We had Takeaway fish and chips whilst on holiday. Delicious and freshly cooked to order. Would recommend . Very reasonable prices too.

They were busy,but served cans without glasses. Chips were the worst I had ever tasted. We bought six buns on the way out,all inedible ,hard and dry had to throw them out.not good.

This place was recommended by our campsite and the queues out the door suggested it was a popular place. To say it didn’t live up to expectations is an understatement! We pre-ordered fish and chips by phone. Very friendly and accommodating gentleman took the order and said it would be ready in 15 mins. We duly went down to pick up to find a massive queue, order not ready and we’d have to take our turn with everyone else. We waited a good 20 minutes (ok a busy night) but the fish and chips were dire. They looked and smelled old. The fish was overcooked and in rubbery batter and ships not much better. Maybe we were just unlucky and it was an off night but I certainly won’t be going back.

Have returned 4 times already. Now our regular. Lovely Fish&Chips and pleasant staff. Would recommend. No pictures to show, Sorry too busy eating...

Visited this week with my husband and we both had lovely breakfasts with great coffee. The menu is affordable and service friendly, we’ll be back soon!

Tried buying our bread here for a while but the loaves are inconsistent in quality. Sometimes they're under baked, other times they're under proofed. Crumbling bread does not make good sandwiches! Other times our order was ignored / forgotten.

We stopped by to pick up some fish and chips and of course a curry sauce. The staff were absolutely lovely, welcoming and friendly. The cafe was bustling which was wonderful to see, and it didn’t take long to realise why! The food is fab and we will be visiting frequently! Well priced, generous portions and delicious food. We just had a granary egg mayonnaise roll, tuna and salad sandwich & drinks. Lovely and fresh, waitress was very helpful when I requested a window to be opened and very good value too! Will be back when passing through & thank you!

The owner makes an extra effort to make me feel the a valued customer and it is always a pleasure to visit for our weekly take away treat. The food and service is excellent. Thank you all the staff.

Despite all the covid restrictions mask wearing not being allowed to eat in etc Nick and his team continue to supply the very best fish and chips in the area .Well cooked ,batter to die for, lovely fish, chips perfect and crispy well wrapped so stay hot .I reviewed the chippy 5 years ago and the Corner Cafe goes from strength to strength .The prices are fair the staff are a credit to Nick and his Family So if you really want true value for money give em a try you wont be disappointed.Thanks.

Just had our fish a d chip dinner here, absolutely loved it. The staff were so friendly and helpful, good price very large fish nice chips.

We've been visiting the Corner Cafe for many years. Nick and his wife & all the staff are so friendly and obliging. Our favourite meal is battered sausage/egg/chips washed down with refreshing cloudy lemonade...... recommended by Nick. Occasionally we pop in of a morning & love a bacon roll, the bacon cooked just as we ask for....crispy. The bread rolls are super fresh. This cafe is excellent value for money........with a touch of amusing banter.

I don't usually write reviews but felt on this I occasion I would, as I can honestly say we had the best cod and chips that we've had in a long time. Our food was freshly cooked and very hot. Staff were very friendly, as was the owner and the prices were extremely reasonable. Don't know where the 'absolutely disgusting ' reviewer could have eaten but judging by his description I don't think it was here!

We always use this cafe/fish and chips shop. The staff and owners are so friendly and committed to there work the food from bakery to the day menu in to the evening menu is superb they cook to order so all ways hot and fresh in 5 years we have used this place for we have never had to complain about anything that they provide for the community. Defentetly highly recommended.

I cannot believe anyone can rate this as 'the best fish and chips'. The chips looked old and were just disgusting with a piece of frozen fish. Service was slow and the owners attitude was belligerent and rude when he couldn't get his card machine to work. Somewhere to be avoided at all costs!

Beautiful Cod and chips. Cooked to perfection..Very helpful staff in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Stayed open over time for 20 minuets so I could have my dinner, superb fish and chips and peas and bread and butter, excellent friendly service. The cafe was extremely clean and tidy, all tables were wiped down and ready to sit at.

We stopped here for breakfast whilst passing through and it was your typical corner cafe (meant in a very good way) our breakfast was very tasty and from what I can remember was also very good value for money! The waitress was very nice and we also bought some cakes to take with us on our travels.

Hands down the worst chips I've ever had. They smell burnt look burnt and taste burnt. Staff seem very friendly to all the locals getting their food and some who came in after me got their food 1st, thought that was as I was getting fish but not so sure now.

