Wish i could leave 50 stars! Beautiful quiet and peaceful campsite with beautiful views of the countryside and surrounded by cows and sheep. Tanya is lovely to deal with and Mark who manages the site is an absolute legend. He's friendly, knows loads about the area and goes out of his way to make sure everyone has a great time There are only 2 loos and showers on site (both unisex) but with such a small site we didn't have to wait at any time. The showers are great, no button to keep pressing and adjustable temperature. There's a baby change unit, hairdryer and straighteners. Fridge outside with an honesty box for local produce, and a wonderful cookery equipment shop which also sells amazing cakes Bus stop not too far away and absolutely loads to see and do in the area 100% going to be returning

We rented Humblebee cottage for a week and it was absolutely delightful! Tanya, Annie and Mark made us very welcome, the home-made ginger cake waiting for us in the kitchen didn't last long :-) The cottage itself was spotless, clean and tidy, plenty of space for the four of us and WiFi on tap to help plan days out. It was an ideal base for exploring the waterfalls and wilds of the Dales and Moors, ambling round the Shambles in York, taking tea at Betty's in Harrogate and visiting the Royal Armoury museum in Leeds. Not to mention a local hidden gem of the Spruisty Bridge within a short walk. The cottage's kitchen was fully equipped, so we could make dinners and breakfast with fresh eggs from the little shop ("Cooking Fantastic") on site. We stayed long enough to need to use the washing machine, but couldn't find enough drying racks - Tanya and her lads immediately magicked one for us out of knitting wool and stools to save the day! We had a great stay in a beautiful part of the country, and wanted to thank Tanya, Annie and Mark.

From the warm welcome by Annie and interactions with Mark over our stay this site stands out from the rest as being so friendly and warm without being claustrophobic. The site itself was perfect - not cramped or busy as they count people not pitches and beautifully kept. The toilet block was unisex which took a bit of getting used to compared to others but made perfect sense here. It was consistently spotless and well stocked. Easy walk to either the farm shop when open or the local supermarket shop and great transport links by bus, train or road. We used a variety to get around with no problems. We needed levelling blocks for our van which we carry with us but I’m sure could have been asked for if not. Despite living rurally we loved waking up to the cows in the morning and wildlife spotting in the fields. The simple and very sensible rules and guidelines ensured safety and comfort for all and our young (and sometimes excitable!) terrier was made very welcome. We really hope this site continues as it’s obviously been created with great care and love and that shows through in its uniqueness. We tend to keep to ourselves when we go away but people were so friendly here it was impossible not to really enjoy interacting with others. Thank you for a lovely stay.

I have been to Cooking Fantastic many times and sampled many of Tanya's delicious home-made cakes, so she was the first person I thought of when I was looking for someone to make a large gluten-free carrot cake for a family occasion. Shame I didn't take a photo as it looked fabulous.... and it tasted even better! So moist and fresh with a very tasty topping on it. It went down an absolute storm with my family. I realised when collecting it that Tanya also makes fruit pies to order, so I'll definitely be ordering one of those in the future too. Highly recommended - Tanya is such a lovely person, the kitchenware shop is an Aladdin's cave of all sorts of gadgets you never realised you wanted or needed (!), and the cakes are simply delicious. And which other kitchenware shop can you go to where you can drink coffee and eat home-made cake while you browse?! Thanks a million, Tanya.

I have been to Cooking Fantastic many times and never had anything but good experiences. The staff are lovely and friendly (especially the owner Tanya) and the cheese scones are the best I have ever had. It's a lovely place to take children - they have decorate your own biscuits and cute welly boot glasses for the drinks. Dogs welcome too. The cooking shop next door is a great place for treating yourself or buying presents. Highly recommended.

The carrot cake was to die for and the milkshake in a welly boot was so cute. We had a member of our party who is gluten intolerant and they had multiple options for him - ended up with 3 of our group having the gluten free chocolate cake and said it was delicious. Great selection for a small cafe and such friendly staff.

Tanya and the team always deliver great service and even better cakes. Nothing is too much trouble for them, even when a crowd of campers from the Cud Life’s own campsite arrived en masse before the proper opening time. Cheese scones are a particular favourite, but every cake we’ve tried has impressed. The milkshakes (served in welly boots) are gorgeous.

