Corner Cafe Portishead in North Somerset

I regularity go to this café as is is the cheapest and the best I have found in the whole Portishead area and good in comparison to Bristol offerings. Its not posh but it provides a great meal before a walk on the sea front. Go! Try it!

So i stopped at the corner cafe for a quick bite and i must say its the best breakfast ive had in a long time cooked perfect the staff was friendly i would go back everyday but my wife said im not allowed

Visiting the town for the first time and brought here by my lovely who had been many times before. Step inside and step back in time into one of Britains few remaining proper cafes. Breakfast was great and just how it should be done. The slight film of grease on the windows is perfect and should be there, along with the dirty tea spoon. If it wasn’t it would take away from the experience of a proper breakfast in a proper cafe. Loved it and the food is great. A must visit if your in town. The best hangover cure you can get.

I had driven past this Caff most days and being Vegan paid little attention as I expected Bacon and eggs to be the most adventurous meal on offer but how wrong I was. They have a fabulous variety of home cooked food from burgers to cottage pie to breakfasts as Vegan options. The girl who served us was really open,friendly and helpful. No frills but genuinely lovely food.

Asked for a portion of small chips and the person who worked there ran to the little corner shop next door and bought frozen chips for £1 and ran back and cooked them in front of me then charged £1.50 for small portion.

Proper old school corner cafe delivering wholesome grub seven days a week from 8am-3pm.It's not a traditional greasy spoon where everything comes with a side order of lard.Apart from the usual suspects in the great British fry-up and burgers and pizzas there are also healthy options like jacket spuds and salads.It's at the quiet end of the high street and all the better for that with free parking.Champion.

Corner cafe is keeping half of Portishead fed with hot and delicious home-delivery meals during lockdowns and in between. Thank you Jim and everyone. You deliver fab food all week to many older people. It was so kind to give Irene her birthday cooked breakfast and refuse to take any payment!! Food is delicious and you are all diamonds. I know it is take away and delivery only at the moment, but when I was seated [as permitted] all hygiene rules were observed.

Everyone we have these pizzas every time we say they can’t get better! Really generous with toppings, arrives on time, hot and polite. Everyone should try one of these which have been a saviour in lockdown. Loads of choice for vegetarians with pizza too!

Sunday Lunch..shopping/eating locally ..delivered to our door! The quality of our two Sunday lunch lunches were outstanding..pulled roast beef and roast lamb...with all the trimmings. A much acclaimed surprise!

Brilliant food and service with a smile. We ordered Sunday Roast,1 lamb and 1 pork for delivery. It arrived on time,it was hot,meat fabulously tender and great selection of veggies. Gravy and sauces really flavoursome. What’s not to like! Thank you to all staff involved,have already recommended your food to family and friends and will continue to do so. Breakfasts always cooked and good quality home cooked meals and roasts to takeaway most of which are under 6quid!. There's plenty of vegan options as well as a selection of homemade cakes and bread pudding, most of which are vegan and 80p a slice (£1 for a massive brick of bread pudding). It's nothing fancy but has friendly staff and good honest food at a consistently good standards.

Nice old fashioned cafe offers good fry ups burgers and proper meals and vegan so there's something for everyone. Great service and a warm welcome. And it's a very good price of you need to watch the pennies. A relaxed atmosphere and a good feed up. What more could you ask for. I highly recommend this cafe.

We went for breakfast on our way from Sussex to Wadebridge. The food was good and the staff very friendly. We would definitely recommend this cafe and would go again. There were lots of regular customers and it was very reasonable.

Found this by accident, only a 5 minute walk from the High Street in Portishead. Well worth it, friendly, clean, great food, and very reasonably priced. It is a cafe, so don'ta expect 5* environment. I will definitely be back.

Something you hardly ever find! Home cooked food, run by a friendly family at a reasonable price. No flash decor but I come for the food and am never disappointed! They even provide newspapers and light music!

Being a vegetarian choices can be often limited,I had the Maz's special it was hot and fresh, I've visited this cafe on several occasions,food is always spot on and so is the service, I've been returning since my first visit and will continue to,which says a lot about the food, Highly recommended!!!

Ok so this place is never going to win a Michelin Star, but I do not care... I love it. Cafes like this that are part of a community, they are a meeting point for the old and young, the cyclist and dog worker and I love it. If you fancy a £5 panini and a £4 super skinny latte with extra cinnamon this is not the place for you. Here you get a great breakfast starting at £4 which includes a coffee (Black or White) or a tea it great service by real people that dress different from each other and don't act like machines. Keep up the great work!! and people of Portishead, get down there in the morning and check it out!!!.

