Absolutely brilliant weekend. Family time with sister brother in law, brother sister in law and sister’s sister in law and husband. Well that’s a bit of a tongue twister. We had a fabulous weekend together. Weather wasn’t great but the service and meals made up for it. Food was of the highest standard. Good quality and healthy home made recipe’s with plenty of it made our visit all the more special. Staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Very clean with an emphasis on Covid 19 safety precautions. Every member of our group agreed that they would certainly go back for another visit, so we have booked rooms for the same time next year. A big thank you to the staff who worked so hard to make our stay so enjoyable. Margaret Anne.

The Lentil soup was of good substance, but under seasoned and (just) warm enough, while the sandwich was okayish. No disasters and helpful friendly service, but the food could be better

We booked a meal having found on the hotel website that there was a childrens' menu. When we arrived at our booked time we were immediately informed that there was no childrens' menu and that they were under pressure because of a large group who had just arrived without a booking. We eventually were served almost an hour after our arrival. The four adults in our family were very happy with the food that we received. However the two young boys were left hungry as they were unable to eat the burgers which they did not want but were the only items on the menu that they might possibly have liked. After the meal we were told that because of a local event the menu had been changed. However the hotel website still included a childrens' menu which did not exist. If we had known this we would not have booked at all. The waitress was very pleasant and apologetic, but she should not been placed in such a position. A hotel must surely realise that if they choose to advertise on line they must provide accurate information or risk reviews like this.

Been going to Comrie for years and until yesterday had never ventured in here, wish I had done it long ago. The little restaurant at the front of the hotel is spotless & well presented. The staff were brilliant. Friendly and engaging but not intrusive, a real bonus. The food is great classic Pub Grub, we had the Bacon Ceasar to start and was delicious. We then had Scampi and Chips, Haddock and Chips and Steak Pie, all of which were superb. The batter on the fish was some of the best I've ever had. If you are near Comrie looking for great food at a great price then you can't go wrong here, give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

We have just returned from a two night stay in this fantastic family run hotel. We were a family of 5 and stayed in the cottages. From we arrived to our departure the staff could not do enough for us. . The accommodation was excellent, rooms spotless and beds very comfortable. Breakfast was cooked to order with all ingredients freshly sourced. We had dinner on both nights. Fish and chips, steaks and angus burgers all to die for. A special thanks to Charlotte, June, Suzanne and Vincent. Would highly recommend that you visit the Comrie hotel if you are in the area. We certainly will return.

We decided to give the Comrie Hotel a try for lunch. The bar had several customers - probably locals - we chose a seat in the restaurant. Nobody came to serve us so l went in search of assistance- young lad in kitchen and lady in bar - silence! I explained we were in restaurant and would like to order! Food was standard fare - burgers, steak pie, fish & chips etc - hot and nicely presented but let down by poorly trained staff who clearly are not experienced in waiting in a restaurant and with only basic people skills.

Stopped on the way home from west to east coast. Truly a horrible meal. The service was slow (staff were nice enough). Ordered fish for our young daughter, my wife ordered scampi and I ordered a cheese burger. Fish was horrible and full of bones so was not happy to give to my daughter so she had chips (which were standard frozen chips and pretty rubbish). Wife’s scampi and chips were frozen and again really tasteless and poor! My burger had been grilled (to point of burning) a long time ago then microwaved just to ensure all the moisture had completely gone but to add the cheese was horrible also. We were really disappointed with the meal and despite the cost being reasonable if you were having an edible meal, ours was not edible so totally not worth it! Had to go in to the bar area to pay decided against complaining as the bar was full of locals. Didn’t feel comfortable unfortunately. Regardless I would recommend avoiding a visit. Maybe it was a bad night, but it was so bad to make me give a one star which I haven’t done for ages.

