Connor's in Dumfries & Galloway

I would love to review my dining experience but we didn’t get that far. I phoned and booked about 10 days before our visit to Portpatrick and booked a meal Sat at 7.15. When we arrived if was in darkness, all closed up. Back at our hotel where luckily they fit us in at their restaurant the waitress said ‘oh didn’t they tell you they were closing?’ Obviously they decided to, presumably, shut for the winter and that was locally common knowledge. No common courtesy of a phone call to let us know. Really cheesed off. I tried to contact them for an explanation but no-one responding to calls.

Had a superb meal here with excellent service. We were very upset to be told that the restaurant was closing permanently the following evening. Such a shame

We eat out a lot in various different types of establishments from local pub to fine dining and the meal here could not be faulted to the point I didn't want my mixed seafood risotto (not a mussel in sight) to finish. French onion soup done right with cheese and croutons was devoured. Absolutely faultless, delicious, and exceptional value for money.

We stopped here on a quick trip. Food was excellent and service great. We had the three course lunch menu which was excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent food and a very nice restaurant with views across the harbour and affordable prices. A little more expensive than the local pubs but a much better dining experience. We ate there twice during our three night stay and only ate elsewhere when the restaurant was closed. On both occasions we drank the house wines, a white and a rose and they were respectable too.

Lovely spot right on the harbour. We had Sunday lunch here with Gammon that would melt on your tongue and a seafood bisque that was just the right side of spicy. They have a lovely dry house white from Languedoc that doesn’t break the bank….we will be back very soon

Highly recommend this place from the great knowledgeable staff to the excellent food and not to pricey....I had the recommended sea bass and my wife the sizzling katsu chicken....we weren't disappointed the flavours were amazing 😋

My lamb steak with minty pea & sauce was gorgeous; my partner's seafood pancake was well received as well. The lemon posset was to die for !

This restaurant was our highlight of an overnight trip after a very wet day. Dinner was very enjoyable and we are fussy. Staff super polite even when busy. I would book again so don’t be put off with the negative comments. Good view of the harbour area.

Food was lovely. Went for dinner one night and it was so nice we immediately booked again for the following night. Good variety of food, lovely fresh ingredients, very tasty sauces. Really enjoyed our experience there.

We didn’t have a reservation but they gave us a table no problem. The young waitress was very helpful. We really enjoyed our meal. It wasn’t cheap but worth it! I had chicken of some kind on delicious noodles! My husband loved his chicken satay. Would definitely recommend this place!

We visited 3 evenings and would have done more but closed Wednesday and Thursday. The food was excellent, staff very friendly and a lovely atmosphere. Over looking the harbour it is in a nice position to relax and have a lovely meal. Highly recommended!

Dinner was ok but not as good as anticipated from reading previous reviews. Not much atmosphere and single server overstretched.

Service was great - excellent young lady looked after us for the evening - nothing was too much trouble - food was tasty and well presented . Gosh of the day was yummy ! Would have got 5/5 if the outside space to eat was more inviting - don’t be out off by the great facade as it’s cool inside . My advice to them would be paint the building a nicer color and get some hanging baskets / pots on the outside space .

This is clearly the best place to eat Portpatrick. The food was of the best quality and cooked to perfection. The service was excellent with the waitresses being polite, efficient and attentive. The whole eating experience was a real delight. I would advise you book a table or you could well be very disappointed. This is a true little gem which will please even the best travelled food connoisseur.

Service was really slow considering there was only a handful of tables being occupied at the time. Had booked Sunday but was unaware they run a very limited menu on Sundays, (only 5 main courses available) as they don't have a website to view the menu and only display it on the day. Had creamy garlic mushrooms that were decent flavour, but served on a small soggy piece of ciabatta. Also had to ask for a wine chiller for our bottle of white wine as it was brought without one. Main course was coley on butter beans and tomato sauce, but the fish was very dry, I guess it had been overcooked, which is pretty disappointing when they only have to prepare 5 different mains all night. Service was really slow, nearly 40 mins for the starter and a total of 2 hrs for 2 courses. Overhead other diners and they also seemed surprised at the lack of choice. Didn't help matters when one table was served seafood platters off menu and when many enquired about this option we were informed you need to order days in advance, but how can you do that if there is no mention to you when booking the table?All in all a disappointing meal all round and had been looking forward to eating there based on other reviews

My husband and I had the most delicious meal on Friday 16/10@4.30pm as part of his Birthday. We ate inside, so no alcohol. Staff were very pleasant and ensured social distancing was maintained. We will definitely be back 👍🏻

Absolutely delicious meal in here, the tomato soup was the best I've ever had and plentiful portions. Each course we had was 5 out of 5 with generous portions and cooked really well, delicious fresh prawns and the chefs passionfruit and orange cheesecake was lovely. The service was good, the staff were friendly and they handled covid restrictions well, tables spaced out, masks and hand gel, felt comfortable whilst here. Reasonably priced and worth every penny (had a meal elsewhere the night before at the same cost and nowhere near as good or enjoyable). Great menu with good choice, kids menu and restaurant also offering takeaway. We booked this restaurant as it was one of the few places available in Portpatrick to dine at 4pm before 6pm closing restrictions and it was absolutely a lucky hit.... I think this is likely the nicest restaurant within Portpatrick with really good quality food and a nice clean pleasant environment with lovely views a cross the harbour. I recommend you visit here whilst in Portpatrick.

This is probably the most up-market of all of the very good eateries in Portpatrick. Visited twice over six days and it was very enjoyable. A very tasty meat-menu including duck and pork medallions.

Connors is a must if you are staying in or around Port Patrick.The food is just scrumptious and of a very high standard.The service is also amazing.The location is beautiful.We visited twice last year and three times this year and we have absolutely no complaints at all.Highly Recommended.

The food at Connors can't be faulted. We didn't have a dessert because we didnt have room! The starters and mains were both excellent. the staff were friendly and attentive. We visited during Covid restrictions but felt very safe with the procedures Connors had in place. Go and enjoy - time it right and you,ll even get a sunset over Portpatrick harbour!

Phoned to try and book for a Friday night during a holiday weekend but was told unfortunately fully booked but would put me in the reservation list only to get a phone back within 10 mins saying they had a cancellation which i gladly took . Im glad we got a table the food was fantastic and the staff so friendly even with all the covid restrictions. Will definitely be back next time we are down i portpatrick. Definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends.
