We visited for the second time on Saturday evening. We had a lovely time on our first visit, but the food this time was simply exceptional. The tastiest boquerones we've ever eaten, divine cuttlefish and piquillo pepper croquettes, chargrilled beef onglet to die for...so tender and perfectly cooked! And roasted iberico pork...also delicious and cooked so well. Every single mouthful was full of flavour and so fresh. The staff could not have been more charming. They remembered us from our last visit and were very attentive. Exactly the service you hope for in a restaurant. We'll be back very soon...an absolutely wonderful meal.

We visited on a quiet Tuesday evening after the late Bank Holiday in May. We were greeted instantly by a friendly waiter and given a choice of tables. The waiter was able to suggest how many dishes would be appropriate and make recommendations from the menu. We chose 2 veg, 2 fish and 3 meat dishes along with olives and bread. Every single dish was exquisite and they served them at intermittent intervals so there wasnt loads of dishes sat going cold on the table all together. The flavours were amazing and portions were about the right size. We left feeling full but not over stuffed which was nice. My husband had a coffee and i had the 'Blooms with Strawberry' gin which was served in the 'goldfish bowl' traditional style and certainly packed a punch. This is not the cheapest place around but you most certainly get what you pay for....fantastic quality food in really good surroundings. Even our 12yr old daughter loved it and tried a bit of everything! If you only have one night to eat out then you wont be disappointed if you choose this restaurant!

Lovely ambiance with a nice buzzing feel on a Tuesday night but were still able to seat a group of seven without a reservation. Really interesting tapas dishes - very out the ordinary but without being pretentious or overly 'adventurous'. We tried a number of the specials which were excellent - including suckling pig. The main menu is not overly long - around six or seven tapas for each of the meat/seafood/vegetable sections.

The meats were very special again supers flavours with the Lamb a favourite of mine. All in a fantastic night and would highly recommemd the "Salty Beer"

I've only been in two or three taps bars before and this one has to be one of the best. The olive with the bread was excellent with a fresh grassy flavour; the chorizo was of the highest order; the rabbit with mince and pistachio nuts ballatine was very good and the accompanying plum sauce was fantastic; Only down side was that we found the prawns difficult to open because the way they were cooked made the shells soft. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

A few weeks ago my friend and I were heading out from the Whitechapel Gallery, looking for somewhere to eat. It was pouring with rain and so we hopped into the first restaurant we came to, planning on having a drink before heading off to somewhere we knew. Hours later, we were still there, having a marvelous time. It might have been something to do with the excellent gin and tonics, but there was no getting us off our high stools. The food we ate was really good and very tasty. The roasted aubergine with honey was my favourite, whilst the neck of lamb with pistachio and apricots was raved about by my friend. My husband joined us later and he too had the neck of lamb and also loved it. Service was good and very friendly but not too intrusive. The gin menu was amazing and we did quite a bit of sampling, guided by our waiter. We'll definitely be back.

Exceptional Spanish restaurant with diverse range of tapas and wines.Long lunch included dishes you won't see everywhere as well as stalwart dishes. Our choices included boquerones, exceptional cuttlefish, razor clams and octopus, black rice (stunning) and some jamon (just melted away). After an interlude we hit the meat - goat, lamb neck fillet and a really interesting pork dish.Great selection of wines, including some interesting choices by the glass to go with our deserts of traditional rice pudding and a choice of cheeses.Thoroughly recommend, most definitely plan to return. We love this restaurant as it's off the beaten track close to Liverpool St and basically you can relax, hear each other without shouting and you don't even have to listen to the people next to you because you can sit wherever you want. Every savoury tapas dish was amazing and their giant g&ts (there are three sizes) can get you seriously full and a little tipsy. Slightly let down only by their dessert options which need refinement and should be more seasonal! Highly recommend the aubergine dish for vegetarians!

