Been here twice on our break to Deeside. Staff really friendly and helpful. We had coffee and tea on our first visit with a slice of cracknel. Tea, Toasties and cracknel! (again) again on our second visit. Although we only had snacks which were very reasonably priced the food being delivered to other tables looked first class.

Fabulous soups full of flavour and plentiful portion. Sandwiches and scones were fresh and tasty too. Servers were all friendly and happy to discuss recipes. One downside was allowing dogs on the seats!

We’ve just had a delicious lunch at the Corner House. It was the perfect spot for lunch, between cycling the Bike Trails at Tarland and those at Aboyne. The chicken and leek soup was outstanding, and the sweet potato, chilli and coconut one was delicious too. We all enjoyed building our own paninis. Our bacon, Brie and red onion chutney one was the best we’ve ever tasted. The staff were extremely kind and pleasant, rearranging tables to accommodate our family of seven. It was deservedly very busy, but worth browsing the lovely gift shop while awaiting a table.

I’ve been to this cafe on three occasions and not once had they scones left, each time before lunchtime. Wouldn’t it be an idea to up the order?? I’m not going back , there’s always an issue, I’ve seen disgruntled customers each time because the staff rushed off their feet. More staff, more scones and less “ gifts” would be an idea.

My husband and I met a friend for coffee and a treat. We received a pleasant welcome, and were shown to our table which we had reserved. We had a really pleasant friendly Waitress, a lady from Hungary. She was being so nice to all the customers. My husband chose a muffin, I had a fruit scone and our friend had the banoffie scone. (It wasn't the easiest to eat, with toffee sauce and toffee pieces on the top!) We had a pot of tea for one, a cappuccino and a latte. Everything was excellent. The tea room did become very busy - which was great to see - so we were glad we had reserved a table. A lovely visit.

We stopped here on our way through Deeside hoping to get a coffee and snack. I am coeliac and have a gluten free diet and most smaller places I usually struggle to get something to eat. However on this occasion we spoke to the waitress who said she was also coeliac and she gave me options of what I could eat, I opted for the omelette with gluten free toast and my mum had the veggie breakfast. It was clearly marked on the menu that they can cater for dietary requirements so it's always worth asking. The omelette was packed full of mushrooms and cheese and really tasty, and the toast was served with individual butters and marmalade's which is also great for me as no chance of regular toast crumbs in the butter! My mum's veggie breakfast was big, and looked really fresh, she said it tasted great. It also came with free tea or coffee. Additionally I heard the waitress re-iterate to the kitchen that my order was gluten free which is very reassuring. The cafe was quiet but we were seated quickly and our food came out fast with everything we had asked for so no need to keep asking for butter or sauce etc. Overall very impressed and if we're in the area again we will make a point to stop here for breakfast!

Really disappointed with the standard of food unfortunately. My partner had a toastie and I had a slice of carrot cake, both with a cup of tea. The carrot cake was awfully dry and to be honest with you I would have been ashamed to serve the toastie: two squashed pieces of anaemic bread and some crisps thrown on the plate. Also couldn’t see any vegan/alternative dietary options which is a shame. We won’t be visiting again.

Have visited this cafe for nearly 20 years, this was not a great experience today. Waited to be seated, head of the Q, staff buzzing about , several empty tables, 10 mins later nobody said hello or even made eye contact- not even a friendly “we are busy but will be with you in a few mins”. Ok perhaps the staff haven’t been told about customer service but come on when the individual behind you in the Q was taken to a table almost immediately, what’s going on? I sincerely hope it wasn’t because my aldut daughter was in a wheelchair, I hope it was misunderstanding and poor staff training, but I wonder. We have only had the chair a few months and I now fully understand the meaning of being invisible. Shame, won’t be back

We stopped here on the spur of the moment after cycling to Ballater and back on the excellent Deeside Way trail. We were lucky enough to get one of the outside tables, so we could watch the world go by as we ate. Both of us chose the "make your own panini". You don't actually have to make your own, you just choose the fillings you want to have in it. We asked for a side of homemade coleslaw as well. The paninis, when they arrived, proved to be very generous in both size and filling. The bread was deliciously hot and soft, and everything tasted fresh. The slaw was a nicely cool accompaniment. Overall, we were very pleased with our spur of the moment choice!

We had had enormous fun at the Tarland Bike Trails (highly recommended), but were very cold and hungry, so needed a warm and tasty lunch before tacking the Bellwood Bike Tracks in Aboyne (also superb). We arrived (a three generational family of seven) and requested a table to accommodate us all. Despite the restaurant being almost full within a short time we were seated together and our orders taken. Most of us opted for the Lunch Deal, with a bowl of soup and a toastie or panini for £6 95. The lentil and bacon soup was delicious with chunks of bacon in the tasty and clearly home made soup. The cheese and ham paninis were crisp and fresh with a generous position of ham and melted cheese. Our daughter in law had a tuna and cheese baked potato with salad, which apparently was also excellent. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the roaring wood burner made a lovely focal point as well as adding welcome warmth on a cold day. We would strongly recommend the Corner House for lunch, and if you have to wait to be seated the gift shop has some lovely tempting items.

While working in Aboyne today, myself and a colleague popped into this tearoom for some take away brunch. The staff were immediately snooty and unwelcoming. When the food order arrived, it was dumped on the counter with no comment and the "chef" displayed the same frosty demeanour as the waiting staff. If this were not enough reason to flee the premises, the food itself added insult to injury by being of very poor quality. The bacon rolls had no butter or spread on them, the bacon itself was rubbery , and mostly inedible and there was no offer of sauces. This along with dry muffins sealed the deal....won't ever be back. Packed lunches for next Aboyne trip!

