Visited yesterday for a drink before having food in Sale. Great selection of wine, attentive staff nice atmosphere. Nice place to try different wines. We will be back to try the cheese board.

Had my 60th birthday celebrations here with friends and family on a Sunday afternoon. Staff were so friendly and the party was a huge success. Will certainly be visiting here again. Highly recommended. Thanks for making my birthday an afternoon to remember.

Came to hang out with friends as it seemed different but the manager made our stay just hell. mocking us telling us to be quiet. i wont be returning and will be spreading the word wide not to go here. The wine wasnt great either to add to that and youre rushed around with your order. definitely agree its not a place to enjoy yourself

The biggest problem with this bar, is that the supermarket wine that you previously bought will never taste as good again! Great selection of wines from all over the world, lovely calm atmosphere, friendly, helpful knowledgeable staff. Spent a very pleasant hour chatting to the new manager at the bar and enjoyed a very nice glass of wine,

we booked a table for 5 stating Manchester Branch over the phone. arrived and the manager advised he wasnt aware of a booking advising we dialled the general number. he put us in the back and said it was fine but was aggressive and rude pretty much from there on out. told our table of 4 introverts to be quiet while he speaks to another group of people at one point in in an aggressive way not polite. asked the waitress why he is being rude to us she said he is stressed. cancelled our order and left. wont return and feel bad for the waitress that has to work with him. If you were going to be rude from the start or were that bothered by the error in your general management team you should have stated we cannot come in not endure your passive aggressive projecting on to us. i think people should try the restaurant but just be aware this branch has a passive aggressive manager which could ruin your evening. As you can tell i never right reviews but this guy needs an attitude check by someone repeating his frustrations on us he is lucky we had patience to endure that but props to the waitress for apologising on his behalf.

This gem of a wine shop is fantastic. It has a huge selection of quality wines, and the wine tasting was fun. Friendly staff, good music and good vibes.

just popped in on way home with my wife …. 2 glasses of Rose ….£19 i was charged…. person behind the bar was on phone taking reservations i assume so i just asked for 2 glasses of Rose and asked if it was suitably chilled and i would pay by card ……. that was the amount of of our conversation …. busy on phone she poured the wine etc and i swiped my card ….. too late ….on way to table i was notified by my bank it was £19 !!!……. later my wife queried it and was told cant he read ….. pointing at blackboard on wall behind bar …. from memory i cant remember Rose was listed but i maybe wrong but £19

Mid to expensive wines but lots you won't have seen or tried before. Helpful, knowledgeable advice and nice place to spend an hour so sharing a decent bottle with friends or family.

Awful experience. Jammed between a couple practically having sex at the table & lads shouting & screaming & shouting that it was going to be a great night!, tables literally 2 inches apart. Was told that my drink would be brought to me, but after about 10; minutes seeing the waitress chatting at the bar, I got up to order my drink (again), was told "oh this is your prosecco" which had been waiting at the bar getting warm for 10 minutes. Paid at the bar using Google pay, but when we left an employee ran after us down Heaton Moor road shouting "excuse me, there's a prosecco that hasn't been paid for!". So embarrassed, never ever felt so humiliated in my life! Will never go here again. Wanted a nice quiet evening, drinking nice wine, ended up being humiliated. Would give zero stars if I could!

The service is absolutely amazing and very personal. The wine is superb and the cheese boards 😋. We definitely recommend going to this amazing bar and attending as many of the events as possible as you are made to feel like royalty.

Popped back in recently for a drink now it has re-opened. Mark and his team have done a superb job making it safe, whilst maintaining the ambience we all love the place for. Easy to book, great system in place, and felt super secure in our little "pod". Will be back soon hopefully. Well done guys. Brilliant!

We’ve not been for a while as it’s been closed due to covid. We’ve really missed it, can’t wait for it to reopen. Fab choice of wines and great service.

We came to celebrate a special birthday and we could have not been made more welcome. We shared our plans in advance and Beth really looked after us sharing her knowledge about the different types of fizz and answering our questions, it was a personalised tasting. The evening was a surprise for the birthday girl and she loved it. Thank you Beth, it was just what we wanted.

