Bought a corned beef & steak bake pasty & 2 sausage rolls. What a horrid dinner, could not tell the pasties apart, could have been a average dog food inside as a filling. Not sure our dog were interested, normally he's all eyes when we're having a takeaway, not this time? Greggs & poundbakery are 100s times nicer, at least you can tell what the filling is. Never again!!

Our visit can only be described as chaotic. As nobody was clearing tables about half were out of use because they were stacked up with dirty pots from other tables. They were busy, but customers were turning away as no cleaned tables were available. Having cleared a table for ourselves, we ordered two mushroom omlettes (with salad and coleslaw) and two pots of tea. No coleslaw arrived on the plate. No tea arrived either. The tea was paid for when ordered, a staff member was reminded when the omelettes were served, but no tea arrived. When queried at the till, I was not offered any tea but told I could have my money back if I wasn't happy. So I took my money back and went to M&S for a cup of tea. This could be a thriving cafe, but the organisation is non-existent and staffing is obviously cut to the bone. Needless to say we won't be returning. PS - the omlettes were not good either.

Visited a couple of times recently. Easy place to visit, but not the most inspiring food. Could do with a menu re vamp I think! My partner had the all day breakfast which was quite sad looking all spaced out on a very large plate. I had the tuna melt which was nice but not an overly big portion.

I visited today with my young son and husband. I am lactose Intolerant so asked if several items on the menu had dairy in and none of the staff could clearly state what was in the food, despite a note on menu advising to ask staff for allergen info. I ended up not eating as I didn't want to risk it. I would avoid if you have any allergies or intolerances. Also the menu was limited due to them not having half of the stated food in.

My son and I visited for lunch. I fancied the soup but it was unavailable so I opted for the Christmas sandwich as there was a picture advertising it and it made it look delicious. Unfortunately when it arrived it was nothing like the picture. It was very dry and just contained cold cheap turkey roll and cold stuffing. At almost £5 I felt ripped off. My son had a cooked breakfast which was average, nothing special. The prices are too high for the quality of food served.

We visited the secret garden in Beverley recently at 13:00 hoping to have a cooked breakfast each. We were told the breakfasts were unavailable as were the cheese and ham melts due to till issues and lack of ingredients. We were told that we could order a bacon or sausage sandwich with all the trimmings including mushrooms, tomatoes etc A gentleman after us ordered beans on toast so I can’t understand why a cooked breakfast could not be prepared. Very odd. The cheese and ham melt was also unavailable but I ordered a pepperoni cheese toasty! Again weird. On leaving we noticed the chairs were fashioned to keep the larger side of the restaurant closed from customers arriving and we had to cross paths with new customers ordering at the counter. This was at 13:30! Some odd behaviour for a cosy little establishment we often look forward to using. We got the feeling the staff couldn’t be bothered making cooked breakfasts due to the time and the seating segregation added to this feeling. It’s a shame we encountered this behaviour and we can honestly say that unfortunately we will not be attending this place again and will take our money somewhere else that can accommodate a daily breakfast and who doesn’t look like they’re closing an hour n a half early! Note to managers: keep an eye on this behaviour as I’m sure it is losing you your monthly targets!!

My friend and I ordered a Prawn Omelette each but when they arrived we were really disappointed with them. They were so tiny and rubbery, with only a few prawns and a side salad. I made a remark about the size to the waitress but she wasn't interested. Unfortunately, at Secret Garden, people have to pay for their food when ordering. If it had been a matter of eating before paying, then we would have refused to accept them. Anyway, we ate them, and then still feeling hungry, we went elsewhere for something else to eat.

The Secret Garden in Brid was a favourite when the kids were little, so it was nice to discover this place. You do get a different perspective on them when you're not juggling sandwiches, buns and stuff. Mostly frequented by older visitors. Decor is an imagining of an Italian garden with statues, pergola and shutters at the windows. Easy going, no frills, food was basic and inexpensive.