The food here is good, but for the price I would expect a little more. It doesn't compare with places like Salt Yard, Bocca di Luppo, or Brindisa. Dishes didn't really stand out and I though this might be because the base elements are not top quality. Croquettes were disappointing and some great king prawns were over salty. The rest of the dishes - lamb and octopus were fine but lacked real flavour. 5 small plates and a beer came to £55.overall the food is above average but below very good - it's good - but this does not figure on the trip advisor rating

It is true that there are some interesting, inventive ideas, especially in the vegetarian section. I particuarly liked a braised fennel salad with orange, pumpkin seed, cheese and olives. Also good were a roasted aubergine with a very sweet tomato sauce and hazelnuts. A nicely chargrilled cauliflower tasted a little too vinegary but was OK.But an expensive Iberico de Bellota portion featured a dried up, excessively salty, stringy ham that negated the delicacy that Bellota can be.And a cuttlefish, while well fried, was quite horrendous, with many tough, almost inedible parts.Luckily a grilled octopus was much better, the dish rendered gutsy by some sobrasada (a sausage) cubes.Service was unremittingly good, efficient and friendly. The room is pleasant. So ups and downs, but I think in the end the price tag is too high given the poor quality of some produce and some failures in execution.

This was our best meal in London. A local friend recommended it, and they were correct. We had delicious small plates, wine, dessert, and port for about 50 pounds/person, which is really good given the quality of the food and service. The octopus, steak, patatas bravas, spinach, fennel, fish, all of it was amazing. The waiter knew just how much food we would want and suggested very nice wine pairings. Dessert was good, some better than others but all very good.

We visited on a busy Saturday evening and were seated quickly by a very friendly member of the waiting staff. She explained they had an extensive gin menu, many wines by the glass and told us that 5/6 plates should be enough to share. We started with a couple of Gin and Tonics ... The ginger and chilli was delicious and had a warning kick, the mint one didn't have quiet as distinct a flavour but was earthy and enjoyable. We chose 6 plates - the smoked anchovies, kid and chickpea stew and the lamb neck filler being the most notable. The sweet potato and albacore tuna were nice but the chargrilled cauliflower lacked any real flavour and a little disappointing. As there was an extensive wine list by the glass starting at 125ml we took the opportunity to try a selection. The Albariño and white Rioja were delicious and the sweet red monastrell was divine! A very enjoyable evening and will definitely return.

We visited with two vegan friends, and I have to admit I was wondering what they were going to eat. Spanish food isn't famous for being especially vegan-friendly. Our server also seemed a bit uncertain, but checked with the kitchen and was able to indicate which of the a la cattle dishes were either suitable or could me made suitable. I'm vegetarian and found I had an unusually large choice.Portions were a good size, well-presented and imaginatively flavoured. We shared 10 dishes between 4 and some bread and olives and this was plenty. The kitchen also sent out a special extra vegan dish that they didn't charge for, which was lovely. We all had churros for dessert, and again the kitchen made vegan chocolate sauce without my friends even asking. This is a rarity, even in London! There is a wide selection of gins to choose from, each served with a different garnish. Also a small but good cocktail list, and of course sherry.Service got a bit slow as it got busier, but the staff were all super-friendly and never seemed harassed or distracted. Will definitely be going back.

After reading the reviews, I was excited to try Copita. However, the night was not as great as was hoped for. Our booking was for 6:30pm on a Friday evening. We arrived 30 minutes early. There were only 2 or 3 other tables with people, and the rest of the restaurant was free. We were brought to the back and sat right next to a table with 2 women sitting at it. I asked if we could have the next table over, in the corner, since the restaurant was currently "empty" and we wanted some privacy. We were told "no", but he would check. After checking it was still "no". We sat down, questioning on whether we wanted to stay. Not a good start. The ladies next to us were friendly, first time they had been here, and were also a bit taken a back by it, as the host had just tried to sit them at the corner table and they asked to be moved. The table was still empty when we left the restaurant!!! Our friendly "table mates" had a totally different menu than we did, and quite frankly, I liked their food options better. If you are going to sit people so close together, you should certainly give them the same menu!! Also, I am a wine lover, and was excited to get to know the Spanish wines a little better. The website led me to believe that was the experience to expect. I asked our server about the wine, and she was not at all helpful in choosing a wine. Wine was good, but the experience again was disappointing. Also, we noticed when we left the sign out front which said: "4-7pm IN TRUE SPANISH STYLE A TAPA ON THE HOUSE WITH EVERY DRINK! WINE/SHERRY/ BEER OVER 20G&+'S!" Not sure what the end of that sign meant, but we had 2 glasses of wine and a cocktail, and nothing was for free. The food was good, but with all the amazing dining options in London, I don't think we would go back.

