn’t have a bottle on my own. About food - having lived in Italy for years I have to say there was little Italian in any of the dishes. 1) Starter salad with young prociutto, that no one explained where it came from and how was it matured 2) followed by (ok) pork sausace on spinache, but nothing complicated for a chef to do 3) prawns in tomato sauce - cooked until so dry I left them 4) plain scallops in oven, again over cooked (from frozen, both? why not have them really fresh when you know how many people are going to have this at this spesific day and time? Or then choose another ingredient, fresh? 5) razor clams in oven, topped with parsely and oil… nothing amazing, repeating my self but over cooked 6) ravioli with aspargus filling - would eat this without question over any casual lunch but no reason to praise chef’s skills. No finesse. Simple cream sauce. 7) whole pork was brought by applauze and I guess some people do enjoy pouring gravy and shredding their pork pieces - but sorry was not really the Italian experience I was hoping for 8) panna cotta with berries. Simple and easy to do also at home. Bill for 2 ppl including compulsory tip: 199£

I went many times when I lived there and I only saw it once but there is a Peach dessert which I would do anything to get the recipe for! (I lived around the corner and one night had 23 courses.) Everything is divine! Important note: the main course is served at the same time for all diners so if you get a 6pm reservation or an 8 pm reservation you will still eat the main when the main course is out of the oven. One seating per night. Make reservations accordingly. The best!

Most enjoyable experience, but you need to be aware of the way things work here. There is no food menu nor any choice. There is no wine list though lots of choice. Everyone sits down at the same time, you choose your wine with Simona and then the plates of food start to appear. Our evening comprised six courses ... a salad with parma ham, melon and roasted veg, prawns in a tangy sauce, scallops, ravioli, sucking pig and finally strawberries with Panna cotta. The restaurant was packed and so quite noisy, but we are told that earlier in the week it is usually less busy and so a bit quieter.

Disappointing second visit. We last visited here about a decade ago, when getting a table was near impossible. The experience then was madly enjoyable - with an eccentric guy who made you try eclectic things and made you laugh. The atmosphere then was buzzing. Fast-forward to now and it is formulaic and mundane. Food still great but atmosphere very flat and service lacklustre; didn’t even tell you what half the dishes were. Food was still lovely. However, left feeling very full but overcharged for an average experience

An amazing "Private Kitchen" Italian; some of the best Italian food that we've had, anywhere! You really need to book in advance, and it's a 7pm start; everyone in the restaurant eats the same menu, at the same pace... for about 3 hours. It's maybe too much food for a regular visit; we were served 6 appetisers, 2 seafood dishes, a ravioli, a roast pig and a desert. They were each excellent, and quite generous. I don't think I need to eat for another week! As others have pointed out, the one downside is the heat! Even with the door wide open and the aircon "on", it must have been nearly 30 degrees in the restaurant; and that did make it harder to relax and enjoy.

This is one of the best culinary experiences I’ve had in ages! But be warned, come hungry! It’s an absolute feast! Started with antipasti (prosciutto fig rocket salad, grilled vegetables, heavenly artichokes drowned in garlic olive oil and bread to soak it up!) then prawns in an incredible tomato sauce with a kick of spice! Scallops so fresh and baked in their shells, more garlic and olive oil simple and delicious. Then, the best ravioli I’ve ever had filled with light creamy asparagus, tossed in cream and fresh parmesan. We actually thought that was it… and then… the pig is brought out! With baby potatoes and a sweet mustard sauce, soft and succulent, crispy and perfectly cooked. The dessert was a perfect ending fresh strawberries macerated, a scoop of light and creamy panna cotta - thought I’d gone to heaven! As for drinks - there’s no wine list but the house wine is outstanding I had a cold rose and the others had a red. No wine by the glass only bottle or half bottle (go with the flow!) our server was Jonathan he was absolutely incredible and I couldn’t fault anything, we thought he’d been working there for decades but he said only a few months - an asset to this establishment, as is the host we felt so relaxed and welcome! This is definitely something I will do again and take any visitors as well. Worth every penny, come with an open mind and easy going attitude and you’ll have the best time.

