Coral Bay Cafe in The Vale of Glamorgan

I’m a photographer and I was looking for a restaurant/Café with nice outdoor seating so I could do a quick branding session for an event planner. I just needed to take some photos of her working at the table and they were gracious enough to let me use the outdoor area while it was slow and rearrange the chairs and table how I wanted. Very nice staff and the restaurant and food was delicious. Not to mention it’s in a very nice area of Staten Island and it’s right on the beach so after you have your meal, you could take a walk on the beach.

Had some unique appetizers. Everything was delicious.

The food, Chilean sea bass & Chicken scarpiello plus the cheese plate ap were excellent as was the service. It was also nice to be able to sit outside. Would def return.

Coral Bay! You will like it. I started with their Blue Point Oysters on the half shell. Excellent! They are my favorite oyster with a mild brine and traditionally served over ice with horse radish, tabasco, lemon, and cocktail sauce. Sorry I dove into them so quickly that there isn't a pic of them...lol My entrée was a combination platter of shrimp, filet of sole, and scallops all oreganata accompanied by a vegetable risotto. The oreganata had a slight bright lemony flavor that perfectly complimented the seafood. Superb.

Everything was fantastic. Sat outside on a cool summer evening. The food was delicious and the service was great. I suggest making a reservation.

I found this place on Google maps and brought my fiancée one day to try it out. The weather was perfect to sit outside and we arrived before it got crowded. We had an amazing time. Our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable. Our food was delicious and our time spent was delightful. This place is a real gem, my fiancée and I have been telling everyone we know about it since.

First time going to this restaurant after living on Staten Island for 19 years, what the hell took me so long lol food was phenomenal. Prices were average and service was exceptional.

Best hidden gem on the island. Food is ridiculously good, atmosphere is great and service was wonderful. It’s a little pricey but 100% worth it.

Ordered the fried soft shell crabs, after I asked if they were fresh or frozen. I was told they were fresh. If they were fresh, they unfortunately were spongy not crispy. I will go back and order try something else.

My wife came to the restaurant for the first time. We are big seafood lovers. We ordered a cheese platter, clams on the half shell, seafood salad, and Scungilli over linguine in a red hot sauce. We shared everything. Everything was delicious. My wife felt that the clams were not fresh, but I disagreed with her. I thought the portion was a little small for the prices, but everything now a days cost a lot. The wine selection was adequate, per glass, and bottle prices were a little high. The menu was huge a lot of choices. The dessert was very good, and Cappachino was so-so. Was surprised to see they did NOT charge you extra for using a credit card. That surprised me. Because every other restaurant does. I would definitely come back and other seafood items. Service was perfect, location perfect. No wait.

Zero complaints regarding food quality, service, and atmosphere. The coral bay shrimp is delicious, but be wary of the specials. They charged me $60 for a stuffed bone-in veal chop special. Stick to the menu.

The very nice restaurant the food is very good. I think the staff was overwhelmed by the number of people that we brought with us very impromptu birthday party.

We celebrated a birthday. Party of 10. Just ordered coffee appetizers and dinner specials. The cost was ridiculous and after we paid over 1400 dollars for a meal that was overpriced and overcooked one of us wanted a quick cup of coffee before we left and was charged 9.00 for it, not even a coffee on the house and when someone took their food home when they opened it it had the bones in it as well. Imagine they couldn’t even take it out. We were the only customers there and the service was slow. Never again going there again and we eat out a lot.

Lovely, hidden spot on the water at the end of a local neighborhood block. Nice atmosphere, small with great service and drinks. We all had the specials of the night. Seafood entrees and calamari. Very good Parking lot. Valet on the weekends.

First time at this restaurant for my 36th Anniversary. My husband and I could not believe the quality of food. A very welcoming staff even sang to us. Everything was just delicious. I am very fussy with food but baked clams amazing. Shrimp Oreganata just perfect and oysters for my husband. Drinks and desert terrific! Can’t say anything more. So happy we found a great place to eat! Thankyou for everything!

I have to say, if the food was beyond great, and the service better, I MIGHT drive from the bridge to his restaurant, But after waiting a good 40 minutes for appetizers and another 45 for the main, no way, The waitress seemed hurried and hassled by our normal requests, like my soda with the main course, and extra napkins. Food was good, but only if you are in the area.