As it was a set menu, we weren't sure what to expect, but in addition to the menu we also ordered an additional main course as we wanted to try the Octopus which was very good. One thing we were disappointed with was that each main course was quite small and had very few vegetables. Had we known, we would have been happy to order additional vegetables but as we did not know, we didn't and this meant that the main courses were quite small but tasty. The restaurant is very nice and cozy. I found staff to be attentive and knowledgeable. I ordered 4 tapas, a glass of wine and some water and the bill landed at £60. As most tapas restaurants in London and expensive, most of the time the dishes are overpriced for the size of the servings you receive but in terms of quality at Copita del Mercado I cannot complain. The octopus is delicious (and this portion is quite generous) and the other dishes were flawless. However, we did notice that they advertised over 20 G&T combinations - so, we came back later and weren't disappointed! The bar is actually a Tapas restaurant, (although we didn't sample the food) and they were happy for us all to come in just for a drink. I've been here before for one of their huge G&Ts and made a mental note to come back to try the food. As soon as u walk in, the smell of fresh seafood on the grill hits you in the face. This is a great place for catching up with friends as the tables are not too close to others so u can have a proper conversation. U can also eat at the bar in front of the chefs or drink (and snack) at the cocktail bar area where there are stools. We were here for dinner and my meat eating friends loved their food and 50ml G&Ts (50ml gin topped with tonic of your choice of 3)! I had two vegetarian options (good) and three different G&Ts... We all had dessert which were our only areas where we thought were only ok. The churros was crunchy and tasty but the chocolate dipping was like hot cocoa when we think it would be better if it was thicker like melted chocolate with added cream. The rice pudding with berries we would have preferred served warm. The peanut ice cream would have been better served more solid (it had the consistency of a just about to melt soft serve). Other than that, friendly and relaxed service, more importantly slightly off the beaten track so no queues or waiting around (and can be booked ahead which is what we did as it was Fri night)! Will be back!

I'm working in London for a few weeks an have been to a few other excellent restaurants on Commercial Street. I was looking for a different restaurant when I stumbled upon La Copita del Mercado on Wentworth Street. I almost passed right by it, but the menu caught my eye. I'm glad it did. Not only was the service attentive and friendly, the inventive tapas menu has something for everyone. I ordered the prawns a la plancha; an amazing aubergine with hazelnuts, tomato, honey, and coriander; and croquetas with potato and manchego. I paired them with a glass of the Garnacha/Cab/Tempranillo blend, which fit well. Each dish, especially the aubergine, was flavorful and perfectly cooked. For dessert I had a peanut mantecada (mousse) with sea salt and olive oil that was so good I could eat it every night. I paired that with the recommended Cruz del Mar cream sherry, the mild sweetness of which balanced the mild saltiness of the mantecada. With food this great I was surprised the place wasn't packed on a Saturday night. The restaurant opened last December and has cultivated a following of regulars, but since it's tucked away from the main street it's easy to miss. I will definitely be back at Copita and hope its fans continue to grow in number.

My boyfriend and I found a deal on bookatable which was a 3 course meal with a glass of wine for £16.50 each (which is amazing considering the prices in there). Booking was easy and straightforward, however I think because we purchased the deal we were seated at the bar as they were reserving their tables for full priced customers which is understandable (although slightly disappointing considering we did book in advance). The food was incredibly delicious and also great for sharing, I would definitely recommend getting the peanut mantecada, maldon salt & extra virgin olive oil (basically like a peanut butter ice cream) dessert as it was probably one of the best desserts I have ever had! We also ordered a couple of beers which eventually ended up doubling our initial bill (including service charge) but £65 for a delicious 3 course meal for 2 with wine, beer, lovely service in a beautiful restaurant and so close to the city, it was worth it!

