Comptoir Libanais in Bath and North East Somerset

I decided to spend my birthday with my family at Comptoir, and it really didn't disappoint! We were greeted by a lovely server (Ishita) who was very attentive and friendly - also very knowledgeable on the menu too. I had such an enjoyable meal and the atmosphere was incredible. Hands down my favourite restaurant in Bath! 💕

If you are a lover of great Lebanese cuisine this place will not disappoint. The ambience is very welcoming and authentic. The staff is attentive but the younger ones could do with a bit of training. The dishes are of a good size and value(a bit on the expensive side). The food is very tasty, flavours lasting, presentation very good. We returned the next day to try the rest of the menu. The service was terrible, I had to wait over 45 minutes to receive just a small dish of hummus which was served without bread! I was also served the wrong drink! The dishes served are very small. In addition, people who had come well after me...were served well before me, despite there being several people! To all this...I was charged £4 for this service...non-existent! In addition, they do not accept cash payments!

The food was nice and tasty, but the prices are little too much for the portion served. Great location. I don't like when they added to the bill the service charge which was £5.

Terrible service, more than 40 minutes of waiting to bring a soup. They served without priority in order of arrival. They got confused and brought other diners' food and above all, they don't accept cash, only credit cards. In addition to charging a supplement, according to them for service, apart from the menu.

Came here on a Friday night, nice welcome but then the service just went down hill, we were popped in a quiet corner which was nice but then resulted in us just being forgotten, we had to get up to get someone’s attention everytime we needed anything. There was plenty of staff on but they were more interested in chatting amongst themselves or dealing with takeaway delivery drivers. When we did get someone’s attention to order it was then very quick to come to the table. The food was absolutely spot on!! I would love to return for the food but the service was just so disappointing and the toilets were filthy!! The walls, the door, under the hand dryer, rubbish on the sink and the toilet roll holder hanging off the wall, you could tell it wasn’t a one off this is months of not being checked/ cleaned properly. Such a shame! Well done to the chefs but the rest just resulted in a poor experience on our anniversary.

The food was good very interesting menu. The service charge added at 12% on the bill is off putting but you can ask for it to be removed.

Delicious food! Beautiful gorgeous aesthetic in the resturant, a very pleasant place to be. We got a mixed grill and a mezze platter for 2 which was a great combination to try multiple different courses and filling. Recommend their blood orange and pomegranate drink.

I went for dinner with someone special person I tried mixed platter and falafel and fish everything was nice , staff was welcoming and we had good time .

Lunch was lovely. We both had the open wrap lamb platter. Very tasty & generous portions with lots of veg & delicious sauces. My only complaint is that it was too salty. However, I've been following a low-salt diet so I'm probably more salt-sensitive than most!! The service was great, very friendly & helpful. For a chain restaurant, this is fab.

Went for a meal here a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed with the decor. The food was very good. I had the lamb tagine. Marked a bit lower for 3 things. 1 - desserts didn't come out at same time for all the party. 2 - price is very high 3 - toilets were pretty dirty. Especially the floor.

The food overall was good. But I was not fond of the presentation. The mezze served in one plate with the sauce from the tabouleh drenching the hummus, the labneh and the falafel was not pleasant to the eyes and the mouth. The whole idea behind an authentic Lebanese mezzeh is misrepresented here.

Restaurant is Amazing in terms of Ambience. But seating isn't great. Food is delicious but expensive. It's a shame to see an Arabian restaurant sharing so less quantity for the price charged. Usually, the Arabs are the pinnacle of generosity. No offence. I recommend it to someone who wants to mark a special occasion and has big pockets.

Popped in for a glass of wine with the wife, what a fantastic venue, atmosphere was great, wine was also great, Mark the GM was so accommodating, couldn't do enough, will definitely recommend to friends and family if ever in the bath area (city) to pop in.

Food really good (lamb tagine) service pretty poor the waitress staring down at her phone for majority of service , manager didn’t seem to care . Reluctantly paid 12.5% service charge

The atmosphere was nice with decorations. But unfortunately the food had a lot of spices and the chicken shawarma we ordered had HAIR in it. The restaurant staff wasn’t so apologetic about the hair and they didn’t offer to remove it from the bill as well.

My experience right from booking for our work Christmas meal was excellent. Mark was so helpful in helping me arrange the table and sort the details in the run up, and Duke (Juke* sorry I'm not sure of the spelling) was great in greeting us and settling us in when we arrived. I had an issue with the preorder online forms in that it was not possible for people to choose 2 courses rather than 3, but on contacting the restaurant Mark resolved our issue really easily and suggested we email our preorder directly. Iya looked after our table of 13 on the night and was brilliant in managing our group which is not easy I know, she was friendly and lovely! Just really impressed with the customer service in general thanks so much Comptoir. Everyone had a lovely time!