It was a pity this visit wasn't as good as usual. The chips weren't very hot or fresh. Good menu for a chippy and good size portions. Very busy on Saturday lunchtime, could have explained problem. Service was a bit slow.

I have just had the most tasty fish and chips I have ever had. The fish was succulent, the batter was crispy yet not greasy. The mushy peas were delicious!

We had lunch here because it was the only cafe open in Holsworthy by the time we got to town. Good range of snacks and meals on the menu, quick service and friendly staff. Prices very good and food was nice. Nothing fancy just good honest lunch food. Recommended.

Stopped in here to grab a quick tea on the way home from Barnstaple. Shop seemed busy which is usually a good sign that it’s good food. Turns out the shop was busy because of appalling organisation, 35 minutes stood waiting from paying to the food being passed over the counter with no apology for the delay.

honestly, it doesn't look like much... Its dated, and looks a bit like a rundown cafe (or at least did to me) BUT I highly recommend it! The food was lovely, I had a bacon cheese role - and it was luscious and the cakes all looked so yummy. And it's not expensive either. Pop in for a lunch here.

As usual when on holiday we always pay a visit to the best chip shop. If you order fish you get the biggest tastiest fish ever. Mick the owner was again a fantastic host always interested in his customers.it is a unique cafe as it offers not only fish and chips but a varied menu as well as a bakery and cakes. For a fantastic experience you will never forget if you are near Holsworthy in Devon you must pay Mick a visit. See you next year

We stopped for lunch following the local market, staff very friendly, food served very hot, beautiful cup of tea and coffee, nothing too much trouble. Cakes looked tempting but we were too full to try. Bread i purchased there previous Friday stayed fresh all week whereas same loaf purchased in Tesco would have gone off by Tuesday/Wednesday. Will be going there again!!

Stopped here for lunch on our weekend away, nice food, good price and the bakery part offered a huge selection of cakes and treats.

We have visited this lovely friendly cafe on several occasions and always have the great fish and chips which we find are the best aroun here for miles. The service is friendly and efficient and everyone has a smile. We have even been to Padstow for fish and chips and it doesn’t come up to this standard. This place comes high recommend.

Everything cooked fresh on the premises. Excellent pasties and wraps, excellent cakes, tarts, pies other sweet goodies, superb fish and chips. Nick and his staff never fail to please!

We visited just before they closed at lunchtime. This is a good old fashioned cafe with lovely waitress service. There was a choice of battered fish, I had Sole, my husband haddock and my brother in law cod. All were piping hot, beautiful crispy batter yet perfectly cooked soft and moist fish inside. It is well worth a visit.

Terrible...food was dripping in grease and fat, chips were all a combination of old potatoes,uncooked and greasy.

We drove over to the town to have a look around. Wanting to grab a breakfast we found this place. Looked ok at first. Lady who served us was pleasant and was trying her best.

Visited on a Monday morning. Not especially busy. Bit of a wait. My drink was finished way before my sausage and egg bap arrived. It was delicious but would have been great if I had a drink at the same time. Nice clean cafe overlooking the quayside.

This is not your normal little Cafe.

This is a good quality and priced fish and chips shop in this area. fresh cooked but you do not have to wait very long. you can sit and wait for your meal and have a drink whilst you wait. They also have a lovely clean restaurant with very friendly staff there to serve you. Would strongly advise people to use this venue rather than any other in the area.

The fish and chips here is second to none. It's amazing. Not greasy, massive portions, proper chipped potatoes. Light crispy batter, fish plentiful. It's also incredibly reasonable as far as prices go! Where the chip portions are so large, we find that one or two portions can feed 3 of us with many left over.

Visited with our lab retriever puppy. Nick and co. welcomed us. Super tasty fish and chips, well priced and superb customer service.

Went here for fish and chips with our 9 year old twins. The cafe is quite quaint. The staff very friendly. The fish and chips were fabulous. Great value for money, £28 for the four of us to eat in including drinks and bread and butter. Will be visiting again.

Had a really well-priced lunch for a family of 4. Plenty of choice and prices were keen. Old interior a little battered but great service. Was busy with all sorts of customers so that is a good sign. Will come back again.