Trout tartare with capers and the octopus sobrassada were so well cooked and delicious flavours, as was the lamb neck. Even the simple chorizo was very high quality even if the waitress couldn't explain what it was. One slight miss was the sweet potato, which was overcooked, and had too much sauce which left a sickly taste. Also I suggest they need to sort the olives out. Worth travelling well out of your way to.

We went to have dinner and some drinks. Everything is great, food (Octopus, neck of lamb, mussels with romesco the best), nice selection of gins. Friendly service, funny people. We'll come back for sure.

In the Spitalfields area it is difficult sometimes to find something different. This latest addition, with Spanish chef, serves excellent tapas and amazing half and full plates in Spanish style. A really warm welcome awaits you, with genuinely friendly staff. Child friendly as well. Don't forget to try a G&T after the meal. Their speciality mixes are a delight- share one if you have already supped enough tempranillo.

I and a friend were looking for somewhere to eat having had a few drinks locally and the crisp and modern look of Copita drew us towards it and a quick look at the menu confirmed it was the place for us. The service was excellent with good advice on both wine and food. I particularly liked the way the order of serving was offered and agreed. We were never over loaded nor hungry. A well timed delivery of each dish we tried. It was all excellent, beautifully flavoured and not your standard tapas. I will revisit for sure

Yeah the food was nice and incredibly fresh. My only moan is it should have been bigger but when I go next time I'll order the larger versions not the tapas. If you want some fresh food with unusual ingredients and served with a friendly smile, I'd say check it out. Definitely going back for a full plate of the Octopus ohh what a taste sensation.

I dined there with a friend and did not enjoy the food so much. The drunken chicken was not really tasty and for sure not drunk, portions are small and wine overpriced. Staff is a bit stiff and there's a heavy smell of fried food. I wouldn't recommend it and for sure I'll not dine there again.

Me and my boyfriend really enjoyed the meal we had here recently. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the food was fantastic. We visit a lot of restaurants all round London and would put this in the top 5 this year. The dishes are diverse and varied, with fantastic fresh flavours. Highly recommended!

We booked the Book A Table deal for three course lunch and a glass of cava. Service was extremely friendly and efficient. Food was different and delicious. Our only negative point was that the terrace is not yet open.

My friends and I stumbled across this place for a very late lunch, there was 9 of us. The kitchen was near closing but they accommodated us. The service was excellent and all staff were really friendly and attentive. Food was absolutely excellent and arrived fast and tasted divine. I would recommend the lamb neck. I liked it because it was not the typical tapas, bravas, squid etc, it was inventive and different. Definitely recommend coming here.

Five of us came for lunch on the Bookatable offer, which is packaged as a three course meal plus a glass of wine/cava for £16.50. What we had was delicious - wonderfully fresh and well-balanced flavours and textures: highlights were the salmorejo (a kind of thick gazpacho) with duck egg and roasted beetroot, roasted acorn-fed iberico presa and churros with chocolate sauce. We ordered extra vegetables to go with our meat dishes, and they too were very good, and then with drinks and service the cost ended up a lot more than £16.50 a head! Still, it was a lovely family lunch in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly service, but I'll watch the meter a bit closer next time!

Four of us went here witha "bookatable" offer of three courses and a glass of prosecco/wine for £16.50. Seemed like good value and it was for a london restaurant in a trendy spitalfields location. Actually the food was really nice. Tasty morsels with unusual but complimentary combinations. We were quickly offered our drinks that were part of the deal on arrival, and orders taken as soon as we were ready. The choice was good too.Downside - small portions with no vegetables included with main courses. This was not obvious when we ordered and the (very sweet) waitress did not bring this to our attention. A shame as we would have glad,y paid for these extras. Lucky we are not "big portions" people but each of us bascially ate a small plate of meat and nothing else (as nice and tasty as it was it did need a little something else for taste, texture and a LITTLE bit of bulk !) Second downside is that the extra bottle of house wine was a bit overpriced. Most bottles of wine i think were £25 - £30 plus for basic type wine. Dont mind paying very highly marked up prices for up market hotels and Michelin starred restaurants but this was a basic tapas restaurant, as nice as it was! However, overall i would recommend it.