Popped in for breakfast today and was very impressed. Hot, fresh and tasty bacon, sausage, fried bread, fried egg and beans, with a coffee, all for £4. Will call again.

Love the Corner Cafe. Always quick and always good value! The food is always tasty and the staff don't mind taking items off and always offer substitutions.

The breakfast was amazing to look at, however the minute I dipped my bread in my beans, a cold food sensation went through me, sadly a great breakfast served luke warm, I did not say anything as you should not have to say anything, it’s simply you serve food you serve it hot. The breakfast was nice , so I’ll give it another go and hope this was isolated. I hope it was as a nice breakfast cafe is no easy to find. A bit expensive as well if you consider this is a greasy spoon type transport cafe.

We popped down on Sunday with the kids and it's ideal as they have he choice of a roast dinner or something off the kids menu. The kids roast dinner is excellent value at £3 and the adults is only £5.90!

You need a breakfast with no frills then this is the place. Very cheap, lovely efficient service, highly recommended.

I walk past this café every day so me and my dad gave it a try. The food is ok and so is the service but nothing special. I had higher expectations because I have heard a lot about this café.

I will always go here for a big English breakfast. All the choices are modestly priced and there really is nothing I can negatively say about this place. We need more places like this!

If your looking for a straightforward, simple cooked breakfast for a low price, then look no further. The Corner Café is basic, but spotless and totally unpretentious. It is what it is, and that's just fine with me.

Visits were made to Clevedon, Weston Super Mare, Nailsea, Used some of the time to visit family in the area.

Was travelling to Devon from the midlands and needed to get our of the traffic and stop for breakfast so headed to T/A and found this place listed just a few miles off the M5 junction and what a find. parking can be tricky down the side streets but we found a spot OK, doesn't look much from the outside but you get a good breakfast at a good price. worth the detour and much cheaper than the services

A fantastic lazy Sunday. I heard the Corner Cafe sold take away Sunday Roasts so I thought we'd give it a go....absolutely delicious. Rang, placed my order then collected....will definitely be back ☺

We called in for a Sunday roast because I couldn't be bothered to cook - what great value for money! Loads of vegetables, good quality meat in generous portions and lashings of gravy all for under £6. 2 happy customers!

We have been coming here for lunch for a while now and every time we come the staff are very friendly , food is excellent , hot and a great price , we will be back next week .

Went in here because i had to get my tyres done over the road, its a hidden gem! I had one of their normal breakfasts, everything was tasty, friendly staff and great environment. They have a challenge in the corner cafe called the monster mega breakfast it consisted of everything on a breakfast menu, needless to say i will be back to try the challenge!

I went today for quick bite whilst working locally.Omelette was burt,chips awful greasy, beans cheapNot great AT ALL....I commented on it to the waitress and she just shyed off and grinnedCant recommend but,It was busy..Nice staffMaybe a one off....

Pop in here during my MOT day, service basic, place and fitting's basic, did try a large breakfast once, not very good although I were the only one in there with a food order. Tasted like it, or some of it had been lying around from brekky time. Haven for Taxi drivers.

A copious amount of traditional breakfast items, cooked without the rivers of fat, prompt service with smiles. Eased myself into the day. If I had time I would certainly make this my seven days a week breakfast venue. Very reasonably priced. Basic 'greasy spoon' style cafe interior, spotlessly clean and just personal enough. No fuss.

Discovered this café by chance and what a wonderful surprise. Two rounds of toast with 3 cups of tea £3.50! Toast was warm with delicious dripping butter running through - yummy. Had we had time we would have returned for what looked like a lovely homely lunch. Well done!

Serves delicious traditional English breakfasts for a very good price and very fast service. Everyone who works their is friendly as it is a family run business. Would highly recommend!!!

My favourite sarnie is fish fingers not the normal I know but I love them one bite was enough staff was sitting having something to eat it was horrible went once never again such a shame you can't beat a good cafe & this is not a good cafe

There are some days when only a good old fashioned Full English will do and on a very wet Wednesday morning in December the Corner Cafe provided the perfect solution. I ordered my breakfast and it arrived very promptly along with a good strong cup of tea. In these days of skinny lattes and breakfast wraps is so good to find that the Corner Cafe is upholding this great British tradition.