"This is the best Italian restaurant I have ever eaten in outside of Italy". That is quite a statement, coming from a man who will categorically slate any restaurant who offers mediocre Italian food. I am Italian, 61, and live in London. I consider my self a very good cook having learnt in Tuscany and Lazio in the early 80s to mid 90s from old wives, chefs and cooks alike. This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. It not only offers a set taster menu of supreme quality, but has the feel of a real authentic Italian restaurant. The chef Mamoon is from Bangladesh but for me he can be an honorary Italian if he likes. He has learned from a great chef the owner (can't recall his name) but he has learned so well. The paccheri hand made pasta with sausage was the very best pasta I've ever eaten in a restaurant outside of Italy. Cooked to perfection. The fagioli with pancetta was of supreme quality and he needs to teach me how to cook it. please, please... Any restaurant who offers both Ornellia (£100) a bottle or Tignanello (£240) per bottle is serious. I cannot afford these wines anymore, but recall drinking them in Italy and they are of exceptional quality. Their house red was excellent and smooth and reasonably priced. They decide what you eat. They ask you if you have any dislikes at the start and then they bring you out an 8 course meal of top notch quality. Antipasti of prosciutto, figs, rugola, asparagus in a lovely cheesy sauce, the amazing fagioli and pancetta, prawns in garlic and tomato, scallops, paccheri pasta with sausage meat and cream, with a grand finale of porchetta with oven potatoes. THIS RESTAURANT IS A TEN! Simona, the manager is lovely, attentive and welcoming. Mimmo the waiter work his socks off and is brilliant front of house. I cannot fault this restaurant. It might be pricy for some at £70 per head plus wine, but it is worth every penny. Will I be going back? 100%! So who is Tony Toast? Well he's my lifelong friend. It's not his real name just his alter-ego. We celebrated his 60th last night in this wonderful little restaurant and it was a night we shall all remember! Thank you Boccon di'vino you are divine! This is the type of place you either get or you don’t, which I believe is the reason for the mixed reviews. We were a bit nervous as one of our guests was a vegetarian, but it turned out that we had nothing to worry about. So…the house wine is £30 a bottle (and was good value in our opinion). We were then served nine courses:- Melon and prosciutto, grilled vegetables, asparagus, artichokes, prawns, scallops, pasta, suckling ping, strawberries and panna cotta. (Our vegetarian guest was offered an alternative to the meat courses, and some of his alternatives were divine!!) We loved the concept of no menu and a relaxed dining environment, where food just continues to arrive….the time flew as the experience took just over 3 hours. We certainly weren’t hungry when we left, and didn’t think £65 per head for the food was unreasonable. We thought Simona was hilarious, and can see why it’s not easy easy to get a table here.

The restaurant like no other. We went to this restaurant for our Sunday dinner, one of the best experiences in our lives. We have been greeted with a very simple and pleasant setting. The customer service was explicit throughout the evening and the food is of gods! Everything was made with one goal and one goal only, to make your taste buds dance. Every single bite of newly and freshly presented dish was something truly amazing and not knowing what will come next is a big part of the whole experience. Would recommend this place to everyone. Me and my wife are definitely coming back and are thinking of making it a once in a month treat.

Stunningly entertaining... the best place to enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends, a celebration, or a superbly atmospheric dinner. Hosted by gorgeous Simona, this is one of thr best celebratory dining experiences in London. A dozen courses, fabulous wine, a fantastic hostess, and if you're lu lucky, great company! Book well ahead... it's popular for very good reason!

The food is nice. Nice is a banale but acceptable word meaning satisfactory and that’s what it was. Really the meal, at £60 a head is a vehicle to charge a hefty amount for the drink. I think the house was £30 per bottle. Overall...

Had dinner in a couple of occasions and lunch also... absolutely fantastic every time. The food, the presentation, the atmosphere and the way staff treats the clients. One of my best experiences dinning out in Richmond area. I will always recommend as it never disappointed me and will definitely keep going back.

A wonderful restaurant where your job is to attend and eat course after course of wonderful food selected and cooked by the chef. For those who like to be surprised and delighted it is a treat. Everyone must come at the same time and it feels like a very special party. I was thrilled

A feast, and excellent, but to be honest, it’s too much food, and it’s a waste.

Everything is absolutely delicious - ambience and food and decor - a real treat - just make sure you book well in advance so you are not disappointed and cannot get a table

It's was great impression at the beginning of my visit to Richmond . Just book the place 2 hours before we dine in and luckily we got the place to sit for 2 for dine in. It's Wednesday night so Only 8 customer in the restaurant . But the atmosphere was romantic, beautiful and full of joy's. Food was great at the beginning , but I lost count what am I eating because there's no list menu in there . Wine price from House wine is £30/bottle or £8/ glass and also £40,£50,£60/bottle wines to choose.Set menu £65/person with service charge not yet include so you have to add Extra at the end when you're paying the bill. Food was great untill the meat course come and it was Not my favourite dish at all (roasted baby pig ) and it's too much,so put me off little bit . If you are fancy of pork than is fine . Good Italian dishes , Very tasty, definitely you will not feeling hungry anymore after eaten 10 dishes of foods in 3 Hours nonstop. Note:Best way to come with empty stomach and definitely worth to Try 😉

Probably one of the best restaurants I have been, the hostess is absolutely fantastic, the food is second to none, me and my family love going there, restaurant is not big so you will have to book probably weeks in advance, but you will not regret it.😋😋😋

A great restaurant with a friendly atmosphere with great home cooked Italian food, no frozen or microwaved rubbish. Will return more frequently since we have discovered this great restaurant. Malanzanne is to die for, also the home made dough heart shaped pizzas..... what more to life but good Ialian cooking.

Amazing food! Have been eating at il gusto for the last few years. I went here with my neighbour and our food was outstanding. For once I didn’t go for the pizzas I had the seafood pasta which was delicious and the garlic pesto tomato bread to start. There food is amazing and would definitely recommend cannot wait to come for dinner again :)

Really, really good food on our last visit. Main course pizza and pasta great, and the starters, calamari, buchetta, and malanzane parmigiana were excellent. Friendly staff, great place. Updating 3 November 2024. Just as good as last time. Fabulous Quatro Stagioni pizza ... just so tasty. And as before, fabulous service.