I do like it here but...Somewhat noisy on a Saturday night...to be expected and be aware...Its card only! I do like it here and have always given 4 or 5*. My only dissapointment last night was the attitude of some of the staff. One was terrific, i found (imho) that a couple of the staff were a tad aloof. Its a people business!

We were meeting before going to dinner. We had been to the sister shop in Heaton Moor which was really good and this one was equally so. It was a quick visit but it had nice decor, a nice ambiance with a great choice of wine. The tasting wines looked good and they had the platters available as in Heaton moor which were lovely when we had them there.Next time I will spend moe time.

Never fails to disappoint. Great staff and great vibe. Super range of drinks! This a top place to relax in great surrounds, with a great range of wines and beers from the fridge. Highly reccomended.

The staff really care about what they are doing. Many interesting wines are always on offer, with expert advice on hand to help you decide. I’ve had the wine flight a few times and it has always been excellent. Some bar snacks are also available. Great range of beers, too!The bar is cashless, so make sure that you bring your credit card!

Exploring Sale, we left the canal for the High Street. This wine bar is a lovely place. Knowledgeable, friendly staff and some great wines. Nibbles are just right and you are encouraged to taste before you buy. We were so impressed.

Excellent service, fantastic selection of wine also bought a bottle for home so we will be back soon.

This is a review of the Heaton Moor Cork of the North. I cant see a seperate place to review. Too place. The decor...The vibes...The Staff. Very good in all ways and a grear cheeseboard. I travel two stops on the train to come here. Well worth it!

Wonderful place filled to the brim with delicious wines to drink in or take away. Everyone who works there are so helpful, from assisting with your selection to finding you a table during busy spells. Lovely atmosphere, great little nibbles and good spot to watch the world go by.

Me and my wife came here for the first time on Friday for a bottle of nice wine. The selection was really good and we treated ourselves to a nice bottle of Chablis

It is a nice little cosy place in Sale. Loved the decor and the selection of gin although it is for wine mainly. I would definitely visit again and share a bottle of vino the next time round

We have been regular customers of cork of the North but unfortunately no longer due to the pretentious attitude of the owner of this establishment that has so much to offer but disappoints in its delivery. You would think that customers would be welcomed and polite 'chit chat' would be 'tolerated'. Alas no, the customer comes second to the feelings of the upity attitude of the owner. Well no longer will I be felt like a second class citizen after handing over £30 for a bottle of wine. I think I'll just stroll next door to Number6 where the customer always comes first.

Is it a wine bar? Is it a wine shop? Better! It's both! Love visiting here when time allows. Their sporadic wine tasting evenings are also great. A welcome addition to Sale.

Visited this place with my wife for the first time as it was recommended by several people. We only intended on having a couple of drinks before moving on, but we ended up staying in there the whole evening. The atmosphere is great, the range of drinks perfect and staff really professional and chatty. We thouroughly enjoyed our evening and will be visiting more often in the future.

I can't find the TA account for the new venue in Heaton Moor, so gate crashing this one. Newly opened in Heaton Moor and what not to like! Super interior. Great selection and some lovely IPA s. Good snacks and very friendly staff. If you pick up this review, very interested in the wine tasting evenings.

This was my very first Wine tasting evening and I didn’t know what to expect - would it be some Silly Gilly harping on about honey notes and aromas I’m not getting and me thinking it was a case of Emperor’s new clothes - i.e. load of rubbish? Well actually it was a really brilliant night for me and my friends and seemingly everyone in the place - Linda perfectly pitched the night which was relaxed, a lot of fun and informative. The chosen wines (from Chile) were delicious and paired with perfect nibbly bits! We all came away very happy, slightly tiddly and actually learned something - not the usual night out! Thanks COTN and thanks Linda, you were ace! We’ll definitely be back.

