Third visit, which says something about how we rate the place. Brought our youngest daughter and a friend this time. The menus structure has changed, which we think is a pity but times are very hard for hospitality. So, there's now a 7-course taster menu or 2/3 courses - the 5 course menu has gone, which we liked a lot since it felt rather "Goldilocks" to us. In any event, we went for 7 courses. As ever, the general standard was high. Standouts were smoked mussel & scallop, and venison & celeriac. Food was very well presented and cooked. Portion size was perhaps a touch small given the outlay and, unusually for us, we were able to rise from our chairs pretty easily at the end of the evening (vs. for, example, Theo Randall, where we couldn't move, we were so full). I'm not at all saying we want to be stuffed, but the food is great and a little more would be nice. Ultimately, we were out the door for £115 each, including service and wine. That's not at all bad for London and the quality on show but feels a bit less competitive than a couple of years ago, and there are lots of alternatives at that price. Nevertheless, still a great option we think.

Our son booked as a surprise birthday treat. We had the fixed menu. The food was really beautifully presented and tasted divine. The lamb belly starter was by far the best. The waiter explained our dishes well and was friendly and welcoming. We did find the side dish of potatoes a little too salty. My son hadn't had hispy cabbage before and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately during the time we were in the restaurant I did feel quite cold. I really should have brought it to the waiters attention.

Some places are surprisingly good. This restaurant is one of my favourites in Blackheath area. It was my second time but this last time the food was simply divine. Plates well presented and explained, pretty, delicious and creative, as all the places should be. The staff is very organised and always with nice suggestions for wines, and a good selection of wines too, beyond extremely friendly and smiling. The restaurant could be just a bit more cozy if they have a decoration in the same high level of their restaurant. I would gladly give the suggestions as interior designer, but it’s unfair remove their 5 stars for this reason. Without doubts it’s one of these places we consider a *mandatory visit!!! Highly recommend this restaurant! Really happy with the experience!

Our 3rd time at Copper & Ink, and I must say the experience is getting even better. A rare find when it comes to refine and creative cuisine, new tastes and perfect presentation. Soon a Michelin star for sure. Service is impeccable with professional and super polite personnel. We also like the lay out of the tables which allows privacy. The one missing point, if I may, would be the overall decoration. I would recommend a slight or total makeover to align with the amazing quality of the food and service.

Outstanding. My words won’t do this place justice. I have seen the team at work prepping once when onsite for a technical fault and I was wowed by their skill and dedication as people forget how early they get in to start. Tony had been in since the early hours that particular morning. Ozer (Oz) waited on us so well and was brilliant. The tasting menu was outrageously good. You can watch Masterchef and have your appetite whetted or you could go to a place like this and experience the real thing. Our 3rd night out in 7 months due to a newborn and wow did we enjoy it. We live a long way away but when in London for work we will sure to be back again. I would have loved to do the pairing wine menu but we had an early start. I can confirm the Negroni was the best I have ever had. Keep up the good work and I hope many more people get to experience this gem. Regards to all. Mark.

Excellent restaurant offering a varied tasting Menu. The meal we ate consisted of eight varied courses. Ranging from Onion Soup and snacks, whitebait, chorizo cake, and cheese straws. We ate scallops, Pigeon, Short Rib, and a Chocolate dessert among others. As is usual with this type of menu, the food ranged from Good to Phenomenal, depending on your tastes. We enjoyed an optional extra cheese course that was a rarebit with pickle. My wife was blown away by this, to me it was pleasant, but I feel it could have been served warmer. My wife felt the best dish of the evening was a tagine with Pigeon breast. Which was in my opinion good. My favourite dish was a chocolate, salted caramel, and a milk ice-cream dessert, which for me was excellent. We have eaten here before and enjoy the element of trying new dishes. The rapidly changing tasting menu suits us. The service was friendly, and the dishes well-spaced, with no pressure to eat up and leave.

To start, we opted for the tasting menu along with a bottle of Lux de Luc - 2020. I'd like to mention that the food was impeccably prepared and each ingredient was treated with care, resulting in well-presented dishes. However, while the food was what you would expect from fine dining, it didn't manage to impress or captivate me. The service fell short of my expectations. From the outset, after receiving our menus, we were informed that only tasting menus were available, which wasn't an issue. Nevertheless, the lack of further elaboration on the menu and concepts was noticeable. Regrettably, we weren't provided with any guidance for wine pairings either. Interestingly, I observed other experienced diners needing to request explanations about the wines and dishes. On a brighter note, all members of the staff were courteous, attentive, and friendly.

