We went to the Coopers Arms for a meal tonight. It was very welcoming with all the Christmas decorations. The food was brilliant and plentiful, and the service was first class as usual. Great to see Jeanette and Arron again along with Gary. They have really worked hard to provide a safe and welcoming atmosphere.

We called in on our way home from Stoke, having passed by dozens of times over the years, and found out what we have been missing. We sat outside as we had the dogs with us, but when it started to rain were shown to an inside table very quickly. We had roast beef and roast turkey which came with mash & roasties, yorkie & stuffing, 3 fresh veg & gravy. We ordered extra sides of yorkshire pud, pigs in blankets & cauliflower cheese. An extra gravy boat full of gravy was served as standard which was fab, as most places are very mean with the gravy, The yorkshire puds were to die for and the cauliflower cheese was lovely and creamy, The whole meal was perfectly cooked and plenty of it. The waitress was friendly and efficient. The ladies was really nice and clean, with gorgeous soap and handcream - a lovely touch. Would highly recommend.

We were coming back from dagfields antiques, the wife said she was hungry, I spotted the coopers arms and pulled up on the car park, plenty of parking, and because of the pandemic I went in and asked if they were doing food, yes the reply with a lovely smile and pleasant atmosphere, so I got the wife came back in where we were met by the waitress, she had on a mask but was really nice and showed us to a lovely clean table, we were given a menu, and the waitress said she’d come back when we knew what we wanted, we had 2 coffees and made our order, lamb shank and a pie of the day, food came out in 10 to 15 minutes, the food was superb, really really nice, presented lovely really hot and we were offered salt/pepper and any sauces, we ate the food and ordered another coke and a coffee, my wife had a desert fudge cake, I was full, fudge cake came out and same again my wife loved it, the waitress cleared the tables and really looked after us, I genuinely can not fault the place, we left paid our bill and we will definitely use the coopers arms again, I just wished we lived closer, 100% recommend the place

Just been for a first post lockdown meal having not eaten here before and have to say it was superb. All social distancing adhered to and hand sanitizer etc but still felt like a friendly atmosphere. Food took about 40 minutes to arrive but this is because it's all freshly cooked and we chatted and had a few drinks while waiting. The roast was amazing, crunchy roast potatoes, lovely Yorkshire and a side of cauliflower cheese that warmed the soul....and I dont even like cauliflower!! Can whole heartedly recommend for a great 'social distance' meal

When we arrived for our lunch today we thought how cold it was inside, however when we saw that there were two fires and neither were lit we couldn't believe it. Everyone had there coats on ,and one customer even mentioned how cold it was, but the fires were still not lit ! And also you get a desert included with your roast dinner, but you are charged £2.95 for cauliflower cheese and 50p for a Yorkshire pudding! I have never been anywhere that charges for these, so really you are paying for a desert!

The food was amazing we had the Sunday lunch. The staff were friendly and although the service was slow it seems that is not the usual case so perhaps a bad day. Our only gripe to spoil an otherwise excellent meal in a nice country pub was the mistake of giving us a table which had obviously been booked by an elderly couple who were non too pleased when they turned up for their lunch. This was not our fault but the gentleman in question continued to throw comments as we ate so was a little annoyed. This was a genuine mistake and credit to the staff who tried their best to appease the couple with another table.Thank you again and compliments to the chef