My husband and I visited on Friday night, it was our second visit, and on both occasions we have had a lovely evening. There’s a great choice of wine, the staff are super helpful and on hand to make suggestions of what you might like, and the atmosphere is really buzzing. We enjoyed the wine flight and the cheese board - and were pleased with both. We will definitely be returning and so happy to see somewhere like this in our local town centre!

If you like wine and are sick of paying ridiculous prices in a restaurant or bar for the same bottles that normally retail 1/3 cheaper in a shop then CORK OF THE NORTH IS A MUST VISIT. This is not only a winebar (serving simple but delicious food), but also a wine shop with knowledgable staff. Wine is at retail prices and If you want to drink in, you pay an £8 corkage fee which is nothing compared to what restaurants make. I normally go in and spend what I'd usually spend (corkage included) in a restaurant or bar on a wine. The price/quality ratio is at least double what I normally experience in a bar or restaurant and often the wine is something recommended, unusual and delicious, rather than the generic New Zealand Sauvignon, Chablis, Bordeaux, Argentinian Malbec. They have proper examples (not just bog standard big brand ones) of those wines too, but just so much more to try beyond. All in all a fantastic little place conducive to truly memorable experiences, which is what going out should be. GO!

This place has by far the best customer service I have ever experienced. The wine list is rather large and intimidating as you first make your way to the bar but within minutes the owner had asked me what flavours and wines I usually like, given me tasters of 3 wines and found a different wine for all 5 of us. He also recommended great cheeses and nibbles to go with our wines. Great atmosphere, cosy yet contemporary.

I had my first visit to Cork of the North last week and I loved it. I don't know much about wine apart from knowing that I like drinking it! The staff were really helpful and took their time with me and my friend. We tried one of their wine flights each and had cheese board (loads of cheese for the money!). I tried a wine i had never heard of (which was delicious!) as well of my favourite, malbec with a shiraz. I liked it so much that I'll be back again next week.

You might be able to get away with somewhere like this in Knutsord or Alderley Edge but am surprised this place is still up and running. Expensive and not welcoming one bit. Pricey wines in very carefully measured glasses. Seating uncomfortable, and lighting too bright. My one and only visit..

We have been coming here since it opened in 2016 and it gets better and better. The choice of wines is fantastic with new and interesting additions consistently. They hold great events such as wine tastings and wine fairs but best of all is the atmosphere in the bar, we always have a great night out there. Definitely my favourite place in Sale.

Very welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Great selection of drinks. Had several glasses of a very pleasant Pinot Noir and a couple of gins from a local producer over the course of two visits over the weekend. The small plate of food I ordered whilst waiting for my friend arrived promptly and was very tasty.

Recommended by a friend, I went to the Cork on 23/01/2018. Superb wines, great food and excellent knowledge of food/wine pairings by the staff.

So delighted that Sale has the Cork (as we refer to it) - it was very much needed here and we love it. Beautifully decorated, friendly staff and stunning wines and nibbles to go with it. Staff are always on hand to recommend the wines and we usually enjoy a wine flight, taking away a bottle of something new which they found for us. Take all our friends here too who love it nearly as much as we do! Recommend to all wine lovers!

Cork is now a favourite haunt. Lazy Sunday afternoons, cheeky after work wine flight or a booze tasting session. Reach a little deeper into your pockets and enjoy all that Cork has to offer, including their tasty food plates.

Met some friends here last night before dinner. We enjoyed some lovely white rioja. Will definitely be back for more and to try some of their food platters.

Whenever I visit Manchester, my home city, I always call in here, sometimes for an evening drink with family and friends, sometimes an afternoon drink and chat with an old mate, sometimes to buy some bottles to bring back down south where I live in sorry exile from Manchester. It's a top place, the best bar I know. I love wine, i love to discover new wine and love that the staff here are so helpful and generous. I can't wait to visit again.

Cork of the North is a fantastic addition to Sale. There is a great selection of wine by the bottle or glass, as well as ales, gins and ciders. The nibbles menu also perfectly compliments the wine. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the music always fantastic (but non-intrusive). As locals, we regularly visit and haven't had a bad experience yet.