I am a carer who takes a wheel chair bound lady out twice a week, she likes to have agood old english meal out to save her from having to prepare a meal when she gets home. Quite hard to find between Launceston Bude Tavistock, then we found Cousins Corner Cafe in Hollsworthy, Soo welcoming staff greet you to open doors with wheel chair escort you to available seating. Great food home baked cakes and puddings with the best value for money we,ve found. The jolly manager also mingles with his customers to check they are happy and share a joke or two. We also have help to exit with our wheel chair, very rare.. I can not recommend this family run place enough, great

I've been in hear a few times now and I must say the quality of the fish and chips are very good,the fish is normally cooked to order making it fresh and tasty, unlike most of the other places in This area who tend to cook up a batch and if your lucky you will end up with a nice bit but more likely it's been in the tray for ages, and is scankey

This may just look like a sad old cafe but you would be wrong. All the locals use it.. All home made cakes. Real fish and propper chips. Not frozen. They do a nice roast of the day. And egg and chip all the favourite meals at good prices. Good staff. Nice and quick.

Decided to try this fish and chip shop,what a disappointment we ordered 3 large cod and chips, they was certainly large ALL BATTER NO FISH. I don't even know if it was cod you could not tell because there was not enough of it.Will not be using this shop again. DISAPPOINTING

This has got to be the the most amazing chippy ever. Mike is the most friendly host you will meet. The fish and chips are to die for and the portions are huge. But why unusual where can you get bread,cakes and food on the menu from a full roast dinner to salad as well as all the usual food you would expect in a chippy.Every time we go to Woodford bridge we have to visit this café of distinction try it you will never be disappointed.

stuck in a time zone everything looks old and tired, slightly falling apart staff look scruffy and rushed even when theres barely any people but generally friendly food quality differs alot.

I cook for a living, so I'm usually quite fussy about eating out, but after a 6 hour drive through the night I was in need of a fry up and a cup of coffee, and was really pleasantly surprised by this little café.I don't know how they do it, but every element of my meal was perfect; crispy bacon, runny eggs, and strong, sweet coffee, even from a one-button machine. I've now moved to the area and will be a regular patron there. Can't wait to try a fish supper!

When we go on our holidays we never eat at the same place twice but we made an exception here as the haddock and cod fish and chips tasted fabulous. I'm a bit of a fish and chip connoisseur as live in a seaside town and yet never have I tasted fish and chips so delicious. Fish was fresh and in no way greasy. Chips were perfectly fluffy on the inside. Just delicious! Even our fussy 9yr old loved it. Served by welcoming staff. Owner very friendly and listening to his accent was a real treat. In our opinion their prices are far too cheap, would pay double for what's on offer. 2 teabags given in teapot for 1, plus large pot of hot water to weaken if needed to enjoy numerous cups of teas. Excellent value and a superb experience. Will highly recommend to all my friends and family.

Old fashioned style but super service and tasty food. The level of service goes beyond good. The scrambled eggs and toast were well presented and piping hot. We went again a few days later and the standard was just as good.

Popped into holsworthy for a supermarket visit and stopped here for a very affordable lunch. The waitress was so welcoming and kind, extremely happy to provide a large jug of water for us. We had various different meals which were enjoyed immensely. The cod and chips was melt in the mouth delicious. the chips were hand cut and freshly cooked. The portions are generous and the prices very reasonable. We'll definitely go again during our holiday. Highly recommend to all families.

We had gone to Holsworthy to look at a flat that was for rent, being lunch time we asked a local to recommend a place where we could get a decent meal and she recommended The Corner Café.My partner had the roast beef and I chose the Cod and chips with mushy peas, now my partner is extremely fussy and asked if the beef was tender and the waitress assured her that all those who had had it had remarked how good it was and said " no one has left any on the plate yet", at which others in the café agreed with her and laughed at her lovely sense of humour, well Jennifer never left any on the plate either, she loved it, as for my Cod and chips, I can honestly say its been a very very long time since I had a meal that was so delicious, it was beautiful and just melted in the mouth.Now I have been to many place here and abroad, most of the time the fish and chips I have had have smelt better than they have tasted, this was different, it was just perfect and I highly recommend it to anyone.

this is our local chippy and have the oap special often & its cooked fresh to order. you can sit down to eat in the restaurant which serves a good menu. Also you can buy fresh baked bread, cakes, pasties & pies which are all yummy

Always go to the Corner Cafe when visiting my grandmother and have done so since I was a child. It is a very charming cafe and the food is, and has always been great. Waiting times are very short and the staff are great.

I have been again to the corner cafe for fish and chips to make sure that the quality was the same. I can assure anyone that visits the corner cafe that the quality is still excellent and you can also eat in the restaurant and the PRICES ARE VERY RESONABLE.