Went to the Coopers Arms a couple of weeks ago for Sunday lunch with the family and the food was great so decided to go back with just the husband today. Wednesday night is supper club, 2 courses for £9. We both had mushroom soup which was really tasty and filling. I had the butternut and goats cheese lasagna which was massive, freshly cooked and packed with flavour. My husband, a fussy eater, had the liver, mash and onion gravy which he couldn’t fault. The food is obviously cooked by someone who loves cooking. The quality is good, presentation excellent, packed with flavour and very generous portion sizes. Staff are friendly and service quick. We were passing threw and called for Sunday Lunch. The staff are very pleasant and obliging and it seemed reasonable as it made out that you were getting a free pudding, The lunch came we had beef so traditionally we had the Yorkshire pudding with that and we had cauliflower cheese. The lunch was lovely, but the beef was like pressed meat, awful. I had bread and butter pudding which i normally love, but i am sorry to say it was awful. When we payed the bill i though it was dearer than expected. I new we had to pay for the cauliflower cheese, but they charged extra for the Yorkshire puddings. Eaten here many times in the past & never disappointed so decided to pop in for lunch today, how wrong could we be. When we walked into the pub all we could see were reseved notices on the tables, a few diners were already seated but it wasnt busy. I asked one of the waitresses if there was a table free for 2 & she promptly went to ask a woman behind the bar who was either the proprietor or manager. The woman asked if we were "walk ins" & the waitress said yes - the woman abruptly replied " no we haven't got anything". As we left the pub feeling extremly unwelcome we spotted one table laid for 3 which was not reserved. So they could have easily accommodated us but they prefered to turn business away - our money is as good as anyone elses. We ended up at The Elephant in Shavington who had a table ready for us in 15 minutes and the food & staff were excellent.

We have visited this pub many times over the last few years and have always had a good meal but since its refurbishment (Cant see what they have refurbished) it has gone so bad.We went there for my birthday meal, a party of five of us. When we arrived at 3.00pm there a lot of the tables reserved but none were taken later in the evening so who they were reserved for is a mystery. We were sat and the waiter came over and explained that there was a few things on the menu that they had run out of. about five in total. we placed our order at about 3.20pm and about 20 minutes later a second waiter came over and advised that they had run out of an item we had ordered. We made a different choice and waited for a further 30 minutes for our starters to arrive. The starters were probably the best part of the meal and they were below average at best. My son has leek and potato soup and it had a half piece of potato in it. The starters were cleared and we had to wait a further 20 minutes for our main courses, even though there was only 2 other people eating at this point. The mains came out at last. I had ordered the belly pork with apple gravy. It looked like processed apple sauce added to bisto. The belly pork was obviously cooked in advance and re-heated in a microwave as the bottom of it was absolutely burnt and too hard to cut. The beef bourginon was watery and had very little meat in it.At this point we saw the chef coming out of the kitchen to get a drink from the bar. He was scratching his nose and face and looked filthy like his uniform needed a good wash.We decided not to have desserts as we couldn't handle any more disappointment. One of the party was drinking wine and the measures were short every time. The restaurant was offering a free bottle of bubbly for any pre booked table to celebrate someone's birthday. We were told you only qualify if the table is booked by the person celebrating their birthday. We complained and they did let us have the wine. When we went to pay I was disgusted at the way the manager spoke to his staff. We were paying by card and the young girl was struggling with the card machine. The manager called her all sorts of names and berated her in front of the customers. We will never be visiting here again.

We have asked ourselves why we have not stopped here before. The greeting from the young lad was great with a wonderful smile. We waited quite a while for the meals but oh boy they were worth the wait. I had the Chicken in Stilton and my darling wife had Gammon and Peach Salad, sensational!!!My little niggle, the Wifi was not working and when I asked I was told it might be to do with Punch Inns and no real effort to sort it out. But hey we came here to eat and you had better believe we will be back very soon for another wonderful meal. You must really try this place guys.

I visited this venue over 12 months ago and liked it. After reading the terrible reviews I decided to go back and try it for myself. I am sorry to say the terrible reviews are correct. Not many customers in the pub but we still had to wait 15 minutes for our order being taken despite us telling the staff we were ready to order, their reply was the same "Julie will take your order", It's as if they were afraid. Something is very wrong with the way things are run, I won't visit them again and would not recommend my family or friends to visit the pub.

Very poor. Waited 15 minutes before order was taken, when it arrived only 2 meals arrived, 3rd meal arrived 20 minutes later when refused to take the meal only then were we told we wouldn't have to pay for it, ( damn right.) Half way through the meal between the slices of meat was a fly. The manager was aggressive and unprofessional, had no intention in listening to us, he says and I quote ( you will get fly's because it's warm) The manager is not interested what the customer has to say if you are complaining, needless to say we won't be dining there again.