This is not a restaurant it is a wine bar and a very good one at that. Opened in March last year it is a great little place for a glass of wine or two and some meats and cheeses to accompany the wine. The staff are extremely friendly and know their wine. My husband and I decided to spend NYE here and it was a lovely evening. We had a wine flight with meat and cheese to go with it. The atmosphere was really nice. It is only small with around 40 seats but they say good things come in small packages and in this case that is certainly true. If you like your wine then I highly recommend this little gem.

Two of us popped in for a bottle of wine and a cheese board early on Saturday night. The wine was excellent and the cheese sublime, but the best thing was the very excellent service! Our wines were carefully picked, and we got to taste before buying our bottle, and the bar staff were just so NICE. The relaxed ambience is lovely. Well worth a visit!

I have been there for a drink with some friends and the place is clean and tidy with soft music that make you feel good, the owner is really kind and prepared on the wines history and taste you can tell that he loves this job!! what else?? Oh yes of course the wines are very good!! and there is a big choice

We went for a quick drink before dinner and ended up staying much longer as it was such good fun. Although it was a Sunday night it was busy so we sat at the bar. The other drinkers were friendly and the owner recommended us all a range of wines. Really looking forward to going back.

This is our second visit to COTN and it's been great. Mark (proprietor) has loads of suggestions to take you out of your wine comfort zone. And we weren't dissapointed.

New-ish small wine bar open on main road in Sale...cosy...but - as with most wine bars these days, not cheap. Hard to get a glass for less than £6.50, which is OK...but if you have a couple, why not buy a bottle at around £11? Atmosphere OK-ish...but nothing special. Be good for a glass before going for a meal elsewhere....SLIGHTLY pretentious...but aren't MOST wine bars?!

Recently stopped off here for a pre-dinner drink. Was busy, but staff were working hard to ensure every one was severed quickly. Nice chilled atmosphere. Had a glass of prosecco which was lovely. Will definitely be visiting again, would recommend!

Small place, probably seats no more than about 15-20 people. Basically a wine shop with tables so you can try the variety of very interesting and unusual wines.

A very comfortable pleasant wine bar with lots of choice, and a chance to buy and take bottles away. Very enterprising. Recommendations chalked up on a blackboard, but wine gravity and some brief tasting notes on there would help though. Pleasant smiling staff, decent enough service, but given the overall size of the bar perhaps they might consider table service for orders. Clearing tables from the glasses and crockery left by departed customers seemed quite slow on this, our first visit. They were advertising and taking bookings for some themed tasting evenings. We are looking forward to returning.

Just returning home from a business meeting with a lot of time to kill. As a lover of white wine , decided to stop for a drink here. I have observed it on different occasion in the evenings and are usually very busy especially weekends. Expectedly it's quiet. Lots of the wine brands are strange to me and I asked the bartender for a recommendation which she did. I enjoyed and loved the wine. The ambiance was very comforting . Although I expected to see some old and classic wine , that was not to be. Overall it was a worthwhile experience to kick off TGIF

Took a friend to celebrate her birthday; arrived at 1pm left at 6.30pm!! - long lunch.!! Enjoyed finding out about the wines by the glass which we were able to taste. We had a cheese board which had 5 different cheeses to try.

Great bar and the quality for price is more than reasonable. Glasses of wine vary from around £3.99 to £10.99 (champagne) knowledgeable staff and lovely atmosphere. Very impressive cheese board and other great nibbles. Local bottled beers available and locally distilled gins.

A breath of fresh air. You can choose a bottle from vast range for sale and pay just for a glass. They then will put the bottle behind the bar and sell to other customers. Really knowledgeable as well. Five stars.

Small wine bar with an excellent selection, also has some bottled beer too. Offers bowls of crisps/nuts and the table, which is a nice touch. The owner is very nice and usually on hand to give advice on wine selection. Gets very busy at weekends.