What a great place. Coral Bay Cafe is tucked away on a quiet street right next to the water. This is a family owner place run by Paulie and Maria. The food is fantastic and atmosphere is great. I will be going back very soon.

Unless you want to be sitting here for 3 hours, never receive anything you ask from the waitress (if you do it’s the wrong thing) and then get the worst food poisoning you’ll ever get in your life afterwards, Coral Bay is that place. Make sure you get the hot antipasta, the fettuccine carbonara, oh yeah and the undercooked salmon is mwuah. I had to wait 45 min for a simple corona because she didn’t want to disturb the bartender who was in the middle of a large drink order? Like what? Don’t come here. Lol.

The food was good, but it took an hour for 3 lunch specials & an app to come out, priced at over $90 it should've came out much quicker, on top of that we specified we wanted something a certain way & the waitress messed it up & blamed the kitchen, then it came back out still incorrect but i hadda get my son from school so didnt have the time to address it, our waitress kim wasn't the most pleasant & couldn't look less thrilled to be there, she needs to smile a lil more, who wouldn't be happy working at a beautiful cafe like coral bay, however the owners daughter who was there was an absolute sweetheart, I'll be back to try a few other menu items & no disrespect but for the almost $100 spent, I'll be requesting a different waitress next time.

Hidden Gem of Staten Island , Fresh creative cocktails , Specials were delicious, stuffed zucchini flowers , big seafood menu , service was excellent. No crowds , perfect getaway dinner.

This is an exceptional location on the bay. Surprising, romantic, amazingly tasty, cozy, not expensive for this level of cuisine. It is so delicious that there are no words! Cafe in a quiet residential area. Good for dinner! It is definitely worth a visit and you will definitely add it to your list of your favorite places!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Coral Bay Cafe, and I must say it was a great experience. The service was top-notch, with a friendly and attentive staff who went above and beyond to ensure our dining satisfaction. The calamari was simply fantastic. It was cooked to perfection, crispy and golden. The oysters were fresh and delicious too. All the special appetizers were great. Thank you for a wonderful dinner.

I've been here twice. Dinner, service and atmosphere is exactly what you would expect. Coral Bay delivers an excellent dining experience.

Food and drinks were great but the service was HORRIBLE. Made a reservation for 7 got there at 7 but we waited for a half an hour before being seated. They brought the wrong food out twice. They also did this to two other tables next to us. The entrees took forever to come out… we were in the restaurant for over two hours and we didn’t even get dessert. The staff was nice just disorganized. I think they were trying their best and this is a result of poor management.

Food was ok. Grilled octopus not good at all …rubbery. Black mussels over pasta had no taste. Just steamed mussels placed over pasta…no flavor of mussels in the sauce. Website prices were different from their actual in house menu. We were informed they tried to change it for years but they couldn’t do it. Fifteen dollar difference for scallops. This in no way is a negative review…just my experience.

Coral Bay has been one of our favorites since we found them back in 2021. We decided to have our daughter’s baptism there and the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was absolutely perfect. The food is always on point and our guests could not stop raving about how delicious everything was.The ambiance for photos was great too because the restaurant is situated directly next to the beach. Overall this place is an amazing hidden gem, highly highly recommend you give them a try!

My partner and I both ordered ravioli but they had just ran out of that so then we ordered something else. Had to wait atleast 45 mins for our food. Then when they finally brought out the food they brought me out someone else's plate the first. Our waitress was sweet. I think her name was Kimberly. When they brought the bill out they didn't bring out the correct one. Maybe it was a long day for the staff but I don't plan to come back here.

Coral Bay is quite frankly one of the, if not the best restaurant on Staten Island. The quality, portions, and service you get when dining at Coral Bay are superior. The wait staff is courteous and very attentive always. The location is also absolutely stunning and we always take a scenic walk on the beach after eating to digest. Coral Bay will always be our go to place. It truly is the hidden gem of the south shore!

The staff is very kind, but sometimes things can get a little hectic. Some sauce was spilled when serving and the lights seemed to be hit by accident on a few occasions. It was a bit on the noisy side. But it is a smaller dining area so it is to be expected. It is surprisingly well spaced, you don't feel packed into the room when seated. So just 1 star off of service and atmosphere (which is maybe on the harsh side). Still an exceptional restaurant, the tip was well deserved and the food was outstanding.

