Coopers Bar & Brasserie in Leeds

So gone down hill. Used to have great beers, traditional pub grub, and great atmosphere. Previous owners please buy the pub back and restore it to how it was!

When we visited Coopers it was early evening with a scattering of people which was pleasant. The pub brews its own beers and largers and I have to say the 'Cammy' larger was excellent. It made my night and will be back soon

I popped in with friends for a late night drink and found it to be a perfect venue to drink and chat. Lots of ales to choose from and cheap Proseco for the girls. I can not rate the food as I've not eaten there.

2 large wines, 1 medium red and 1 beer, £28. Felt like city price. Not many people in bar so went upstairs to the Northern Soul night 4 till 8 every last Sunday of the month. Brilliant. Yet to try the food so cannot comment for now but heard it's OK.

Tuesday 20th December 2022 I visited this brilliant Guiesley real ale and good food drinking emporium There were at least 8 hand pumped ales on This pub had a grand atmosphere inside it with locals and bar staff happily chattering on. All in all I have to say this grand fmdrinkingband food imbibing place a must to visit when in Guiesley Saturday 13th July 2024 This pub in Guiesley was again visited by me today. There were 5 interesting teal ales on hand pump. The staff/ owners were very good and helpful today. This pub sold well looked after real ales. This Guiesly pub is one of the 2 best real ale pubs that is an essential visit for real ale drinkers when drinking in Guiseley today😀😀😀

Our favourite local is now absolutely back to its best since the takeover by Brew York. A fantastic range of top quality cask ales and selection of keg ales, lagers, cider and stout. The Tonkoko milk stout is just a taste sensation!! And since the recent introduction of food by Nikos Comfort Kitchen it has just gone up another level! The food is truly amazing!!! Warm, friendly, professional staff and a great mix of locals. Love this place!!

Recommend by my mate, we eat here with our friends from New Zealand. I love my food, and I like a nice beer with it too. These are the best burgers I have ever ever eaten. The tonkoko short rib is the best burger I’ve ever eaten. The salt and pepper burger is also a thing of culinary beauty. Andrew the chef is such a nice guy, and the staff are great too. The pilsner was really good too however I keep salivating over the short rib burger. I can’t wait to get back there!

Oh dear ! I have been coming here for some years. After it changed hands I came for a drink halfway through a Saturday night about 5 weeks ago and it was dead ! Noticed the new street-food menu and so went to try it tonight only to find a different (and very limited) menu. Had chicken burgers which were average but drinking very non-descript and flattish York Brewery Pilsner at £5.80 per pint put the lid on it. Absolutely no atmosphere, slightly uninterested staff, not very good beer and the menu have combined to make sure I take my business elsewhere in future !

We called in as we wanted lunch and most places in guiesley are very much the same. Wow blown away. Hubby had a short rib burger omg amazing, the homemade hot sauce was so moorish and the juices like liquid gold. I had little plates fries, mac and cheese with pineapple, mango and chilli chicken wings boom !!!!! Can not wait till next time

After a period of transition for Coopers it has really hit its stride. The Brew York beers are first class, the staff are friendly and really engage with you ans now the new food menu is exquisite. My son and I have just had the Nikos food (I accept the previous food was not for us), was bloody brilliant. I had two types of wings with salt and pepper chip, my lad, the chicken burger. We can't wait to have it again. Outstanding

Seems to have gone down hill in my opinion. Used to have a decent menu and serve lovely food…. Now it’s just a few Asian tapas/street food dishes. Not much to choose from and over priced!!

Coopers is on the main street in Guiseley and has a bar downstairs as well as a function room upstairs. On the last Friday of the months they have the Top Banana comedy show upstairs and we attended a week or so ago. The bar itself is pretty nice. A lot of seating and a good choice of nice drinks with the prices kept at a reasonable level to compete with the other local bars. Upstairs you are a bit crammed in and that is to be expected as it is a very small venue and it is better to have the facility in Guiseley than not, therefore I would WELCOME being crammed in like this every time if it means not travelling into the centre of Leeds. 3 comedians and a compere, and all of them were pretty awesome, in that I giggled my way through them all and more so than some larger and famous acts I have seen. I absolutely recommend this bar and the comedy club to anyone who likes comedy shows and anyone who likes bars, which means most people I would guess. The bottom bar is fully accessible, the function room is not, and you would need to keep this in mind if you have mobility needs. You can book tickets for the shows via the Top Banana website and they are really cheap at twelve pounds each. Cannot think of a negative. Loved every minute and will absolutely be back.