We arrived here at lunchtime hoping for a light lunch only to find that the only savoury food available was cheese scones. However we all had coffee and cakes/scones, and it was all delicious. Lots of different coffees available, incl decaff, and the large mug is really big. The cafe is quite small and cosy. Staff take your order at the table, and service is speedy and friendly. There is just one toilet for everyone. The adjoining cookshop is amazing with everything you could ever want for your kitchen, plus lots of present ideas. Staff seems very knowledgeable about what they sell. Sadly this place is only open Thurs, Fri & Sat which is a shame. Plenty of free parking. Access is up a narrow drive.

We came a couple of weekends ago on a Sunday and were very disappointed to find it closed! Think they must be missing some good business on a Sunday. We came early on Saturday morning and my children all had welly boot milkshakes which they loved. I ordered a tea and toasted teacake very tasty, unfortunately the muddy puddles (little wellies made of toast with various things to dip) came awhile later as it had been forgotten, very apologetic staff all forgiven when my children finished every last morsel. Would definitely return to try more of the menu!

My children and I visited here while we were staying on the adjacent campsite. After putting up our tent we felt that we needed a reward and were tempted by a delicious chocolate milkshake served in a glass wellington boot. If the welly boot glass isn't novel enough for you, there are 3 different sizes to choose from; all generously sized, the large one is ENORMOUS and was plenty for 4 of us, served with cream and marshmallows on top and 4 curly straws. The cafe is only open from Thursday to Saturday and judging from the other clientele who were clearly not camping, it has a loyal local following. The focus is on drinks, cakes and soup. Perfect! We will definitely be dropping in next time we camp here to try to try the strawberry milkshake.Cooking Fantastic itself is an Aladdin's cave of kitchen equipment and cooking utensils, including a comprehensive selection of cake decorating goodies. You are bound to find something that you just know is going to make you an even better cook.

The proprietor is obviously artistic and a great deal of thought has gone into the presentation of food and drink. The apple pie was delicious and the banoffie pie is famous in the area. There is also the Aladdin's cave of wonderful kitchen equipment - I bought several things, but could have spent a full day there. The café only sells drinks and snacks. I would certainly have bought a main meal there if it were available. I'm sure it would be very good!As the Cud Life is only open a few days a week, we thought it wouldn't be very popular. I have just read the managers new reply. OMG, shocked. I think the tone and the fact that my mobility issue had to be on show for all to see is an insult. As we were offered a short low down bar stool as my wife has mobility issues. Lady who showed us in, then didn't seem happy we were not accepting the stools. She took us back outside to wait outside the door and told us we would have a long wait and asked us to wait until the table came free. NOT THE QUEUING PROCESS that was the problem. It was how we were spoken to and treated because we didn't accept what was offered. Lady talked to us like a school mistress, then pointed and was aggressive at one point all because i moved to look in the shop window and away from the queue point she had placed us at. We were not there to be spoken to like naughty school children, so we left. All because we weren't standing in the right spot outside, whilst only us were there. Raised with the manager who seemed to think her attitude was OK, as does the owners reply to my review, not exactly a professional reply, just excuses for poor customer service. Shame as I was taking my husband there for the first time and with a wedding in mind for an outfit, as it came highly recommended. Will be sharing my experience with others. My advice avoid as they might have great food, their customer service wasn't great, and the owners' reply is not accepting perhaps they got it wrong. DISAPPOINTING 😞

It was everything I had hoped for. Beautiful, top quality food in a relaxed but resolutely professional setting. The chefs, Aled and Richard, are incredibly skilled and chatted easily to the table of ten while plating our 14 'snacks' - I was pretty full by round 10 but managed to squeeze in the fabulous final four sweet dishes. The team set an ideal pace, moving us along through the varied menu without feeling rushed. Paul, the sommelier, was a wonderful host. Greeting us with champagne on arrival and curating a varied and interesting selection of wine pairings with charming introductions for each one. He also doubled up as an excellent cocktail maker as the evening progressed. Book it now you won't regret it!