Whoever cooks in the kitchen definitely knows how to put flavours together. I thought I'd take advantage of the Bookatable deal for lunch today and I'm so glad I did. It was a bargain I loved everything that came on my plate. Not a single bad word to say. Lots of choice for non meat-eaters on the a la carte and what a refreshing change from the usual veggie fayre in most restaurants. Yes, you know what I mean....sick of being forced to eat pasta, risotto and cheese tarts!I had the roast aubergine starter, roast gem lettuce salad and the almond tart. My friend had the fish and churros! Probably the best churros I've tasted so far. We both enjoyed our lunch. Great flavours and well presented. The staff were brilliant, smiley, warm and welcoming...proper Spanish hospitality. I can't recommend this place enough. I hope the location doesn't stop people from visiting. Well done to all at Copita del Mercado.

Serves tasty tapas, has wide variety of food, desserts and drinks. Great espresso martini! Good service. It wasn't too busy when my friends and I were there (as it was a Tuesday night), hopefully the service level remains on busy times. Food comes in batches - and the timing between them is just right. Not rushed, and the table is not full with plates. The chorizo in red wine was one of the dishes available on the special menu - and it's soooo good. Definitely recommended!

The portions are a reasonable size and the staff bring them in gradual stages so the table is never awash with food. There is an interesting mix of meat, fish and vegetable dishes. There is a wonderful gin menu if you fancy that rather than wine with your food. There is no pressure to have loads of portions so you can easily have a glass of wine and share a few portions. As with many tapas bars you can end up spending quite a lot without realising it because each dish by itself doesn't seem expensive but the quality is excellent and well worth a visit

We enjoyed nice food in a modern and light setting. The fish was beautifully prepared and fresh. I would not call this a tapas restaurant. It serves Spanish food in normal portions. Prices were high. Maybe a touch too high. Try the red wine; Abellars. Very nice red.

I visited Copita for my birthday with a few friends in March and a few weeks later my mouth still waters. I book the table in advance and due to numbers we were offered a set menu and it was the best choice by a mile. We were inundated with different dishes of all sorts: veggie, seafood, meat, and were able to taste a little of everything- 7-8 dishes in total plus olives and desserts. The food was fantastic, well seasoned and perfectly put together, a twist in every dish and a mix of spices that left everyone raving about it. The drinks and service was also extremely pleasant and the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated. I cannot wait to visit again!

This is a nice restaurant with good ambience. The food is good quality, thoughtful, inventive tapas rather than your more usual offering. The sweet potato was fantastic, the sea bass fritura good as was the crab risotto. The squash with duck egg really underwhelming and weird. More like a gloopy soup of bland taste. We had good white Rioja and the cheese plate was tasty along with a glass of Spanish port. Service was attentive but if you get frustrated when your plates are taken before you've finished eating then you maybe disappointed. Not cheap - almost £90 for two for 5 tapas, cheese late, carafe of wine and two glasses of port

This place was recommended to me by a friend who used to live in Spain. The restaurant is cosy and attractive, although I think I was expecting something a little more casual, this is quite upmarket for tapas! The service was fantastic throughout; they were ready to advise us on wines and were spot on with the recommendation of a delicious white. We were told to order 2 plates each and we found the amount about right. I enjoyed almost every dish but the lamb and the prawns were stand outs for me. The only thing I didn’t like was the octopus – far too slimy and chewy, a shame as it is normally a favourite ingredient for me. We had desserts, coffees, cheese and a liqueur, all of which were lovely. It wasn’t cheap at around £60 per head, but I felt considering all we had consumed it was good value. I would definitely go again, I think it would be a lovely restaurant for a special occasion – the staff certainly know how to look after their customers and make them feel welcome.