Just been in for a meal with My husband and son, and found the place to be a very welcoming and a lovely clean environment. We chose one of the front restaurant rooms to sit in, it had a stone feature wall which was very nice. Staff were very friendly and very accommodating. My husband who had the steak pie said it was lovely (although he did say carrots instead of peas would have been a preference for him but not an optional alternative) I had the macaroni with smoked bacon and it came with side salad and chips which was very good the macaroni was delicious. My son had a half portion of the penne bolognese, it had chunks of veg in it particularly courgette and mushroom, of which he was trying for the first time in a sauce and he thoroughly enjoyed it! Which if you know my son that rates highly! We would definitely make a return next time we are in the area! Thanks again!

The Comrie Hotel has very recently changed from not only a good menu in the evening now include a wide selection of "Meals in a Basket" (and similar takeaway at a competitive fixed price) also a choice of starters and a wide range of fresh sandwiches - something the hotel has not offered previously and is most welcome by regulars and visitors like ourselves. The pool table has been removed and a more relaxing scene created by the suite, chairs and stools - but a large television is required especially when sport is on as was the case with us just listening to tennis is not the same.

Opted for this hotel as recommended by staff at Comrie Croft, despite it being their 2nd choice (first choice - Queens Hotel - which we did actually go to first but i thought was way too posh for campers so we left). At Comrie Hotel, we opted for bar meals and my son & I had chicken goujons & chips which were excellent and my daughter had sausages & chips which she said was "ok" altho chips fab (but she's very particular). lol. She was disappointed there was no macaroni on menu. The piri piri mayo that accompanied mines was superb. Locals were very friendly and advised on bus routes for us back to Comrie Croft. Only downside was card machine not operational. Very reasonable priced. :)

We were glad to see the former living room at the front of the hotel had been transformed into a second dining area. The interior is quite Scandinavian in style with a large wood burner. Our lunch was exceptional. The generous portion of home made lentil soup was hearty - just like my granny would have made - full of flavour and lovely ingredients. Often soup can be disappointing but this was the best I've had in a long time! And the accompanying cheese toasties were bursting with loads of tasty cheese and came with home made coleslaw. We had a couple of drinks and played pool in the bar (didn't notice the charity bottle for the pool until the following afternoon though! 50 p per game goes towards a local charity - great idea!). We found the staff very helpful and inviting and booked a table for 8 persons (including 2 children) for that evening. We were greeted when we arrived, shown a lovely table and made very comfortable - at first the lassie serving us was the only restaurant staff member & assisted serving at the bar - we did not have to wait long for any service - a little later more staff arrived so the service just became better & better! There was an excellent selection of meals including children's meals and all enjoyed the food & drink. The prices were very reasonable and we were more than happy with everything. We spent a few more afternoons and evenings visiting the bar for drinks - we were always made welcome by all the staff and regulars. My partner and I with our two children returned to find the hotel refurbishment has now been completed to the front, which is very nice if not a bit too formal and tight for space in one room, but overheard that further improvements to the bar old lounge area are planned. There has been changes with the inclusion of a pool table and dart board but we agreed that they do little for the area.We noticed that the menu prices had gone up to an average of £4.50 for a starter and approx £11.50 for a main and also there is a Take Away menu available after 5pm. But what we were looking for was the old fashioned Bar Lunch which is sadly not available. We did not eat at the Comrie Hotel that day and instead visited another hotel in the village for home made burger, chips and salsa / salad at £8.25 and was the bar lunch we were looking for and was very nice. I would suggest that the Comrie Hotel include a bar lunch menu which with the summer coming would be very good business for those wishing to sit outside or within the bar area avoiding the more formal dining rooms after one of the many lovely walks in the area.

We had a great meal in here while on a New Year break in a cottage up the road. Staff were fantastic, friendly without being obtrusive, and nothing was too much trouble. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven (as did hubbie) when we tasted our starters. Now, I can't even remember what it was called but it had mushrooms, garlic and cheese in it and it was bloomin' awesome - if they offered it as a main course I would have had it for my main too! However, being a sensible lass I stuck with their fish and chips, which (as the song says) was truly scrumptious; batter was crispy and light and the chips were good and chunky. The décor in the dining room was beautifully festive with red and white table covers which matched the red wood burning stove and made the room very inviting. Having ate our fill we didn't have room for pud so opted to finish our meal with some coffee. All in all it was a smashing meal and we would definitely recommend the Comrie Hotel.