Small intimate atmosphere. The scungili salad appetizer was very good. Grilled salmon over lentils was delicious, as was the filet of sole oreganata my wife had said was very good. I would definitely return to try other interesting dishes on the menu.

What a great experience every time! Food is so good! We’ve had the Shrimp Oreganata, Fettuccine Lobster and Shrimp, and a few of the pasta dishes. Mussels are delicious, especially in the red sauce Definitely recommend the Ricotta/Pistachio cake!

Overall 2+. Noisy- Steak overcooked! Lobster Special not so special. Lobster was cooked dead. Chilean Seabass excellent. Martinis Weak. Plenty of other places close by. Will try again to give 2nd chance.

Went out to dinner here at Coral Bay for my sister's birthday (Saturday August 6, 2022). It was really loud and I couldn't hear anyone talk. Everyone enjoyed there dinner except one. The veal was very dry! The service was bad! We had to pile up our dishes for them to take off the table. They brought my desert. When they asked who ordered it, I said I did. It was so loud in here that the guy didn't hear me say it's mine and walked away with my desert. The bill was $998 I won't be going back to this place! Too loud and very EXPENSIVE!!

Tonight, we dined at Coral Bay Cafe for the first time since it's rebirth. We were very satisfied and will be back. The staff was great, especially Paul and the food was really good. We opted to eat outside and enjoyed the sea breeze as well as an attentive staff. Keep up the good work, guys! We'll be back soon!

Had the Scallops& Seafood special delicious

Found a sizeable peice of broken plastic in my food. Brought it to the attention of my server. Was not looking for a free dinner. Just thought the kitchen should be aware. It could have been handled a bit better. I say that as a business owner myself.

Super disappointed all around.. went for dinner ordered a bottle of wine two apps and two entrees. I only got a half order of vodka sauce which is probably the cheapest thing on their entire menu. I’ve had it there before and tonight it was gross. I told my waitress twice i was unhappy with my meal and she offered to do absolutely nothing for us. She handed me my check after i asked if there was anything she could do for us and when i received it my pasta was still on the bill. I now ask if there’s anyway she can ask the owner if they can take it off the bill because i ate about 4 bites of my meal. she tells me she thinks he just walked in which i already seen him when we first sat down for dinner. after about 10 minutes of waiting for a new check she comes back and lies to us to say management wasn’t there but she took off 6 dollars.. So less than half of my half order was all they could do. pretty sad. before i leave and pay my bill i noticed the owner was behind the bar so i felt the need to let him know i knew who he was. I went in saying excuse me he tried ignoring me and asking another bar tender to help me but i continued to say i was told management wasn’t here when i was unhappy with my meal but i know that you’re the owner. So embarrassing on their behalf I guess they needed the money more than us! Our last time dining here. Horrible customer service! Save your money. Maybe with the extra money the owner could put on some real clothes

Excellent food and drink but very busy on a Sat. night. Took over an hour to get our dinner, even with a reservation.

Very disappointed with the whole night. Sat down (with reservation) at 8:30pm…didn’t get served until 10:00pm. Our steaks were over cooked and the fish portion was stingy! (Only 3 scallops for me and 3 shrimp for my wife). We will never come to this restaurant again.

This is currently my favorite place. The food can sometimes take a little while to get out and its small but the quality and service is too notch. Price is also great!

Made reservations 2 months ago for party of 12-14 for my wife's birthday and left name and number with an Italian gentleman. We all show up and there is no reservation and they cannot accommodate us. Exceptionally disappointing. We called other guests that had not arrived yet and directed them to another restaurant. Hostess was upset and asked if we would wait a 1/2 hour for a table, and we would get 2 entries free. While a great gesture, we had already directed people to the other restaurant.