I've never been into a restaurant and been told I cannot order a monster breakfast of my choosing. I was more than happy to pay whatever they wanted for this meal but just got hit with a bunch of stupid rules. All I wanted was a photo to show I've been in the world famous Corner Cafe and take a picture of The World's biggest breakfast to prove it. Anyway, it did not live up to The Daily Mail hype and so left with an empty belly to go elsewhere.

A good proper English Cafe with a quality fry up. The greasy spoon is a dying breed and glad to have found a decent one in Portishead. Quick friendly service with good prices. Bacon was a bit fatty for my liking and not crispy but a minor point. Will definitely return. Better than any other breakfast I've tried in the area. Decent mug of tea.

Love to come here in the mornings for my daily fill, order what you want when you want , polite friendly staff , with lots to offer , great cafe!

We have had Sunday lunch here quite a few times over the last few weeks as we are busy renovating a house. What can I say? Good home cooked fare, lots of lovely vegetables, delicious roast potatoes Yorkshire pudding whatever meat you have plus lots of thick gravy. A real home cooked tasty dinner. Friendly staff. Fabulous!

By chance we stopped for a bite to eat,I was hungry(Nothing new there)lol.I had A ROAST BEEF DINNER, my husband A LAMB ROAST absolutely delicious.That was a year ago.We have been there every Sunday since.My husband has SPOTTED RICHARD for dessert and I have A CHOC CHIP COOKIE to die for for 50p.YES 50p!!!The roast lunch is.............£4.90!!!!!!!!!!The owner is very accommodating and nothing is too much trouble.ALL the staff are always happy and helpful, not because they are told to be, but because they are obviously happy at there place of work. An absolute pleasure to eat there.I have eaten in restaurants that charge the earth but enjoy eating at THE CORNER CAFE the most.REAL value for money

Came here on the way back from Cornwall as I love Portishead. This place is ace! Soooo cheap for a MASSIVE brekky and nice too. Staff were really friendly and would do anything to help. A proper job greasy spoon!

We often go here on a Saturday or Sunday morning. I've been here once for lunch which was lovely, but mainly we order off the breakfast menu.The choice is varied, the price is low and the quality is outstanding.The service is quick and friendly, and never have we had any cause for complaint with the food.I love the corner cafe, and will continue to return week after week :-)

On the advice of a local mechanic myself, my girlfriend and her son decided to breakfast.A proper little "Greasy Spoon" and that is said with affection. The owner/counter chap was a delight and the food was freshly prepared to order. Nice quality bacon and sausages.The price is unbelievably good and you get your tea in a proper mug! We will happily go back when we stay in Portishead again.

Wow what a great find. Cheap prices and food is great Sausages were a bit weak but everything else spot on. We paid £23 for 4 good sized breakfasts and coffeesThere's plenty on the menu with the usual set breakfast depending on price but they easily dealt with us chopping and changing the items on offer. Service was great, friendly and fast. There were a dozen people when we arrived but still plenty of room . There's parking on the street outside.The place only takes cash

I have been here for breakfast twice. Each time the food was excellent. Service was good, fast and just what you want when looking for a good meal, fast. The food is hot, ok quality, the sausages are not the best, but for £3:10 for a breakfast of 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 bacon, beans and fried bread ( I could have had tomato and toast instead) and an extra 50p for a mug of tea what do you expect?Service is quick. I have eaten at a "posh" cafe for breakfast and criticised their service and quality of food. Their breakfast cost £8:50 for almost the same food as here. This place is fantastic!!!! I will be back and the food and service will be as good as ever ( I expect)

We had a Beef and a Chicken Sunday roast lunch takeaway... they were really very good. Meat was nicely done, lots of veg and a Yorkshire Pudding. I even had some horseradish as well as a tasty pot of piping hot gravy (that was real, didn't look or taste granulated). Fantastic value - we would highly recommend The Corner Cafe for a Sunday roast.

Have visited this café on a number of occasions and the food has always been served quickly and hot. All that you want from a breakfast is here and there are 3 sizes to choose from. I will return.

Really top notch breakfasts here - vege and regular full English. Really cheap but really good food. 2nd time eating here and will come back again when next in the area.

Great place for good English Breakfast. Not many of these establishments left these days.... Lots of variety, 3 sizes of breakfasts on offer and availability to swap things about if you a fussy like me... frieldly staff, clean and tidy..

This cafe was recommended by our hotel staff. It was exactly what we wanted no frills. Large full English breakfast with tea for about £5. Spot on.