This looks like an old fashioned café, and on a cold wet day, the steamed up windows looked inviting.Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The food does not live up to the image.I was expecting something special from my steak pasty, but you can get better from a garage.The cake was dry, and to me tasted of nothing more than cheap ingredients.

Worst chips I've eaten in a very very long time. At least 3/4 of the chips were utterly uncooked, and the grease was just disgusting. Staff need a slap and told to at least 'smile'. Will never eat here again without booking a heart bypass first. Fish dripping with fat, chips mostly uncooked. Left it in a lay by for the birds.

We try to drop into this cafe as often as possible in fact that I make any excuse I can to go into Holsworthy. This visit was on cold, wet, miserable December's evening and the joy of ham, egg & chips cooked to perfection cannot be described. Sheer delight. The service was fast and by a very pleasant young lady who was a credit to the establishment. I had to hold back on gorging on all the beautiful; cakes & pastries but they are for my next visit. The owner is friendly and welcoming. Cannot fault this 'real' cafe should be i.e. not a one of those cloned chains! This is how I remember eating out should be! Can't wait for my next visit. Good job we are only 12 miles away! Yippee!

Just had sausage chips and curry sauce from here and it cost £3.09 and the portion size with shocking the portion of curry sauce was bigger than the portion of chips that wouldn't even fill up a child. The curry sauce was like water. So won't be returning.

Although the decor is a little dated the cafe is quaint and very clean,the food and service are brilliant and good value for money

My friends and my wife had our tea at the CORNER CAFE in Holsworthy Square today Sat 12/09/15 and it was the BEST FISH AND CHIPS THAT WE ALL HAVE TASTED the fish was cooked to perfection a nice crispy batter all the way thru and the chips were perfectly cooked NOT OILY AT ALL and we also had proper mushy peas my wife had a small portion and that was to much for her. As I said very well worth the wait for the fish and chips as the are cooked to order so it is super fresh. Highly Recommended and the price was very reasonable.

I was moving to the area so went here for lunch as knew no better. Never again is all I can say. I think it was expensive for the quality and the cafe could do with updating and cleaning.

After spending a very pleasant day in Bude, North Cornwall we travelled back to Holsworthy in North Devon & decided to stop for a break & have something to eat as we were all feeling hungry. After a short walk around this old country town we came across '' The Corner Café '' which looked rather inviting & there was the aroma of freshly cooked fish & chips permeating out of the entrance of this establishment ! We needed no further enticement & went in & sat down at a table near the window. On inspection of the menu which was very comprehensive we chose a variety of fried fish & some drinks & after a short while our drinks & fish courses were brought to us by a very friendly & helpful young lady & on sampling this food we all found it to be very tasty indeed, the fish was very fresh & the batter was beautifully crisp as were the home cooked chips. After a short while the owner Nick Cousins a very friendly gentleman came out to see if the food was to our satisfaction & we confirmed that this was the case. We had a discussion with Nick about the town & surrounding areas & he was very informative. All in all we had a very pleasant period of time in this cafe & would strongly recommend it to all people who like good wholesome food at a very reasonable price !!

Sometimes the most down to earth looking places have the best food. Our family group dined here for lunch mostly because it was in our path during a road trip, but also because the Google reviews were promising. Wow. Outstanding haddock and chips. Best I've ever had in the UK -- (and yes, I've eaten many a time at the Anstruther Fish House, and it doesn't compare to this, surprisingly.) We had wonderful, fast service from a very nice waitress. My son got the roast of the day -- beef -- with an excellent Yorkshirie pudding. We also had cod and chips -- wonderful -- and a Cornish pasty. All were extraordinarily good. Would love to dine again but will not likely pass through Holsworthy so I wanted to write this review so that others might be encouraged to enjoy this special place. There is no ambiance, just good, well-prepared food. The best we had during our long vacation in Cornwall & Devon.

All four of us had fish and chips here. The food was very good and the portions were a good size. The service was pleasant and efficient. The café doesn’t seem to be licensed to sell alcohol but there is a good choice of drinks (and food, too). All in all, we had a nice dinner and it was good value for money.

Have been coming to this part of the country for over 30 years.OK, not much to look at here, but boy the fish and chips, i rate it up there with the likes of Rick Stiens,Harry Ramsdens.Staff have always been friendly,quick service, generous portions and excellent value. We enjoy our fish & chips here every Friday.Cooked to perfection with great mushy peas and amazing milk shake.This restaurant is not posh. It is very clean and staff are friendly and helpful.You may want to wear an additional fleece as there is not much heating.