Small portions, high prices, poor food

special mention to the lady who delivered the food. the address wasn't quite right. she did not give up, after several minutes on the phone we got there, food delivered. thanks for not giving up on my delivery!

Sadly a menu change. The mixed grill has always been great but over past year definite shrinkflation going on as prices rise. Sticking cheap chicken wings in a mixed grill is a bit of a cynical move by the bosses . Glad I didn't pay to 'go large' . Unfortunately this place feels a long way off where it started . Always felt less like a chain but now feels very much like that.

Amazing food, great and friendly staff.

Really nice place to go for a quiet lunch, delicious food and good service. Recommend the fresh mint tea. Had to wait for my friend to arrive and was made to feel very comfortable doing so. I would be happy eating in there as a solo diner, which is something I value highly in a restaurant.

Came tonight around 7pm with family, was served by a lovely lady who said her name was Steph. The atmosphere was very beautiful and friendly, we had a mixed grill platter and others which were very delicious and came quite quickly. Service was wonderful and quick. Highly recommend!

We went on a very busy Saturday. We did not know you have to book table during Christmas time as they are very busy. The manager was very helpful and sitted us outside and did not forget about us. We had a great service celebrating my birthday there. The food is geourgeous as always.

We arrived at 5:30 for our meal. It was our friends birthday and she really wanted to have some great Lebanese food. We received our drinks promptly but were then waiting for our food for over an hour. We checked with our original server twice only for her to then avoid speaking with us for the duration of the night. Noah was great! He came over and sorted everything out for us, even mentioning our wait to the manager who then offered us a discount and a free dessert for my friends whose birthday we were celebrating. If it weren’t for Noah, I am unsure what would have happened with our food. 1 star taken off service because of the original server and her avoidance of our table. We hope to come back soon!

First ever visit here, from arrival we were made to feel very welcome before being shown to a table. The food and drink menus were vast with so much selection The young lady serving us explained the menu and detailed ingredients in specific items we asked about The food itself was very tasty and sufficient sized portions Highly recommend a visit

Decor was great. Order was taken promptly. But thats where good experience end. Order took 45 min to arrive and when it did. Most of the dish was burnet. When it came to paying the bill. They given us the wrong bill and when they were informed about it; extra money had to be paid.

We are having a mini break in Bath and decided Comptoir was a good choice as we love it at home in Exeter. We were really let down by this evenings customer service. Very disappointing. After being initially shown to our table, we were then ignored by the waiting staff for about 20-30 minutes. Its a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was quiet. The staff just appeared more focused on cleaning the empty tables and setting them back up. No prioritising going on. Eventually we had to ask a waitress who was again passing us by, if we can finally order please. The food came out and but still no drinks, bearing in mind by this point wed been in the restaurant for about 40 minutes. They brought these out several minutes after our food was served. And then I had to remind the waitress about the water we'd also asked for. Delicious food as always, we can't fault that. Once our plates were cleared and we said no thank you to any dessert, we then sat there for another 20 mins before we eventually managed to get the attention of a waitress to ask for the bill. She then went on clearing tables and setting up for the next day for what seemed like ages, so we then got up to get our coats on and tried to get attention once again and had to ask for the bill again.We have been to the Exeter restaurant countless times and always had excellent customer service to match the perfect food. So tonight, sadly, at Bath Comptoir, ot was a let down.

Pathetic experience! Very rude and unprofessional staff! After having good time few years ago, I decided to visit this restaurant again on 10th Nov which turned out to be a disaster. We were a group of 4+ 2 children. Firstly the food portions were substantially less. The waiter who served us was very uninterested, and rude. He was showing us frustrated gestures and making faces when we asked him help with the menu. Secondly he didnot explain us properly about The Feast (player) and left us very confused, however we ordered. When he brought us the starter plater which we were not expecting the way it came and he said this is what he ordered and this is what it is. The mains followed the same; very small portions and smell in ch wings. We ordered additional rice which after waiting 15 mins; came as chips I told him that we ordered rice not the chip. Then he got the rice and threw the bowl on the table very rudely !! We decided to just pack up and leave the restaurant becaus of all this, in the deal there were tea and backlavas included with in the deal. We were not offered that until we reminded the him (the waiter) in which he said we don’t have tea. On which he said we don’t have tea. Then I asked him to get the backlavas in a take away box. Then We got the 2 small stale backlavas Well the overall bill which we payed were £125. The food was over priced with very small portions Due to. Absolute disgusting staff behaviour and the food. I’m not going back to this rubbish restaurant

Really lovely restaurant, the food was all delicious and freshly made. The flat breads were super yummy and all the food was nicely seasoned. Their lemonades are a must try and super refreshing as well. Really like the decor as well, creates a really nice atmosphere. Definitely one to visit if you're in Bath

We had the Prix Fixe menu, which we thought was good value. All the food was delicious. We also had the Beirut beer, which was excellent.