Arrived without a booking. Barman was very nice and told me to take a seat and the waitress would come and take my order. I ordered a drink at the bar before I sat down and thought it would go on a tab but asked to pay straight away. That’s ok, maybe they like to keep food and drinks separate. I sat down and there were no menus on the table. I waited a few minutes and had to ask for one. Not much choice to be honest. Just a few tapas dishes. I looked at the menu before I went and there was a lot more dishes than what were presented to me. I ordered a couple of dishes that were not very interesting, then I was asked to pay as soon as I ordered, before the waitress even ordered with the chef.. weird The food was bland and very average. I ate half of it because I was starving. Waitress came to take my dishes away and never came back to ask if I wanted desert or another drink. It’s a shame, I’ve been coming here for years and the food and service was always great.

We went to the comedy club in the function room above the bar. Great night as always lots of laughs. We didn't eat.

Beers are a bit ordinary since Brew York took over. But the atmosphere was nice. I'll be back again in a few weeks.

absolutely horrific do not recommend

First night opening the beer was horrible flat as.

Under new ownership, advertising bottles of Prosecco at £15 then charging approximately £25. When challenged on this I was told "That was the previous management". Then a piece of paper was placed over the price advertised on the blackboard. More to the point, no apologies!

Wednesday is the quiz time. We stayed for it after our meal and didn't regret.

Probably the best pub/bar in Guiseley. Great selection of draught and bottled/canned beers, lovely atmosphere and staff. The Comedy night that happens on occasional Fridays is also excellent.

popped in with the family for a bite to eat and a couple of drinks. food was really tasty i ordered the crispy belly pork and mash. some toys and board games for the kids and great music on. and verry friendly staff.

Nice place to go for a quiet drink with big variety of ales.

Had a great afternoon for Xmas dinner. Attentive staff, bar one!! Food was nicely cooked and presented. I chose pork over turkey and was disappointed to miss out on roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, parsnips, pigs in blankets and stuffing all for the same price?? Meanwhile the Xmas pudding option was minute compared to other desserts. Quality all good but I’d expect similar quantities??

The real gem of this fine establishment is the staff and always has been. Nothing short of fantastic and we’ve never felt so welcome. Warm, inviting and with beers/food to match. Reece and Tom are really one-of-a-kind, including Maisie, Liam, James and Hannah whom make you feel like friends. Special shout-out to Natalie and Josh. Thank you for everything.

Started an exploration of a few pubs in Guiseley here as the previous place didn't sell ale. This was a good decision as Coopers had a great range of beers and the staff were lovely. Also, the food was spot on. The place is quite discuss and open, with a pleasant decor (the shade of green on the ceiling reminded me of snooker tables; just missing a trick with not having coloured spots for the balls ☺️) For the grammar pedants out there, I know you'll be asking where the apostrophe is. If you figure it out, do let me know. I suppose it's a marketing and brand thing. Regardless, don't let it stop you from coming to an excellent pub.

Good bar with good selection of beers

Been coming to Coopers for a long while now. One of our favourite places to chill, meet friends and have a bite to eat. All the staff are extremely friendly especially Liam Olliver....always great to have a chat with, cheers Liam

Always a warm friendly welcome from the staff here, add to that a great range of beers and a sense of belonging that you get from a proper local makes it a great way to pass a few hours. We didn't eat this week so I have left the food rating blank, (although we have eaten here on many occasions and have had no complaints ) just settled for a few pleasant drinks served to us by Liam in his usual friendly manner

Just drinking on this occasion and as always made very welcome, especially by Liam who has worked there a very long time. Service is friendly and efficient. Great dog friendly pub 👍

We dined in the restaurant and had fantastic food. The beer and a pint deal was great value. Fresh food! We then ventured to the beer festival. As a fan of Pale Ale, there was a fantastic range to choose from, the band Motor City Blues provided a fantastic set with a range of music. Their performance was free of charge in aid of the charity raising funds. It’s fantastic that we have this pub with a great venue on our door step. Can’t wait to visit again!

Dog friendly pub that provides delicious food!