My Husband & myself have been regular diners here for over 10 years. This visit My Husband's 60th Birthday was the LAST. Terrible Service. Not even A 'Happy Birthday' from any of the staff, despite a 60th helium balloon on the table & birthday cake given to them. Table booked for 1 pm. meals arrived at 2.30. My 3 Grandchildren were so hungry we had to buy them crisps. No apology. We had been quoted a 25 minute wait when ordering. After 45 mins we politely inquired where it was. A member of staff asked behind the bar & we witnessed A roll of the eyes & a Tut from him. The reduced portions looked pathetic on child sized plates. We were so disgusted we had no desserts & we took the birthday cake home to have there. The 60th Birthday Celebration was a disaster. Attitudes towards paying customers need to be changed by staff. No more recommendations just poor memories.

Bad service. Rude, slow staff and extreme waits are not good enough. Lovely bar and location ruined by staff that can not answer any simple questions, provide what you need or smile. No friendly banter or friendliness. I felt like I was an inconvenience just being there. Fresh new waitresses are definitely needed. We had to ask twice for service. 20 mins just to order. Drinks were served then left on the bar and not delivered. We were told when booking we would get free wine for a bday. It's advertised on their walls as you go in too. They did not like this and would not deliver until we had pestered 3 times. We had to buy bar snacks to feed the kids as they were so hungry waiting. The man behind the bar is so rude. Extremely miserable face, he tutted at me because he had to fetch more crisps from the back. He had walked off before I finished my order. Then when the waitress asked him where the food was for us, he rolled his eyes. No apology just keep waiting.Food took an hour to come out on top of 20 mins to order. We were asked what condiments, 10 mins to fetch them. The restaurant was almost empty at this stage. The food in all fairness when it came was absolutely delicious and hot (although all tiny quantities. Adults same size as kids) the only horrible meal was the megastack burger. Fatty and the pulled pork couldn't be cut, it was also served on a child's plate with 1 onion ring and 7 chips.Decided to save £50 and leave deserts & coffees as couldn't wait to go home.First time I had ever not left a tip too.I wish i had read the reviews on here before visiting. This business will not survive unless the owner starts listening to his customers reviews & deals with the issues, instead of challenging people to ring him to discuss.People don't want to argue, They just don't want their occasions ruined.

Travelling home from our latest jaunt, we were feeling a little peckish. I had decided that our homeward would be a scenic way of travel from Chester. We meandered along twisty lanes enjoying the countryside,(much better than motorways). It didn't matter that we met roadworks, temporary traffic lights, & great artics. Entering the village of Woore, temp. trafficlights halted our travel at a T junction, dead opposite "Coopers Arms". Time for a comfort stop & a chance for food & beverages. Luckily, they were still serving food. With drinks ordered we surveyed the menu. I chose "escollop of pork" with trimmings, Pat chose chicken wrapped in Parmesan ham. A healthy appetite is required, should you choose to eat here, which I certainly recommend. No doubt we'll call again should we be in this area. Compliments to the host & all the staff. Alan & Pat.

Awful family meal!I wish I’d reacted to my instinct and walked out before ordering! After being told by a waitress that she only had one table available (although the restaurant was empty) we sat down and perused the menu. Once we'd ordered the waitress then began to move 4 tables to make a long table, rather than ask a colleague for help, she simply dragged and pushed the tables along the floor making a god awful noise dropping cutlery as she did so. We found ourselves talking louder to one another and cringing over the noises! My husband's chair was knocked by the waitress trying to squeeze a high chair through a gap that was far too small.I opted for the Vegetable lasagne which was extremely dry and the only thing to taste was chewy cheese? My husband chose the battered cod which looked a lovely fish but had zero taste. My daughter had chicken nuggets which she described as slimy. ALL of our chips were chewy and rubbery! Chewy chips how?The kitchen bell was constantly being rang, which would start with a single 'ding' to more ferocious dings as the impatience of the kitchen spilled out into the restaurant. We were never asked if we were enjoying our meal.We ate the meal as we were all hungry having waited to eat what we thought would be a lovely meal. We paid and promptly left and we all vowed never to return.I can see from other negative reviews that the owner is keen to reply and blame the guests for their awful experience. To the owner - I wish you luck in your business and advise you to take these reviews and work on what is wrong with your business to make it a success.