Food was good, nothing super special though. We were there twice as my aunt likes the disabled access. 5 people for carvery + 1 drink for the three adults was £100. Chef is Scottish but the proprietors are Spanish I think? English language is not their strongest asset. There were a few challenges with being understood about what we wanted. It is a family run operation and I sensed that they were all new to serving in a restaurant. Maybe that will change with some experience. If you like frozen chips this is the place for you. Chips come with the meal as an added side with some boiled veg. Most dishes also come with chips. Chips chips and some more chips. It was a chipapalooza! My wife wasn't too interested in chips after eating her mashed potatoes with her meal.

The staff were all very friendly, nothing was a problem and we were made to feel very welcome. Highly recommended, we will return the next time we are in the area.

We visited the Comrie Hotel to have lunch and as others have reviewed it has been slowly being transformed by the new owner and now both the front rooms have been renvovated and provide lovely areas for dining. The rear is not so much a lounge but more of a bar with a pool table and darts now provided and outside space with bench type tables is a nice place in fine weather. The bar is well stocked and the menu varied. The staff are very friendly and efficient at looking after the customers. My dish of fish and chips was a choice based on other reviews and I was not disappointed, however the other dish of battered chicken was poor as the 4 pieces of chicken were large looking until you cut into and found only very small pieces of chicken inside. At over £10 this meal was disappointing and left the diner still hungry.Be carefull what you order.

A booked table for three expanded to five, phoned through to he hotel, but e need up as six. The staff pushed two tables together and were unflustered. The menu was good and we had various choices, all of which were excellent. The banter with both staff and owner was fun, and the chef came over to check we had enjoyed our meal, which we had. We will return.

Recently had dinner for two at the Comrie Hotel. The quality of the food was excellent - cooked with expertise and fresh ingredients by an experienced chef. Would say that it easily beats the other establishments in Comrie with its non fussy but very tasty menu and sensible prices. The best haddock and chips I've ever had - bags of flavour, fresh fish and hand cooked chips. The service was faultless. The dining room looks freshly decorated and was certainly very presentable and would benefit in time with a few things to give the walls a bit more character... small point though. Will definitely be back :-) and will recommend the restaurant to others.

My wife and I were passing through Comrie on a visit to Perthshire and we stopped for lunch. There is obviously a lot of upgrading going on in the hotel and restaurant, which is pleasing to note, and which will improve the whole experience when it is all finished. My wife had fish and chips and she reckoned they were well above average. I had fresh venison liver, which I had never had before, and it was delicious and cooked exactly as it should be.The young Hungarian waitress was a real delight, and she made us most welcome.Do not be put off by the scaffolding outside the building. It will not be there for ever!Parking off the road adjacent to the hotel entrance makes this a good choice of venue.I gather the new family owners have not been there long, and they are definitely making a lot of effort to make this place a real treat for their guests.

We stayed over at the hotel on a Sunday and had dinner within the restaurant. The hotel staff were fantastic (Blake deserves special recognition - thank you!), and our room was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The hotel is located centrally so it’s easy for access to local amenities. The food in the restaurant was excellent and great value. The place was buzzing so we were so lucky to have booked in advance. The locals clearly enjoy the restaurant and made for a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend this place to anyone for meals, drinks and stays.

In town centre parking all around.Served quickly and friendly. Nice menu we both opted for the steak pie. Which didn’t disappoint tasted delicious and good portion size. We even greater ourselves to pudding - sticky toffee to be exact served with ice cream - absolutely delicious.£25 for 2 x 2 courses and soft drinks good value.Defo recommend.

The location, the restaurant, the staff and the food are all excellent. My partner and I had a truly wonderful Sunday lunch and each dish (cheese souffle, John Dory and blueberry pana cotta) worthy of 10 out of 10. scores. My only concern is that the 25% increase in the price may deter future customers.