We haven’t been here for 6 months but managed to get a table and went for their June tasting menu. We were pleased to see some significant improvements since our last visit. The staff were amazing, attentive and knowledgable about the wines paired with each course. Over all the menu lived up to our high expectations. However, we can’t give it full marks and there is still some major issues that are still not addressed. Maybe, it’s just our expectations, but others appear to agree, based on reviews. We agree that there is a tendency in the over use of salt. Thou better than pervious menus we have had, there is still far too much salt in the dishes. The timing of pairings with each dish still needs to be coordinated with the kitchen. We had several pairs poured far to early, and with the warm weather, wasn’t chilled when the dish arrived. This is a key service point, and easy to fix, we hope. We agree that the amount of spring serviced is also small, and for the price, should be addressed. As for the menu, almost every dish was cooked to perfection, and presented well. We do however feel the pork dish was an epic fail. The pork was so tough, we could even cut it, and left most of it. The real issue was the fact the dish had too many strong flavours and did not blend well and conflicted together. We made our feedback known, and give the dish was almost untouched the restaurant should have rectify the problem. We will be back, but hope they make improvements to warrant the high price.

My partner and I had the tasting menu on the 26th May and we were underwhelmed, to say the least. Felt it was heavily overpriced for the quality of the dishes. Octypus dish was flavourless. Chicken dish was really poor with tough pieces of gristle in it. Serving staff are absolutely incredible but the food really let the experience down.

Good food and service, however the quality of service dropped as the restaurant got busier. The thing that let this down for me was the portion sizes. I'm used to having a tasting menu so I understand that portions are smaller than a regular menu but this was extremely small. I'm rarely hungry after a tasting menu but we had to get chips from across the road when we were done! Not what you want when you just spent over £200 at a restaurant! Overall good atmosphere and nice to have a fine dining restaurant locally but I think this needs some refinement for it to be worth the price point.

Very nice restaurant, staff are friendly; however, we went to try their tasting menu and were very disappointed. All dishes were extremely salty and I am not saying that because I don't like salt, I really do, but the amount of salt in our dishes was just a different level of extreme saltiness, beginning from chicken skin butter. We also found that the mixture of flavours on the plate wasn't very exciting and in fact, it was really too many different flavours which didn't work well together for us. We were expecting something that would be really tasty and you would want to eat more of that, but unfortunately it didn't happen. I think that for the price we paid, despite being given a small discount, it wasn't really worth it.

We got the 7 course tasting menu and everything was amazing!!! All ingredients were fresh and cooked to perfection, flavours were great. Our server was knowledgable in how the food was prepared and was very friendly- i felt that he went above and beyond. My favourite was the venison (best i’ve ever had it cooked), the scallops + the ginger milk ice cream at the end. Bonus mention to chicken skin butter. Only con was that the complimentary bread was a bit stale but only because i’m nit picking. :)

I visited Copper & Ink last month and had an amazing meal! The service was brilliant. We came with friends with an 18 month old child and all of the staff engaged with her and helped keep her entertained, making us feel very welcome. Each course was wonderfully presented and the owner came and explained what each of us were having (even explaining what the toddler was having!). The food was top notch. We went for the very reasonable midweek £35 fixed price menu (we chose mains + dessert). I had a hake stew (pictured) for my main and baked yoghurt as dessert and both were among the tastiest dishes I can remember - very well presented and with really interesting combinations of ingredients that I never would've considered! I've got a sieve brain so can't remember everything that was there, but trust me - it was great. Don't come here if you're after masses of food at high street prices, but if you fancy eating something that is probably far nicer than what you could cook at home, with a brilliantly personal touch and in an intimate setting, then this is the place for you!

We have had many good meals in the past, but last night tastings menu we didn't like 7 out of 8 of the dishes. We had before some strange combinations that worked or didn't work, but last night was way worse. Chef seems to like conflicting flavours. Maybe some like that but we didn't. In our opinion last night nothing worked out of all those different dishes (and she had vegetarian and me the normal tasting menu). Not sure if will return. Reason I have given it 3 stars not less is that we had nice dishes here in the past. Check menu before you book if you like the combination of it.

I went here for my birthday early January with some friends and I had the best time ever. The menu was absolutely incredible and every dish was delicious and very intriguing! The chicken skin butter was a personal highlight! The staff were so attentive and I was spoilt to my very own signature cocktail from the wonderful Becky who is a master mixologist. Tony came to our table to wish me a happy birthday and spoilt us with his wisdom about the dishes he had created - a true delight to hear about the dishes. The whole evening was incredible and topped off wonderfully by the wait staff being so incredible. I’m already excited to go back and know I will be going here happily for many years to come!

As it happens, we had a booking for three to celebrate a birthday today. Yesterday Birthday Boy went down with a stomach bug (!), so I rang to change the booking for two. The person I spoke to was really lovely. We arrived today and were shown to our table, we asked if we could sit at a different table for two and yes, of course. We ordered the taster menu with the sommelier wines and I'm really glad we did. The wines were perfectly chosen for each dish, perfectly executed. The sweetbread made me happy to be alive. This has been our first visit and it hasn't disappointed. The service in particular has been outstanding and we would like to thank Tom our waiter for making us feel very welcoming. He has offered great advice about our meals and has been friendly and professional. We went for fixed menu; and had scallop and sweet bread, tubort, maitake and beef rib as well as cabbage as side and meringue as dessert. We were all happy with our food and the wine was great as well. The place has a nice ambience and decor. It's situated very close to Blackheath Station. I'm sure we will be back!