Ordered Thai Fish Cakes for main course expecting "Soft cod flakes and prawns combined with lemon grass, ginger spices and shredded potato with a crispy dusted coating served with sweet chilli dip" as described on the menu. What actually arrived was 2 hard, dry, cheap brand type supermarket type fish cakes which contained no recognisable pieces of either cod or prawn, and no hint of lemon grass or ginger. They would have been more aptly named potato cakes and the accompanying vegetables were cold and over cooked. The dessert was not better. The fruit crumble was again comparable to the cheapest supermarket brand, i.e. overly sweet with rock hard crumble.Although the restaurant was not busy (despite being the bank holiday weekend), the staff were very slow in taking our order and hard to get hold of throughout the meal.We have eaten here many times before and the food has been nice so were rather surprised to find the standard had fallen so dramatically. Not a very nice experience overall!

Total cost came to £29.25.The food was well presented and tasty, and the staff pleasant and helpful. Very pleased with our first experience of dining here

Standards have fallen way below what is acceptable in recent times at this once flagship gluten free country restaurant. The food CAN be of a really high standard and the menu is fabulous but what is served up has become increasingly inconsistent to the point of being inedible on occasion. This could be overlooked if the senior staff were not so surly and rude. Requests that one source of music be maintained, rather than music from the bar competing with music from the kitchen were sneered at disdainfully; a request for a particular table in an almost empty restaurant was met with sarcasm and so on. The reason such a nicely situated, nicely furnished eatery with such a good specialist menu is always empty is that the management are not up to the job. Arrogant, rude, miserable, smelling of stale cigarettes, can't smile or look you in the eye. No idea how to be with people. Sell up and give someone else a chance. Never again.

We were so happy to find a place that advertised a gluten free menu and found the menu to be good to their word. For 3 months we travelled from Stoke at least twice a week and introduced family and friends. The refurbishment is really quite nice and the menu adequate and reasonably priced. However, the standard of the food has slowly but surely gone downhill. We ordered the same thing twice in one week and one day it was quite nice and the next it was bland and very different. The loud music/racket from the kitchen competing with the music in the restaurant is unbearable. There is always 4 or 5 items not on the menu. One of the older waitresses stinks of stale fags and the man behind the bar is so miserable and rude it can hardly be believed. We wondered why the place was always quite empty, it's taken us 3 months to realise why. I have taken to writing this after one of my family members was subjected to extreme rudeness by the man and I feel embarrassed that I recommended this place to them

The coopers I have visited for many years. Steak has always been fantastic. However the last 2 times I have visited I have been more than disappointed. Staff quick to tell us what they haven't got on the menu. Empty pub, kitchen playing rap music very very loud, with swearing in I might add, which has always been the case. No atmosphere in the restaurant. Then the meal. The steak could of been cooked one of 2 ways. In the microwave or boiled. That steak hadn't seen a pan. It was shrunken, dry and almost grey in colour, for just under £20. The steak sauce was disgusting, at just under £4.Over priced and not very nice.Happy staff wouldn't go a miss either.Never to return

Decided to pop in after visiting bridgemere for a bite to eat . Greeted as we entered the door and was shown to our table by a polite young girl who took our orders for drinks and gave us the menu to look at . Both myself and my husband chose fish with chips ( hubby having cod and I having plaice) . Food was lovely especially my plaice ,large portions and well worth £8.00 paid . We will definitely be coming here again but for a Sunday dinner next . A reminder to people thinking on dining here in the evening or at weekend to book beforehand as it is a very popular place to dine . Gorgeous old country pub in a beautiful country village well worth a visit .