I have been a fan of Copita in Soho for a while, you cannot fault the food, however sometimes it can be a little overcrowded, noisy and un-relaxing. It's new sister restaurant 'Capita Del Mercado' near Spitalfields however, has remedied all of this! It's spacious, beautifully designed restaurant and bar area is the perfect place to wind down with friends. The lighting is just right, the beautiful blue Spanish tiles look great and I love the fact you can see the cooking area. Even the toilets are lovely. Whoever designed this place has taste. Now onto the food. You simply cannot fault it. Every dish is divine and has clearly been made with love and attention. The ingredients are fresh and of high quality. Each dish is like a dance in the mouth. I would eat here everyday if I could afford it. There is so much variety, it caters for every taste and because the dishes are or sharing, you don't get bored and there's no danger of food envy. Ther service is impeccable too. So attentive and friendly. They can give you very detailed advice on every dish. I love a place that will recommend a dish. They are so friendly, you want to invite them to sit down and dine with you. Of course they also have their extensive gin menu - always go for the 50ml servings of gin, they are served in beautiful globe glasses. I have eaten at so many London restaurants, some really great ones but Copita and Copita Del Mercado are my favourite hands down - I give this place 10 out of 10.

We had a wonderful evening at the beautifully decorated Copita del Mercado. With a separate gin & tonic menu, the evening can't start of wrong. We took two tapas each which was more than enough and especially the sweet potato dish is truly amazing!

I went there for Valentines day dinner with my partner. The restaurant is very attractively decorated, with beautiful modern fittings and comfortable chairs. The staff were very friendly if just a little bit too busy to provide prompt service for everyone. The menu is exciting, including a few dishes that I was unfamiliar with, which is something I always enjoy as I like new experiences. The execution was a little inconsistent, with some of the dishes really hitting the spot and others falling somewhat flat although clearly having potential to be great with a little bit of work. The sardines three ways served with crisps was satisfying salty, and the revuelto de morcillo (scrambled eggs with blood sausage) was flavourful and moreish. The smoked tongue with paprika was strangely flavourless and definitely not smoky, although the texture was quite lovely. The chestnut cream we shared for desert was the definite star of the show, rich and creamy with just the right balance of sweet and savoury. We ordered a Spanish wine we'd never heard of before and it was quite spectacular.

I feel the weight of responsibility in this first review of this restaurant. Apparently a second outlet for this business, this is nevertheless a spendid addition to the neighbourhood. I have recently reviewed the highly regarded 64 degrees in Brighton and Caravan in Kings Cross - this place is of that ilk. And of that quality. Charing plates of high quality in a bustling, young venue. Not terribly noticable from outside, it is efficient, warm and enticing inside. The food is of high quality. We had two meat dishes, one fish and one veg - that seemed about right, though there are more ambitious dishes especialy among the specials. All arrived promptly and were most enjoyable. As far as I am aware, this place opened in December and already, even in January, you need to book, or else arrive early and sit at the bar as we did. Total cost £80 for two, which isn't bad for this quality. Only niggle was that we were given what appeared a complentary starter, but then charged for it. Not sure if that was some confusion with the order, or a standard policy. It didn't detract from the overall experience. We'll be back. Aldgate has existed for perhaps a thousand years, but had been a food destination for about 2 of those. Have a drink first in Culpepper across the way. The opening of this venue certainly adds to the area.

Went right after they opened in the morning and had a reservation. Place started packing up as we were having the meal. We got some pastries and their Shakshuka and it was the most flavorful one we had ever had in a restaurant! You could easily tell the totmato was ripe and sweet, the Labneh creamy, and the spices generous. It had a beautiful kick from the chilis and then you had the creamy, tangy Labneh and it’d cool your mouth just enough that you wanted the next bite. Their Halwa danish and the feta, leek, Za’tar were mouthwateringly delicious! And not to be outdone by the grilled sourdough bread that would just bind everything together. We will be back for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