What can I say , it’s amazing this is just our starters ! Will give full review after our mains. Sorry it’s been two week and we have not stopped telling people about our experience at Copper & ink . From start to finish this was fine dining. My main was beef short rib and my first bite was ( just the meat ) so salty I thought “oh No!” But when it was combined with the other ingredients it was fantastic a completely different taste. My partner had spicy chicken and once again the chef knocked it out of the park , so light , tender and full of flavour . Well done all 👏🏻👏🏻 and let’s not forget the service very attentive , knowledgeable and accommodating ( had to ask for more bread just to mop up with , a heathen I know but was told “ I respect your decision” 😂 we had an afternoon booking ( 3pm ) and it was very quiet and comfortable, no rushing from the staff asked for a break between courses and was obliged . We will definitely be back with a few more people on the near future! Keep up the good work and food .

So things didn't start out well for me when we were escorted to the rather cold, slightly damp smelling basement area even though there were tables available in the upstairs restaurant. Things didn't get much better after that. Having chosen the tasting menu the waitress (who was very well intentioned but inexperienced) kept leaning right over myself and my husband to place cutlery. The tasting menu was disappointing. The first course (white asparagus with morels and basil oil) was delicious but after that it was downhill. The prawn bisque was very salty and VERY small... My husband hilariously had ONE pea in his, I generously shared a couple of my.. six. The short rib beef was also VERY salty and small. Just like another earlier reviewer, I think the tasting menu has got it all wrong with 2 starters, just one main and 2 desserts. Overall I was very disappointed Copper and Ink. We traveled an hour to visit you and we won't be back.

found it weird we were the only non white ppl and were shown to a table in a corner out of the view of the other diners. that aside we had the taster menu where the starters were superb, the main short rib a bit on the dry side and the sauce was a bit bitter for my liking. am not a dessert person but I did enjoy the one with the lemon sauce.

Copper & Ink know how to create an amazing fine dining experience, I’ve eaten here many times and I’m never disappointed. There are great options for vegetarians, vegans, gluten free etc also. The taster menu is my favourite as it’s always delicious, there is a different menu each month which is always diverse and exciting. Tony (head chef) is very knowledgeable and creative with the food. I mean, he is a Master Chef finalist after all. There is also the very stylish Becky who runs the restaurant with Tony, she is always on hand to make your experience comfortable and pleasurable, she is also is an absolute artist when it comes to making cocktails. All the wait staff are highly knowledgeable when it comes to the menus or the wine also. There’s nothing not to love.

Had a very, very nice meal at Cooper and Ink. Starter of Asparagus was very special and very well plated. We had a main of Salmon and Brill which both were very delicious. So we can say the restaurant has chops in preparing fish! Service was excellent, attentive and not cluttered. We love the bread and butter, butter was wonderfully seasoned. Highly recommend and we will be back again! Keep up the good work. The main reason for 5 stars is value, very reasonable prices and very, very good food. Cocktails and wine were delicious, they offer carafes of very nice wine, which is an excellent way to have a nice wine without having to buy a bottle. Limited but excellent selection. Only negatives, the room has partitions up from Covid days, they are a bit crowding for the room and make it feel a bit darker.

The food was superb and the service was excellent. I have never experienced a restaurant in which a new menu is presented each month. So much thought and effort goes into creating new dishes. This is surely a Michelin star restaurant in the making.

Little guy tried fish and chips once there and said it was the best ever… fast forward to his birthday, he wanted to have fish and chips “in the best place”. Becky and the team were extraordinary at making it special with less than 24h notice. We had a lovely time and felt special! Thank you!

Bit disappointed about Cooper & Ink if im honest. We decided to fo there after hearing so much about it, took us over an hour to get there. We then thought we'd try the taster menu which seemed good value, but when the dishes came out we were a bit surprised. The food was tasty, not mind blowing with flavor but the portion sizes were tiny. It certainly isnt enough to fill you up. Another weird thing was there were 2 starters, 1 main and 2 desserts! I would expect 2 mains and 1 dessert so customers can experience a more varied culinary experience. So i would say worth a try but i dont think i would be back anytime soon

Had a superb meal here for Valentine's weekend. Lucky enough to have the tasting menu with wine pairing. Sensational food, warm attentive service and excellent wine matching. All the food was delicious but my favourite had to be the scallop. Utterly divine. Will be back soon!

Well, the food was amazing! enjoyed every course except one last course. Me and my partner got the 5 set taster course... Service was nice and friendly and the atmosphere was a nice and relaxed vibe. Not much selection on the cocktail menu would be my only negative but still worth the 5*

We were there for lunch today and had a really good experience. Service was prompt and friendly and the food we had was so tasty (I had the 2 course lunch menu and my partner had the lamb shish) I even got taken back to the kitchen to meet the chefs! We will be back again soon……..

Came for a kebab based on reviews. Ordered and then they told me cash only (in 2024?). Sent me to the store next door for cash but it was closed so made the trek up to the corner. Came back and they’d not even started cooking. How not to run a business.

Nicest sit down restaurant around! The food is great and the service is amazing. I high recommend the red wine and Hungarian trifle.. delicious