This is a new concept for Sale.. Wine cellar with the ability to drink and socialise in the evening. It is great but remember to take your wallet and credit card.. The glass prices start at about £5 and you can ease your way up to £17 for 'a glass of wine' yep, £17 and higher.. Should you decide to buy a bottle off the shelf and have it opened, corkage was initially £7 but I am told it is now £10 (don't quote me on that) just a heads up that you need to be prepared to pay a large supplement on top of a bottle if you decide to buy off the shelf.. Irrespective, bottom line is that this place is long over due in Sale and is a great place to socialise and drink wines that have not been lingering on a discount shelf in Tesco's since 1998 !!

Love this place and it is the perfect place to sit, chat and unwind after a busy day. It's new and still 'bedding in' so don't expect this to be typical by the time you go. We picked a day when some couples were in with shrieking babies. Every child cries - no problem with that, but letting your child squeal/scream/cry for 40 minutes plus (we left ) is too much and not challenged by the staff.

Seen a few bars like this crop up and as a wine enthusiast I can honestly say that this one stands out. The choice of wines was really good, I found a couple which I have struggled to find elsewhere. Good location and nice decor are an added bonus

Really enjoyed a recent night out at this bar. Great location, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, fabulous decor. Cork of the North has a vast selection of wines to all tastes. I would definitely recommend this bar to anyone wishing to spend a night out in Sale.

Such a lovely addition to Sale. We enjoyed tasting and learning about the wines whilst choosing our favourite bottle. The place is chilled with a good atmosphere, but did get a bit busy later on. Love it though and it's going to be a regular haunt.

This is a quality wine bar with very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Sale is developing into a hotspot for independent bars and this one is more than helping the town on its way.

A quiet spot, friendly staff, top end of reasonable prices. Limited whisky and beer choice but enough to keep non wine drinkers happy.

I've never been to a wine bar with such an amazing selection of wines. There seem to be hundreds to choose from and the wines we had were brilliant. There's not a huge amount of room but we all managed to get seats and the staff were really friendly. If you like wine then I definitely recommend.

Having lived in Sale for well over 10 years, it is refreshing to finally have a nice bar to enjoy a quite brink with friends. While there isn't a huge amount of room in here, they have made the most of the space. The ladies behind the bar were very friendly and knowledgeable. It is expensive but there's nowhere in Sale that can compete. Chilled music , fantastic selection of alcohol, great staff_ perfect spot for a drink after work or a night out at the weekend.

Wine tasting evening hosted by the owner. Great wine, great choices of nibbles to pair with the food and very informative host. We regularly drop by for a glass of wine or to pick up a bottle to take home. A great venue with terrific staff.

I have to say that the guys here are amazing, funny and knowledgable. Did. Wine tasting night and ended up here all night. Persuaded the owner to put us on list to be invited to every event, highly entertaining and looking forward to next one!

We called in for early drinks on Friday evening. The bar staff couldn't have been lovelier - and in contrary to other feedback on here we found the owner was really helpful and friendly - He went through the different wines on the board and helped me choose a wine based on what I usually like. My husband was drinking beer and he told him all about the brewery in Manchester where it was brewed so it didn't seem a problem that he wasn't drinking wine.

I went in over the weekend and can honestly say I was bowled over by the welcoming friendly environment- not to say the awesome wine selection!!

Nice place, different from anything else on offer in sark but clear that the owners who double as bar staff lack front of house customer service experience... Rude, arrogant and lacking in interpersonal skills. I'd recommend that they consider hiring staff who have the skills to build rapport with customers to encourage return visits and give the place a bit more atmosphere... You're in the suburbs, no room for ego and bad manners if you want to survive in the long term

The guy that runs/ owns this bar is a pompous snob! 4 of us, we asked what beer they had on ( as one of us didn't fancy a wine) Response ' we are a wine bar (as if we were stupid) and then in a delayed response he said , however we do have a few bottles of beer if you like but WE ARE PREDOMINANTLY A WINE BAR. I'm not sure alienating your customers is a good thing because if there is a crowd of you , not everyone drinks wine , so next time we won't bother. And it was extremely expensive

Very good wine selection here across the continents and grape varieties. Excellent on-line sales runnig alongside but the quality of wine and advice is excellent.