One of the BEST restaurants on Staten Island. the food, the drinks and the staff are Absolutely Devine! Its a hidden gem that needs to be explored by those who never went out of there boundary

My bad review is based on the restaurants complete lack of an ability or process to book events; and I'll not dine here again after this experience. Coral bay cafe had always been one of my favorite restaurants. When they closed down years ago, I talked about them all the time. When they re-opened my wife and I were ecstatic. We have eaten there many times since re-opening. The food is outstanding, the location is excellent and the staff is extremely accommodating. 3 months ago my wife and I went for dinner (for our 4th time since they re-opened) We asked the staff to let us book our daughters confirmation party there. The woman told us it was too early and asked is call next month...... My wife has been calling every month for 3 months.. Every time my wife speaks to the woman, she is told "it's too early to book". My wife calls again last night and the woman tells her that the date we want is already reserved... How in the name of Christ does this happen... Thanks Coral bay cafe. Now we're scrambling for a new place.

Hidden beach front restaurant in Staten Island, excellent authentic, italian cuisine . Food was delicious! Can't wait to come back in the warmer weather & dine during the day! Service was perfect. Dimly lit and love the atmosphere. Small dining area with a well stocked bar, drinks were big! Prices were all reasonable. Definitely coming back for lunch

Visited all the way from Virginia. This hidden gem on Staten Island right on the beach is amazing. Excellent food, great service, wonderful ambiance, and friendly staff. If you want delicious Italian food, try Coral Bay !! You won’t be disappointed. Definitely recommend the Seafood salad and pistachio ricotta cake amazing.

Never in a rush to have dinner but this place took way too long... oysters were not fresh. Grilled octopus was bad. Sent back burnt Chilean seabass and was offered some dessert in place of my dinner... really? Night out wasted not to mention $200 for bad food...

Great food; the entrée and main dish were delicious. We ordered the stuffed flounder with crabmeat.

Worse dining experience we ever had. Outside dining was dark. Inside dining was extremely noisy. They need acoustics treatments inside. Owners Might need to have their hearing checked. My ears we ringing for hours. Waiter could not hear our order, and you could not have a conversation with people at your table. Service was terrible. Waited 20 minutes for our drink order to be taken. Another 15 minutes to get our drinks. Ordered fried calamari and raw clams. They brought the calamari but no clams. Calamari was tough, not good. After another 15 minutes they brought us an order of baked clams. We refused the order and told them we ordered raw clams. Another 15 minutes pass, and they bring us an order of raw oysters. It was laughable. Another 15 minutes and we finally got our raw clams. But they were fishy and did not taste fresh. Another 20 minutes and we got our dinner. Wife ordered rack of lamb, medium well. Four pieces were cooked properly two were very rare. The dinner also came with risotto. There was about a tablespoon of risotto and some vegetables which were too hard to eat and had zero seasoning on them I ordered king crab legs. Got four pieces of crab, which were about the size of my finger. Total amount of meat on them was about ¼ cup – for $47. I also received a tablespoon of risotto and raw vegetables. When we complained about the crabs the owner told us that crabs were expensive, so that is why the portions were so small. To give us a larger portion they would have to charge more. Not an acceptable answer. They could have said Market Price and not insulted us with the order they served. At that point we left and went elsewhere for dessert. I can assure you that we will never go back there again.

I loved the food at Coral Bay. The seafood was very tasty! The fried calamari was great. The staff was wonderful! They were very attentive.

Can you give less than a star? Where to start, almost 30 between our two drinks arrived, not our second round our individual drinks; another 45 and then finally they brought out our appetizers and one entree, so we had to sit there and look at one entree while the second was coming; the food was overpriced and such small quantities; so many things we asked for they were out of, which is great for freshness, but how are you out of staples like risotto that comes with every meal; our waiter was in out of his league, in two hours, he spoke to us three times. The best part of the night was how the other tables were all discussing better restaurants and how they would never return

Had an awesome time at the bar the other night. The drinks were amazing and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with Nick. The food was cooked to perfection and the service top notch. Highly recommend!

The food was excellent. Definitely going back again. Its a hidden gem. Maria the owner was very friendly and very nice and pleasant. She was always checking on the customers. We had a very nice conversation at the end of the evening. I fully recommend going there you will not be disappointed.

The service is really slow, way to many waiters most just standing around, you would think the service would be faster...its not. The food was decent, kinda misleading on the menu to table. The only good person was Carlos who was busting his butt the whole time we were there. Definitely not worth the money and we were there to celebrate and it was a disappointment.