Been to coopers beer festival . I go around with camra . I paid £10 up front just lasted 45 mins . I normally do not go below 5.5 % . As you can get this in a normal pub . Yet I had to drop to 4.5 % as top range beers did not settle . Also on line needs to change as main bar just has 6 pumps not 8

Great food at reasonable prices - the Sunday Lunch is very good indeed. Great selection of beer: cask, craft and European. Wine list is smaller, but very good. Staff really helpful and friendly. What I like particularly is they do not just do the standard pub food, but some more interesting items. And even the normal pub fare (burgers, fish & chips, sausages etc) are done well. Reasonably good vegetarian choices. A lot of good lighter lunch options, which makes it one of my favourite places for lunch. Timothy Taylor's Landlord and Okell's Bitter are regulars, with a good rotation of other beers of wide ranging types. Decor is very nice, light and airy. Thoroughly Recommended for everyone, as everyone will find something to appreciate. Added: Now doing a great steak night on Thursdays. We had wonderful steaks at a very reasonable price. Even more offers now in place.

One of the things I loved about Coopers was the range of different drinks they servED. Unfortunately I think the company must be under new management, because at both Coopers & Bar Tat they have started serving more mainstream draft beer/cider that you could get anywhere. It's a good job they have such FANTASTIC staff or you could just go anywhere else.

Bloopers at Coopers ! No pie, no lamb koftas, no rump steak, no coffee. Instead bland and barely warm burger and child size portion of chicken and chorizo salad. Overpriced and underwhelmed! Why ask "how was the meal "then do nothing regarding the complaint?

Been many times before, but very disappointed this time. Many items from menu not available by 7pm. Portions small, burger luke warm. Coffee machine not working, which is a big disappointment for designated driver. All against the backdrop of going out being very expensive these days. Hospitality needs to give a quality service if we're to be tempted to spend money in these hard times.

I have nothing but praise for the staff, food and location. The prices were good and food cooked perfect. We had the Thursday steak night, amazing value, we will definitely be back!

The staff are friendly but I’m sorry your toilets are from a slum! They absolutely stink, I came in last week with 6 friends and one was blocked and the stench was eye watering. I was embarrassed in front of my friends because this was my recommendation. When I went later, the blockage was cleared but they still stunk. Thought they would have sorted but no! The following week I’m here with friends and they still stink. This makes me wonder about the kitchen and the rest of their cleanliness. Won’t be coming again.

Very nice and cosy pub. I especially liked the mulled wine. I visited Yorkshire and come from Germany. Our son in law likes Coopers Pub as well. Good beer and a dogfriedly house, nice and friendly guests. I enjoyed the stay.

Lovely menu, with a wide selection of beers on tap. We had a classic and sloppy Joe's burgers over a lunch time and they were great. Service was quick and polite. The atmosphere is great, nice layout and with board and card games available.

Only marked down for atmosphere as it was a Monday lunch but food and service great.

We were regular customers to Coopers before my wife became pregnant, coming for a drink most Sunday evenings to toast off the weekend. My wife gave birth a few weeks ago and we thought we would go for a drink on Saturday evening to cope with the heat -- for the last time at Coopers. The bar man was incredibly rude when gesturing that their licence doesn't accept infants. An over the top shake of the head topped it off. Had it been put to us in a understanding way it wouldn't have been an issue. Once welcomed with open arms. Seems to have lost its touch.

I love this bar. Dog friendly, variety of ales/beers/ciders, good bar snacks, and a nice eating area if you wish to be away from casual drinkers. They've also fit a small but cosy beer garden / smoking area into the back of the building.

Top notch Pub good, and the best kept beer that you will get served anywhere. Regularly come here with my wife and family/friends and it's always consistently good.

Went for sunday lunch was fab only problem was it was too much for me to eat. So will ask for a smaller portion. Great value for money

Been and was sadly disappointed. Ordered pie and chips and got a quarter of a slice of pie, and three chips for £9.60. I asked for ketchup and got the same white cup as what McDonald's use. Overpriced beer and bad service. Overall. I was that hungry I had to get a subway upon leaving. Don't go if you don't want to be mugged

Caters well for covid safety good beers and a wide range of wine gin etc...

Delicious food, great selection of beers and wine and felt very looked after by staff taking precautions to protect us from coronavirus