Absolutely ‘yummazing’ and perhaps the best Lebanese food I have eaten in a long, long time. I have lived in the Middle East for 2 decades and have eaten this cuisine almost every week. I loved the food and the service so much , that I went for two back to back lunches. Thank you, Duke for your super service and recommendations. If I come back to Bath again, this is first restaurant I will visit again. I tried the Zaatar bread /Manaakish with garlic on both days, steaming hot right from the oven. An absolutely decadent delight. The Shish tawouk as the main course was superb with the salad and rice. The next lunch was the chicken kebab, hummus ; superb again - the two sauces ( garlic -tuom & red sauce) are an absolute must. Duke was kind to offer a complimentary ‘fattoush’ as i had enquired about it and as a solo diner I couldn’t order another portion. Fresh, crunchy veges, the dressing just right.. Highly recommend and a must visit.

We went for our anniversary dinner. Food amazing as always but very slow cold service. Had no cutlery when food was given and couldn't find staff to ask. Had to go looking around tables for some. Probably will do takeaway in the future.

We've eaten here a few times over the last three years as the decor and atmosphere is good and food and service too, but I did feel somewhat disappointed when I last popped in for a quick lunch. Wanting something tasty and nutritious to eat before walking home, the limp, tired salad I was given after several promptings for service, didn't tick any boxes neither did paying just short of £8. The highlight of the meal was the fresh mint in the jug of tap water.

We visited this restaurant on a Thursday evening and we’re pretty lucky to get a table as it was very busy. We loved the feel and look of the place. It felt very authentic. Although it was busy, the service was quick. We ordered 3 mezze between us as a starter and found it was plenty of food for 2 people. On the menu it recommends 2 to 3 per person. I’d suggest you’d need a very healthy appetite to eat that amount if you’re having a main course as well. I had the chicken tagine with couscous which was Devine. The whole meal was superb and not overly expensive at just over £100 for 2 people including a bottle of wine and service charge. Highly recommended

I went there, expecting or hoping to hear that Lebanon had a unique language, but discovered to my surprise that English & French, is spoken there very often & (no surprise to me) that they speak Arabic too. I was able at least, to 'try' SOME Arabic, but mostly English, with the waiter who took my food order, but also spoke some (central/south american) Spanish! with the waitress who served my order (she was from Sri Lanka, but speaks no Sinhala? or Tamil, which I beieve are 2 languages of Sri Lanka). Her English is excellent as it is from everyone I spoke to there. So I was able to say "thank you, the food was lovely", in English, Arabic, & Spanish! The food, as expected was very nice - I had the Pitta Bread with Hummus to start, then Lamb Kofta with Rice & some Salad. For my Drink I had Elderflower Spritz - but will not have THAT drink from there again as it has 'soda water' in it, which I dont like. If, or more likely when, I go there again I will have a diffrtent drink - their 'mocktails' & soft drink list is quite large. Having a '2 course lunch' - starter & main plus a drink - cost me £33.92. A little higher than I usually pay, IF I have a late lunch in town. £25 is usually my limit on the rare occasions I go to a 'proper resteraunt'. A nice meal & 1 drink at £25 is getting harder to find when 'going Solo'. If, like me, you have a problem with seeds of tomato, red/yellow/green/orange peppers, or those from Chilli or with pickled (rather than fresh) cucumbers, you will need to ask the waiter if any of that is in their dishes, & tomato is used in a lot of them - they do not remove such seeds first, unfortunately (it is the seeds I have a problem with not the fruit 'born' from the seeds. Very nice food, background music (Arabic I think), very polite waiting staff. Not really 'expensive', but It will be a while before I go back, as £8 over my spending limit can't happen that often!

Beautifully decorated and inviting. A few improvements would make it more special and worth another star. Portions a little small considering price. Buttata Harra nice buy a tad dry. Falafels fantastic but again could do with a bit of tahini sauce to moisten. 12.5% service charge would be friendlier at 10%. And glass bottles of ice cold coke would be more appealing than cans. On the whole though a lovely, tasty meal and friendly and efficient service.

The restaurant is full of roses, creating a vibrant and romantic atmosphere that perfectly complements its maximalist design. The food, as expected from a Lebanese restaurant, was delightful. However, I was a bit disappointed by the limited menu. Despite the vast array of dishes that Lebanese cuisine has to offer, the restaurant’s selection was quite restricted. This left me wishing for more variety and options to choose from. Also, while the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, my mocktail took an eternity to arrive.

