Nº 456 in 547 in Cotswold

Probably the worst Sunday lunch I have ever had, I was told I cannot order a children’s (or smaller size potion) as I am not a child, despite me saying I have a digestive issue and cannot eat large meals. The potatoes arrived practically raw, hard boiled and not a “crispness” in sight, I actually sent them and they came back when everyone else had finished so I decided to take them home instead of eating in my own, everyone else also left at least one potatoe as they were inedible! The photo shows the potatoes in my air fryer at home after about 20 minutes! Service charge was then added on, which I asked to be removed but my friend insisted on paying it, so I paid £30 for roast pork (with a huge rind of fat around it, despite asking for extra crackling) inedible potatoes and “fresh market veg” which were clearly frozen peas and carrots!! Lesson learnt!!

Sunday lunch, I had the roast beef. Veg was lovely but the meat was two small, thin slices of pre-processed ‘meat’, which was disappointing.

This family run hotel exceeded all our expectations. The hotel is in a 16th Century wool merchant’s house, retaining many original features. We had a downstairs room with level access throughout the hotel. There is a private car park at the rear along with a garden with seating. The food was exceptional, all cooked in-house and served with a smile, either in a dining room or bar meals. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is in a historic street, a short walk to the town centre. We had a fantastic weekend, we will certainly return. One of the best hotels we have stayed in.

Needed to provide dinner for some visiting dignitaries at short notice. While other venues cited lack of staff and a bank holiday as a reason not to, the Corinium rose to the challenge and provided a wonderful evening. Gemma and Margaret were fantastic and our visitors left saying how wonderful Cirencester was as this was the final event they attended

Everything was perfect. Arrived to find a big free car park so no stress driving round a strange town trying to find a space which has happened to us on more than one occasion or paying a small fortune for a space only to find that it is on a first come first served basis. We walked through the hotel garden where lots of locals were having a drink (always a good sign if locals are frequenting the place). Greeted warmly and taken up to Room 16 - newly decorated, spotlessly clean bathroom with a bath and a shower. First night we ate in the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and all the food choices marvellous. Great nights sleep in a very comfy bed in a quiet room. Breakfast was so good and plentiful that we hardly ate for the rest of the day. We had planned to eat out on the second night but the hotel has a pizza oven and following comments from other guests staying in the hotel we decided to eat in. Again we weren't disappointed. A further positive is that the hotel is in a great position in the town and a good location to access the beauty spots in The Cotswolds.

Very nice plate of an old time favourite of mine, ham, eggs and chips. Limited menu under COVID-19 but good enough for lunch. Lovely dining area and property. Staff good too. Will definitely use again....

We were due to visit just as the pandemic hit but we finally got there in August when the weather was superb. The hotel was full of character and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly.

We had a weekend trip to Cirencester and stayed at the Corinium. Location is central, just a short walk to town. We were in an attic room up two steep stair cases, so be aware it can be a struggle after a long day sightseeing. The room had plenty of character, lots of beams, small high window with no view. Lovely bathroom and plenty of cupboard space. Vintage dresser used as coffee station had broken lid, which finally fell off last morning. Lovely breakfast and nice service. I wouldn’t say it was overly friendly, but everyone was pleasant enough. The atrocious weather did not help as the bar was almost deserted. No blame there, but would like to see the place with a little more going on. Good base to explore the Cotswolds. Very large bathroom with both bath and shower, nice bath products supplied and good heated rail which we needed to dry out costs after Storm Dennis. Every thing was clean and nicely presented, everyone was polite and efficient, but I just missed a bit of the personal touch.

We were very disappointed with the quality of food and drinks. Soup was inedible, chocolate cake had never been near any chocolate and was like eating sand. Paninis were made from awful bread, served with a limp ‘salad’ and a few crisps, incredibly average and extremely overpriced. Chocolate cookie has no taste and again was extremely dry. Coffee was reminiscent of a 00s vending machine. Bring a picnic and avoid this place.

Very misleading wine menu, probably/maybe not on purpose. Reads like the price of a bottle of wine is 16gbp, when it's really 45gbp. Bear in mind, I'm not young, plenty of wine ordered, and never got it confused before in my life... Food is really good, but can't help but feel absolutely tricked by the wine list, everyone on the table who looked at the menu fell on the same trap of thinking second column was the price of a bottle. Also not happy with how this was handled by the GM. Guys, please fix that wine list...

I was part of a large group who had a Sunday lunch. The meal consisted of two slices of pork and two slices of beef. I can’t speak for others but on my table of six, five left their meat. The consensus was that the pork was fatty and the beef was tough. The waitress was made aware of this when clearing the table but nothing was done.