Visiting a place like this makes you wonder what foreign visitors must think about our attitude to food. The environment couldn't be more bland if it tried; menus are tired, tacky, laminated plastic affairs and are totally devoid of inspiration (baked potatoes, sandwiches, etc.). The food its self matches the environment perfectly - bland, uninspired and served with a degree of apathy. I had the weirdest Ploughman's I've ever encountered - 3 small slices of cheese, two of which were the same cheap cheddar, accompanies by a pile of shredded lettuce, cucumber and carrot; supplemented by a 'home made roll' which looked like roll, but tasted like a dry scone. The other food we had was of an equally low standard; nothing specifically wrong with it, but nothing to recommend it either. Aboyne, and its visitors, deserve better.

We often visit this small emporium for lunch, but last time I was in a hurry and left for another restaurant because initial service took so long though the place was not even half full. Delighted to report normal fast, efficient service had resumed and the soup, sandwich and panini were all beautifully prepared. Part of the pleasure of this place is that the entry is through an Aladdin's Cave gift shop. The cosy woodstove and the picture window add to the experience, but the real asset is the smiling staff. Also, this cafe is part of an interesting gift shop - well worth a wander round.I was pleased with my visit to these premises and would have no hesitation in returning to the Corner House.

When we arrived we read the sign that said to wait to be seated. After 5 minutes i went to find someone who informed me that i should have just sat down. AFter 10 minutes our order was taken. Lovely tea and scone but they forgot our water. Didn't feel like we were a priority.

This is a great wee tearoom in the middle of Aboyne which I regularly go to during my work lunch break. Usually have a cup of soup to takeaway which is always great and you can easily tell it's homemade with good quality ingredients. Staff always seem to make the time to say hello to you and even when they're busy acknowledge you are there so you never feel you are being ignored. Very reasonably priced as well which is always a bonus and is a big reason in why I keep going back!

Food is average café type foodThe service is always appalling. I made the mistake of calling in for a much needed cup of tea shortly before closing, which clearly displeased the lass working, as she parked her strong smelling bucket of floor mopping water by my feet (despite the place being empty) and started vacuuming - under my tableFortunately I now use the Black faced sheep

Lovely coffee and an absolutely delicious 'Special scone' - flavour of the day was lemon, raisin and coconut. truly yummy! The staff were most obliging and quick at serving. We were surprised at how cheap this was, but it was and we'll definitely go back when we're on Deeside again.

We have been here on several occasions, usually for breakfast after swimming on Saturdays. The staff are all very pleasant, and really seem pleased to see you. There is a good choice of items on the breakfast menu, with things on toast and traditional plated choice. They are all cooked to order and not a trace of grease anywhere. They obviously use the best ingredients.I have been in at lunchtimes and had soup and sandwiches and can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal here.A previous review complaining about the soup, does not ring true with me,as I know that they do not operate like that. The Cornerhouse is an asset that Aboyne can be proud of.

As a frequent customer to this coffee shop I cannot fault anything. The staff are always pleasant and helpful. The coffee is the best as are the scones and home bakes, there is even a taster tray at the entrance. There is also a good choice of meals and sandwiches, all freshly prepared. My favourite lunchtime treat is the choice of homemade soups, ranging from Cullen skink to roasted pepper to the best pea and ham ever!If you want a nice lunch/ coffee in great surroundings in front of a lovely wood burning stove then this is the place to go!

Had the worst soup ever in my 34 years of living. When i told the staff i couldn't eat as it wasn't good, he still proceeded to put the soup through on my bill. Completely ignored what i said. So when i asked "Am i really having to pay for that?". again he never said a word. Even before i said anything and we got our sweets, they never took the plate of soup away. They must of new it was awful and was too scared to ask whether the food was okay.

This evening my friends and I were out to enjoy ourselves having a lovely meal. But that did not go to plan, as we had to wait 2 and a half hours for our food! (one of my friends order a steak which was flavourless and the other order a starter which was completely disregarded when asked about) Although waiter was very accommodating and trying his best to make our meals come quicker, the whole place is severely understaffed causing backups throughout the whole restaurant. As our food was taking a long time we were told we could leave and not wanting to deal with us in that regard. Overall I am very disappointed in the service I received this evening, either this place has to cut down it customer intake or find a way to accommodate this volume of people.

Lovely food served by lovely staff. Great meal and very tasty food, well presented. Even put candles in the desserts for the birthday boys. Thank you Buchan Braes.

We had the most amazing afternoon tea experience in the Bubble. We can't praise the Banff Springs highly enough. This was a mini 'hen party ' and so much thought had gone into making this so special for the bride to be. Beautifully decorated, Beth and her team looked after us so well. The quality of the food and drinks was outstanding. A lovely afternoon was had by all. Highly recommend! A big thank you to all involved!

Good things : This cafe is in a great location and offers plenty of seating outside which is ideal for those with dogs. Not so good things : The coffee was ok although pricey for the size of cup. Cakes were nice enough, but had too much buttercream icing. Bad things : The layout of the tables inside is a bit congested. The volume and choice of music appears to be for the benefit of the staff because we, and those around us at other tables, to raise our voices to have a conversation.