Took my mother for lunch on Saturday but very disappointed with the service. We waited at our table for what seemed like ages (bearing in mind it was not at all busy). I finally went to the bar to ask for a menu to be told it would be brought over to us. I then went back to the bar to ask if we could place an order. Was told someone wold be over to us. After 25 minutes we finally placed our order. After 10 minutes we were told that there was no naan bread to go with our curry. This was not a problem as we had both ordered fish and chips. Food actually arrived quite quickly after the delay in ordering and was very nice. After our main course we asked for desert menu (I had to go up to the bar AGAIN to ask for the menu which was brought over to the table - when they were ready to do so and not a moment before). We waited for almost 15 minutes to place order for desert and then just gave up. I asked for the bill. It did not arrive so I finally went to the bar again and paid there. We were obviously invisible to the staff. It is a shame because the food was nice and it would have been a good place for us to have lunch on the way home from our regular visits to the local garden centre. I dread to think what the service would have been like had the place been busy!

Been to this venue twice and disappointed both times. First time ordered well done duck breast, which may be an abomination in some people's opinion. What I received was an abomination in anyone's opinion. The breast had been sliced and put under the grill and was tough, burnt and totally inedible. The second visit I ordered beef and stilton lasagne with salad and garlic bread. Who can get that wrong? The Coopers. The lasagne was ok but where was the stilton? It's a flavoursome blue cheese, you can see and taste when it's in a dish and it had been no where near this one. Then we come to the garlic bread, the worst I've ever had. A warm bun cut in half and spread with butter with a bit of garlic IS NOT GARLIC BREAD. If you go as a party they don't apply the daily specials and at our previous visit when celebrating three birthdays we had to repeatedly ask for the complementary bottle of fizz which is embarrassing. Really hope no more family get togethers planned there as I prefer to stay at home and have food I can enjoy.

The menu choice for gluten free is great. Chicken, pasta, fish. There are gluten free starters and lots of gluten free puddings. It is average price with a main course being about £9. The staff are friendly and the pub is clean and homely! Worth a visit if you are local.

It is not often I have been so scathing about the service offered at a pub/restaurant but in many years this was the worst ever experienced. In a nutshell (only because I could write a complete essay on the poor service) it was over 20 minutes before our food order was taken. Despite several complaints to the indifferent staff we still had not received any food bearing in mind we had ordered a starter and main course after a further hour and ten minutes. Staff deliberately avoided eye contact and eventually I had to stand up and give the waitress an ultimatum that if the food hadn't arrived in 2 minutes we were leaving. At that point several people in the pub applauded as they were experiencing the same problem. Five minutes later no food so I opened the kitchen doors and said that I was leaving and assumed the drinks were complimentary. The waitress turned round and simply shrugged. Avoid at all costs, over 90 minutes wasted and a day out spoilt

Had been told food was good which it was. It just didn't have a soul, went to order drinks at the bar told to take a table and we'd be served drinks and food at it. Tables unfortunately placed to maximise the amount they could get in, made it feel more like a cafeteria. As I said the food was good, but won't be going again, I like good food in a friendly atmosphere and sadly the Coopers didn't have this.

We were recommended this cafe and we weren’t disappointed. My husband and I had the ‘Chocks Away’ full English and as the delivery guy hadn’t been yet we had home made hash browns which were fabulous, and the eggs were double yolkers. Our friends had scrambled eggs on toast and had mounds! Highly recommend this place and the view was great.

Defensive manager does not value feedback! This place will therefore not improve. We visited the restaurant as believed it to be part of a good quality complex. Our arrival was greeted cheerfully and we were shown to a 2 seater table. That’s where any notion of customer service ended. My partner went up to the counter to order a starter and 2 meals…. Our drinks arrive promptly. …tick tick… 20 minutes go by. People who arrived after us start getting their meals… …tick tick… I go over and ask what’s happening. I’m told “It’s busy“ …tick tick… I ask again. “It’s busy.” More people who have subsequently come in are served. Eventually the manager (who I saw looking at tickets behind the kitchen) came over with our mains. No starter of soup. What followed was incredible! She insisted that the cock up was our fault! Apparently, the lack of soup was because she could not possibly know what was ordered, what should be a starter and how many people were at each table. That excuse would work in a service station, but we are talking about a place that charges handsome price’s commensurate with table service - but with no table service. We will never go back.