As regular customers at this central restaurant, yesterday was a distinct disappointment from start to finish. the lady serving us was too busy complaining loudly to her friend about the growing queue to focus on her job. When she finally deigned to take my order, she raised her voice as if I appeared to be deaf - it was the other way round I'm afraid. Tiniest fun-sized omelettes I have ever seen! They were overcooked - very dry and rubbery. Takeaway paper cup placed upside down over a can of coke not what you expect in a cafe, also no cruet on the table, not offered any sauces, have to get your own knife and fork but this is not mentioned at the till. Talking of which, the girl on the till had no joy in her whatsoever. On the plus side you get a little jug of hot water with your pot of tea without having to ask! A few days ago , I was in Beverley sightseeing , and at some point I decided that I needed to have some lunch . After looking at several cafes and pubs , I eventually decided to give Coupland's Secret Garden cafe a try . I certainly wasn't disappointed !The cafe is situated in the town centre , upstairs above the baker's shop . The cafe was spacious and spotlessly clean . The decor was bright and cheerful , with nice lighting .A good range of snacks and meals were available , at very reasonable prices . I particularly liked the selection of cakes and pastries on offer . My meal consisted of a ham sandwich with garnish , Danish pastry and a mug of coffee . This cost just under £ 6. Unbelievable value . At certain times of the day there are special offers .For example ; Cream cake + cup of tea or coffee for £ 2 - 20 . Sandwich + cup of tea or coffee for £ 3 - 95 .With such value for money , it wasn't surprising that the cafe was busy .The service was quick and the staff were very polite and friendly . Next time that I am in Beverley , I will definitely visit this cafe again . Coupland's seem to have Secret Garden cafes in other towns in East Yorkshire .On my travels , I spotted one in Pickering and another in Scarborough .

Thought they may have been included in the full breakfast price but from the amount paid must have been add ons. The bacon was nice and the sausage. The fried egg was hard as seems to happen everywhere, had expected a cooked tomato but they were tinned ones which made the whole plate very wet! I have previously written a review about the Secret Garden Cooplands which I described as honest and reasonable food.It is quite popular and the staff friendly but I have to say the standards and service has dropped off. Sometimes it the wait to be served can be painfully slow and I have given up when waiting in the queue and left. The problem is there is normally just one staff on the till and another dealing with endless pots of tea whilst having to deal with food orders.I ordered a beef chili yesterday Thursday 9th, because I had eaten the same dish in the Cottingham café and it was delicious. This experience could not have been more different I could not find any mince in the dish and the whole thing was just nothing more than a chili paste with some rice. I had to leave the whole meal and go and eat somewhere else. If I do go back to the Beverley café again I will stick to the sandwiches.

The menu is limited but adequate and you will find something to your taste. The place is spotless, the staff friendly and helpful. The food is fresh and though not massive the portions are very fair. Egg, 2 slices of bacon,2 sausage, beans or tomatoes and toast for less than £4 is very fair and if your in before 11am you get tea or coffee included too. Beverley has a good number of eating places. Some are good some are bad and some are awful. Prices in general tend to be on the high side so this place is a welcome reprieve from the overpriced. Nothing fancy but good honest food at realistic prices.

I went to the cafe with my friend and was very pleased with the cheerful service I received. As well as the lovely food, staff were happy to help and I had a great experience there. I will defiantly be visiting again especially with the amazing offers they have.

The Secret Garden cafes run by Cooplands Bakers are generally pleasant and consistent good quality. There are some hot dishes on soup, chicken curry, baked potatoes, baguettes and a range of fresh sandwiches and cakes. The Beverley Secret Café is spacious and relaxing for a quick snack or a cup of something hot.

I visited during half term with my child, it was busy but the staff kept things moving well. We had a kids box and a jacket potato, the sandwich was freshly made and the potato was lovely and well presented. All the staff here were very friendly and I would definitely go back.

I can't understand the staff at this cafe getting any bad reviews.we are regular visitors and have always been met with lovely friendly smiles from the staff, including Saturday girls.Nothing seems too much trouble! Ok nowhere is perfect but the nice atmosphere is partly why we go there,as do many others.

Took mum here for a quick morning coffee and cake. Arrived at 10.45, to be greeted by a large queue. Plenty of free tables, although most had dirty pots on them. After waiting 15 minutes I finally reached the till. Ordered the hot drink and tea bread offer only to be told it was 11am and the offer had finished. I politely pointed out that I'd been queuing since 10.45 and this was unacceptable. The assistant begrudgingly put the order through. Not so for the gentleman behind me who asked for the breakfast special and was categorically told no! He said the same a me - been waiting for 15 mins. The assistant was very rude to him which resulted in a minor altercation where the assistant said they had to have a cut off somewhere and the man accusing them of being slow! Not the best start to the morning. My order arrived and was very nice - the food is always good in this café, but today's visit let it down and I would probably try somewhere else in the future despite the very reasonable prices charged for food and drinks.

If you love jacket potatoes that's the place! The portion are good and there is a 2 for £6 offer that I found unbeatable. I would recommend jacket with coleslaw salad or cheese in particular. The service is fairly fast even when it is busy.