Me and my finance went for lunch on Sunday 4th of august and we had a superb time. The food was utterly amazing and the staff were so quick, friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this restaurant if you are in bath. Beautifully decorated and very cool on a hot day. Can’t wait to go back

I recently dined at Comptoir and I must say that my experience left much to be desired. The food quality was incredibly disappointing, and it was evident that corners were cut in the kitchen. Firstly, the chicken and bread served to me seemed to have been reheated. The chicken lacked freshness and flavor, and the bread was so tough and stale that it was practically inedible. The olive oil bread, in particular, was disappointingly hard, making it challenging to even take a bite. Moreover, the meat dish I ordered was a letdown as well. It was clear that the meat had been reheated rather than freshly grilled as advertised. The lack of juiciness and tenderness further confirmed that the dish fell short of expectations. Overall, my dining experience was marred by subpar food quality and disappointing flavors. I expected a fresh and delicious meal, but instead, I was served reheated dishes that failed to impress. I hope that the restaurant takes steps to improve its food preparation and quality control to ensure that future diners have a more satisfying culinary experience.

Painfully slow service won’t come again

£71 for two . Nobody in the restaurant . 2 drinks, 4 coffees and two small meals . Supposed to be in a tagine but served in a very very small bowl . Will not ever go in there again

Woaw What a great place. The food was delicious and had portions that wont leave you hungry. I recommend trying their lemonades as well. Food came fast But was fresh. The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere and the design is incredibly lively and welcoming. I think the prices are also better than other places in Bath that tourists may go to.

Staff are very nice, but seriously understaffed so service really slow. Food good but some ' Lebanese' dishes not authentic Lebanese ( I live in Lebanon) We used to particularly enjoy the Kibbeh and Siyadieh but sadly they're not on the menu anymore.

Disappointing and Overpriced I was incredibly gutted with my recent experience at Comptoir Libanais restaurant in Bath. The food, unfortunately, did not live up to the hype or the price tag. The portions were shockingly small(3 pieces per skewer) for the cost. It felt like I was paying for a tasting menu rather than a proper meal. To add insult to injury, they even charged for the bread, which is typically complimentary in many restaurants. I would strongly recommend exploring other Lebanese restaurants in Bath that offer better value for money.

I have tried the one in London as well. Food and ambience both are excellent. Highly recommended.

I ordered 3( feast to share) meal which consists of mezze platter+ large plate + tea and baklawa for 34.95£ But i was shocked when I was going to pay that they put an extra charge of 12£ for tea and baklawa and when i asked the waitress about the extra charge she told me the tea and dessert were not included but we did discount for them They really scammed me and i didn't like this experience at all

Had lunch today , the mixed grills is good but not the best, mezza is good service was poor , only one waiter and you have to wait for ages to get whatever you ordered although there were only 3 tables occupied! We ordered 3 share platters (it says in the menu -mezza, mixed grills , baqlawa and tea ) yet when we paid they added the tea and baqlawa price! When we asked they said no you get it for discount price bcz you ordered the share platter its not included ! Yet it clearly says in the menu that it’s complementary with the share order and it was 34£ /person and the waiter included it when explaining the order! A tip of 12% was added , we thought its mandatory, in the bottom it says its optional!? Yet they added it automatically and never clarified ,We did not notice that so paid it although it was a poor service !! I found all of that was quite deceiving!!

Avoid this restaurant!!! Rushed waiters,cold and huge waitting times to get drinks and especially food!! Meat very dry and very seasoned!! Completly not worth it!!

We were welcomed and seated by Duke who was very hospitable, friendly and food familiar. He gave us great recommendations but the halloumi with figs, pistachios and rose petals was just the star on the table. Absolutely mind blowing taste! Both lemonades Roomana and Toufaha you just must try yourself! Great experience!

Lovely restaurant. Authentic Lebanese food, true to taste. Great service by Ishita-we asked her for recommendations and true enough, all the preparations were to die for. We ordered MIXED GRILL platter, Tony’s hummus, falafel open wrap, spinach and feta borek, Batata Harra and assortment of lemonades. Everything was sumptuous.

The staff are very lazy and the restaurant is almost always dirty. They seriously couldn't care less that you're there. Once you get it, the food is OK.

We ordered fattoush, which was very delicious. Shish tawook was delicious, and it came with hot sauce once, but the quantity was very small for the price. It was served with vermicelli rice and cabbage salad. We ordered hummus and potato hara and they were very delicious 👍🏻. The atmosphere is beautiful and the service is excellent.

Lovely food. Really looked after us. Duke was exceptionally attentive.