Somewhat noisy and very tightly packed but the food is acceptable. There is however a major problem, getting up their to eat. The stairs seem to be the only way up and down!

I meet up with a friend for our monthly chat. They let you stay for as long as you wish without pointedly moving you on as some cafes do if you overstay your welcome.Lovely cakes, sausage rolls etc and the quiche salads are lovely too.My only gripe is the way they start their cleaning operations well before the cafe closes. It's a tad disconcerting when chairs are put on tables whilst you're still eating. Other than that, it's not bad at all.

I found this cafe on a cold foggy morning and enjoyed an excellent breakfast. This charming town has many places with a '5' hygiene rating and this is one of them. The cafe was immaculately clean. You pick up your tray, drink etc at the self service counter and place your order for any cooked food. Although it was fairly busy, my breakfast arrived quite quickly. It was generous, nicely served and hot. Very welcome and very good value too: a good plateful of hot food for 3.95 and, because it was before 11.00, a pot of tea included. The cakes looked delicious and my only regret was not having time to return later for one with another pot of tea! It's easy to miss the cafe as it's on the first floor. Don't miss the sign above the doorway in the street.

We visited here after our first choice was found to be closed unexpectedly. We made our choices, bacon sandwich for me, full English for my husband, and a pot of tea to share. Then he went to order at the counter, and was gone for over 20 minutes !! We then had to wait another 15 minutes for the waitress to finally bring our meals, it would have been ok if the food was then worth the wait, but it was very average, and not really worth the money.

This cafe is on the first floor with no disabled access which is a shame. It is an old style cafe (yet light decor meant to feel Mediterranean- it doesn't quite work) with the self service counter along the back wall with staff serving you hot drinks using old fashioned boiling water taps, steam shots to froth your milky coffee and a smile if they feel like it.The hot food is a little expensive and is just churned out easy food like sandwiches, jacket potatoes and soup etc. There are other cafes in Beverley with better food for the same price in Beverley. The staff don't smile very much. On our visit every one of them looked fed up. It was a shame.I wouldn't recommend this and wouldn't go back.

Dirty tables everywhere and the decor is just naff and dated felt like I was on some cheap film set with all the pergolas and plastic.Food is very processed tasting thats why its cheap in here.Staff quite nice, but dont come here if you need wheelchair access or have a pram as there are a few stairs to get up to the cafe.

We use this little café when visiting Beverley. It is very handy for a shoppers tea stop or a meal. They do morning and afternoon tea specials with an offer of tea bread or similar in the morning or a bun of the day in the afternoon, for a good price. Toilets for both are handy, for customers use naturally. Very handy nice and clean little café, upstairs above a bakers shop that funnily enough is not the Cooplands shop! Well worth a visit when in Beverley shopping.

We often go in here when shopping in Beverley. Although the inside decor is not great, it is bright, clean and very popular. You order and pay for your food/drinks at the counter and it is brought to your table. There is a little wait (it is usually very busy) but they do bring your drinks to the table whilst you are waiting. The food is nice, we especially like the corned beef hash served in a yorkshire pudding. There is a good selection and the portions are about right for a light lunch. The salads are also nice. A great place for a quick, light meal in the heart of Beverley. Good value for money too.

We come here often for a tea and a coffee as we don't like drinking in the chain coffee shops. Very big place, staff good, clean tables a lot, open and light. Drinks good, food a bit expensive but also good. Good coffee and cake offers in an afternoon. Love the hot chocolate too. Only downside is they might need some new mugs and pots. They look like they're getting a bit old and dirty.

We know of these cafes, as we visit the one in Scarborough when we visit. We got exactly what we wanted from our visit. Courteous staff, a lovely cup of milky coffee, a pot of tea (that easily gave you 2 cups), a very tasty custard tart and my daughter had a tea cake. It was all very clean as were the loo's.Everything was very reasonably priced.

We waited an hour for eggs and toast. Owner only cared about Door Dash orders going out the door. Given that Courtenay has so many great casual dining places, give this one a pass. Give your business to restaurants that care about providing good service to their customers.

Went today for lunch , I decided i was having soup , they said it was the last portion so that was fine , I asked for no bread which , when it came it was the smallest half bowl of soup for £6.25 , I didn’t want anything knocking off for not having the bread but did expect a full dish, looking at the menu I could of had a small breakfast, or sandwich for about the same price , it’s soup where do they get over £6 for it!!
